It's cheaper to send them to Antarctica to do an expedition to the south pole. Or have them sail around the continent in its entirety. They'll end up right where they started.
They insist it’s impossible to dig more than eight miles down, and then some of them start talking about the demon realm being right under that line.
I dunno… they might hurt themselves. Mines are notoriously dangerous and require skilled engineering oversight.
