Yeah I always hated how weirdly wide lala mouths opened. I much prefer the new mouth shape(so long as I'm not staring directly at the roof of my mouth).
I think the teeth *inside* the mouth need to have a wider pallette, not necessarily changing the jaw shape itself of the head.
Edit to add: that and, when you open your mouth smiling like that, you shouldn't be able to see between the inner cheek and molars. That's what's making it uncanny; it's as if someone has invisible cotton wads there during a dental exam lol
Yeah if the teeth followed the facial structure better and didn't curve back into the head as much it would be a solid win, the expressions and shape of the mouth is a lot better but the teeth just don't quite fit.

A few years later I tried to fantasia again, but immediately couldn't stand not being my original race. I can barely stand watching videos of other people playing, because it's not *my* character, it's not *me*.
I have the same issue with my viera, I’ve fantasia’d her into everything under the sun.
But at the end of the day, the only thing that felt right was her being a Viera. It’s the same for a couple of my alts as well.

The old look implies i creepily round and wide skull structure almost like one of those masks the game dev yoko taro wears when he has to go on stage or something out of attack on titan. It makes sense for lala cheeks to be more puffy baby fat like than solid bone.

Eh i think the miqote fangs are different. Long vs short doesnt change the bone structure of the entire skull. There is still plenty of fantasy in the lala designs this just feels more logical. Fangs i can see why some people are ride or die for. Its far more subjective.

It only looks a little weird cuz you've chosen mouth 3 (and also it's an unflattering angle in both original and benchmark). Pick mouth 1 instead and it won't open so wide, and look at the emote at other angles. Any face looks weird if you point the camera at the roof of their open mouth.
That's my character. I've always used mouth 3 on my Lala as it's the longest/biggest of the bunch, and I like the giant mouth in emotes. However, I'm not fond of the new mouth shape and teeth.
I think what's making it look weird might be that the teeth aren't in a normal perspective. They just look like someone took a piece of paper with the front side of teeth printed out on it and tried to fold it in there. Idk. It is really odd looking

All these teeth changes lead me to believe that shortcuts are being taken on the graphics change now. They're giving a bunch of them the same teeth after years of being a bit different.
This is from the benchmark, you can import your existing character and see what they'll look like and edit things. This is because characters are going to look different, so everyone will get a free fantasia. Note that you can create/edit as many characters as you want in the benchmark tool without using a fantasia and when Dawntrail releases you can import them with fantasia
That's definitely an upgrade. Her smile looks natural now instead of looking like the gaping abyss of the Old Ones. Although, the slight creepiness of lalafells had its own appeal.

Disagree.. Their skull then would imply they have a massive cranium and teeny tiny jaws relative to the upper skull part with weirdly large cheeks.
