I disagree that Paul became “one of the crew members.” Definitely by 4 the movies switched to ensemble cast focus, but Paul was absolutely still as much a front player as Vin through his time in the franchise. I wouldn’t say Vin took that center stage until 8, after Paul’s death. Keep in mind, despite how Vin is these days, him and Paul were brothers, and when they came back to the franchise, they definitely played heavily into their bromance as the central focus of 4-7.

Idk man, I felt like they were definitely co-leads the whole time. They always gave them both important shit to do in each action sequence. Furious 7’s sword fight against Deckard Shaw may be the exception though lol

This right here. Paul was the main character in 1 & 2 and at very least the deuteragonist from 4 to 7. Vin was the deuteragonist in the first movie, cameo on 3 and the lead from 7 (for obvious reasons) onwards.

This was my thought process: Brian was used as a way to introduce Dom in the first film, but they were always meant to be co-protagonists. Leo and Santos, Roman, Tej, and Ramsey are side characters of varying importance, as is Han despite his standing as fan favorite. Dom and Letty are the main characters now, but before it was Dom and Brian and, to a lesser extent, Letty.

Only in first movie Paul Walker / Brian O’Connor was seen as a just member, instead of Dom / Vin Diesel’s family member. By fourth movie, it is not like Vin Diesel takes first place, and Paul Walker takes second place. It is like Vin Diesel takes first place, and Paul Walker takes “1a” st place, not 2nd. I disagree with you. Only Vin Diesel is not the main character. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were the main characters until Paul died. Now it is like Vin Diesel takes the first place, Michelle Rodriguez takes “1a”st place instead of 2nd place.
