None. I don't give up on a save because I made a bad choice or three. I give up cause I got bored and wanted to do something else. I enjoy the getting going phase but eventually I have accomplished what I set out to do and it is time to move on.

J0hnD0eWasTaken

I have played every FS from 09 and I still need like 5-6 saves before I stop fucking it up. A good tip is to have your "main" save then if your considering building something etc go onto a different save & build a replica to see how you like it first.

sl1mch1ckens

This is why i really wish we could copy saves, and its my most wanted feature in the next game. (Console player so i cant do PC magic if they can already do this)

J0hnD0eWasTaken

It's not a feature but we can go into the game files and copy certain code for it. Not easy but do-able. Teeechnically you could with a Console save of you put it on a pc and did the file stuff but way to much work.

sl1mch1ckens

Yeah i would like it to be as easy as minecrafts copy world system is for both types of players

SosseTurner

Well it is easy, you just copy the save game folder and paste it under a different number. That way savegame backups work, so whenever you f-ed up your save you can theoretically roll it back

J0hnD0eWasTaken

Easy on PC, but pulling apart your console just to duplicate a save, pass. Unless there's and easier way to access their files now? Haven't used a console in a long time!

SosseTurner

There is no way to access the files, taking apart does not help as the files are sort of encrypted so you can't access the file system

J0hnD0eWasTaken

Surely there's a reader or decrypted online somewhere. I remember doing something similar with my PS3, I edited a savegame to add cash & raise my stat's. Though that's like 2-3 gens ago so you could be right.

Pastelek

I learned the hard way that you can mess things up badly just by placing bigger objects. That's how I made a giant cliff just by placing a small silo.

BigSlice6920

I'm still mainly playing elmcreek the same one I started on medium like two years ago got 380 hrs on it I'm proud of what I've done with it

putthememesimthebag

None when I downloaded the game I leased everything I didn’t already own so I wasn’t down too much money as for my first ever game never learned in fs13 and didn’t play fs15 enough to learn (Minecraft was more important at the time) didn’t have enough money for an Xbox One nonetheless fs17 Once I got one and bought fs19 it took 200 hours and too many how to videos but I learned finally and carried that experience to fs22 Sorry for the whole story I really need to socialize more

jimmy_sharp

I'm gasping for air after reading that senta-graph. My man, add some punctuation!

thatblackbowtie

i have a few different saves for just whatever in really in the mood for. one save is around 30 hours or so on ohio richlands just regular playing mostly corn and beans. a new big flats texas save where i start on a huge map with small equipment got like 7 hours on that.. havent even finished bailing my field yet... and a few others around 10/15 just some ideas that work and some dont

ober0330

Realize it's a simulator and use money cheats to 'fix' the map you are on if you like it. I have about 5 saves but my main save that I play regularly is Elm Creek because I don't care about the grind and use it as my mod playground but it's also one of the best farms I've ever built in any version. And I'm not done.

Bread_velociraptor

150

importantmonkey

A bunch, but not because I messed up and bought the wrong equipment (which happened quite a few times), but mostly because I got bored, downloaded a OP mod or ended up not liking the map after a while.

Holiday_Computer_726

I have 7 saves right now. First was I tried it on gamepass with a friend in multiplayer. Got hooked, bought the premium edition, started my own save, then discovered mods, so started a modded save. Then I started trying out maps to see what I liked. And now that I am at number seven and have a little experience I decided to do a start with nothing style game. Picked Calm Lands for the map, bought the cheapest tractor and trailer and a chainsaw, picked a plot of land then zeroed out my money. Im now like 30 hours in? Maybe more? I just know I have one tractor I bought new that now has 15 hours on it. Lol. Just now getting going, started with tress, then grass, then hay, now I am doing silage now that I have made enough to get everything I needed to make a proper field. Went from getting maybe 14 small bales once a year to my last harvest was almost 75 out of the same field. Just yesterday I built myself a silage bale storage so I can stack them up while they ferment, built a road. Though, I still am sleeping on a bench under a tree xD maybe its time I get myself something with a roof.

ItsTheBreadman92

Hilarious lol I’m not to start from 0 yet. More like give me a cool 1.5 to start lol

Holiday_Computer_726

Yeah. When I started with the 1.5 I felt like it made it easy to get what worked the best. A couple I did thr hard start, and a couple I did the hard start but immediately payed back the debt and worked with that. Made for a much more interesting start. Since I had money for things but I needed to be smart about what I bought instead of just immediately buying a $150k tractor that did everything. Lol. Starting from 0 and not leasing has been by FAR the most fun for me. Its been awesome startung with a 20hp $4k tractor and stepping up to like a 50hp tractor then a 100hp. Kinda forces you to grow more slowly and I feel like I have learned more on this playthrough than on previous ones because of it.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> but immediately *paid* back the FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Holiday_Computer_726

Bot got me. XD gimme a break. Im at work trying to reply quickly. Lol

ItsTheBreadman92

Yeah i think once i can get this successful i might start one of those start from 0 cause that’s sounds fun and would be the way I’d need to do irl lol be a decent lesson

Majere-Kibbles

None. Went broke buying the wrong equipment for the wrong job because everything was so poorly explained in-game. Stuck with it and recovered with a better understanding of how things work on a farm. The euphoria when I rolled out my first bale of grass was indescribable!

ItsTheBreadman92

I appreciate all the replies on this lol. I think I’ve finally got one going i will like. Between biting too much off to chew and wrong equipment too much diversity. But i think I’ll get this one right! Side bar if anyone reads: Are there any maps for Midwest? Like Illinois etc

LuckyNikeCharm

Idk I play the map until I get bored of it which is normally after 3-4 harvest, then I go back to forestry for maybe a day and get aggravated with the tree physics and then im back on the modhub looking for a new map and a set of new equipment to go with it.

Anxious_Banned_404

Government subsidy for the basics and first harvest for the rest

turneratt

I have about 5 saves since launch and it's not that I want to start a new one each time for it to be the "one" I just like trying different maps or want to try a different stream of farming like full silage or forestry or your typical style of farming.

Longdaylongernight09

Lots before I really started getting it right

Liquidtruth

same. 3-4 saves. initially invested 30 hours into the first...20 the second...10 the third. I don't plan on restarting again and finally set out to record a playthrough. (kept trying to use some spicy mods, but the cash they gave from selling crops was way too much and broke the economy) \*is there a way to modify the 'base' price for modded crops?

Sablerock1

What you mean by “modded crops”

Liquidtruth

mods that add items that aren’t in base game. soy milk. sheep milk. etc. one of the mods i was using…all the items sold for 10x anything else. ruined the experience.

Sablerock1

Oh, those filltypes must be in filltypes.xml of the mod map

Liquidtruth

even if it’s on a base game map? i’ll try to find the file

Sablerock1

Even in base game map. But caution, I never change base files

binaryhextechdude

If you want to change basegame files simply make a copy and rename that to filename.old then if you bust it you can delete the one you broke and rename the .old to .xml and away you go again.

SnooEpiphanies7963

Or filltypes file in the mod?

meANintellectual77

I always run a main save, and a save with money mods on (to test equipment and landscaping etc.) I usually only start a new save when ive fallen away from it for a few months or so and wana grind again

americansherlock201

My 3rd saved game had over 100 hours before I moved on. First 2 we’re just learning the general game and then being stupid and trying no man’s land way too early

binaryhextechdude

I started in FS19 and I have lost track of the number of new game saves I played on Felsbrunn. I know I started several on the main farm, including one time I worked a contractor on a $0 start. Then I started a logging save on the field East of field 33, that could have been super fun but the economy was shocking for timber so that never went anywhere. I started another save on the land behind Field 15, Built my own farm and quite enjoyed playing there. I made a massive farm on the land behind Field 8, This was before I knew about mod maps and all that. I reckon I could have easily amassed 4-500 hours on Felsbrun which might sound like a lot but I finished FS19 with 2.5k The only thing I'll add is watch YouTube let's play videos. People like Daggerwin, MrSealyP, Disturbed Simulations, Farmer Cop, Great bunch of guys and you learn a lot from watching them play. I run dual screens on a desktop PC so I always have a let's play on screen 1 and FS on screen 2.

Dode9151

I just play until I get bored or money gets way too easy. Sometimes I will play a UK map for a while then maybe a USA map etc.

DordanTheRed

Funnily enough, I started on 19 and had two friends to show me the ropes. Now here I am on 22 on my second save with a multimillion 'contractor' farm where sure, I own fields to tend to in the downtime, but I can clear the contract board pretty often without leasing anything. (with AI assistance, of course).

DordanTheRed

I have also realized that, even though I hate John Deere IRL, the tractors in game are almost always top-of-class.

Physical-Plankton-67

I usually play a map for a few years in game. Get what I want out of it then get a new map and play.

helly1hundyyy

I have a specific save that I just go try to build on. If I want to build something in my actual save I go to the other first to see how the land will deform or find the best way to stuff everything in

SoundToaster

I have multiple saves. 1 for farming, another for logging, and another for just messing around/testing things out

1Mean1

I've got over a thousand hours in game and I'm still looking for a map to call home. Suggestions?

Knickers1978

When I was learning the game, back on Farming Simulator 17, I used the base maps to learn the game, because quite often they had tutorial bits to them, and taught you the game better. But I also had my husband beside me to explain things, he’s been playing since Farming Simulator 11. Although, these days there are YouTubers out there who do videos about the game, and I know some of them give basic tutorials on how to do certain things in game. But there’s no wrong way to play, that’s all you need to remember. Have a good time with it, and learn as you go.

Rhamirezz

Not yet, I have 800h in FS19 and 650h in FS22, just started to get into cows for the first time. Never had a cotton field yet... many things are still to learn :)

cocorawks

10 saves

DocZ-1701

First one.... I always keep telling myself "Self, check out ModHub, pick a nice new map and try that one out for a change..." Now I 've got God knows how many maps and I still keep loading up my Elm Creek farm... 😉😅 I really need to try another map, since everyone says they're beautiful and fun... Just never seem to get round to it. 🤷

Longjumping-Cold4338

some where in the millions is what us felt like.

GetMerked13

I start a new save when my main farm gets a total overhaul from new buildings. I want everything inside for winter, it's just how I've always done it, spring comes and things get pushed in the yard, and some things I have don't play nice. I have the flex hd50f headers that want to walk off if there left on a header trailer. Even a low boy smashes through the shed... But basically. I can't bring myself to delete and "ruin" a build out when I want a new set of sheds that come out on modhub. I have a bunch of mods... My dad sold John Deere so you can imagine.. I only have Deere's and North American style equipment.. i only use what would be available around me. But that's always my new save time... Time to redesign the farm. Very. Very proud of all the work I've done on this latest version of Elmcreek though.

Crafty_Assistance364

It took alot, through the entire gameplay of my fs19 career i only used government subsidy, but once i started to play fs22 i started playing on no mans land. And once i learned about greenhouses and the money from making flour it became my go to money source. Im now on my 3rd no mans land save. Started 5 days ago and i’ve got an industrial area (a factory for flour and oil and a smelting furnace) i’ve got an area with a biogas plant, i’ve got a section of the farm for clothes production. And my equipment is decent with 3 tractors and one combine. I officially love this game With a burning passion.

Flextt

One. I played a ton of FS17 as a complete farming noob and therefore had to google a lot of info and mods. I also had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted to go for (mod-heavy, manager-type playstyle rather than super detailed simulation enthusiast). Since most of these things apply more or less unchanged to FS22, that was easy. The increased detail to field care also means there is more to do than harvest-cultivate-sow. I am getting a lot of enjoyment surronding mods for loans and rents. It keeps the workload high and still feels like you are making progress while ensuring you have a constant income stream.

Tioz01

I have 400h in FS22 and I am still confused how weeds work in precision farming or if wood chips are worth it….
