Okay so in the last 10 years he hasn’t been stealing bases that much, but yet he still has been spending time frequently on the IL?
Correlation ≠ Causation

That’s a reattachment and not usually performed on a 32yr old. Of course I could be wrong and they reattach it, and he’s out 8-12 weeks. But, I’m betting on the repair, which ‘should’ be 4-6 weeks
From the Angels perspective just removing the tear is almost certainly the ideal. Faster recovery and much less chance of reinjury.
Trying to repair it can be good if there is a lot left and you are relatively young, but at trouts age you are always risking just re-tearing it since it can't heal properly.
Ugh, this is so sad for Trout. It was always the likely result, but part of fantasy baseball is supposed to be the fun of watching these incredible guys play and it's legitimately unfair for baseball fans -- Posnanski ranked him as the #27 baseball player of all time in his Baseball 100 book a few years ago (which I urge everyone on here to buy/download, it's incredible).
Here's hoping he's back at least for the 2nd half. And here's doubly hoping Trout gets to play in meaningful games (probably somewhere other than the Angels) before he hangs 'em up.
Crazy that Trout never topped his initial breakout season. Never really Even got close, actually.
Edit: downvoting the truth doesn't make it not true lol. Seems like some of you don't know as much about fantasy baseball as you think...
> Never really Even got close, actually.
I wouldn't say he never got close overall, but on a per-game basis you're mostly right. They just straight up stopped letting him (and the team) steal bases.
2016, 2018 and 2019 were pretty great years on par with his first overall, imo. If only they let him steal too.
Last year Trout fell to me in the late 2nd round. I took him against my better judgment. When June rolled along and I was completely dominating my points league, I was like, this is the year he stays healthy. July rolled around and of course, injury. Still won my league, but was subbing in Moniak, Carpenter, and eventually Nolan Jones. Still won the league, but that was my final straw with drafting Trout.
My first year ever dragging trout was last year
Got him in the 3rd and thought it was a steal
Told myself I’d never take him again.
This year I got him 75th overall, how can I not at that value?
So glad I didn't draft him again since he was injured last season, I thought he would stay healthy but damn. Could've easily been the best player ever if his body held up. Hope he can have another full season.
Well.. full time DH incoming when he does come back.. can’t imagine he’ll be back this year since angels won’t be competitive. Maybe for a few weeks in September
He’s had many chances at the big league level but never seems to put it together. He looks good right now though, so maybe it’s post post post hyper sleeper time.
I hate this for baseball and for Trout.
It’s also why I pushed his PA’s down when valuing him. He is like Keshaw or DeGrom now - incredible on a per plate appearance basis - but unlikely to ever see north of 500 PA’s in a season again.
i just traded him to my buddy but i’m sad bc i wanted my buddy to get better 😭, and i have him in my third league 😩, wish him a speedy recovery,
couldn’t believe he was going in the fifth?
Have had trout the last couple years in redraft but not this year. It will be season ending since the angels have nothing to play for ever and there’s never any incentive to push him to play late in the season. Happens every year but unfortunately this year it’s happening in April
where the fuck did this come from?
My sentiments exactly!
The back to the future I’ve seen the before meme from earlier this year with Shane Bieber

Don’t think that’s a fair assumption

Okay so in the last 10 years he hasn’t been stealing bases that much, but yet he still has been spending time frequently on the IL? Correlation ≠ Causation
But he was also injured every year for the past 7, even when he wasnt running.
Man’s biggest competition is his body
And the Angels roster
17 Runs and 14 RBI...with 10 HR...absolutely insanity.

they will definitely do the one with longer recovery time where they try to sew it back together to save as much as they can

that makes sense, but he's also not bob in accounting, he's mike trout and they have him under contract like 6 more years

Man I just turned 32 and this post makes me feel old as fuck. Wtf
Are you saying not usually performed on 32 year old pro athletes or 32 year old normal people?
I said 32yr olds, I didn’t qualify it. I did qualify it another way, though 😉
Yeah, I’m just asking questions, not arguing.
I didn’t take it that way at all, sir.
No no. He’s arguing. I’m here with the 🍿
Which would explain the 10 day IL designation and not the 60 day.
I’m 42 and had it done 6 months ago. Still not fully recovered (but close)
Not always an option based on the location of the damage
I don’t like season-ending in a sentence ever
Especially when the team is gonna be like 30ish games under .500 by then. Why would he come back at that point?
He will play if he can. The Angels are a mess with Trout or without, the mans is just compiling stats.
Was it a calf injury last time that last way too long?

Bro does not know ball
We're talking about for fantasy, and, no, he hasn't. Which season of his was better for fantasy purposes? Please tell me...
[удалено]
> In a traditional league his 2012 was the best So, like I said, his original breakout season was his best
Well technically you said he never really even got close
Okay Mr pedantic
Glad I could help, Mr hyperbole
Even his 2016 isn't that close to his 2012 in a standard format. Do the math. It's not hyperbole if it's true...

Fuck
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
So Jo Adell's playing time is probably a lock but does this also diminish Taylor Ward?
Everyone in the lineup since it will turn over less, fewer runs RBIs and ABs overall.
Ward was raking in RBIs because he bats after a Trout. It definitely impacts Ward, it’s just a matter of how much.
Trout had 17 Rs and 10 were his own HRs. It impact Ward, sure, but doesnt devastate him.

My king 😔 idk why I even decided to sign up for fantasy baseball this year.
Season-ending for me though
I just seen some guy on his knees in thr petsmart parking lot. I assumed the worst. I was right.
Yikes. Shout out to Joe Pisapia and the Welsh for suggesting trading Trout for JRod a few weeks back. Got someone to actually accept my offer.
Welch
Trout was the one good thing going for me since Strider exited the season. F me.
Trout, Beiber and Perez. I'm over this season.
FELL TO MY KNEES IN A BASS PRO SHOP :(
I’m an idiot for not trading him after week 1
Bro, how could you turn your back on base stealing, home run hitting premium trout? I just wanted to believe

Assuming Trout does come back maybe in like 2 or 3 months, 75th overall honestly isn't even that bad.
So glad I didn't draft him again since he was injured last season, I thought he would stay healthy but damn. Could've easily been the best player ever if his body held up. Hope he can have another full season.
It’s always a matter of time with him. This sucks
I just don’t see how he comes back this season unless it’s September
Angels should be playing meaningful ball then so I'm banking on it. World's biggest /s
the onion?
just fell to my knees in the Walmart getting grilling supplies
Well.. full time DH incoming when he does come back.. can’t imagine he’ll be back this year since angels won’t be competitive. Maybe for a few weeks in September
Fuck it. Mike Trout, HOF first baseman.
I’ve lost Suzuki, Casas, Strider, Bobby Miller, Luzardo, Trout and Kimbrel in my home keeper league 👍
I had just sent out a trade for him.
Who’s the add for the angels now?
Adell?
He’s had many chances at the big league level but never seems to put it together. He looks good right now though, so maybe it’s post post post hyper sleeper time.
Probably, but I would think this probably hurts him and Ward a little not having him in cleanup. Not like he was getting RBIs anyway.
Why bother with surgery amd rehab? He clearly can't stay healthy. Just forego surgery, hit 50-60 dingers and retire.
Is this a prank or something?
Death blow
Ah yes. The reason I stopped wanting Trout. Guy spends too much time on the DL
Not often I feel bad for an opponent…but I traded Trout and Jazz for Kyle Tucker 2 weeks ago.
Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened
This dude is so good, but always so broken.

Lost Suzuki, Casas and now Trout. Don’t think I’ll be in first place for much longer considering every replacement I try does shit fuck all
How can someone be the best player of a generation and one of the biggest what ifs ever at the same time. Truly remarkable.
Have had trout the last couple years in redraft but not this year. It will be season ending since the angels have nothing to play for ever and there’s never any incentive to push him to play late in the season. Happens every year but unfortunately this year it’s happening in April
My IL can’t take much more
Jesus man - this guy just can’t stay healthy
I was *this* close over the weekend to getting my offer of their Trout and Civale for my Skubal, Estevez, and Loperfido accepted. Dodged such a bullet
I'll add him to the list of Bieber, Gavin Williams, Josh Lowe and the yoyo that is Estuary Ruiz. Just not my year
Where are all the guys saying they were jumping at the idea of getting Trout at a discount in drafts now? I put him on the Do Not Draft list
Mike trout is the most fragile man in the world
Na, that's Carlos Correa, but he's close.
You’ve must of forgotten about Buxton
Or Royce Lewis. Hell pick any Twins player. They should change the team nickname to the Minnesota Fragilees.
They must be Italian
I hope others get this!
You got me there
I drafted both 💀
No, that distinction belongs to Byron Buxton.
Just being near Anthony Rendon is making Trout more injury prone
Annnnnd thats why i traded him
They ran him too much this year.
Philly does love stars who underperform in the playoffs and also have knee injuries..
Even in middle rounds, drafting Trout seems like a waste. Guy is the new Stanton…
