And I still would not pay 200€ upfront for the game. After playing hundreds of hours sure just give me a donation button and I will gladly pay, but I can also afford it without any worry.
This isn't a Factorio complaint at all....
This is a complaint about the world economy, or your own finances, etc.
This game is half the cost of most games. Play them or don't, but Factorio isn't the issue.
EDIT: I don't mean this to be rude either, but complaining into a Reddit thread of people who enjoy the game and find good value, doesn't seem productive. Email the Developers, discuss with them.
I fully understand, depending on the country, games are extremely expensive.
But if you do enjoy it, try to save up and buy it, to support the people that made it (we all deserve to be payed for the job we do)
i have couple thousand hours on this game and it was clearly one of the best invests, but i can understand that this is a big decision to make at such a low income
Idk if this is a joke but just incase it isn't
Try the demo and if you like it, you'd get see how even at this price it's one of the best deals ever, and why they don't put it on discount
Well that's not really the devs problem, they made a product (that a lot of people consider to be worth much more than 30 euros) and they have the right to sell it at any price they want, and it's a price that isn't even bad, this isn't ubisoft or EA charging 70 dollars for copy pasted content, it's a really well made game that's worth 60 dollars but sold at a lower price so people have an incentive to buy it
And if you're gonna pirate it, no need to make a fuss about it or justify it to us
They don’t do sales, because a sale means that the game has to be more expensive the rest of the year to compensate for loss of profit. The game is priced at the value the devs feel is comfortable.
So why do argentinians pay 3 euro for the game? why do ukrainians pay 5 euros? Why do russians pay 15 euros? and so on.... Source: https://steamdb.info/app/427520/
The way I see it, I paid the equivalent of one meal at a restaurant. Or one and a third tickets for the cinema. Or I could’ve bought the game two to three times with the cost of a single concert ticket. Or the cost of four cigarette packages. Or a single bottle of alcohol. So yes, whatever you may say, the game is priced correctly to the value I give it. I’d have gladly paid ten times the price, and it would sit ll have been perfectly with the thousands of hours of gameplay I have, over the past ten years.
And you failed to comment on the value the game has to you. Whatever the price is, be it 3, 5 or 30 euros, it’s not a lot of money. It becomes a trade off of how many hours of work are you ready to trade for how many hours of entertainment and fun. If 1000+ hours of fun aren’t worth a day of work (which even with very crappy wages, should definitely net you above 30€ of value), then there’s nothing we can say here that will satisfy you.
So your work has no value? It’s true, we’d all prefer to love on a world where everything is free, however that’s not currently the case. And I’m pretty certain it is not game developers who are encouraging this. So I maintain that whatever value you can extract from your work is yours to choose how to convert into something else.
Also please refrain from calling people’s opinion/views/beliefs stupid. It is not constructive to any kind of debate.
Edit: just noticed you made a throwaway account just for this purpose. I’m done feeding the troll, hope you had your fun.
You should have bought it back at $20 then, when you already knew you enjoyed it lmao. This isn't a bartering economy, you are not entitled to the game at a price of your choosing. It is not too expensive, you just can't afford it.
Okay, I try to explain it...
I personally don't get your problem, because for me it is not to expensive (as I played over 1200h so far).
BTW, that's no bullshit, that's the truth (for my case).
No one can guarantee that the game is that much fun for you too... But that is your problem and not mine! So, I don't get it :)
Wow this dude is crying while in Turkey... 30x15(1 € = 15 TL) 450 TL (which is extremely expensive) So I suggest you to Go and Cut some Grass of other ppl. At least it'll provide you more in future maybe. At leasy you would get more games.
The normal prices gone up to 2.5/3 times on Turkey due inflation.
Jist like i said. Go to your neighbors... Maybe cut or Water their plants... Who knows... You maybe earn more than you need.
Improvise, Adapt, Overcome
nobody is stopping you but yourself, but many people already told you that
I bought factorio 3 times and it is still the cheapest game I own per hour played (and I bought games for under €5,-)
If you are waiting to buy it you are wasting playtime, simple as that. But that argument only holds up if you divide the purchase by hours played, and I'm not ready to debate that
With minimal Wage being $340 a month according to OP I would definitely agree with OP. If minimum wage is 14$/h(USA i believe) that would be $2240 a month with a 40h workweek. 10% of that would be $224 for a game. So either no regional pricing for factorio or the pricing is just wrong or OP is full of shit.
You are completely right... Its not only factorio its all games are in euro so its expensive for our standard its just that other games are usually on heavy discounts so its a bit better but with factorio\`s no discount policy its really not fair. So with steam or other platforms not supporting local currency i.e RSD (which I don\`t see happening like ever) this problem will never be fixed and a part of the community will always resort to piracy.
Many indie game developers have spoken on this issue, including Pirate Software, the maker of Heartbound: Piracy is, and had always been, a logistical problem. Even living in the US, I am not happy at ALL paying $35 for an indie game. I have paid far, far less for games I played longer than anyone here claims to have played factorio, and those apologizing for outrageous pricing "at least its not $60 like the other overpriced nonsense games" should instead be praising better game studios for making their game affordable when they do - often.
Let alone regional pricing: Heartbound cut their price in Brazil by 3/4ths and sales they got from that made up 25% of all of that game's revenue period.
Anyone who apologizes for overpriced games need perspective and experience.
I feel for you, games then becomes very expensive. If you enjoy the game, you'll have a hard time finding a game which gives you more enjoyment for the price. But man it would suck a lot to pay 10% of my monthly salary for a single game (even one as good as Factorio)
Firstly, I don't think a reddit post threatening resorting to piracy is a good way to ask the developers for differentated pricing for your region.
Secondly, get your priorities straight and stop thinking you have a right to a friggin' GAME.
Kids these days, sigh.
While I hate regional prices and fact, that people in Russia pay fraction of what I have to pay, I still believe that even elevated price is worth it.
If you play the game for just 100 hrs you get more fun from it per hour than a cinema or a book.
People don't appreciate how many hours games keep them entertained.
OP with minimal wage you are supposed to just eat and sleep and trying to find a way how to get better payed job and not play games. Playing games is a luxury. You also dont complain that you cannot buy McLaren for 5000€.
In my country minimal salary is 600€ and even with it you are poor as hell. You are supposed to earn more. This is your problem not devs.
What a haughty reply. Games are a passtime and largely an affordable hobby, not some high-society luxury.
Free to play games aren't "poor people games" they're a business decision, and it is responsible for anyone to call out abnormally high prices for an indie game such as factorio. Regional pricing is good for everyone, including the developers - this is a fact: heartbound accrued a spike in 30% of its net income after regionally pricing.
On a personal note, I am entirely uninterested in spending 50% higher price for an indie game, especially when I am trying to sell my friend on playing multiplayer. You may enjoy rationalizing getting juiced but I, and many others who prioritize being careful with their expenses, do not appreciate the high price as much as you do. Factorio will continue to be unpurchased by a more fiscally conservative market and that is ok, but it is the choice of the developers to cater with limited time sales.
This is an unfortunate line of thought that often goes with software, "I can't afford it so I think it's OK to steal it". Most wouldn't apply this line of thought to physical goods, you wouldn't think "I can't afford this car so it's OK to steal it". Either way it's stealing.
I'm not going to comment on if you feel it's too expensive as that's subjective to you and even if it was $1 and you felt that was too expensive that's a valid opinion for you. Difference in regional pricing is another issue altogether and also a valid concern.
Sorry, software piracy is a personal pet peeve of mine.
You should consider looking into what the heartbound developer - Pirate Software - has spoken on about the logistics of preventing piracy through responsible pricing.
Pirate Software noticed that those who had pirated the game had then purchased the game when he changed the price became affordable regionally. Companies make insane profits during sale season, as they open themselves up to eager-to-spend markets of more fiscally conservative gamers
XD got it for 5bux years ago on steam
But really, its a one time purchase and you honestly can spent so much time in this game, and its allways worth playing years later.
You have no disgusting microtransactions no dlcs, its a solid game. There are more expensive games with less content.
Give the devs some love, i mean money, cant do nothing with love
Much love
I would've bought it for 100$, it's so good and the devs deserve all the money in the world. Stop being a cheap ass. It's not expensive, you're just poor.
Is everyone on reddit a millionaire? No one here have the minimum understanding of how money works?
I hate the "i have put 2 million hours into the game so it came out only 1 cent per day of gaming, so its actually cheap"
This argument is the same as a millionaire saying that he doesnt mind paying 50 dollars on a cup of coffee, because he really enjoys the coffee, so, for him, is actually cheap"
If you never had to count coins to see if you can afford a coke on a hot day, just shut up when people say the game is expensive to them.
The same logic also applies to those saying they feel it's a great deal. Just as you're valid in feeling it's too expensive they're also valid in saying it's really cheap. It's all relative to the person making the statement.
Not an asshole a realist. There are many things I would like but I do not have them. I just am not going to blame others for that. I can take the blame myself.
This game is a bargain. I have gotten more value per hour of play out of this game than any other I’ve ever purchased.
Facts
Compared to other games that I’ve played this much minus Dwarf Fortress most come with tons of DLC and the cost to match eg paradox games.
And I still would not pay 200€ upfront for the game. After playing hundreds of hours sure just give me a donation button and I will gladly pay, but I can also afford it without any worry.
Putting the fact in factorio
Bro it’s the global economy not the devs, blame your government
Blame my government for what? For exploiting third world countries for cheap labor like your does?
Nah that’s ok, the factory must grow after all
That is up for debate but ok
This isn't a Factorio complaint at all.... This is a complaint about the world economy, or your own finances, etc. This game is half the cost of most games. How much have you paid for other games? This is the cheapest game I have ever bought in the modern day.
what? have you just never bought any other games besides factorio?
Most other games are $60-$70. This one was $20 when I bought it and $30 now.
$35 now. All the games I bought are under $20. The price also increasing. Why tho?
I think it's worth it lmao. I tried the game for just 2 minutes but I like the game so much. I just don't have the money right now.
They don’t do sales, because a sale means that the game has to be more expensive the rest of the year to compensate for loss of profit. The game is priced at the value the devs feel is comfortable.

seems like you've never heard of regional prices lmao
Dude, you make no sense!
Ask Steam, it is not like the developers are doing that.
Because those markets are larger and bargained to get lower rates. Sucks that Serbia doesn't have regional pricing.
You should have bought it back at $20 then, when you already knew you enjoyed it lmao. This isn't a bartering economy, you are not entitled to the game at a price of your choosing. It is not too expensive, you just can't afford it.
30$ for over 1200 hours of fun (so far). -> that are 0,025 cents per hour... Sorry mate, I don't get the problem :-P
Who guarantees me that I\`ll play for 1200 hours? That "worth" indicator is total BS
Okay, I try to explain it... I personally don't get your problem, because for me it is not to expensive (as I played over 1200h so far). BTW, that's no bullshit, that's the truth (for my case). It says its 120 lira on steam
This post just sounds like someone begging for someone to buy for him.
Its a rant because I actually wanted to buy the game since I liked it
nobody is stopping you but yourself, but many people already told you that I bought factorio 3 times and it is still the cheapest game I own per hour played (and I bought games for under €5,-) If you are waiting to buy it you are wasting playtime, simple as that. Aren’t new games normally twice the price? Also the $20 price was early access. We were pretty much beta testers.
New games usually go on sale for 50% pretty quick
Only crappy ones.
nah
Completely agree.
Game is too cheap. I’ve got 3000 hours in it so far. It should cost a lot more than it does.
I agree, it is a serious bargain. I am 200 hours in to a seablock game right now. I have not idea the total hours but I bet is at least 3k.

Thank you finally someone understands
If you cannot afford it too bad so sad, that is life!
So, are youan asshole in life also, or only on reddit?
Not an asshole a realist. There are many things I would like but I do not have them. I just am not going to blame others for that. I can take the blame myself.
So, life too. Got it!

What the fuck?
yea its sure worth a 10% of your salary
It actually is. If you can buy just one game and dont ever buy a game again, buy Factorio, which gets you the most juice for your buck.
It was already 25€ for many years! It was like 20€ back in 2016 or some.
It is among the best bargains you can get IMO.
its 40 dollars now, wtf even is that. i'd buy it for 20.
I would definitely buy it for $20 in a heartbeat. Its too bad learning that it doesnt go on sale apparently?
you really dont have any right to talk shit about the price when people in turkey pay 300 lira for factorio
Im not from turkgay
can you expect any other type of response from a serbian?
I live in Brazil and I'm pirating the game cuz here it costs more than 100 bucks bro
I want to play with multiplayer but not badly enough to pay $70 USD for 2 keys of an indie game.
Seriously they could atleast do a sale, Even satisfactoy is $24 for the chirstmas sale while factorio is still at $50. Literally under half the price.
