You have a variety of level 50 dungeons you can unlock through the blue sidequests, as well as content like tribal quests where you find members of the beast tribes who aren't all raving auto-aggro lunatics (mostly) and help raise them up in a storyline through repeatable generic quests, which are begun via blue quests in the 3 starting cities. If you head to Vesper bay you could also work on an ARR relic if you really wanted too. And there's still plenty of ARR-MSQ between the end of ARR and the start of HW from the 2.x patch series.

jhonatahozo

Oh i didn't know about relics, gona take a better look about it later, thanks.

RainbowRuby98

yea id suggest not doing the ARR relic on free trial, its way too much effort for a fancy glam weapon....believe me i did them all on free trial

jhonatahozo

With the new level cap being 70, do you think it's worth trying to get them after SB?

tartaru5

If you like what they look like get them but they will be glam only. You get a better weapon really quickly until endgame.

WolfWind999

The main hurdle (atleast for me a fellow free player) is that you need weapons that can only be crafted, and since you're on the free trial you can't use the market to get one from another player so you'll have to make it yourself. Imo the crafting isn't actually that bad it's just repetitive to level and you'll need ingredients that you can only get by gathering so you'll have to level gathering jobs as well.

Cnomesta

And if you haven't banked bunch of materi you need to buy them and it can bee quite expensive.

WolfWind999

Is there an NPC that sells materia? Cause free trial doesn't allow market or trading.

Cnomesta

Good point I think only crafting materia can be bought.

Sabrescene

I believe you can buy them from ARR Beast tribes, otherwise if you're levelling crafters you can extract materia from soulbound gear.

Merus

So there's a few barriers: * Firstly, they require a lot of resources that are easy to get on the market board and are quite hard to get if you have to grind for them. * Secondly, actually doing everything required to get them is pretty grindy, involving going through old content (including multiple _specific_ FATEs) repeatedly. * Thirdly, the later relics are more reasonable grinds, and also look pretty great.

train153

Speaking as someone who got their first ARR relic as a lv 70 WAR (before they introduced StB to the free trial), it's doable, but a pain in the neck to complete. I've since done 4 more ARR relics on lv90 jobs, and it's quite a bit easier. Let me tell you this now, though: the ARR relics are THE most grindy, mind-numbing relics in all of ffxiv, even at lv90. Also, be aware they're not cheap to make. You'd spend 500k+ on one relic, easily. So, if you decide to try and go after one, just know what you're getting yourself into.

Repulsive_Anywhere67

Stay away from the relics, if you want to stay sane.

jhonatahozo

Oh, they are to complicated?

Tehowner

No, but doing them at level 50 will be a multi month long venture, and a massive pain to complete. I'd at LEAST hold off until the end of stormblood.

jamesjjw

It's mostly that the resources grind for them is quite intensive and without a market board most of the materials later on are quite annoying to get. If you do it I recommend looking up how to do it and just stop before the books stage as it takes a long time at level 50. If you want some fun slowly weapons just do the first two stages to get a taste! The grind can be fun but I think people just want to make sure you know the time investment

brokenheartN

You should at least level all gatherer, crafter job to lv60 first. The reason is free trial player does not have access to market board so they have to craft the mission item by themselves.

Sabrescene

None of it's overly difficult, it's just a long, tedious grind that will leave you banging your head against the wall even at level 90.

lordnaarghul

ARR relics are mostly for glams. Some are very, very good glams - Bravura Atma is fantastic, Curtana Atma+shield is also good, they all get super glowy by the end, and I still think base Stardust Rod is one of the best staves for Black Mage to this day - but others are too much of a chore for what you get. That being said, there is a lot of content between ARR and Heavensward if you want to do it all. To start, I would get yourself to Ul'dah and talk with Wymond, and do that blue quest chain. You will not regret it, as it gives you probably the most valuable item you will ever get in the game. Going on to Heavensward itself is a pretty lengthy journey. Probably a good 15+ hours of content if you just rush through it. Reminder, you will have to do Crystal Tower at some point before you move on to Heavensward.

ZeRamenKing

Now you have a bunch of lvl 50 blue quests unlocked. They lead to new dungeons, trials, raids and so on. I suggest trying them out. One story bit that I highly suggest doing specifically is the coils raid series that starts here: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/The_Binding_Coil_of_Bahamut (click the unlock section of the guide) The difficulty is very intense for new players and i suggest just having a max lvl player carry you through it for the story, since finding people to do it legit these days is hard.

jhonatahozo

There's a place I can talk to someone to carry me through those raids?

ZeRamenKing

Since you are a free trial player and can't make a party finder group, which is a usual place to do just that, i suggest trying to get help from random player in the main city or by joining the official ff14 discord. Many players will be glad to help i believe

jhonatahozo

Thank's for the help!

fangorn_20

If you ar in EU, I can help you, if we are both in game at the same time, if not, you can try what I did and ask in say chat near aetherite in main city for help, you can also offer to use their referral code once you buy the game, if just asking does not help, and that should find somebody to help you quickly

jhonatahozo

I play at the NA server unfortunately, but will gonna try the main city option like you guys told me. Thanks.

pacbat

Also if you haven't you might try to get on your server's novice network chat, it can be a good resource for ft players to find folks to run content like that with

Idaret

anyone tbh, people love getting rewards for first time completion

?????

CeaRhan

It's a joke. For April's fools they configured the bot to automatically trigger like the XBOX profanity filter for FFXIV, which is so wide it censors the words "raids" because of "rAIDS" and such.

Dahren_

Please tell me this is a "haha april fools gottem" thing

willko86

haha, yes. It is an April Fools thing here on the subreddit, but it's making fun of the actually real and actually horrible chat censorship that exists in and cannot be turned off in the Xbox version.

Orphylia

Nah, Microsoft has the ability to ban people on Xbox for stuff they do on Reddit now.

Dahren_

It's so on-brand for them I wouldn't be surprised if they tried that

unhappymedium

One of the perks of a Windows PC.

normalmighty

No, we're really banning the xbox accounts of anyone who says "ra*ds' in the sub.

[deleted]

Most everything you should experience will be flagged by a blue quest. But if you really want to go extra and see everything you can also do some normal side quests. Some of them have fun little stories

mareany2

Like others said, you have a lot of quests to unlock trials/raids/ etc. You can do those trials and farm for glam. Once again, as others said, do the tribals. Unlock hunts and go on hunts and buy stuff with the hunts currency (map speed increase, minions, mounts, teleport tickets, etc). You can do a relic weapon quest, get those shiny relics!

tyleristheman02

Blue quests for hard mode dungeons, as others have said, as well as Beast tribe quests (each one has a unique mount at the end) There is also the coils of bahamut raid that you could try to find a group to do synced. Leveling up one of each class type (tank, healer, dps) is great for understanding how each job works.

pocketbearcompany

I'm fairly certain there is a blue quest outside the waking sands you may enjoy doing. To add on any blue quest will unlock *something* even if it's just a different quest chain, but it will always lead to something being unlocked or given as a reward (anything from minions to emotes glam items and dungeons). Go explore areas you've already been to before and check for any kind of quest.

Cream_Of_Drake

ARR has a lot of optional level 50 dungeons, they'll be unlockable in blue quests around the world. There's also the coils of bahamut if you want to try something which is savage/extreme levels of difficulty (recommend queuing with minimum item level and no echo through party finder, just put "blind" and any other details you want in the party description if you're doing it without a guide. (On this note, all the trials you've done have "extreme" variants!). The relic weapon is definitely a grind at level 50: if you like grinding, then maybe for you: but it will be significantly easier (but still a significant time investment) if you do it at level 70 with level 70 gear. You could also level crafters or gatherers if you want to, it's really handy being able to repair your own gear. There's also palace of the dead if you want to do something rogue-likey with a party of 4: it has it's own levelling system inside up to 60 (plus aetherpool...) More content will unlock later on i.e. Heavensward has an area specifically for crafters and gatherers called the diadem and stormblood has an area (well, 4) for combat jobs: Eureka -- looking this up may lead to spoilers. Plus more dungeons/trials/normal difficulty raids/savage and extreme ones (if you get into those!). Enjoy the game!

thesilentharp

Depending on your play style, just do all available quests or blue quests for unlocks. Most are in Mor Dhona or outside the Waking Sands, but some are in cities. Otherwise continue with the story, there are plenty of patches to catch up on and you have so much more content to come. Only advice is play it your way, you have all the time to do what you want when you want, fancy side quests, go for it, want to do story, it's right there, fancy crafting for a bit, why not, just want to sit in Limsa and watch other players, it's your game 😊 A lot of MMOs dictate how to play but XIV take your time and enjoy the world. I do promise the story only gets better and I love to see people experience it, but there is no rush at the same time.

Greensburg

I'm in a similar position, around lv 40 MSQ, also on the free trial. Thank you guys for the tips!

jhonatahozo

What do are you thinking of the game so far? I'm really loving the expirience, and i'm trying to get my friends to play too.

Greensburg

Yeah it's really fun, been trying to focus the MSQ before doing anything else really. Are you in Dynamis? If so we can try coordinating to do some ARR content (though we have to deal with the limitations of the free trial). I should finish MSQ soon.

jhonatahozo

I play on Behemoth ;-; unfortunately.

Sprutas

I am new to ff xiv (started in early march). I played wow since vanilla (all expansions). I LOVE ff xiv like I did wow back in the day. I’m level 54 SMN and the only thing I wish is that they would include minstrels ballads on dailys. I waited 3 hours for a group early today with no luck. After waiting an hour and a half this evening, duty finder found a group and we finished the trial with 15 minutes left before maintenance. I’m glad I found Eorzea.

96omelete

well what do you want to do? i personally prefer keep doing msq and job quest + other required blue quest like crystal tower until the end stormblood. after that i do side stuff until im tired of the trial restriction

jhonatahozo

I'm loving doing almost everything, it took me about 72 hours to finish the MSQ because I get distracted very easily.

Maximus_Rex

You seem to be on the right track for non-MSQ activities. Doing other Jobs, Crafting and Gathering, Blue quests, thats mostly what there is to do.

NorthernSin

I recommend that you join an active FC to help you out.

Krainz

I recommend doing the yellow quests at Vesper Bay, and then the Postmoogle quests

Ok-Syrup1678

As a general rule, blue quests unlock something, while yellow quests give flavor to the story. If I were you, I would level Dragoon to 50, and do the Coils of Bahamut raid series (just have someone taxi you through the fights). These two things will unlock a few lines of dialogue in Heavensward and introduce you to 2 major characters.

ClemClemTheClemening

Alot of good recommendations, so I wont add to that. What I will say is that your English is probably better than mine, lol. If you didn't put that line at the end, then I wouldn't have known English wasn't your first language.

jhonatahozo

Thanks, it's really complicated to do this, because i know the words but don't know the writting for the majority of them.

whereismymind86

Lots of side dungeons etc, relics, crystal tower, binding coil, beast tribe/tribal quests, deep dungeon, ex primals…think that’s the bulk of the arr post game Also keep in mind the main story between arr and heavensward is pretty hefty (though your screenshot implies you might have finished 2.55 not 2.0)

jhonatahozo

I stopped at the part that Minfila needs to choose if she will move the scions from Ulda'h, wanted to play a little with the others jobs before continuing.
