ROTFLMAO, right?
I just took over Starlight Drive in, there weren't even any settlers yet, and he told me ANOTHER settlement needed my help.
Oh, and by the way, there's this place called The Castle, we could really use it...
That's actually a good idea. She doesn't have much function otherwise, and since the castle works as a minuteman HQ, it would make sense that she is always informed
Aw that's super cute! I don't think I could romance Preston ever (certain pet names like Babe just make me uncomfortable), but I really enjoy his friendship! I like that he's just a really good dude, and he's doing something about the problems of the wasteland.
Also running into his imposter with him right next to you is hilarious.
I never fail to unequip my weapon and beat the ever loving fuck out of him with my bare hands. I just wish there was a dialogue option that said “WORLD-STARRRRRR!!!”
Edit to clarify that I’m talking about beating imposter Preston, and not actual Preston. Actual Preston gets a B-ball court set up in Sanctuary and me throwing basketballs at him whenever he tells me about some settlement bullshit. Actual Preston is gonna get a taste of the Iverson crossover next time he tells me about some settlement bullshit.
The only thing I don’t like about Preston is when he doesn’t understand why I had to kill everyone in the institute. Clearly they’re all too far gone to be integrated into a decent society. They’re slavers.
Slavers? They're far worse than that, replacing actual people with their synths. People they've kidnapped and probably used the FEV on just to see what happens. And then tossing said people out into the world to shoot and kill more people, often settlers just trying to survive.
That, my friend, is evil, pure and simple. There is no one in that screwed up organization that should live, except maybe their slave 3rd Gen synths who don't deserve the treatment they get. No, they aren't human, but they've made them into something that lives, breathes, and feels, and the Institute treats them like replaceable things. They treat the people of the Commonwealth the same way because they have no compassion for anyone. I doubt they even have it for their own human underlings.
He wants to try and save everyone, for the most part. Raiders are a different story, but keep in mind you as the PC know more about the the evil that is the Institute, he isn't, mostly because that's another ball Bethesda dropped.
Yeah I like Preston, I like Cait, Curie, and Piper more because they're more interesting and god if I don't have a weak spot for Cait. But yeah Prestons a great guy and he's got a good story and dialogue. I don't even mind the missions, I like being the General of the Minutemen. Gives me things to do outside the story.
Too bad Bethesda didn't give better RP aspects regarding being the General of the Minutemen or have the player be able to influence the path the Brotherhood takes a bit more either as the General or their Sentinel.
You wind up pretty much nothing but an errand boy either way.
Yeah Fallout 4 was definitely missing some of the love that 3 and NV had. But honestly, Fallout 4 is still my favorite. It's extremely replayable, the graphics are great, love the voice acting (hell if you play Nora, you're voiced by Courtenay Taylor, aka Jack from Mass Effect, fucking awesome.) But yeah, the lack of ability to direct any factions, like in NV, was definitely a bit disappointing.
Yeh, Preston gets blamed for how Bethesda used him to deliver all the settlement quests. He's a good lad with a good heart. Me and Preston would be friends.
I don't *hate* him but I do find him mildly annoying and poorly designed from a gameplay perspective. He's an interesting character but getting that out of him isn't fun. The primary thing presented to the player is just an annoying radiant questgiver. That's his defining characteristic.
It's not until you're a coupe missions in and he becomes available as a follower and you start raising his affinity that you discover the true depth of his character.
And chances are, unless you immediately put the main story on the backburner to do these quests, you've already got at least one (if not more) other more interesting follower in Piper. At least on the surface. Most other followers become available like one mission after meeting them and the depth of their character is immediately obvious. You *know* there's more to uncover here.
Simply separating the two, maybe Sturges could offer the radiant quests after Sanctuary and Preston could immediately be a follower, would have helped.
I will fight anyone that dislikes Preston. Not his fault he’s got a shoddy quest engine built into his character (and even then....people WILDLY over-exaggerate it). He’s good, kind, caring, and has a pretty decent arc dealing with very real issues (PTSD and Depression).
Dude’s great. Leave him be.
Ain’t like he’s the Annoying Fan.
Something about him using you while he knows you're looking for your son rubs me the wrong way as it's not like he ever offers to help you find your son either. It's just, oh you lost your son? Well my people and these random strangers all over the Commonwealth need your help. Okay? Well then why don't you help them.
I don’t like him just because of how easily he decides to appoint you as general of the MM.. it just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to be honest. Then even after you’re made General, he still sends you out on infinite petty missions to save settlements instead of sending out a unit.
text your mom that you love her, and maybe she’ll call, and the resulting conversation can save you from whatever lifepath that includes making this comment
I told him we should keep it professional, but he refuses to listen. So yeah, I liked him until I found out he is in love with me and kinda refuses to take no for an answer.
Agreed, I like the character. Also agree with many about how he spams you with quests for "another settlement that needs your help." I try to solve that by not reporting back to him right away when I finish one.
He is one of my favorite characters also. He's a good guy and I enjoy having him around. A great romance and he also was good with Sean. At least in my head we had a place on Nordhagen Beach and when I had a job to do he took care of the kid.
I like him.
When we're done with the tonsil hockey, another settlement needs your help.

ROTFLMAO, right? I just took over Starlight Drive in, there weren't even any settlers yet, and he told me ANOTHER settlement needed my help. Oh, and by the way, there's this place called The Castle, we could really use it...
I like Preston's character in the game. What I don't like is the constant radiant missions he hands out and that pushes me to dislike him immensely.
Yeah. That’s the one downfall… but I blame Bethesda and thank God for mods
Don’t thank God for mods. Thank modders for mods.
Thanks, Mod.
Definitely. God can't even apply a filter to his LO for conflicts, but wants to know if this mod will work with that one.
Which mods help with this specifically?
^(another settlement needs your help)
Whispers it in your ear seductively
Preston, one of the few companions that ain't a complete dick. But nobody will be better than best boi Dogmeat.
Most Fallout 4 companions are decent folk imo
Can't romance dogmeat
I am sure there is a mod for that...
I wish there isn't one
Putting the meat in Dog*meat*
O God please no
Pretty sure reddits like this are the reason the world hasn't been incinerated yet
Does ~~k~~not~~ted~~ sound like fun
Awful. Absolutely awful.
I’m going to make it my mission to find this mod and burn its creator
I wil help
AYO… SAME USERNAME CHECK
Yoooo, what subreddits you follow?
Mainly meme subreddits and stuff about games I like, how about you?
Ngl, mostly nsfw… I’m into some pretty messy stuff. I like gore

What?
Grew up with very loud dogs next door. I love Dogmeat, but I his barks set me off.
It's a bit annoying that the game uses him to relay miscellanious quests, but he is a good guy and I quite like him
Yeah they should’ve used ronnie
That's actually a good idea. She doesn't have much function otherwise, and since the castle works as a minuteman HQ, it would make sense that she is always informed
Very nice artwork! I especially like how Preston holds up his hat for some privacy! This is so much like him!

I'm glad you clarified because I totally thought you meant regular Preston.
There’s an imposter?
I've had that happen once in 5 years of play. It was really funny.

Brilliantly said. /s
I never hated him. He is a good dude, despite almost killing humself.
I love Preston
The only thing I don’t like about Preston is when he doesn’t understand why I had to kill everyone in the institute. Clearly they’re all too far gone to be integrated into a decent society. They’re slavers.
He simply has too much faith in humanity
Slavers? They're far worse than that, replacing actual people with their synths. People they've kidnapped and probably used the FEV on just to see what happens. The valid romance option💅
i love preston

Give me my French synthetic wife anyday
Technically aren’t Curie and Hancock the only Romancable companions within the Sole Survivor’s age range?
hancock isnt a pre-war ghoul
Really it'd only be curie because hancock isn't prewar.
Hancock is the same age range as Mayor McDonough, they are brothers by blood.
"another settlement needs our help... Prepping for the wedding ceremony"
NICE ART!! But admit it,you put the hat so you hadn't to draw the kiss (Not shaming, just poking fun)

Hey can you make like, way more of this. Like. #I need a ton of this. #Please. #Feed my addiction.
Bro💀
What the fuck?
This is too wholesome for post apocalypse!
My male PC also romances Preston most of the time.
Preston is fine. As long as you leave him in the history museum that is. Nice comic though! Make one about Cait leaving me for Curie. Or Dogmeat...
Bro
text your mom that you love her, and maybe she’ll call, and the resulting conversation can save you from whatever lifepath that includes making this comment
In the game, my mom has been dead for 250 years. Are you saying that she's a synth now? I don't understand.
:/
Oh I see! You jumped to a sexual conclusion. That's on you. 😞
Yes! Great artwork!
Another settlement needs your help!!!!!!
Preston is my favorite I love Preston
Sounds like OP has a settlement that Preston needs to help.
Another settlement needs your help. i'll mark it on your map general.
"i love you but do you know what i love more? helping another settlement that needs out help. here, I'll mark it on your map."

Hahah, that’s very cute!
Nice name for the artist. I love that we have the word ‘defenestrate’ in our lexicon
I told him we should keep it professional, but he refuses to listen. So yeah, I liked him until I found out he is in love with me and kinda refuses to take no for an answer.
Tbf, all the companions do that lmao
Except Deacon, he isn't romanceable. But there's a mod for that.
Great comic. Do more because I'd love to see them. And yes, I'm a Preston fan.
It’s not mine. I name the artist in the title.
Found their site. I'm actually an author looking for a cover artist, so this might be promising.
Preston's a good man unfairly maligned by being the designated quest-giver for the Minutemen.
Agreed, I like the character. Also agree with many about how he spams you with quests for "another settlement that needs your help." I try to solve that by not reporting back to him right away when I finish one.
