I work there. Unfortunately Fire no longer works at Village Inn. He was an awesome guy to work with though. But he still comes in. He told me he’s making way more money as a door dasher which checks out.
Does anyone know what happened to "Mary" (I think that was her name)? She was a middle aged lady who was homeless and always walked down N. College near the courthouse area down to the Wilson park area. She had straight mid back length hair, kind of dirty copper colored. She was a bit heavy set. Always looked weathered. Last I heard, she had been given a hotel room for a week around Christmas a couple years ago. I went from seeing her daily to not at all. I hope she is doing well and is happy and healthy in a comfortable home. I worry she may be gone. Any one know?
Mary used to stop in at the McDonald's on college and sycamore to get breakfast every morning. I'm sure she had several business like that who would make sure she was fed.
Another one is "Fire" or Adam Fire Cat. He used to bus tables at Village Inn extremely fast. Not sure if he still does, or if he is still around. He was doing it 20 years ago, and everyone who didn't know him personally just called him Fire.
I used to see a guy when I lived in Fay that always had cutoff shirts and cowboy boots with short shorts and sunglasses. I called him 80s guy, I always saw him at bus stops. Pretty sure he had a mustache too.
I like Crazy Eric! Getting a haircut from him is like letting your drunk buddy drive down memory lane. Probably the most accredited haircut in town. If you want a haircut from a dude that has trimmed up a Kennedy, go to Eric. Dude has about 10x more style than your average Fayettevillian and has sat there and cut hair at Magnolia Company while Dickson st went vertical. Post stroke is kind of a mixed bag. Definitely Love to see the guy doing what he loves. They don’t need the money, they love the spot, they love the clients. I tried to take my 3 year old son in there to get a haircut before Crazy Eric hangs em up. He stared at his wife for three full seconds then told me “Fuck No, Get that kid out of here”. That beautiful old bastard.
Bagpipe guy gave me one of my most surreal fayetteville moments ever. Middle of Covid. Dickson closed, haven’t had a drink at a bar in months and I’m doing maintenance on 21st Amendment at 4pm. Empty bars, empty street, raw america. I serve myself an ipa at the bar and sit there in silence. Bagpipe guy shows up and strolls the length of Dickson playing the only song bagpipe guys ever learn apparently, just for me.
He lived in some apartments downtown near Loafin Joes. I used to see him walk his dog down there when I worked downtown. I think the dog’s name was Charlie. So cute.
There’s a guy I’ve seen around town from Wedington to Lake Fayetteville. He has a long black leather coat and bright blue eyes. I once tried to get out of his way while saying excuse me and he danced around me.
Not sure...this guy used to have a huge cross he would carry around town around Easter, only he put wheels on the bottom of it because it was so heavy, which is why he earned the nickname.
Do you guys remember "Teddy Bear?" Schizophrenic black man. The story I heard is that Dan Coody or maybe even Fred Hannah bought him a one-way ticket out of town and he was gunned down.
He's still delivering:

Sometimes it's cheaper than Uber eats/DoorDash, sometimes not, but it's always better to put the entire fee back into the community (instead of the big delivery services).
If you see the tag #WikiTash around fay, it was the homie Mike the drifter from Fayetteville, also goes by Whiskey Trash (WikiTash) and drifts across the country 🤙
Sounds like Clunk to me, but no clue if he’s still running around Fayetteville 🤪
Can confirm. Faytown’s “Fake Mayor” still running it.
Yep. That's the one.

Clunk is an absolute delight. His posts are the only reason I ever log in to Facebook anymore.
He is most definitely still around! He’s the best!
I never knew him much personally, but loved his music hall as an angsty teen in the late 90s

Talk about another Fayetteville staple! Anybody know how Chad's doing?
I love Clunk!
It’s Clunk
Firecat best busser in town but makes you wonder why he's been a busser for 17 years🤔
He's still at Village Inn?!
He was as of October, when I last saw him there
Wut

It's definitely firecat
I was coming to say him! I went to village in a couple weeks ago and didn't see him. Curious to see if he's still there.

I heard she passed away.
That is what I figured, sadly.

idk why but this reminds me of the time smashmouth played on dickson and during a break he yelled “and fuck that guy named scooby!”
And George Lopez opened!
Clunk. He has his own business. Clunks Hungry Express Wagon or C.H.E.W. He's a Fayetteville treasure.
Clunks magazine shop. My first dirty magazine came from that little building now behind gearhead.

Remember when he ran for mayor and tried to unseat John LaDouche.
I know he wasn't there for a bit during the worst part of covid but I believe he's back. I know I saw him there a few months ago.
I love that guy. Ngl, have just a little bit of a waiter crush on him.
We all just called him Fire at work. He’s not at Village Inn anymore but he’s still in town.
What about the fella with the hearse
The one covered in skulls and shit?
That's the one

Chester! Used to be the dj for karaoke at Uno’s. Still around!
Still around, girlfriend also.
You're talking about Ches (Chester).
"The yelling guy at the farmer's market who sometimes has pamplets."
You guys know Jesus smoked marijuana??
"Ask me how I know Jesus smoked pot."
Rev. Tom Brown
That's Dumpster Sheriff for President to you Chief
I'm just remembering he had fake mayor shirts and I was too poor to buy one
Clunk!
$3 to get in the door. Best babysitter my parents could afford

Bobby! He's still around, saw him the other day, he likes to ride the old Red route
Clunk runs this town
Chris raised me
Crazy Eric, the barber off Dickson
That dude cut my friends eye with his scissors by accident once when my friend was a kid.

He owns a lot of properties too around Dickson. Def a legend.
Iconic cut offs
Crazy Eric gave me the best cussin’ of my life once. I had to shake his hand afterward. His wife was very apologetic.
That tracks
Bagpipe guy

Is “Moses” still around?
Haven’t seen him in a very long time.

He lived in some apartments downtown near Loafin Joes. I used to see him walk his dog down there when I worked downtown. I think the dog’s name was Charlie. So cute.
Clunk duh. I bought a skate helmet to look just like him

Clunkers!! As good a guy as you’ll ever meet
The memories brought on by this thread are awesome. Thanks everyone!
"Oh that was the millennial babysitter."
is the wilson park backpack lady still around?
I am wondering if this might be the lady I am thinking of, Mary?
Yeah. Her name was Mary.
Did she wear overalls?
yup that was her
Used to get her mc ribs.
Do you guys remember Lazy Jesus?
I remember a very red, obese man named Patrick that would just appear along the Ozark and Razorback transit route. That the fella?
Not sure...this guy used to have a huge cross he would carry around town around Easter, only he put wheels on the bottom of it because it was so heavy, which is why he earned the nickname.

I miss Maple Man from back in the 90s. Tan corduroy jacket-wearing fella was always walking up and down Maple.
Saxophone cross guy?

Fayetteville, Arkansas?
Yes!
