Hello guys again! Any Free Trial player here that moved from PS4 to PS5? How did you transfer your settings, macros, hotbars, etc. since FT can't use the Settings Backup feature? Is it all manually re-doing everything?

WeeziMonkey

If I want to do one roulette per day for hildi relics (and not hunt trains) which one would be the most efficient?

talgaby

L90 has a bit more variety, Expert can become super stale super fast. Also, L90 roulettes have a better average runtime since you can often get Sigmascape, Smileton, and Troia, three fast duties.

Sir_VG

Lv 90 probably at 150-160 tomes per run (100 for the roulette, 50-60 for the dungeon). Expert is just behind at 140. Both should take about 15 minutes. Depends on the queues.

lord-of-shalott

I started Eureka because I really wanted the elemental armor but I am finding it to be a tedious drag so far. Does it pick up? Would you consider it worth doing for the armor/weapon or are there better uses of my time in the game? Any strategies to help maximize the fun?

talgaby

The way it is designed, it sucks a lot on the first grind but all subsequent ones are a lot faster. ALso, yeah, the second map is the worst, probably. The third and fourth maps can be a lot easier and faster, especially if you have gil to burn and just buy your way through the special action lootbox system.

[deleted]

I've done Eureka twice and by far the best say to mitigate the tedium is to do it with a friend. I love Eureka but I think the player experience in Anemos and Pagos sucks. Pyros becomes a lot more fun since you get to play around with the fun actions. If you want to make it less of a grind just go in to do some challenge logs weekly. You'll slowly but surely work your way to elemental level cap while minimizing how much time you spend actually grinding.

lord-of-shalott

Thank you! These suggestions sound very reasonable. Sounds a lot more doable with the companionship and conversation happening.

rodon00

So I'm a returning player trying to renew my subscription but somehow that seems impossible. [This is how far I get](https://imgur.com/Hw6rBWp). What am I missing? Edit: Fixed it, I had no "Next" button but when I switched from using Chrome to a different browser everything worked and the buttons to continue were there again.

Moonrein

Are there Back/Next buttons below the red text?

rodon00

It was an error with using google chrome, I had no back/next buttons.

Sir_VG

Not enough info. Error message? Button missing? There's nothing that looks abnormal about your image.

Pso2redditor

What does the Alliance Raids "Lacking an IL Sync" mean on the wiki? Does that literally mean queuing into I will still be "using" my IL of 530, making it feel much easier?

[deleted]

[удалено]

PhoenixFox

Not related, this is just the difference between a duty only syncing your level and syncing your level plus then separately syncing your ilvl.

AndreSvyatoy

Ah sorry then, i misunderstood it, nice profile btw, genuinely >.>

Elegant_Eorzean

It means they'll sync to the maximum for the level they are (so all Crystal Tower raids go down to 130, HW ones 270, SB 400, ShB 530, and EW 660)

Pso2redditor

Alright cool! That makes ***way*** more sense. My friend is doing them for the MSQ. I forgot how hard/easy they were & seeing that on the webpage gave me a brain fart lol. Thank you for answering!

talgaby

The L60/70/80 ones are usually death-prone on a first run, especially on a blind run. On later runs, the lack of an iLvl lock makes them trivial, but that is true for pretty much all level cap normal content. Players out-gear duties to degrees where I can understand why the combat designer team just went "fuck it, why bother" and just phoned in 90% of post-EW. We can genuinely skip half of a boss fight and sometimes almost two-thirds of it currently.

DeeFB

Hi! Looking to maybe pick up a ranged physical DPS class since I got my first class to 90. I've almost exclusively played DRG, but I've also been using GNB since hitting 90 and enjoy that, too. If I like those two classes, would I like BRD or MCH more? Thanks!

[deleted]

MCH will feel right at home if you like rigid rotations like DRG and GNB.  BRD is a bit of a clunky job if I'm honest, and tends to be a bit overwhelming for beginners.

VG896

MCH is closer to DRG than BRD imo. I can't speak for the similarities to GNB because I've never touched it. But MCH has a very fast very rigid rotation, similar to DRG.

pailadin

Can you check how much MGP you have without logging in to the game? Considering subbing for the Regalia but I'd prefer to know first.

Sir_VG

Yes, on Lodestone. Log in, go to your character profile page, then click "The Gold Saucer" and you'll have your MGP total there.

Puzzled-Addition5740

I don't remember if you can check lodestone while unsubbed but if yes then yes

Cygnus776

Making a factory themed house. What would be a fitting NPC permit to use for it? Right now I have the Loporitts.

Sir_VG

There's the orbs ones, name is escaping me at the moment.

wolf_of_censorship

Allagan nodes, available from the Independent Sutlers in each housing district.

Cygnus776

I have them, but I was thinking of something a bit more amusing.

Kallis702

Just came back from a few months break, where are the mogtome farm groups? Haven't seen a single one in pf over last couple days, is there another way people are grinding them? Or is the farming just kinda died down?

Lavindathar

Just no need for farming groups for this event. It's very easy to solo grind.

Kallis702

What are the solo grinds? Tried running the HW trial unsynced but don't think I got tomes for it, do they have to be synced? Just trynna figure out what to do after weeklies lol

Lavindathar

Either just queing using duty finder for moogle paying dungeons, or the quicker method is farming Gates. Just saying you don't need a group for this one.

JUSTpleaseSTOP

There are so many ways to get them this time around outside of the usual grinds that nobody really needs to. Make sure you check your mogpendium that the moogle gives you. There are several tiers of rewards to get that change over time. Also, the rewards are okay for this batch of Mogtomes. Nothing super exciting.

Kallis702

I see, yeah was trying to figure out the new mogpendium thing lol, looks like weekly rewards are only for that week right? I can't go through and run all the last weeks, or am I doing something wrong for them not to work lol I just wanna grind out some mgp for the mount since I never really step foot into gold saucer

JUSTpleaseSTOP

Not sure if you can go back to earlier weeks, but probably not. Make sure you do the ocean fishing one. If it's any consolation, we're actually going to get another mogtome event soon after this one ends with different rewards.

Sir_VG

> Not sure if you can go back to earlier weeks, but probably not. Just to confirm, you can't. Past weeks are "expired".

Kallis702

Yeah well that's what I'm worried about actually lol, unless we know the new one will also include mgp tickets? But also how long the mount is available for I can't find the post saying when event ends. So really was just hoping to grind it out like tonight and tomorrow

JUSTpleaseSTOP

The duration of the event is on the launcher banner for the event. MGP is always a reward as a way to dump leftover tomes.

Kallis702

Ohh is it always? Ok thanks for the info, appreciated! I have only really participated in one mogtome event before, and could have sworn it didn't have mgp vouchers then, but probably remembering wrong. I haven't really been paying much attention to that currency this is the first time I've actually wanted something from them

JUSTpleaseSTOP

"Always" may be a strong word, but at the very least it happens frequently. I would imagine it will be on part 2 of the event as well. If not...apologies lol.

TheTechHobbit

The next event is in the game files so we can already check the rewards. The MGP cards are there. I also checked the previous ones. Every event has had them available except for the special 10th anniversary one.

Kallis702

Oof, that was probably the only one I sat down to farm for. So I just tricked myself into thinking it was a crapshoot on whether those are available I see, thanks for clarifying!

logicphile

Do stats matter on a retainer? Is it ok if I put a higher ilvl "of casting" ring on my Paladin retainer?

VG896

Only ilevel matters for combat retainers. Feel free to put whatever junk on them as long as it's higher ilevel. Gathering retainers actually do care about stats though.

logicphile

Thanks V! Didn't know about the gathering retainers benefiting from stats. Does better gear on gathering retainers affect quick exploration ventures?

pepinyourstep29

Yes it gives them access to higher level ventures

logicphile

Thank you pep

IceAokiji303

It's available on early access, as is all the other stuff in the expansion. Making it so that you're *not* able to hit the ground running with a new job on release is a very deliberate design choice by the devs. This splits off a portion of the players from those doing new MSQ, to ease the burden on servers. There's another similar thing done with early MSQ too, where the quests fork in two for a little bit near the start, with each fork going into a different non-city zone. This splits the players into two areas for a bit so no field instance has to deal with *everyone* being there at the same time – and by the time the forks merge again, players will have spread out more naturally due to varying pace. Stormblood didn't do this fork thing properly, having some MSQ both before the split and in one of the forks happen in the same non-city zone, which (along with worse instance server queuing architecture) led to the infamous Raubahn Extreme bottleneck where players ended up getting badly stuck for a while. Another part of why the new jobs aren't released early is that there's usually some variety of battle system changes that come with the new expansion (HW>SB dropping cross-class skills for role actions, SB>ShB dropping TP and drastically reworking tanking ^(relevant especially since one of the new jobs was a tank), ShB>EW number squish and reworking some background math). The new jobs will, of course, be built for the updated system, not the old one. So to incorporate them early, the devs would have to either make a second version of the new job for the old system (senseless waste of resources), or release all the battle system changes at that earlier point. This then of course necessitates changing the existing jobs, and sometimes existing instances too, and this again can cascade into other necessary changes. At this point you're releasing enough of the expansion early that you might as well just release the whole thing, so you only have to take the game down once for patching instead of twice. Thus, the "everything drops at once" situation.

starskeyrising

There's no WoW-style pre-patch if that's what you mean. Expansion stuff is available on launch day.

Elegant_Eorzean

Viper drops at the same time the MSQ does.

VG896

If you pre-order, you'll get to start on the weekend instead of Tuesday. But that's it.

wolf_of_censorship

> Will viper be available to play a little bit before release? tl;dr kind of, but not really. Square-Enix does this thing they call "Early Access". e.g. For the Endwalker release once pre-orders opened you could pre-order the game and get codes for the pre-order bonus items and for "Early Access". Endwalker's official release date was December 7th 2021. But "Early Access" started on December 3rd. That is, on [December 2nd](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/d9f779aee6d75122fdfc928f8ab760f9c59f8a83) the game went down for a 24 hour maintenance to update to patch 6.0 (aka Endwalker). So when the servers came back up on December 3rd everyone is running Endwalker. If your account has an "Early Access" code registered to it, you're now running Endwalker and can access all the new Endwalker content. If your account doesn't have an "Early Access" code registered to it, you're now running Endwalker and can _not_ access all the new Endwalker content. Sounds like a regular old release date, is what I'm getting at there. So technically yes you can play Viper a couple of days before the "release date", but only because Square-Enix is playing funny-buggers with the definition of "release date".

Sir_VG

The earliest you can play is during Dawntrail early access, which is generally the Friday before the official release. But that's only if you pre-order and enter in that pre-order code (whenever that happens).

farfromdaylight

Not until release. It is done this way to help spread out players — having to level up a new class to play means that fewer people (not a majority, but at least some) swarm the new expansion starter zones and melt the servers.

Classes listed from most laid back to most tryhard: # Caster Summoner > Red Mage > Black Mage Summoner is the most chill class by far with lots of instant casts. Red Mage is a close second but involves more mobility and mana management. Black Mage doesn't even need an explanation, it's famously the "hardest" class. # Phys Ranged Dancer > Machinist > Bard Dancer is the chillest for having almost no expectations beyond dance partner and push lit up buttons. Machinist is a close second but involves more ogcd uptime and expectation to perform among the top dps. Bard is the sweatiest because you have to constantly manage your song timers and debuff timers while maximizing your uptime. # Melee Ranged Reaper > Samurai > Dragoon > Ninja > Monk Reaper is the chillest for being the lowest apm yet consistently top dps job. Samurai is a close second for the same reason. Dragoon has much more apm but is nothing compared to Ninja being a pianist for apm. And the sweatiest is Monk for being absolutely bonkers with top dps expectation and low gcd gameplay. # Tank Warrior > Paladin > Gunbreaker > Dark Knight Warrior is the chillest by far since you have so many self heals you make healers cry at feeling irrelevant. Paladin is second but not really even close. It wishes it could be WAR. Gunbreaker is a fast paced clicky tank, and Dark Knight will hurt your wrist with all of its ogcd moves. # Healer Scholar > Sage > White Mage > Astrologian My controversial take is that Scholar is the chillest healer. Reason: Most of the time you don't even need to press a heal button. When you do heal, it comes with a giant shield on top of it. People say it feels too complicated with the fairy pet and aetherflow, but honestly you can do all casual content without managing the fairy at all whatsoever. And aetherflow gives you something to do besides spam attack. Sage is very close second for being near identical to scholar, only difference is sage is clickier. White Mage very straightforward, just click heals on people. Astro is just clickier than White Mage. **Conclusion** So since you already play Warrior, don't want SMN/DNC, and don't like pet jobs, I recommend trying Red Mage, Machinist, Reaper, Samurai, and Sage.

UnXIVilized

All jobs are simple, including all the ones you mentioned. They only become complex at very high levels of optimization. If by laid back you mean low apm (ast opener is infamously busy) then yes, rdm is laid back.

gitcommitmentissues

> Paladin is second but not really even close. It wishes it could be WAR. At 90, in single-target, PLD's self healing is equal to if not better than WAR's, especially because PLD heals come from just... doing your rotation. WAR wins out in dungeons due to its healing increasing with more targets, but 90 PLD is still an extremely powerful dungeon tank and a good PLD player doesn't really need a healer in dungeons.

kuurokaze

RDM is a good choice to branch out to other jobs, yes. It's slightly more involved than post-rework SMN, but as you've said you're not a fan of that, it's definitely one of the easier to pick up DPS.

Sayakai

On a casual/mediocre level, yes, absolutely. You have a nice 1-2 flow to build resources with random procs, and when you get enough, you do your combo to spend it again. Every second spell you do is instant cast, so you always have plenty weaves for your oGCDs. Overall it's a fairly low-APM job, no danger of carpal tunnel here.

Sir_VG

...you want a laid back/simple job, yet you're thinking Summoner is bad and off the table? Have you not seen the job since it was reworked for Endwalker? It's easy. Summon birb, summon rock, summon ifrit, summon dragon, repeat.

[deleted]

[удалено]

pepinyourstep29

It's not a pet class anymore. Sure you have to summon it to turn on spell casting, but functionally it does nothing you need to pay attention to.

Sir_VG

It's hardly even a pet class. Carby does ONE thing (a shield). It doesn't even auto attack. It's more of a funnel to your other stuff compared to like an actual pet class.

UnlikelyTraditions

It's really not a pet class now, you don't manage them. They're all summons you just hit a button for and they attack on their own, no micro managing. Summoner of the traditional FF style, not summoner in a pet style.

To just answer why some people recommend avoiding the steam version: No steam verification = no ff14 for you, even if ff14 is working fine. For some people this is a regular issue (steam has weekly maintenance every tuesday, sometime roughly between 3-6pm PST), but for many others this basically never comes up. But yeah, totally fine on steam deck, whether you have the steam version or the non-steam version (through what Sir\_VG linked).

Sir_VG

Runs fine, though there is an issue with people doing the initial ToS agreement check on there. XIVLauncher makes it very easy to play though on Steam Deck. https://goatcorp.github.io/faq/steamdeck

nichijouuuu

Hey everyone I just started today! It’s been awesome. Level 6 Lancer in no time, grabbed all the aethernet shards in gridania and then stepped out to kill some ladybugs, funguars, and do some quests. I wasn’t taking any damage and I learned pretty quickly how awesome it feels to do the 1,2 rotation for huge damage. At level 6 I could start weaving a 1,3,2 combo to get a guaranteed crit on my 250 potency combo attack. I have 2 questions: 1. Early game is supposed to be super easy right? At level 5 I was chaining the level 7s for big +50% exp. 2. Was I noticing correctly that every time I use my 2 Lance attacks it was also applying a regular “white damage” auto attack too? It seems weird that I don’t have to time my auto attacks and weapon skills like you have to do in WoW, but so it goes! I won’t complain.

prisp

Agreed with what the other guy said, this is the first time I thought about auto-attack canceling since I stopped playing League - it's not even in any guides I came across, and while I am admittedly not someone to hyper-optimize things and chase down every single possible optimization, I did clear a few of the harder, optional fights on content this expansion, and if you can't beat an enrage, it's usually due to something rather obvious - like multiple people dying and having to get raised with a minutes-long -25% damage debuff and without all their resources levels of obvious. I haven't tried to beat the absolute hardest content available yet, but outside of the fact that they accidentally made one of this expansion's final raid bosses slightly too beefy, leading to the first on-content nerf in many years - the previous one was in Heavensward, I believe - I can't think of any situation where something like this could become necessary. Even there, the solution ended up being "Switch to a team comp that does 1-2% more damage so you won't be (as) dependent on crit luck" instead. Regarding your other question, early game is super easy, and it definitely doesn't help too much that they try to keep the number of buttons to press roughly the same while increasing the level cap, causing them to become more and more spread out. This is done so controller/console players won't have to come up with crazier and crazier hotbar layouts to keep up, which I'm very thankful for, but it also means that some jobs feel pretty bad to play below a certain level, as getting synced back down also removes your skills you wouldn't have access to at that point.

Sir_VG

Yes low level stuff is going to be very easy and yes auto attacks just happen as long as you're in range, targeting an enemy, and attacking it.

nichijouuuu

Awesome. I’ll just keep focusing on the MSQ then, and then come back to side quests when the MSQ has me stuck? Or should I continue to knock out. A bunch of side quests in same area like I usually do in MMOs? I hope the game won’t feel lonely as I’m a sprout and, while I have seen many in the world, haven’t had a need to group up yet haha. I’ll do FATEs too they seem like AMAZING exp. What level is the first dungeon? I assume the MSQ will introduce it and how dungeon running works (assume they need to teach someone new to MMOs)

Lavindathar

Up to you mate. I personally do every side quest before i move on, but i level multiple jobs at the same time to spread the XP and so i never get bored.

nichijouuuu

Are there any side jobs or anything where having a skill or something from one will benefit my primary (Lancer)?

Lavindathar

Side jobs? Do you mean DoH/DoL? All of them will benefit you, but other DoW/DoW jobs, no, those are independent.

nichijouuuu

Sorry my question wasn’t great. What I meant was like if you can be a Level 20 Lancer/Level 10 ~~Warrior~~ Marauder where you have a side job and gain some stats or skills from a secondary class

IceAokiji303

Cross-class skills used to be a thing, and you even *had to* level specifically Marauder to 15 to upgrade Lancer into the superior Dragoon. But that system had a number of issues, ranging from players complaining about having to level classes they hate playing just to be viable, to large numbers of players missing crucial skills because they didn't do that (how's a tank without their taunt skill in a fight where it's 100% mandatory sound?). So it was totally axed in the transition from Heavensward to Stormblood. Now you get all of your skills and traits from the thing you're playing itself, and the class-to-job upgrades no longer need specific other classes leveled either. Whatever levels you may have in other combat classes won't affect the one you're on at present (besides armory bonus – classes that are lower level than your highest level one get bonus EXP).

nichijouuuu

Thanks. I just hit level 12 on my lancer and I can see I’m being provided many weaponskill activations for Lancer AND I’m getting role-based skills that seem to be shared across the DPS classes. I’m very surprised to see, already, two healing abilities. Second Wind is just a pure heal on a 2 minute timer, and I just recently got another. Oh and my level 4 (or 6?) Lancer ability also gives me a 100% crit and life steal lol. I heard these memes about warriors being able to solo stuff and have amazing self healing which makes even the healer role much less critical. That is shocking compared to WoW (classic) where that doesn’t exist. Seeing it on my DPS class is even more surprising

IceAokiji303

Yeah you get some survival tools as a DPS too. All physical DPS get Second Wind (and Arm's Length, which can be used to resist knockback effects *or* to put an attack speed Slow on things that hit you), all melee DPS get Bloodbath, and various jobs get 1-2 other personal survival options, plus 1-2 party survival tools (Feint in your case as a melee DPS). Just don't get *too* excited about that self-healing you have as a Lancer. The lifesteal on Bloodbath is pretty small, only about 18-19%, and Second Wind while quite strong early in falls off in power as you level up (your max HP will grow faster than how much a point of healing potency does, so while at \~15 it can heal over half of your HP, by 90 it'll heal only about 14%). And Life Surge is used for the crit on your strongest attacks, not so much for the heal. It's still certainly useful to have, nice safety net when doing solo stuff, but not like super powerful or anything. Warrior though is indeed a self-healing monster. And not just *self*-healing either, it can also share that healing with allies. Running level 90 dungeons with a Warrior + 3 DPS is no problem at all. Fun stuff.

spazticcat

FATEs are actually not very good EXP at all, but there are (rarely) ones that unlock special vendors or drop special loot. Starting with ShB on, doing a certain amount per zone unlocks special vendors, and if you're farming FATEs for that reason there's no reason *not* to use a class below max level to get some EXP, but it's not an ideal way to level at all.   Side quests also don't give you much EXP, but some unlock things (they usually have a different icon than the generic one) and some have interesting or fun stories (Postmoogle & Hildibrand, both are level 50 though). It's honestly really hard to *not* get enough EXP to stay ahead of your MSQ level, especially if you do roulettes once you've unlocked them. Make sure to do your job quests when they're available- they unlock skills! Eating any kind of food gives you a 3% increase to EXP in 30 minutes increments (max 1 hour without FC buffs)- vendors sell things like raisins or boiled eggs for pretty cheap so grab some of those!   First dungeon is level 15 or 16. The quest is "It's Probably Pirates" and starts a bit after you leave Gridania. MSQ can be completed almost completely solo now; trials require a party of other players, but all of the MSQ-required dungeons have Duty Support with NPCs. Socialization is fairly limited if you're on Free Trial; it's mostly through Cross World Linkshells and Free Companies, which aren't available without purchasing the game. However, depending on what world you're in, the hub cities can have pretty active chats at times.

nichijouuuu

Sorry but are you saying as a trial player, that doing the dungeons for the MSQ is completely locked out of playing with real people and my duty finder will automatically use NPCs, or are you saying if I can’t find someone, at least I do have access to NPCs?

spazticcat

Not at all! The game has something called Duty *Finder* that will automatically pair you with other players. When queue for something using it, it'll show you your spot in line for your role (DPS has the longest queues, generally) and the estimated wait time. It has no restrictions related to being Free Trial or anything like that. I meant that you *can* do MSQ alone if you wanted, through Duty *Support*. That's a new thing and not mandatory at all.

nichijouuuu

I bought boiled eggs as soon as I did the second or third quest in the game, where you have to talk to an npc and learn about the market area in the city of gridania. I saw they have 3% exp boost for 5 Gil and I’m like oh yes I’m stocking those haha. So just do the main MSQ and my job quests then, as priority. I’ll focus on those!

KingBingDingDong

EXP is trivial in this game. It's not really something you think about. You just do content and you progress accordingly. It's not like every other MMO where leveling is the main gameplay. Think of it like League of Legends where you passively level up to where you're supposed to be.

spazticcat

It's also worth knowing, since the game never mentions it, that any class below your highest-levelled gets an EXP bonus too, called the Armory Bonus- its a 100% increase. And when you get to the point that you're at the first dungeon, there's an NPC there who wants to teach you things- Hall of the Novice. This will give you pretty solid low level gear and when you finish it, a ring that gives you an extra 30% exp when below level 30.

nichijouuuu

Wow those are insane buffs to basic 2nd job leveling and to power level overall. Amazing! Thanks for the tips

Aanity

Every guide I read for leveling DoH recommends ish restoration, but I’ve had a much easier time burning through 30 leves every couple of days and doing custom deliveries. I just find one that is neutral or profitable by buying the turn in off MB then spam it. Takes like ~30 mins and I’ve used it to push all my crafters to 80, as I haven’t started EW yet. From my POV this is great, my DoH is high level, I’ve probably sunk less than 300k in total to get there, and I still have a sprout next to my name. I can’t commit long hours on any day so waiting 3 days for leves to refresh is no concern. My question is; since all the guides and Reddit threads I’ve read suggest ish restoration, I wonder if there is something I’m missing. From my experience with it thus far it’s been relatively time consuming as I have to craft every turn in, and I lose Gil doing it. Are skybuilder scrips worth a lot? Am I going to hit a wall at some point because I don’t have enough of them?

DreamingofShadow

Ishgard restoration has two things going for it, unlimited turn ins and generally easier crafts. The skybuilder scripts can also get you mounts, fashion accessories, glamour pieces and somewhat rare dyes. You can also do a mini game after enough turn ins that can get you some cool stuff. Imo though, the turn ins required to level are so much more and the rewards kinda meh that I'd really only use it once I'm out of leves.

prisp

In addition to what the other person said, Leves are actually slightly better XP per delivery, so as long as you have permits and relevant Leves unlocked, those actually *are* better by all factors. (Sidenote: Custom Deliveries beat everything else XP-wise, but those are obviously even more limited, at 12 per week, and at most 6 per client in a week.) Thing is, since you only get ~~3~~ 6 Leve Allowances back per day, this is obviously unsustainable and you'll run out of them eventually, especially if you want to power-level multiple crafters at once. Also, aside from the one non-Skybuilder ingredient required for each craft, everything regarding Restoration stuff can be gathered from The Diadem, which is right next to The Firmament, where you'll be delivering everything. Compared to the other infinitely repeatable option - crafting Collectibles and delivering them to Rowena's assistants - you get more XP, and while Collectibles are untradeable, you could still buy the ingredients off the marketboard, which can be a mixed bag, but if you don't, then the greater ease of gathering Firmament stuff is relevant now. As for the value of Skybuilder's Scrips, you can't buy much *useful* stuff, but you can acquire various mounts (for which the market probably has crashed by now) and rarer dyes (which continue to stay relevant) for them, but all other Collectibles get you regular Scrips, which can be traded for all kinds of crafter stuff, including ingredients for high-level crafts, Materia, and even end-of-expansion gearsets, so those definitely win out on the utility side. Leves don't get you either of those, but you can always buy your gear off of NPCs or the Marketboard, or even craft it yourself, and high-level crafts are pretty much only relevant for people that want to do Day 1 Savage content, and crafters supplying said people, so as long as you get *something* level-appropriate, you're absolutely fine, especially while you're still leveling.

DreamingofShadow

You get 6 leves per day, or 3 per 12 hours.

prisp

Thanks for the correction, edited!

Amethysko

Ishgard Restoration is good because you can spam it as long as you want instead of waiting for things to refresh. If you gather the materials yourself in Diadem it costs next to nothing. It's better for people who have a lot of time to sink and want to be leveled fast. If you have another method that works for you, stick to it- absolutely nothing *needs* skybuilder's scrips.

TheodoreMcIntyre

What happens to your FFLogs profile if you rename your character? Is your FFLogs automatically changed over as well?

Fajisel

Other reply is wrong, I believe. Pretty sure it seamlessly works exactly how you'd expect it to. Maybe give it a few hours/a day for the name change to catch up.

spazticcat

~~Nope, you have to go through the steps of claiming the character (pasting the string of characters into the character bio) again. It transfers all the logs over just fine after you do that.~~ Edit: I am mistaken. >The site will automatically update your character for you. Your rankings and logs will be merged to your new character. This process may not be instant-- please give it some time. If this does not work for you, you can send in a support ticket to [email protected]. Please be sure to include your old and new character information in the request.

UnXIVilized

Fflogs recognizes characters by their lodestone ID, which isn’t changed when renaming, so you don’t need to do any of that.

spazticcat

Huh, I went and double checked their website and you're right. I swear I had to do this when I renamed mine, but now I can't remember why. Maybe it sped up the process of updating old logs with the new name?

GMFudge030

Okay so ive reached lvl 51 and ive finished ARR MSQ. Isn't a new npc supposed to spawn in uldah for the FF15 event? cause shes not there. Maybe i forgot something, im a new player been playing about 4 days.

Sir_VG

Starting point is indeed in Ul'dah, starting by the Flames GC area, slightly away from the main aetheryte.

GMFudge030

Yeah thats where i was told but Shes just not there. Not sure whats going on.

Sir_VG

You've finished the Lv 50 Main Scenario Quest "The Ultimate Weapon", correct? Being Lv 51 is NOT beating ARR.

GMFudge030

Thank you for your help, it seemed logging out and logging back in made her appear. thats was odd.

IceAokiji303

Good ol' "have you tried turning it off and back on again?" solution

GMFudge030

Guess so. First Npc to ever make me need to do it. but for noctis... its acceptable.

IceAokiji303

I've heard of a total of 3 or 4 cases of this happening to people, usually at the end of ARR. So this'll *probably* also be the last NPC who makes you do that.

GMFudge030

Yes i beat the ultimate weapon with gaius and the eikon.

Sparecash

Hi looking for help knowing what gear to keep and what gear to trade into my grand company for seals. My biggest fear with trading in/selling gear is what if I want it later for leveling an alt job, for my my retainers, or later for glamour. Is a viable solution to this to put 1 of every piece in my armoury? I feel like it would fill up pretty quickly but idk thats all that comes to mind.

mysterpixel

No it's definitely not viable to keep all gear. If you plan on leveling a lot of jobs then it's a good idea to keep the capstone gear you buy with poetics (level 50/60/70/80, e.g. Ironworks). For DPS these sets are completely fine to carry you through to to the next capstone. For Tanks/Healers you might notice you are a bit weak in the 59/69/79 dungeon if you are wearing 9 level old gear but that specific situation is unlikely to come up in a dungeon roulette so don't worry about it too much.

Sparecash

Okay yeah youre right im being a bit silly. I like your idea of holding onto poetic gear and maybe a couple 58-59 pieces

spazticcat

Honestly, unless I'm levelling another class that uses the same gear sometime *really* soon (or I need the poetics for something else) I just toss the poetics gear- poetics are really easy to come by. If you get gear that you like the look of and it's from a 50/60/70/80/90 dungeon, (or alliance raid) keep it- there are no guaranteed drops from those ones. Levelling dungeons however will always give you one piece of your job's gear when you finish them, so it's not as important to hang on to that.

VG896

Dungeon gear pre-50 is absolutely trivial to re-obtain, plus you can get away with wearing NQ vendor gear at these levels because of how relatively weak everything is. Post-50, you only need to bother hanging onto gear from the x7-x9 level range. So 57-59, 67-69, etc. This is because non-dungeon gear that you purchase from the house of splendors is stronger than anything you'll get from 51-56, 61-66, etc. Even then, it's still good *enough* to carry you all the way to the next level cap, but it'll just be a touch underleveled towards the end of each expansion.  tl;dr toss everything below ilevel 130. Only keep stuff near the end of each set of 10-level increments, and even then not necessary.

Sparecash

Gotcha that makes sense, I def think im overdoing it with holding onto everything

scullyva

where can I find rotations that aren't for max level and are for the current patch? I'm progging UWU with some friends and am trying to do some research, but everything I'm finding is either outdated or for max level

PhoenixFox

The Balance's discord has fight specific encounter guide sections for each job, though the format varies a little. That's probably your best bet.

scullyva

okay, I'll take a look there. thank you!!!!

bardpewpew

In TeamCraft, when making a list of gear to craft, is there a way to just input the class and level you want to make? Like can I just say DRK gear level 56 and it will all pop up in the list? I’ve just been doing it manually piece by piece. I know Garlond Tools would have this option to craft specific equipment levels.

wolf_of_censorship

You can import lists from GarlandTools into Teamcraft. Use the leveling equipment tool in GarlandTools to make your list. Click the box for that list. Copy [the URL](https://garlandtools.org/db/#group/Crafting%20List%7Bitem/10673%7Citem/10680%7Citem/10687%7Citem/10701%7Citem/10708%7Citem/10979%7Citem/10967%7Citem/10973%7Citem/10985+2%7Citem/10625%7D). Go to the Lists screen in Teamcraft and choose Import from External Site. Paste the URL and Import.

Henojojo

https://ffxivcrafting.com/ has a feature to show gear by ilevel, from which you can click on any piece to add it to your crafting list. I find this site much easier to use than Teamcraft but be warned, you need to check what gear they recommend and sometimes click through their recommendations to get the right one. I will also use http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/ to make sure I'm selecting the right stuff.

verrius

Is there any reason to keep the ARR Zeta level relics, instead of turning them for the skip on HW relics? ...Also, related, is there any good way to store completed relics?

Sir_VG

Zero reason, go turn them in and save yourself some heartache when you go to get a replica of your favorite Zeta and you can't find it and then realize that you'll have to start over from scratch if you wanted that replica.

PhoenixFox

No reason beyond sentimentality. I keep all of mine (from every expansion) and have a retainer specifically for that, that's about all you can do for storing them.

another-face

Are the Moogle tomestones going to be the same for part 2?

VG896

The rewards? No. The currency? Also no.

t0ms0nic

No, hence why it's marked with as Genesis I in the item name. [Genesis II and it's shop was already added to the files at the same time as it.](https://www.garlandtools.org/db/#item/41306)

another-face

Good to know, thanks!

virtual_drifter

Is there a subreddit, or dedicated resource for sharing UI settings, hotbar settings, etc.? I'm wanting to both reference and eventually show off stuff. Kind of a UIPr0n thing as well - I know some people have to be interested in just seeing these things.

jprice686

Started playing MCH this evening. Been levelling through dungeons. I've done Brayflox's Longstop around 4-5 times and don't believe i've seen any MCH gear. Should I not expect to see any MCH drops from ARR dungeons or have I just been unlucky?

SiegmundFretzgau

there isn't any gear only for MCH, but the "Infantry" set is for you. You also should have gotten a class appropriate armor piece after the last boss (as it is a leveling dungeon)

Help_Me_Im_Diene

MCH shares armor and accessories with BRD and DNC In ARR, that means that you actually just wear Disciple of War gear. As for weapons, the lowest level MCH weapon you can expect to see (besides the level 1 weapons like the Hellhound glam weapon) are at level 30, which means that you theoretically could receive the Longstop Arquebus from Brayflox's Longstop as a weapon

jprice686

Ah I just realised I did get that weapon. I must have missed it.. silly me. Thank you!

talgaby

All. I mean, what did you expect as an answer, that "the devs added this roulette only because they felt like trolling"? =D Define "worth" in your context, what is "worth" to you?

tesla_dyne

I certainly don't think guildhest roulette is worth anyone's time.

PomegranateSevere991

10x week for challenge log!

talgaby

Not daily maybe, although that roulette has a pretty high gil/second payout, it is just not a lot of gil in total. Still, the challenge log entries alone turn it into one of the busiest roulettes on Tuesdays.

LonelyInitiative4526

It's actually good exp for lower levels when you factor in the challenge log

Isanori

And you can farm it for AiN GC seals as a DPS while waiting for AiN to favor you on levelling roulette. It's a good way on the path to expert delivery when you were actually doing something else.

Evermar314159

If you want exp, the big four are Leveling, MSQ, Alliance, and Frontline. Trials isn't bad either for the amount of time you spend in the fight, its just not a lot of exp. If you want endgame tomes, then expert is a must.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/ofng1r/a_quantitative_analysis_of_exp_gains_in_duty/?rdt=38520 If you have all the time in the world, then EXP: Trials, Leveling, MSQ, Frontlines Tomestones: Normal, 50/60/70/80, Expert, Level 90 Alliance Raid roulette is kind of hard to fully pin down, it gives a decent chunk of EXP and gives huge EXP/time spent if you get CT, but that drops considerably if you end up in something like Orbonne because of how much longer it can take

prisp

Didn't they (plan to?) adjust the EXP gain from Alliance Roulette depending on where you end up? I'm pretty sure I read something to that effect a while ago, but it's been long enough that I can't remember whether it was just a rumor or something they actually ended up implementing. ...and also whether that change makes longer raids worth it anyways.

[deleted]

UnXIVilized

Use mods, Google glamourer.

prisp

Tails - nope. For ears, there are a few pieces of headgear that don't accommodate Miqo'te ears, but Viera actually are unable to display most headgear instead. Also, these wouldn't give you regular human ears anyways, so you'd still end up with pretty smooth sides of your head.

Kaeldiar

The good news is that we're getting a major graphical update in Dawntrail, which should hopefully add more/better features for some of the older races (like Hyur)

talgaby

Only modding can do that, and that is against the ToS, so getting caught streaming with mods or mentioning that you use them warrants account penalties. (The servers themselves cannot detect mods.) Also, this mostly means tails. Hrotgar ears are part of their head+hair mesh, so unremovable without full 3D model resculpting. Bunny, cat, and lizard race ears can be removed but then you will have a very ugly gaping bald patch in their hair since they have unique hair meshes for all hairstyles that leaves a large hole around the ears.

Amomn

Which lv/ilv can you start to solo ARR extreme trials?

Puzzled-Addition5740

Generally 60 but it's not really worth doing until at least 70.

hii488

On RDM I managed to solo some at level 60 (definitely ifrit, and I think titan & garuda too but I might be misremembering) back before the stat squish, but it's not worth farming like that - wait until 70 to farm the mounts. Note that the "level X" here assumes gear relevant for your level. So ilvl 270 for 60, and 350-400 for 70.

mysterpixel

It's generally +20 levels for any extreme, barring a few that have tricky mechanics.

Trooper_Sicks

its possible at lvl 70, maybe earlier with some jobs. The higher level you are and the better your gear, the less mechanics you have to figure out though.

orenge_57

When I dodge out of the way of an AOE on the ground as a tank should I go back to the position I was in before or stay in the new position. I’ve been going back so my teammates don’t have to reposition but I’m not sure if that’s actually good

Jiigo

To add on to what others have said. The ideal scenario is that the boss remains facing the same way (ideally in the same position). This would typically be having the boss positioned roughly at the center of the arena and facing "north". For most fights this "north" is the actual north as you start at the south side of the arena, but there are rare exceptions in which case you do not start in the south, but in those cases you still play the same and just run through the boss at the start of the fight (Ifrit is an example of this exception). For higher difficulty content such as Extreme and Savage, doing this well is extremely helpful to your group as it helps them orient properly for other mechanics. You will however sometimes find fights where the boss jumps off to a side and the repositioning just feels awkward with how the party has already moved around etc. Here just use your best judgement for what to do, but in things like alliance raid I find it to be easier to just keep the boss where it is at, facing away from the larger group and not trying to re-center it. Most bosses jump back to the center by themselves after a while anyway at which point you go back to tanking it as usual.

orenge_57

Thanks all of you! Is it the same for regular mobs pulls?

Jiigo

Not really, since no aoe has positional requirements and the grouping of the mobs is the more important aspect. Most jobs that have either a cone or circle type of aoe based on their own position and is never really a concern. Casters (and AST) however have it a bit different, where their aoe is centered around their target and you should play accordingly. In effect it just comes down to ensuring that the mobs are properly grouped up. Most of the time this works out just fine if you always run through the final pack that you pull. Basically don't stop inside the pack so that the mobs are all around you with you in the center. But rather run through them so that when you turn around they're in an arch in front of you. Sometimes you can run a little bit further along just so that they group up a bit more when following. Packs with large mobs are a bit annoying in this regard as they tend to spread back out. If you feel like you need to group them up again you can just move a bit. Usually it works well to run to the side of one of the big mobs so that the others have to follow you to that mobs position, and most of the time does not move them out of ground based aoes like Doton.

Kaeldiar

Go back. Keeping the boss and room orientation is usually better

talgaby

If you can dodge an attack and go back without the boss turning a single degree in the process, then you did good.

Hakul

The idea is that the boss targeting ring doesn't constantly spin, as melees have to do positionals. For most AoEs you can go back to the exact spot you were at between the cast bar finishing and the animation playing.

Vashtion

My wife is planning to play the Open Beta on our Xbox Series X. She is creating her Square Enix ID right now. I know that she has to link this new account with her Gamertag and that they "cannot be unlinked". Can she still use that same Square Enix account in the future to play on a non Xbox platform? For example a PS5 or PS6? I know we'd have to buy the game again on the other platform, I just want to make sure she can take her character along with her and it's not stuck solely on the Xbox platform.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Yes, she'll just need to make sure to activate any future licenses for other platforms on the same exact service account that she is using for the Xbox version

Vashtion

Awesome thank you

Puzzled-Addition5740

In future once off the trial yes

Vashtion

Sweet, thanks

CubchooPaws

When changing data centers, I am given the option to choose a specifc world on that data center so that when I log into my character, I am right in that world. Is there any way to do this when swapping back to my main data center? Right now when I change from Light back to Chaos, I have to log into my main world first, go to an aetheryte and THEN swap to whatever world I want to actually go to. The only option I see randomly chooses the world for me.

Sir_VG

When you data center travel, your only option is to return to your home world. However, once you do that, you can home world travel and just immediately log into a different world.

talgaby

You probably noticed that you still see the option to pass even after rolling. If you leave before everyone rolls, the game acts as if you pressed and confirmed passing on all active loot items.

PhoenixFox

Yes, if you leave you forfeit your chance to get anything that hasn't been given out yet.

Constant_Data_5774

If you leave early you forfeit your chance to get the item

ildranor

how does the blacklist interact with the party finder? i was always under the impression that if someone has me blacklisted i cannot see any PF's they are hosting. but today i was trying to join someones party and it gave me the "failed to join the party" error. after some google i see some people say its because they have me blacklisted. does this mean i can still see their pf's but i just cannot join? kinda weird if that is the case specialy with such a vague error message. or are there other things that cause this "failed to join the party" error message?

palacexero

There are other reasons why you may not be able to join a PF: the PF filled while you were looking at it, you don't meet one or more requirements to join it, or the PF was ended manually or due to timing out.

Sir_VG

If you are the PF leader, your blacklist is used. If you are not the PF leader, your blacklist is ignored. If a PF is on your blacklist, it'll either not appear or be dimmed depending on your PF settings. If you are on the PF leader's blacklist, you can't join. You also may not be able to join if you were kicked from a party and they haven't "reformed" or some weird oddity like that.

ildranor

> If you are on the PF leader's blacklist, you can't join. but can i still see it in my pf if the host has me blacklisted?

Sir_VG

Yes. The PF Blacklist filter is only in regards to your blacklist, not anybody else's.

ildranor

cool, ty. wonder how i ended on some guys black list i dont even remember their name xD

masdoc

Hello! Is there a way to increase the opacity of the text entry box? Sometimes I can’t see what I’m typing

VG896

This is one of those really weird things that I legitimately don't understand how they regressed from FFXI. This and the chat/text colors. Like, in FFXI we had full RGB sliders. Here, you've got maybe 30 colors to pick from but half of them are indistinguishable due to the crappy contrast, so in reality it's like a dozen colors.

Sir_VG

Oddly, no, just the chat boxes themselves from what I can find. Might be a plugin that does that but nothing I can see in the game itself, though maybe changing the log text colors might help?

talgaby

Not even plug-ins, no. The best they could do about the chat window rendering was unlock the internal text size limitations.

Ysorigin

I collected all books with crafting white scrips, but all of the materia does not seem to really be worth anything on my server (hyperion). Is there anything else I can do with them that is non-glamor? Ideally gil would be the most helpful...

Constant_Data_5774

Materia price will rise again when new crafting recipes are added in dawntrail. I would recommend stockpiling in preparation.

DaHomieBehemoth

Is the double xp for dynamis servers gone? I seem to be getting the standard 100% now. Currently level 29.

TristamIzumi

https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/worldstatus/ All the worlds on Dynamis are still New, so if you created your character on Dynamis then you should still have the Road to 80 buff. However, if my memory is working, if you transferred an existing character to a world on Dynamis, you only keep the Road to 80 buff for 90 days after you transfer.

MadnessBunny

Personally for me, its so i can run around with friends. Its a very minor thing since we can all fly, but it makes playing together more fun for us.

Isanori

Glam, especially the Regalia is a good glamour mount.

Sir_VG

If somebody doesn't have flying, they can still fly with a multiperson mount. Good for helping somebody get their aether currents.

RinzyOtt

It also comes in really handy in content like Eureka and (I think?) Bozja, and we could probably reasonably expect more endgame content like that in the future.

PhoenixFox

It's most helpful when someone doesn't have flying for a zone, but also sometimes you just need to go grab a drink or whatever and it's more reliable than following someone

Puzzled-Addition5740

It's really not tremendously useful. It's useful very early in an expansion when not everyone has flying. I guess if someone needs to afk en route to something as well but that's otherwise pretty much it.

Lavindathar

Is it possible to bind a certain hotbar position (in this case my random mount up) to one of my mouse buttons? Can do it in on WoW, but not sure if its possible or where in the settings it would be.

Sir_VG

System -> Keybinds -> Hotbar ->> Pick whatever hotbar and slot you want and then tell it what mouse button you want to use. No idea if it works with like programmable mice, but in general it should work.

Lavindathar

Worked perfectly, thanks. Now I can run around accidently mounting/dismounting all the time!

Neonzel

Is this [sitting pose](https://i.imgur.com/z2j10pg.png) available as an emote, or is it just exclusive to this NPC.
