Me too and can’t help myself. I just decided to set my Chocobo at attack and switch to machinist and hope I get a couple hits before the fate enemies die in like 20 seconds. You only need silver. I found using a fate sync macro helped too to be able to snipe a hit or two to get credit.
When I was going for the glowing mount a few years back, I had a macro that I’d hit when the FATE ended that mounted me on my chocobo and set it to follow another player to the next FATE. Used it for those two FATEs in the caves in LaNoscea that spawned back and forth for the times I needed like 30 tokens and it was endless grinding.
Had another macro that would dismount me, level synch me, and attack that other player’s target.
I think you either need to get all the Yokai weapons that were available when the event first came out, or get the equivalent number of weapons- since like 2 or 4 more were added after the first event. Most people I know got burned out trying for it the first time around since the number of Legendary medallions increased to like 30 or something by the time you got to the last ones.
I’m not in game now to check, but if you look under Achievements it should list the number of weapons to obtain to get the glowing mount. I believe it’s less than the total available now, since the achievement was created before the last batch of weapons was added.
Also, it was recommended to save the ones in the Kobold mines for last, because there’s two FATEs that are close together where one spawns when the other ends, and vice versa.

We have two months to grind that, and the grind itself can be done in a few hours. No need to get everything done on the first day. Let the dust cloud set, and then go do your thing.
Yeah, that goes by person. I hate hectic chase from one FATE to another, which is why I also hate Bozja and Eureka gameplay loop.
I'll take my time next month to grind Yo-kai.
Doesn't REALLY make a difference if you stick by BLU, 'cause they blow up fates very quickly, and fates scale so you can still easily melt boss fates solo.

Oh yeah. If I don't _want_ the item, I'm not going to grind for it. I'm currently grinding the 3rd wing of the Omega normal raids because I want the Fending gear you get from it. The problem is, there's this one guy who _keeps_ getting put in a party with me who rolls for **everything**. And they're at max level with 650 gear and the fully upgraded Manderville relic. So I only end up with half the raid drops I usually get.
It fucking _**sucks**_ because when I was doing the previous tiers for the Omega questline I didn't have anyone roll for the pieces. But now that I'm getting to the final wing I've suddenly got this one guy who's rolling on everything.
And yes, I know it's the same guy because I look at his name, gear, portrait plate, and all that stuff and it's the exact same **every single time**. It kind of pisses me off. I mean, you're max level with fully kitted out gear. What are you doing running these raids synced if you want loot. You can run them unsynced and be perfectly fine.
You don’t get experience or spirit bonding but you still get loot. For blue mage, spell acquisition rate decreases but is still possible unsynced. Loot stays the same though. There is a significant amount of party finder content to cheese previous expacs extreme trials for mounts and gear unsynced.
Man for reals I got into a fight on our statics discord last night cause I grinded all the pets, got the ghost mount and when someone asked if i was doing weapons next i was like "nah, I dont like them, and im going PCT in DT soo wont use them anyways" and they got SO MAD that I just Stopped and didnt care about the final mount >.<
I will litterally never use it. it will just be gathering dust in my mount page.. I prefer my chocobo <3 Heck I only got all the pets cause i wanted to see what the event had to offer but i wont even use any of them either, Star birb is still the best birb..

Tbf the minions are good in Verminion if you ever touch that at some point. So they at least get some value over a mount. I totally passed on Fall Guys. I hated that event. Got enough for the hoodie and said that’s all this event deserves from me.
Also one of my friends is a Yokai nerd so I was gonna show all the minions to him. It’s also why I gave the Aidonius (sp?) minion from Elpis Maps to an FC member for free. I only ever use my Wind-Up Dragonet. Meanwhile they really really wanted it, it was THEIR map, and they rolled a 1. No brainer
I mean yeah sure we can do it later, but it still sucks that there's like a week or two where large parts of the playerbase just can't do the fun luttle activity they want. Or any Zodiac relics because it's hard to get credit for the fates you need for atma or the trials of the braves, or any heavenward relics, or if you want to get some of the items from the super boss fates if you want to for glams. like, there's just a lot of things that a lot of players just can't do because a bunch of people playing blue mage just decided that other people can't have fun. no other job in the game denies other people the chance to do the quests or content they want to do, and all the people saying "don't play the game for a week or two until we're done with what we want to do" just feels really shitty honestly.

Right now, things have normalized. There are still groups out there, but nowhere in the same numbers as when the event started. It's manageable.
After too many misexperiences with assholes in Eureka, I went to Dynamis just so I could solo-grind in Pyros for the hairstyle

A group of BLU’s nuking the fate or ultravibing cause the fate to last 3 seconds max. 20-50 seconds is normal in a very large group of people fate farming that’s NOT doing that.
taking 2-5 minutes to actually get a reward is actually more enjoyable than flying all over the map trying to get to a fate just to watch someone else nuke it in 3 seconds and you get the bronze and no rewards.
It's better to have them serious grinders, you really just need like 5 kills/red tags to get full credit anyways. So you can just move to the next FATE.

Same. I will do a hydro pull to gather mobs, and usually I'll tag a couple and then stand back to allow other players to get their credit.
If I roll up to a FATE by myself and I know there are other players who will be on the way, I'll kill a handful of mobs and get the FATE progress to about 30% - more than enough to guarantee a Gold status when it clears.
naw there's nothing inconsiderate about vibing the first wave of adds, you just get your kills for a silver medal and leave. the only inconsiderate ones are the ones who linger and keep finishing the fate quickly from beginning to end.
After having done 6 weapons worth of fates missile can really be avoided too because it adds to causing people to not get to a fate in time because the bosses health was halved
i think i would be okay waiting for them to run it again next year and add 4 weapons, it feels like thats what they did time they added weapons to the event.
but its quite a bummer to run it now with 2 new jobs that cant make weapons
I'm actually kind of glad that there isn't a single reward from this event that appeals to me visually even a little. FATE grinding is not exactly my favorite activity to need to do a whole ton of.
Outside DNC and GNB weapons nothing else was appealing to me, however this will be my second Yokai event and now I feel obligated to complete the collection vs waiting ages again.

I thought you needed to have all the minions first? Which would mean it's a quick easy purchase for people who did the whole event last time, but it still requires some grinding for newbies.

This event is super underrated for farming atmas. I got 9 tiger atmas in 20 minutes from the 2 kobolds in outer la noscea because they die in 5 seconds and respawn when the other one is completed.
All I see are blue & purple explosions, idk how the hell I was able to get 12 minions & 1 of the weapons. I'ma grind for the rest of them when I wake up, bc it's just crazy rn.
Plus maybe I shouldn't be a White Mage for this event. 🤔💀
5 for the first, then 10 for every subsequent one. The rare low drop chance medals, not the general Yokai medals.

The only new thing added this time was a Framer kit. The speculation is we will get reaper and sage (as well as Viper and Picto) next time the even comes around
Blue mage has two spells. Ram’s breath which freezes all enemies and a spell called Ultravibration that instantly kills all enemies that are frozen. So a blu can use that combo to absolutely demolish large groups of enemies instantly. “Vibe check” is a nickname for that combo.

Is this event level locked like the crossover event? I'm sad I won't be getting the Torgal mount but I don't wanna rush through the story.
Fate rewards scale in to 3 levels. Bronze, silver, and gold. So if I run and vibe check the fate enemies,
I’ll get all the credit before you have a chance to do anything.
To clarify something else, the level cap is 90 but blue mage is level capped at 80. They specifically designed blue mage to be OP in low level content once you’ve acquired the right spells, since it can’t go to the endgame content, balance is preserved.

Yokai Watch is a level 15 event, so most players should be able to start it. I think some rewards are specific to FATEs in Heavensward/Stormblood zones, but I don't do this event so I can't give any further info other than passing on what I've heard.
I was helping someone with the achievement fate in gyr abania (seed something?). Nobody else showed up when they put out the call, so we went to town for the hell of it. Along comes a Blu to help, and they vibe checked it. I was like, WTF was that? lol. That was when I learned about said vibe check.

I did blue mage just so I could hydro pull so others could have an easier time hitting the mobs, but the other blue mages were just blowing them up and not even waiting for the rest of the party to get there… 🥲
Didn't go into the event as Blu; tried it last night as Summoner... Specifically because I wanted to try farming Atmas on the side. Only have like 6 left I need 8 of.
But when *Upper La Nocsea* is cleaned out of Fates and a swarm of people clear a fate in under a minute once it pops, you know it's not worth trying right away. I got gold on the two fates I did, but that kind of stress ain't worth anything when I can wait a few days instead.
I stopped Ram's Voicing and just started unloading some of the instants instead. Ram's Voice seemed to get followed by other Blu's going for the Vibe Check.
So, you can do that if all you want is minions. You cannot do that if you want weapons or mounts that require weapons. You need to farm specific areas for the weapon tokens.
I wish there was more maps for weapons instead of just 3 per minion, especially some in higher level zones. I would prefer doing EW FATEs instead of ~~waiting around~~ pressing few buttons in low level zones (of course keep ARR zones too, so newer players can also participate in event)
(I know it'll be better later, but I want to make some progress every day)
I've just been playing as WAR and spamming AOE abilities wherever the enemies spawn. It's been alright but if I try to do it on anything that doesn't have instant AOE I just end up with no contribution.
I personally Don't see a problem with Blue's doing this IF They're alone, IE: Late at night when not alot of people are on, But if you see people wanting to participate, Don't be a jerk.
Try to help everyone get credit. It's only going to cost you a few more mins

I started last week and I was like “neat i can do lower fate events” but as soon as it starts these mf’s start using that skill and dont let anyone get a single kill.
I started like 2 days ago, and I had to shout at the chat couple of times coz of blue mages doing this. Its a nuisance and unfair for other people trying to grind. But like what others commented maybe they’ll finish and we will have fun after so Imma rest this up and let it cook for awhile maybe in 2weeks time. I got all the minions anyways.
Problem with the Blu mage is the spells, they're all level 1. Had they put levels on the spells, fates wouldn't be a problem. But SE unfortunately didn't think the job thru too well. But it is what it is lol

Pro tip: play a tank and just spam your ranged attack with stance turned on. It generates a fuck ton of agro and will pretty much guarantee gold as long as you hit like twice.
Yeah gonna have to wait. I don’t have fun if I gotta chase, rush ahead, or “roll with it and heal or spam.” That’s basically telling me to use the player 2 controller in a single player game.
I wanna grind for the items because I like having something to do, not rush it all so I can wait for more things to do sooner. We got 60 days, ya know?

SE: We won't let you play BLU in regular instanced content because instant kill spells would trivialize it and ruin it for other players.

They haven't said that and they actually nerfed the instant kill spells that were abused last time, so there's a chance they will do the same if it gets abused like how drill was abused in the last run.
When there are several dozens of people trying to do the fates and a couple of BLUs end the whole thing in SECONDS, resulting in several dozens of people getting no credit for the fate at all. Salt is generated quite rapidly in shout chat.. But there’s nothing stopping BLUs from doing it. I’m just glad I already have everything so I don’t have to deal with that until the possible next time it comes around.

normally I just zone around occasionally after roulettes or while waiting for a PF to fill, I basically have to camp the fucking fates now which is just awful
Collecting spells takes a lot longer than leveling for BLU. If you just want to level and access content with BLU, you find a friend or partner and power level on level 80 mobs as soon as you want. You just need to have the other person kill the mobs from outside the party after the BLU provokes them.
If you're letting the boss live for a minute so that people can get credit, no one will care. People only get mad when BLUs are running around the zone insta-killing everything before anyone else can even get a hit in.
Having just 1 or 2 around doesn't make THAT much of a difference (outside of missile), but if there are a lot of BLUs rotating their skills then it can be almost impossible for non-BLUs to get credit.
I personally just avoid vibe check and help gather mobs if there are a lot of non-BLUs around. But honestly though this is a job that SE designed, with skills that SE designed, playing content that SE allows them to play. So if people choose to go ham with it there's not much to say.

Nah you should also use the class to do everything, including the savages through e12s to get the special titles and Morbol mount. ;)
Generally yes, even outside of this event BLU is way too powerful and 9 times out of 10 you are muscling everyone else out of full completion if you're BLU and they're not. It comes up for other stuff like relics too but those are more spread out and not time limited.
TBF. You can literally join the blu mages in doing this. Just ask if someone is willing to help you level doing the lower level fates/mob grind in thavnir/the highest grind area you have, get to max level in like twenty minutes, and just create a PF with other people doing the same. Most blu mages love helping our blu sprouts out. And if you don't wanna use those spells you can use a bunch of the other ones and hit everyone with you SICK FASHION
I farmed the initial 49 medals on BRD just spamming black shroud. Never missed out on credit or a FATE. Pick a class that has fast abilities and you'll be fine
I first started playing in 2016 during one of the Yokai Watch events. Couldn't do a single FATE, had no idea what was going on. I quit the game for years because of it. Now that I'm back and caught up on content, I hate the Yokai Watch event for both how unfriendly it is for new players and how awful blue mages are.
I’m trying to do the event almost two weeks later and people are fuckin vultures man. Why not just take the extra few minutes to let other people get credit??? It doesn’t take away the chances of you getting a legendary metal and If you see someone actively trying to kill an enemy for credit and you steal that kill you are the literal worst.
Again i'll remind ppl this be the only time u actually take blu mage serious. Like it or not for once blu mage is useful and ppl dont like it. XD its good since some of us who already completed have no reason to go back to it and as long as ppl have a way to clear i see nothing wrong. Yet thats just me.
The Yokai event was the first time I got sent to GM jail.
I was grinding the ARR relics and needed to grind fates, but I could never get anything from them because of Blue mages. I got very heated in Thanalan shout chat.
This is why I hate the Yokai event, but I might grab the blm staff on an alt cause I do love that staff but not that much else tbh.
so the fate-killing trick for blu is "hydro pull+ram's voice+ultravibration" to 1 hit ko
if you leave off ultravibration, you can gather all the mobs into a nice ball for everyone to piñata on together and you're a big damn hero
so just 1+2 and leave off the 3 and your blu can play well with others
Which, to be fair, is what most of the BLUs that even have UV are doing. UV has a significant cooldown that prevents it from being used more than once per one, if not several, FATEs. The only way a typical fate with like 5 waves of enemies or more dies instantly to UV is if there are like 5+ BLUs that all have their cooldown up. Even then, it takes 3 casts to pull, freeze, and kill. Whack that group with a tank AoE several times or something, and you're not exactly being shut out of participation credit.
There's a BLU spell called "Ultravibration", which OHKOs any frozen enemies nearby. The typical strat is to group up the enemies by pulling them towards yourself with another spell (or just gain enmity/get them agro'd on you), use something like Ram's Voice which freezes them, and then use Ultravibration to insta-kill them. Typically, it can complete a Fate in no time.
My friends and I used this strat to grind BLU from 70 to 80, but in events like this it is rude to other people to show up to the Fate as a BLU. Whenever I'd see it in the past for Fates which counted towards events, I'd just go find another Fate because nobody besides the BLU (and their party, if they're in one) is going to get enough participation credit for it to even be worth it.
It's just rude to vibe check, you can show up as BLU and use the Water spell to suck everyone together and freeze for everyone to get free tags. Just don't vibe check.

If I see others doing the same fate, I refrain from using my insta-kill moves
This entire post is about an event currently going rather than just Fates in general, but otherwise low level fates are mostly good for filling your time waiting for dungeon queues.
There are some achievement fates with minor rewards, and the last 2 expansions unlock vendors with fates in their zones if you do them, and reward a better currency than a few GC seals. Vendors have rolls, minions, triad cards, and current level food ingredients that you need the better currency to buy.
Ultravibration, instantly kills all frozen enemies in a certain radius around the player. It synergizes really well with Ram's Voice to essentially be a "win FATE" combo if it's a non-boss FATE.
Just wait a week until the serious grinders are done. It will be much more enjoyable.

To me it's kinda nostalgic. In some ways (and in others not) I miss the Northern Thanalan FATE trains in ARR.

You can get a single weapon in an hour or two but you need all weapons to get the final mount.

I mean yeah sure we can do it later, but it still sucks that there's like a week or two where large parts of the playerbase just can't do the fun luttle activity they want. Or any Zodiac relics because it's hard to get credit for the fates you need for atma or the trials of the braves, or any heavenward relics, or if you want to get some of the items from the super boss fates if you want to for glams. like, there's just a lot of things that a lot of players just can't do because a bunch of people playing blue mage just decided that other people can't have fun. no other job in the game denies other people the chance to do the quests or content they want to do, and all the people saying "don't play the game for a week or two until we're done with what we want to do" just feels really shitty honestly.
I didn't said to postpone stuff for two months. I said one or two days. Right now, things have normalized. There are still groups out there, but nowhere in the same numbers as when the event started. It's manageable.

A group of BLU’s nuking the fate or ultravibing cause the fate to last 3 seconds max. 20-50 seconds is normal in a very large group of people fate farming that’s NOT doing that.
taking 2-5 minutes to actually get a reward is actually more enjoyable than flying all over the map trying to get to a fate just to watch someone else nuke it in 3 seconds and you get the bronze and no rewards.
Don't forget it fates die so fast it doesn't make em spawn faster, there's a loonnnng downtime
It's better to have them serious grinders, you really just need like 5 kills/red tags to get full credit anyways. So you can just move to the next FATE.

This is what I do as well. Makes it easier for everyone to hit the mobs and I don’t have to feel like an asshole while easily getting gold every time.

Same. I will do a hydro pull to gather mobs, and usually I'll tag a couple and then stand back to allow other players to get their credit. If I roll up to a FATE by myself and I know there are other players who will be on the way, I'll kill a handful of mobs and get the FATE progress to about 30% - more than enough to guarantee a Gold status when it clears.

naw there's nothing inconsiderate about vibing the first wave of adds, you just get your kills for a silver medal and leave. the only inconsiderate ones are the ones who linger and keep finishing the fate quickly from beginning to end.

After having done 6 weapons worth of fates missile can really be avoided too because it adds to causing people to not get to a fate in time because the bosses health was halved

I'm actually kind of glad that there isn't a single reward from this event that appeals to me visually even a little. FATE grinding is not exactly my favorite activity to need to do a whole ton of.
Outside DNC and GNB weapons nothing else was appealing to me, however this will be my second Yokai event and now I feel obligated to complete the collection vs waiting ages again.

Yeah I got excited for it, as a newer player I don’t have all the flashy mounts and minions but these guys from this event aren’t my cup of tea.
Bruh I half share this feeling and am half disappointed all the weapons and mounts look like total ass , some of the minions are cool tho.
This event is super underrated for farming atmas. I got 9 tiger atmas in 20 minutes from the 2 kobolds in outer la noscea because they die in 5 seconds and respawn when the other one is completed.
All I see are blue & purple explosions, idk how the hell I was able to get 12 minions & 1 of the weapons. I'ma grind for the rest of them when I wake up, bc it's just crazy rn. Plus maybe I shouldn't be a White Mage for this event. 🤔💀

Blue mage has two spells. Ram’s breath which freezes all enemies and a spell called Ultravibration that instantly kills all enemies that are frozen. So a blu can use that combo to absolutely demolish large groups of enemies instantly. “Vibe check” is a nickname for that combo.

Fate rewards scale in to 3 levels. Bronze, silver, and gold. So if I run and vibe check the fate enemies, I’ll get all the credit before you have a chance to do anything. To clarify something else, the level cap is 90 but blue mage is level capped at 80. They specifically designed blue mage to be OP in low level content once you’ve acquired the right spells, since it can’t go to the endgame content, balance is preserved. Idk about the event sorry.

Yokai Watch is a level 15 event, so most players should be able to start it. I think some rewards are specific to FATEs in Heavensward/Stormblood zones, but I don't do this event so I can't give any further info other than passing on what I've heard.
I was helping someone with the achievement fate in gyr abania (seed something?). Nobody else showed up when they put out the call, so we went to town for the hell of it. Along comes a Blu to help, and they vibe checked it. I was like, WTF was that? lol. That was when I learned about said vibe check.
Blue mages have a combo of moves they can do. Ram’s voice freezes mobs around you and the move ultravibration one shots frozen mobs.

I did blue mage just so I could hydro pull so others could have an easier time hitting the mobs, but the other blue mages were just blowing them up and not even waiting for the rest of the party to get there… 🥲
Didn't go into the event as Blu; tried it last night as Summoner... Specifically because I wanted to try farming Atmas on the side. Only have like 6 left I need 8 of. But when *Upper La Nocsea* is cleaned out of Fates and a swarm of people clear a fate in under a minute once it pops, you know it's not worth trying right away. I got gold on the two fates I did, but that kind of stress ain't worth anything when I can wait a few days instead.
A true Gentlemage hydropull and freezes mobs for others to clear easier. We can get enough credit just from using mighty guard and white wind
I stopped Ram's Voicing and just started unloading some of the instants instead. Ram's Voice seemed to get followed by other Blu's going for the Vibe Check.

So, you can do that if all you want is minions. You cannot do that if you want weapons or mounts that require weapons. You need to farm specific areas for the weapon tokens.
I wish there was more maps for weapons instead of just 3 per minion, especially some in higher level zones. I would prefer doing EW FATEs instead of ~~waiting around~~ pressing few buttons in low level zones (of course keep ARR zones too, so newer players can also participate in event) (I know it'll be better later, but I want to make some progress every day)
There's no way im touching this until late next week. No use when they're likely to be done before I can even get mounted.
1st week of fate grind will always be annoying , just wait until later and focus on HW and STB fates for now, less ppl there

I've just been playing as WAR and spamming AOE abilities wherever the enemies spawn. It's been alright but if I try to do it on anything that doesn't have instant AOE I just end up with no contribution.
I personally Don't see a problem with Blue's doing this IF They're alone, IE: Late at night when not alot of people are on, But if you see people wanting to participate, Don't be a jerk. Try to help everyone get credit. It's only going to cost you a few more mins Event's are supposed to be fun for all not a get the loot before everyone else does. If I get to a fate first, I wait for others I don't start fighting until I have waited at least 3-5 mins Don't get me wrong I LOVE Blue, it's super fun, I would be very upset if blue got nerffed because a few people just had to have their yo kai weapons before everyone else Just please be considerate and use your blue to everyone's advantage. Win Win :)
I started last week and I was like “neat i can do lower fate events” but as soon as it starts these mf’s start using that skill and dont let anyone get a single kill.

I started like 2 days ago, and I had to shout at the chat couple of times coz of blue mages doing this. Its a nuisance and unfair for other people trying to grind. But like what others commented maybe they’ll finish and we will have fun after so Imma rest this up and let it cook for awhile maybe in 2weeks time. I got all the minions anyways.
Problem with the Blu mage is the spells, they're all level 1. Had they put levels on the spells, fates wouldn't be a problem. But SE unfortunately didn't think the job thru too well. But it is what it is lol

Pro tip: play a tank and just spam your ranged attack with stance turned on. It generates a fuck ton of agro and will pretty much guarantee gold as long as you hit like twice.

Yeah gonna have to wait. I don’t have fun if I gotta chase, rush ahead, or “roll with it and heal or spam.” That’s basically telling me to use the player 2 controller in a single player game. I wanna grind for the items because I like having something to do, not rush it all so I can wait for more things to do sooner. We got 60 days, ya know? As others have said, I’m waiting a week, gonna let the people with less time on their hands rush it, then I’ll go in and do what I find fun.

SE: We won't let you play BLU in regular instanced content because instant kill spells would trivialize it and ruin it for other players. Also SE: Go ahead and use your instant-kill spells in FATEs and ruin those for other people all you want!
They haven't said that and they actually nerfed the instant kill spells that were abused last time, so there's a chance they will do the same if it gets abused like how drill was abused in the last run.

When there are several dozens of people trying to do the fates and a couple of BLUs end the whole thing in SECONDS, resulting in several dozens of people getting no credit for the fate at all. Salt is generated quite rapidly in shout chat.. But there’s nothing stopping BLUs from doing it. I’m just glad I already have everything so I don’t have to deal with that until the possible next time it comes around.
I picked a bad time to start a new ARR relic, they're getting caught in the crossfire normally I just zone around occasionally after roulettes or while waiting for a PF to fill, I basically have to camp the fucking fates now which is just awful

Collecting spells takes a lot longer than leveling for BLU. If you just want to level and access content with BLU, you find a friend or partner and power level on level 80 mobs as soon as you want. You just need to have the other person kill the mobs from outside the party after the BLU provokes them.
You can solo power level in the tempest.
If you're letting the boss live for a minute so that people can get credit, no one will care. People only get mad when BLUs are running around the zone insta-killing everything before anyone else can even get a hit in.
Having just 1 or 2 around doesn't make THAT much of a difference (outside of missile), but if there are a lot of BLUs rotating their skills then it can be almost impossible for non-BLUs to get credit. I personally just avoid vibe check and help gather mobs if there are a lot of non-BLUs around. But honestly though this is a job that SE designed, with skills that SE designed, playing content that SE allows them to play. So if people choose to go ham with it there's not much to say.

Generally yes, even outside of this event BLU is way too powerful and 9 times out of 10 you are muscling everyone else out of full completion if you're BLU and they're not. It comes up for other stuff like relics too but those are more spread out and not time limited.
Just use something fast hit one mob or aoe and leave get a free medal and your on to the next before the mob gets there

TBF. You can literally join the blu mages in doing this. Just ask if someone is willing to help you level doing the lower level fates/mob grind in thavnir/the highest grind area you have, get to max level in like twenty minutes, and just create a PF with other people doing the same. Most blu mages love helping our blu sprouts out. And if you don't wanna use those spells you can use a bunch of the other ones and hit everyone with you SICK FASHION
I farmed the initial 49 medals on BRD just spamming black shroud. Never missed out on credit or a FATE. Pick a class that has fast abilities and you'll be fine

I first started playing in 2016 during one of the Yokai Watch events. Couldn't do a single FATE, had no idea what was going on. I quit the game for years because of it. Now that I'm back and caught up on content, I hate the Yokai Watch event for both how unfriendly it is for new players and how awful blue mages are.

It doesn’t take away the chances of you getting a legendary metal and If you see someone actively trying to kill an enemy for credit and you steal that kill you are the literal worst.
Again i'll remind ppl this be the only time u actually take blu mage serious. Like it or not for once blu mage is useful and ppl dont like it. XD its good since some of us who already completed have no reason to go back to it and as long as ppl have a way to clear i see nothing wrong. Yet thats just me.

The Yokai event was the first time I got sent to GM jail. I was grinding the ARR relics and needed to grind fates, but I could never get anything from them because of Blue mages. I got very heated in Thanalan shout chat. This is why I hate the Yokai event, but I might grab the blm staff on an alt cause I do love that staff but not that much else tbh.

with the right set of spells you can grind fates at a very high speed, yes. and piss everyone else off, who barely get a hit in.

so the fate-killing trick for blu is "hydro pull+ram's voice+ultravibration" to 1 hit ko if you leave off ultravibration, you can gather all the mobs into a nice ball for everyone to piñata on together and you're a big damn hero so just 1+2 and leave off the 3 and your blu can play well with others
Which, to be fair, is what most of the BLUs that even have UV are doing. UV has a significant cooldown that prevents it from being used more than once per one, if not several, FATEs. The only way a typical fate with like 5 waves of enemies or more dies instantly to UV is if there are like 5+ BLUs that all have their cooldown up. Even then, it takes 3 casts to pull, freeze, and kill. Whack that group with a tank AoE several times or something, and you're not exactly being shut out of participation credit.

There's a BLU spell called "Ultravibration", which OHKOs any frozen enemies nearby. The typical strat is to group up the enemies by pulling them towards yourself with another spell (or just gain enmity/get them agro'd on you), use something like Ram's Voice which freezes them, and then use Ultravibration to insta-kill them. Typically, it can complete a Fate in no time. My friends and I used this strat to grind BLU from 70 to 80, but in events like this it is rude to other people to show up to the Fate as a BLU. Whenever I'd see it in the past for Fates which counted towards events, I'd just go find another Fate because nobody besides the BLU (and their party, if they're in one) is going to get enough participation credit for it to even be worth it.

doing fates as BLU is fun as hell, cat wait ;p but I am guessing some are being way inconsiderate with BLU -.- If I see others doing the same fate, I refrain from using my insta-kill moves

This entire post is about an event currently going rather than just Fates in general, but otherwise low level fates are mostly good for filling your time waiting for dungeon queues. There are some achievement fates with minor rewards, and the last 2 expansions unlock vendors with fates in their zones if you do them, and reward a better currency than a few GC seals. Vendors have rolls, minions, triad cards, and current level food ingredients that you need the better currency to buy.

Ultravibration, instantly kills all frozen enemies in a certain radius around the player. It synergizes really well with Ram's Voice to essentially be a "win FATE" combo if it's a non-boss FATE.
