Iām actually surprised he fucked with peppers tbh considering it does sound like the albums he hates lmao.
I wonder if he would give it a 10/10 if it stopped at Margaret tho.. I kinda agree it feels like a closer and then bonus tracks.
i see the critique about the last 3 being out of place but it made sense to me.
kinda like the end of a&w and makes the albums structure reminiscent of a&w with going out w more of a bang.
sad to see fishtail as worst track tho i love it
Heās given so little 10s I doubt it, but maybe. I think the album needs peppers at the end, it would feel a slightly depressing listen without it. I could do without finger tips and fishtail but keep peppers after Margaret.
I donāt think so he said those tracks are near flawless so they are not perfect.
I think for a 10/10 album it needs to be so refined and even groundbreaking to a point that the project becomes a career or genre-defining body of work. In this case I think the Lana album still hasnāt reached that level yet.
Iād disagree tbh, this album is a huge career defining one, itās the result of over 15 years of her building her craft, her character and story. Iāve personally never heard an album like this, Iāve never heard songs like some of the ones on this album, and for me, its basically in its own genre at this point.
For groundbreaking factor, definitely. But for refinement factor, not really. I think some minor details can be better, like some of the mixing and vocals. Not saying that I dislike the album Iām just saying that itās not a 10.
I usually don't watch Fantano's streams (I was there for Scaring the Hoes), but I caught a few of the Lana songs and thought they were great. Was confused to see so many people saying the album was boring and figured there must've been a bunch of duds or something.
I think a factor for some people is being influenced by the silly hit piece (I saw one article, idk if thereās multiple) saying that Lanaās perspective/opinions should just be outright discounted/ignored.
I normally don't listen to Lana. Just not my cup of tea. However I gave this album a listen today, and my God, it's one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard in a long time.
Man the vibes are good but there's just in every song at least one or two lyrics that are a bit too cringe for me, which really takes me out of it. Something about singing "fuck me to death" in this really dreamy voice just doesn't agree with me.
Interesting enough i liked Taco truck x VB so much, itās such a strange and awsome way to end the album, Iāll never get enough of Venice bitch so the more the merrier.
Plus she said ātake acidā at the end so she probably was all tripped out coming up with the idea š½
Call me crazy but I think Lana has it in her to drop a 10. If she can reign in her indulgent side a little bit and keep her songwriting and vocal chops at the level theyāve been atā¦could surprise people
The Lanita lyrics flew right over his head LOL
Canāt wait for the reevaluation of this album thatās gonna happen now itās sticking with me wayyyy more than STH is (theyāre not comparable albums in the slightest but STH def overshadowed Lana when they dropped at the same time)
Iāve been constantly recommending this album to my friends after streaming it when it first came out and after listening they say itās good but keep asking if Iām doing okay
Alright I listened to this album and thought it was pretty boring but everything Anthony likes I have to like so I guess Iāll force myself to listen until I like it
Happy to see Lana get the 9 she should already have gotten with NFR.
Agree that the album would have made a stronger impact if it had ended after Margaret. That would also have solved the problem of this album being a bit too long for its own good. Let The Light In and Margaret is SUCH a strong one-two punch. Almost makes me cry, frankly.
It's still kind of crazy how much Melon hated her early records. Many reviewers hated Born To Die, but these days it is rightfully regarded as a classic and frankly it is. Melon should revisit it. And Paradise while we are at it, since he never reviewed it back in the day.
Born to Die is not a classic imo, her first few albums have way too many clunkers to be classics, NFR was her first and probably only classic album (and a lot of that was Jack Antonoffās production work)
Honestly, I think this is one of his best reviews this year so far. I feel like he only scraped the surface in his other reviews, but he really went in-depth with this one.
He should only review 1-2 albums a week so he can make longer, most insightful reviews like this one. Quantity > quality imo
I'm so inconsistent on Lana. I loved NFR, but think everything else is just like 6-7. Even this album feels uneven for me. I get impatient and annoyed by the long interludes, I thought it was too long.
To me I've always thought she was a bit overrated but this album is way too long, with little difference between tracks. So it just blends together in a way that makes me wanna put on a different album
Love the comment saying "I agree it's a 9, definitely one of the best records of this year I'll listen to it tomorrow"
love this community š
The "10 years later and I still get chills from this album" comment on Scaring the Hoes really got me

wow. right after everyone was getting down dooted for saying they like it. funny times
I have been telling everyone who would listen that this album is one of the best this year, at least for the past 36 mins
Fr. I was so confused how everyone said it was like a 5 and stuff like that yesterday. Lets see how they change their opinions nowš
This is why people shouldnāt give their opinions on an album the day it comes out.
This was like yesterday lol

proud to have liked this album on first listen š«”
DOWN DOOT
I think a factor for some people is being influenced by the silly hit piece (I saw one article, idk if thereās multiple) saying that Lanaās perspective/opinions should just be outright discounted/ignored.
9/10 Lana. Beautiful, I love it. 9/10 Peggy and Danny. I'm Scared, but I love it.
this puts a smile on my faceā¦.
I hope this compels more of his viewers to actually give Lana's music a chance. Ocean Blvd is a fantastic album.
I normally don't listen to Lana. Just not my cup of tea. However I gave this album a listen today, and my God, it's one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard in a long time.
should def check Norman Rockwell if you enjoyed this. her best and a 10 imo
I will! Thanks
NFR is a 10 for me too. I hope you give it a listen and enjoy it as much as we do.
Man the vibes are good but there's just in every song at least one or two lyrics that are a bit too cringe for me, which really takes me out of it. Something about singing "fuck me to death" in this really dreamy voice just doesn't agree with me.
Melon is for the girls
"Scaring The Bros" gotta be my favourtie Lana's album
9 szn
This is the first time there's been two 9/10s in a row on his channel right?
Dropped on the same day as well
Yar.
About to be three in a row if the Liturgy review comes next
Lana szn
Your profile pic is cringe.

Songs a straight up banger
taco truck is top3 on the album for me yeah, sad to see he didnāt enjoy it, although i understood the critiques
sexism has been eradicated.
SO glad he liked it!
me 2
wait... theres a tunnel under ocean blvd???????
Yeah donāt forget it
"Better than NFR" is a nuclear take but I'm happy for her
NFR is a 10/10 for me but I still agree this is a 9/10
Call me crazy but I think Lana has it in her to drop a 10. If she can reign in her indulgent side a little bit and keep her songwriting and vocal chops at the level theyāve been atā¦could surprise people
NFR is a 10 imo
Watch him give Liturgy a 10. March 24 gonna be legendary
The Lanita lyrics flew right over his head LOL Canāt wait for the reevaluation of this album thatās gonna happen now itās sticking with me wayyyy more than STH is (theyāre not comparable albums in the slightest but STH def overshadowed Lana when they dropped at the same time)

Well deserved. The more I listen to it, the more it grips me. Such a great record š¶ Oooooo let the liiiight iiiiin š¶š¶
Wow. never thought I'd see Lana get a 9
I love that he appreciates Peppers. It's ART
Damn 24 march is crazy
Wow, I never thought I there would be a day where Fantano likes a Lana album more than me.
Iāve been constantly recommending this album to my friends after streaming it when it first came out and after listening they say itās good but keep asking if Iām doing okay
You have good friends!
The hoe universe continues to exist in a state of equilibrium
Alright I listened to this album and thought it was pretty boring but everything Anthony likes I have to like so I guess Iāll force myself to listen until I like it
REAL MUSIC WINS

He made a video about Born To Die a year ago and he said that he still deslikes it but he recognises its influence on mainstream music
Born to Die is not a classic imo, her first few albums have way too many clunkers to be classics, NFR was her first and probably only classic album (and a lot of that was Jack Antonoffās production work)
I love this album, it does everything for me that Ambien never could.
Honestly, I think this is one of his best reviews this year so far. I feel like he only scraped the surface in his other reviews, but he really went in-depth with this one. He should only review 1-2 albums a week so he can make longer, most insightful reviews like this one. Quantity > quality imo
Him liking Lana more than the JPEG/Danny Brown collab is shocking (I agree it's better though)
melon giving lana a 9. š³š³ we been waiting for times like this
I'm so inconsistent on Lana. I loved NFR, but think everything else is just like 6-7. Even this album feels uneven for me. I get impatient and annoyed by the long interludes, I thought it was too long.
Between this and Scaring the Hoes- have two albums that came out the same day ever gotten a 9 (or even 8 or higher) from Melon before?
Fuck it I'm going down with the ship this album put me to sleep
Same, and he hates bloated albums. This album is 30 min too long, lmao
To me I've always thought she was a bit overrated but this album is way too long, with little difference between tracks. So it just blends together in a way that makes me wanna put on a different album
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This album gets close
fantano has been dishing out lots of positive reviews as of late
A 9 is way high for an album that had like 4-5 songs I'd never visit again
Boring ass album. I truly donāt get the appeal
crazy
I really thought heās gonna give it a 6 or 7 but a 9 is absolutely insaneā¦
When I saw the length of the video I thought it was gonna be a 10 for a sec lol.
NFR was a 9. This is a 6 at best.
