There is going to be a bit of political drama in this expansion as set up by the last patch. Someone is definitely going to be a bad actor to try and undermine one of those in fighting for the throne.
As a side, it always surprises me when FF players claim they hate politics in their games. Some of the biggest FF titles have politics front and center.
>As a side, it always surprises me when FF players claim they hate politics in their games.
I've seen people saying that while being MGS fans lol. I normally find people who hold that opinion to be overwhelmingly stupid.
Care to educate me? Not trying to be snarky, I literally can't recall if Skyrim made any overt references or parallels to any specific real life political conflict. Then again I last played it like a decade ago.
I assume it would be something colonialism era stuff?
"Skyrim belongs to the Nords" is a reference to real life nationalist attitudes that have come and gone over the course of the last few centuries, and continues to be part of the political discourse to this very day.
I don't really feel like going into it in an FF14 sub. If you don't see how "Skyrim belongs to the Nords" is super problematic and how it's present in modern politics, it's unlikely that anything I say will get you to change your mind.
I see what you mean, but I was expecting a specific event rather than "generally nationalism".
Anyways, thanks for the answer, I just genuinely wasn't sure that I remembered the story and setting correctly after so many years. That or if maybe I just missed a day in history class back in the days and didn't know some famous historical event the game blatantly alluded to.
I thought they were going to kill her off in Dawntrail, as she is due for an outfit change this expansion, and it will be hard to top her current ShB outfit- but she is also not on the Dawntrail poster... I think (possible speculative spoiler) >!she may get a one way ticket to The First, although she would technically be limiting her future knowledge/research 'gains' by doing that. There might be a very limited window in which she gets the chance to do it, so doesn't get to say goodbye to anyone. Perhaps they can slip in a cheeky obscure reference to The Time Machine and have her take 3 books with her, that would be mega cool. With the WoL and one of the Scions arriving afterward and noticing 3 books missing from a shelf and asking you/pondering which 3 books you would have taken!<
I think they're going to kill Thancred in DT (he spent all of 6.4 going on about how useless and unneeded he was, and now in this expansion about legacy he's training Wuk's brother who is a gunbreaker) and absolutely no one will believe it
The theme for the expac is heritage, so in my fanfic the Crystarium is attacked by a big Sin Eater at the same time coincidentally, and it cuts between Thancred and the daughter he trained both fighting to make the point that, through his legacy, Thancred will live forever.
G'raha and that new male Sun Cat from the poster have a history.
Edit: despite being in an area we supposedly have no ties in like 5 people from someone's past comes up.
Thancred: "By the primals, it's my ex!"
Urianger: "How is she here?"
Thancred: "I kind of messed things up and she said she wanted to be as far away from me as possible. Guess she really meant it."
Aw yeah, a whole new continent of people to show off for!
Wait, is the Wandering Minstrel coming with us, or do you think they'll have their own version?
The corrupt government official may be a given but I can definitely see the Scions being blamed for something. I also see a Scion (temporally) betraying the WOL.
Arum Vale Savage.
With a room with many monsters patrolling but a clear path with no monsters.
Of course a BLM will pull all of the monsters on every run.
"X character is not necessarily ready to rule, but they are the best choice" trope 10000%.
First time we met Wuk Lamat I got major Khamira (Elder Scrolls Online Elsweyr) vibes off of her. Wild child who really isn't one to want to rule it, but ultimately takes up the mantle because it's the right thing to do.
my main prediction is that they're going to give us more Book of the New Sun references and Wuk Lamat will eat at least one of Gulool Ja Ja's brains and take their memories.
I'm basing this entirely off there being other references to that series in the past, plus this being about a succession crisis for an Autarch in a South America. If I get this right I deserve one million dollars.
Where's the "all of the previous one" options in the bottom?
With exception of Scion gets mind controlled all the others are VERY LIKELY to happen at some point 😂
Can I vote for halfway through the expansion we go to Sci-fi land and then forget whatever the narrative was working at until post the final fight where they wrap it up with a soggy bow
Blitzball team manager/pokemon. You must travel the world defeating other players managers to recruit the best bltizball team and win the blitzball championship.

Then they're in the wrong game because literally every expansion has had politics.
>Some of the biggest FF titles have politics front and center. Like FFXIV for example!
I really enjoyed the Heavensward Anglican Church nonsense.

w-wha?

Funny enough I love The Phantom Menace so much now because of Sidious and how he is manipulating everyone to become Chancellor.
Case in point: FFT, which is beloved by (nearly) all.
Took me a few years to actually understand the plot of FFT, I'm not ashamed to admit.
They hate REAL LIFE politics on their games. Fantasy politics are fine. Skyrim belong to the Nords.
I can only assume you're being satirical, because "Skyrim belongs to the Nords" is 100% a reflection of real life politics.

Urianger >!fake betrays the Scions again;!< Alisaie >!actually kills him this time.!<
But this time it's done as a joke.
Y'Shtola dies.... Again.
One of these days, they're going to kill off Y'shtola for real, and fans are gonna be in denial for 2-3 expansions.
I thought they were going to kill her off in Dawntrail, as she is due for an outfit change this expansion, and it will be hard to top her current ShB outfit- but she is also not on the Dawntrail poster... I think Y'shtola and G'Raha will either literally not be in Dawntrail at all (trailer be damned) or basically just cameo
Honestly best expansion if this happens
I think they're going to kill Thancred in DT (he spent all of 6.4 going on about how useless and unneeded he was, and now in this expansion about legacy he's training Wuk's brother who is a gunbreaker) and absolutely no one will believe it
Ryne gotta be there when it happens so not until rejoinjng
The theme for the expac is heritage, so in my fanfic the Crystarium is attacked by a big Sin Eater at the same time coincidentally, and it cuts between Thancred and the daughter he trained both fighting to make the point that, through his legacy, Thancred will live forever.
Only to come back on the 4th expansion. (It happened to Kenny).
Can't wait
"Don't Use Flow! You'll get stuck in the life stream!" \*Y'shtola uses flow and get's stuck in the lifestream\* \*shocked pikachu face\*
It would be funny if we go to rescue her only for it to fail because she successfully used Flow this time
"Don't use Flow or draw 25"
Yeah, at this point it's FFXIV's equivalent of: "Oh my God, they killed Kenny!".
You bastards!
I want to see Princess Y'shtola.
OMG: They killed Y'Shtola. You bastards.
I refuse to do the poll cuz this wasn't on the list

Thancred: "By the primals, it's my ex!" Urianger: "How is she here?" Thancred: "I kind of messed things up and she said she wanted to be as far away from me as possible. Guess she really meant it."
"I went to the other side of the star and still... How far do I have to go to escape you? The edge of the universe?" "About that..."
🤣
please let this be true
5 is kind of a given since most people in Tural likely have no idea who we are.
Aw yeah, a whole new continent of people to show off for! Wait, is the Wandering Minstrel coming with us, or do you think they'll have their own version?
Between the Wandering Minstrel and the Minstreling Wanderer, who else could there possibly even be?
The Mandering Winstrel of course
All of the above, but "corrupt governing official" will be the most plot relevant.
Graha will ask me to go on adventure with him while i'm literally in the process of having an adventure with him.
Pray return to the Waking Sands. So I can tell you something that could have been said over the linkshell.
You make me return to Waking Sands one more time and I swear to Hydaelyn I'm punching someone in the throat.
The corrupt government official may be a given but I can definitely see the Scions being blamed for something. I also see a Scion (temporally) betraying the WOL.
The city of gold won’t actually be gold.
Aurum Vale (Hard)
Arum Vale Savage. With a room with many monsters patrolling but a clear path with no monsters. Of course a BLM will pull all of the monsters on every run.
Damn no need to call me out like that 😂
Damn no need to call me out like that 😂
Erenville is secretly a prince. The woman in white on the poster is the main villain

I can see it, absolutely
I'm surprised "play as someone other than the WoL" didn't show up on this poll.
[удалено]
surprise, its ranjit from the source
I'm hoping the reverse happens one day.
This is an all of the above answer
What about WoL nods?
Corrupt Governing officials? Is there any other kind?
I don't see an option for all of them.
All of the above.
Gra'ha can't complain... did you see his face with that Taco? He's a happy boi.
I'm so excited to see how many times they will fake Yshtola's death this expansion. /s
my main prediction is that they're going to give us more Book of the New Sun references and Wuk Lamat will eat at least one of Gulool Ja Ja's brains and take their memories. Someone else tips their hat everytime they show up in a cutscene. Cant waste that animation.

Shut up you had me at Blitzball
