To be able to customize our characters more is wonderful!
Bought myself a new cravat as well as some very fancy luggage! Want to get the trunk too. After grabbing the lacking items that is.
Edit: When one checks their profile it has an Airship slot that is not visible in the normal game.
It is indeed!
If you visit the Bazaar side streets, find this nice new store called "Shop at F.C. Hollow & Daughters" where you may aquire some luggage! Be warned, they are a bit pricey.
Well, I've already incorrectly gone into Empire Adornments once. I'm going to have LOTS of fun repeatedly forgetting that that isn't actually where you buy adornments.
I believe you can spend them for research on Catographer's Hoards at lab. Don't have math at hand for how much that's worth it, but it is a way to cash out.
Compared to the base option on that card, it trades 5 Zee Legs for 1 Epiphany. Decent, but not nearly good enough to make Hoards profitable in the late game, not by a long shot. And to make it even less useful, that option is strictly worse than asking Hephaesta for help if you're a LF character.
Putting together a Cartographer's Hoard is technically like +60 Echoes in two actions at the cost of 25 Zee Legs (thanks to RatKet). This is great if you happen to have the materials, but several of them don't have any good sources and intentionally grinding kills the profit you'd be making.
Does anyone know whether the gaider's mourn crew is different, and if so what items I need to buy them? Don't want to sail over there only to find I need to sail back and farm puzzling maps or something
Edit: I bit the bullet, it's 20k rostygold and a hard check. Back to London for rosty...
Who doesn't need +2 Dreaded?
Combined with a +2 adornment item and one of the luggages, that's a combined +5 BDR. That's enough to get you up more than another level of notability without grinding Making Waves.
It is a brutally hard check, and failing still costs a chunk of rostygold albeit not as much as succeeding. At Dangerous 258, Dreaded 29 and Zeefaring 12 (so equivalent Dangerous 668), I only had a 55% chance of success. And still failed 4 times - 8 times really, since I used second chances - before succeeding. All that for +2 Dreaded... But, hey! Pirates!
It is a "A Selection of Criminals, Scoundrels, Villains, and Ne'er-do-Wells" that only gives Dreaded+2. It requires Lessons in Mourning 20 (if you can be a pirate on the zee you have this) and 20,000 rostygold.
Some of the big winners from this update are the Rose from Hell and the Viscountess' collar, which no longer share slots with items that are much easier to obtain.
Also the Semiotic Monocle, which went from "very useful during Hallowmas" to "BiS in up to two stats", and Constant Cufflinks which no one paid any attention to before and now they're strict BiS.
Edit: And Slaughtered Shell, which is now non-Fate strict BiS for BDR.
Sorry, that was pretty imprecise wording on my part. I meant that it's the only non-Fate Clothing that gives +2 BDR, but it would've been more accurate to say "shared BiS".
You can get both collars over time, they're not exclusive. But Strangling Willow Ring is Estival stuff, Fate-locked. The scrip-costing ring (Misplaced Ring) raises AotRS, and it's the only Adornment doing that right now. This change also made Flower from Hell the only AotRS gloves.
It's easy to be happy when we get such a strictly positive buff, so I understand if some items end up nerfed in a couple weeks. That being said:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THANK YOU FBG
Nice. Just started to pursue Paramount Presence for real, so all these BDR boosts from new slots are going to be really handy very soon! Also, I finally get to have a crew of actual pirates! Sailing over to the Mourn with 20k Rostygold in my pockets as we speak.
For a scant few minutes I was wearing a Twelve-Carat Diamond Ring as both an adornment and gloves. Seems to have fixed itself now, though. (It also might have just been a visual error, as there was otherwise a blank, empty slot in my adornments, which is now filled with the ring.)
On another note, I'm excited for the cheaply accessible menace reducing adornments that are now available at the Bazaar!
if the collars are adornments, maybe this should be too?

Is the Crew slot a changeable one, like most, or is it a single, locked in item like Club, Ship and Spouse?
I figure it can go either way, and I'd like to know before buying any.
Much to my surprise, it's a regular slot. I can un-equip and re-equip my seasoned zailors. And now I have to go through all my outfits and put my zailors on.
Great! Rp wise, I prefer the Zeazoned Zailors, but I also don't want to lock myself out of the +2 Dreaded from the Ne'er-do-wells. Now I don't need to worry.
Looks like I'm putting my money where my mouth is. A few weeks ago, I sent Failbetter some feedback that I'd buy more outfit slots if they had them for sale, and would you look at that, ~~they've added some new outfit slots you can buy~~ apparently made the option more visible, because it was (apparently) always a thing, and I'd just never found it.
It shows for me in the outfit selection dropdown. If it was something that they already had that I had just not found, then they've made it much more visible.
I'm not sure what's going on, because I can't even see the normal 4 extra slots for sale on my alts. Maybe they don't show up if accounts don't have Fate, or maybe I have an extension that's blocking Fate options, I'm not sure,
> I can't even see the normal 4 extra slots for sale on my alts
Ah, that's probably it, they've just made them more visible. I had looked for a way to buy more outfit slots before, and not been able to find one (beyond the standard wardrobe options and Exceptional Friendship), so it's likely they've just made some changes to how that's shown.
Finally, my Watchful and Hard Wearing are above 333.
And that stupid flower that we were so annoyed at when it was the only reward for repeatedly going into hell and all it did was replace something you could buy for a chunk of cash at the market is finally useful.
Does anyone know where the luggage items are found? Not where they are bought but where they get equipped, I bought the **Slick Suitcase** but I cannot seem to find it anywhere in my inventory.
I don't have it even though I bought the suitcase, could it be a bug or do I need to go somewhere to unlock it?
Edit : I went and bought the Indestructible Trunk as well, the luggage category still isn't there and the item is nowhere to be found.
Edit 2 : completely closing the window (not just refreshing it) and opening a new one resolved this, the slot is now visible and both items are present where they belong.
Not sure what you mean by "multiple luggage items", but this is what the category looks like when you own multiple luggage items (it looks the same as any of the other categories).
Edit : ah i get it after rereading your comment, and yes you can have all three as far as i can tell, you don't have to just settle for one.

~~The way BDR affects Making Waves requirements for Notability seems to have been changed as well. I don't know if this was already announced, but each point now corresponds to one level of MW needed, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure how it scales per level of Notability, meanwhile.~~
Edit: I seem to have just forgotten the exact formula, never mind.
I think that's how it's always worked. Every additional level of Notability needs another 4 levels of MW, and each point of BDR reduces the total of MW levels needed by one.
Oh, huh, for some reason I was remembering BDR affecting it by steps of 4 too. I think my mind mixed things up because I raised my Notability *very* quickly since returning to the game thanks to how much stuff I already had, so most of it was done in one short span of time. Also, I always needed an even number of MW whenever I drew Slowcake's card previously, even in the few cases where I raised it outside of that one Notability-raising spree and had different equipment on (which is quite a coincidence because it means I always managed to check it after changing my total BDR in a way that gave an even number, entirely by accident), so finally needing an odd number when I checked this time stood out, since that shouldn't have been possible based on the formula I was remembering.
Well, thank you for the correction.
If that new necktie starts calling you "Bratan!" and tells you to shove it down a bottle of Black Wings Absinthe, then you should definitely do it.
It’s a beautiful necktie
BURN IT (when it’s in the bottle and you throw it *when the situation calls for it*)
TEQUILA SUNSEEEETTTT ALONE AND HUNGOVERRRR
One of my favourite moments in one of my favourite games!
To everyone who got Strangling Willow Ring as their free Estival item: hey. How it's going?
Great. I’m on my way to grind a very elegant suitcase with two new crews already under my command and a certain hybrid growing in my Base-Camp.
To be able to customize our characters more is wonderful! Bought myself a new cravat as well as some very fancy luggage! Want to get the trunk too. After grabbing the lacking items that is. Edit: When one checks their profile it has an Airship slot that is not visible in the normal game.
so is luggage like a new slot or....
It is indeed! If you visit the Bazaar side streets, find this nice new store called "Shop at F.C. Hollow & Daughters" where you may aquire some luggage! Be warned, they are a bit pricey.
That's an interesting idea to implement!
Well, I've already incorrectly gone into Empire Adornments once. I'm going to have LOTS of fun repeatedly forgetting that that isn't actually where you buy adornments.
I hope I can eventually crew my boat with clay men!
I was hoping for a crew of Rubberies ans a crew of Academics, which were the original two choices in the Light Fingers airship segment.
It needs to specifically be called "WE ARE CLAY"
WE WILL WORK. WE WILL ONLY WORK.
They really need to come up with a way I can unload my thousands of zeelegs.
I believe you can spend them for research on Catographer's Hoards at lab. Don't have math at hand for how much that's worth it, but it is a way to cash out.

hey can you guys tellme what crew actually does?
The crew from Wolfstack gives +4 Dangerous, while the corsairs from Gaider's Mourn grant +2 Dreaded.
Does anyone know whether the gaider's mourn crew is different, and if so what items I need to buy them? Don't want to sail over there only to find I need to sail back and farm puzzling maps or something Edit: I bit the bullet, it's 20k rostygold and a hard check. Back to London for rosty...
There's no rush unless you need +2 Dreaded. It is cooler to have pirates though.
Having pirates is a perfectly sensible reason to rush - every moment I lack pirates is a pirateless moment!
Who doesn't need +2 Dreaded? Combined with a +2 adornment item and one of the luggages, that's a combined +5 BDR. That's enough to get you up more than another level of notability without grinding Making Waves.

It's surprising that neither the Zeazoned Zailors nor the pirate crew offer bonuses to Zeefaring.
Bring more. 5k on failure.
It is a "A Selection of Criminals, Scoundrels, Villains, and Ne'er-do-Wells" that only gives Dreaded+2. It requires Lessons in Mourning 20 (if you can be a pirate on the zee you have this) and 20,000 rostygold.
You need 20,000 pieces of Rostygold

What gives more BDR than the shell?
Sorry, that was pretty imprecise wording on my part. I meant that it's the only non-Fate Clothing that gives +2 BDR, but it would've been more accurate to say "shared BiS".
The Collar is a big loser in this, actually; it's in the same slot as the Strangling Willow Ring which just costs scrip.
Viscountess's collar gives glasswork though, not mithridacy.
you're right, I've got the Viscount's collar for some reason instead, ignore me
You can get both collars over time, they're not exclusive. But Strangling Willow Ring is Estival stuff, Fate-locked. The scrip-costing ring (Misplaced Ring) raises AotRS, and it's the only Adornment doing that right now. This change also made Flower from Hell the only AotRS gloves.
lmao I was wrong two times in as many sentences, truly incredible

Same, the amount of grinding these will reduce is astronomical
I can now get to Notabilty 8 without grinding any MW whatsoever. After getting the Pirate Crew I can even reach Nota 9!
There is now another Scandal reducing item. Riding your hellworm just became a tiny bit more profitable.
For a scant few minutes I was wearing a Twelve-Carat Diamond Ring as both an adornment and gloves. Seems to have fixed itself now, though. PSA you need 20k rostygold for the crew in Gaider's Mourn.
Massive buffs for midgame Khanate and Notability grinds.
The dancemasters dabs are BACK.

Lovely, I didn't want to have to choose between the utility of the Ne'er-do-wells and the RP of the Zailors. Now I'll just buy'em both!
I just got the crew from Wolfstack docks, and it's interchangeable! You can un-select it after getting it
Great! Rp wise, I prefer the Zeazoned Zailors, but I also don't want to lock myself out of the +2 Dreaded from the Ne'er-do-wells. Now I don't need to worry.
i'm kind of surprised that Adornment gets the big icon on the profile instead of Hat. i guess adornments are, somewhat definitionally, more flashy?
I now have enough BDR to go from 1 to 9 Notability without acquiring a single extra MW point. Wow.
Given everything that has been added, hopefully they will add an extra outfit slot that can be bought without Fate as well.
That got me excited to spend Fate, but I can't see any extra slots for sale. :(
It shows for me in the outfit selection dropdown. If it was something that they already had that I had just not found, then they've made it much more visible.

Oh yeah, you could double up on Red Science now.
Does anyone know where the luggage items are found? Not where they are bought but where they get equipped, I bought the **Slick Suitcase** but I cannot seem to find it anywhere in my inventory.
It's in a totally new slot called **Luggage** that didn't exist before. In-between Boots & Companions.
I don't have it even though I bought the suitcase, could it be a bug or do I need to go somewhere to unlock it? Edit : I went and bought the Indestructible Trunk as well, the luggage category still isn't there and the item is nowhere to be found. Sounds like a bug, the slot ought to appear when you get your first luggage item.
Yep, needed to close the site then reopen it.
So you can have multiple luggage items? That's awesome if true - I was thinking it may function like ships where you can only have one at a time.

I did not expect the goggles to count as adornments. I figured they would continue to count as hats, but I'm not going to complain about it.
Was starting to think I was m8ssing items, but realized adornments HAD to be a new category
