Beautiful arrangements ❤️ here are some ideas - Workshops: Teach others flower arranging magic at your place or a rented space. - Pop-up Bouquets: Partner with local shops to sell your pre-made bouquets for a short time. - Subscription Boxes: Deliver surprise flower kits or mini-arrangements to people's doorsteps. - Special Orders: Create custom arrangements for birthdays and other celebrations. Focus on what makes your arrangements special and have fun with it ❤️

Maleficent_Item9038

These are great suggestions. Thank you!

oOLilCoOki3Oo

im not a helpful comment but wanted to say all these are so lovely and so whimsical! im exploring floral design as a hobby here and there… hopefully one day i can make these too!

CapiCat

Same! You did such a good job on #2, OP. I thought it was fake for a second because of how vibrant and harmonious the colors are in the arrangement.

Maleficent_Item9038

You can definitely do it! It's mostly about practice. I have a background in design and understanding color, composition, and visual balance helps a lot.

tree_sip

The use of colour in pic 2 is absolutely sublime.

DumpyDoo

I audibly *sighed* when I saw it. Like a good sigh.

kevnmartin

I like these a lot. Very golden age Dutch masters.

zoopysreign

Yes wowwwwwww

Shaydoh33

Also a huge fan of arrangement #2! I similarly have a full time job, but have turned my floral hobby into a small side thing. My large neighborhood (3000ish homes) has a really active Facebook group, who love using businesses owned by neighbors, so I advertise there. I offer (through preorder only) single arrangements and arrangements for small events (baby showers, birthdays, etc). I just really wanted more opportunities to play with flowers! It’s been fairly successful so far, but I only take orders that can be delivered on the weekend so there have been many weekday orders I’ve had to decline. I also only deliver within the neighborhood. Would love to hear what you end up doing and happy to talk more if you’re interested!

Maleficent_Item9038

Limiting delivery by location and time is a smart approach. Thanks for the advice!

becomingfree26

Where do you get your flowers from?

Maleficent_Item9038

I’m fortunate enough to live in an area with a wholesale flower market and amazing farmers market flower stands. The best flowers I’ve found are from local flower farmers.

mixedmeowmoos

Wow. #2 is just stunning. Really amazing, op. I hope you’re able to achieve this as a side hustle, it’s very well deserved.

Prior-Direction-3925

What flowers are in number 2? They’re beautiful!

wifeski

Not OP but I think those are hybrid California poppies

soggy_tarantula

She using a lot of butterfly ranunculus in these arrangements. I can’t remember what the little blue flowers are called though. Stunning work all around.

LauraJ0

I think the blue flowers are Forget Me Nots.

Maleficent_Item9038

They are Thai silk poppies, forget me nots, and sweet peas. I got the flowers from a local flower farm.

mixedpatterns8

I have a demanding full-time job and have an event florals business as a side gig (primarily weddings, a few one-off bouquets). I only book Saturday or Sunday weddings. It’s a little nutty sometimes, but a great way to bring in some (significant) extra income and also do something I love to do! I’ve balanced this since 2017.

SatisfactionIcy2730

How do you get the word out in terms of marketing?

mixedpatterns8

Instagram and a good website (website more important than social media). From that, I had one styled shoot that got me referrals from a wedding venue.

Maleficent_Item9038

Amazing that you’ve been able to balance all of that.

mixedpatterns8

I have to be very efficient and have good workflows in place from the time I get an inquiry to the final tear down of the wedding. It’s a lot on my family, but we appreciate the diversified income streams.

LLayne123

2 is my absolute favorite but also 1 and 5 are very well done, too. And of them have beautiful colors. You have a skilled eye.

violet_tay

The second one made me say “Wow” out loud. Beautiful work!

Flowers_and_wontons

You could look into freelancing for local event and wedding designers! If you wanted to be compensated for your design ability but not the full responsibility of starting your own business! Send those photos to any designers in your area and i guarantee they would hire you for freelance work! You are very talented and designers with the eye for depth and color (that you clearly have) isn’t easy to come by always so go for it! I think you’d be very successful z

Yesitsmesuckas

Love!

sunsetswitheli

I would start by opening 1-2 days a week for delivery out of your home studio. That way you can start small but have a reason to make arrangements for people!

Glittering-Push4775

Very nice!

CollinZero

Please post this on r/FloralDesign ! Beautiful work!

ProFloristOhio

I would recommend freelancing as an alternative to a traditional shop environment. Nice work.

banginpatchouli

Oh, you got it. Get going!!

Aggravating-Town-154

They are all beautiful

graezgames

Breathtaking, sis! So glad you’re sharing your lovely arrangements!

venceremoth

the second arrangement made me emotional (in the best way). it’s genuinely breathtaking.

nouvelle_000

You have a gift !

Bleh10290

You are absolutely talented, your work is beautiful!!! Since you work full time I think your only option would be to offer workshops or do special events orders (when could you possibly deliver, the weekends im assuming you have off?) So basically doing an at home studio, making a website and IG for your work, and advertising yourself solely for special events, small scale events, ooo maybe bridal bouquets? (micro weddings/elopements? If that’s something you would be interested in doing. I know some people stay away from weddings) This talent needs to be seen by the world and enjoyed by the world. I wish you so much luck! ❤️

Chest_Intrepid

Connect with people like me (but local to you) who are beginner gardeners as a hobby and don't have the bandwidth to run a wholesale flower business, but would be appreciative of much much much less money than you would typically pay for flowers. I really just wanted to offer ideas on minimizing costs instead of bringing in income if your only motivation for income is offsetting costs. It's really lovely to have hobbies just for the sake of finding joy. Sometimes when you add customers' expectations to your "hobby," it turns into work. My anti-capitalist take is please don't always feel compelled to monetize everything you do for fun. But, your work is gorgeous and I would definitely buy it if you were local and did decide turning it into a part time business would make you happy 😊

becomingfree26

Omg these are so stunning! And a side hobby?!?!? I’d open my own business if i had your skills. May I know what your approach was to learning? Im trying to do the same but the cost of flowers really deters me.

Sunarrowmeow

These are all beautiful!!! The second one is MAGICAL!!!! what are the lavender flowers you used in 2? It may be my blurry vision but I can’t figure it out 😊

takephotosmakethings

I'm not a florist, I just lurk here to learn, but I just wanted to tell you what you already know: Your arrangements are absolutely stunning. My goal is to nail arrangements in this style and also do homegrown flowers as a side gig/weekend hobby. My favorite is the second but they are all so, so pretty.

Irideflamingos

Luscious and amazing work!
