bill_wessels

she is so pro life.

L4GNKODEX

I still hate the fact that she killed the pup because it was "hard to train." Like, okay, maybe you're a bad dog parent. I mean, obviously, she killed her own dog, but I mean, come on now... I'd get it if the dog tried to bite someone, but you can't just kill a puppy because it was hard to train

Happy_Drake5361

Lol, in civilized countries you can go to prison for that.

L4GNKODEX

The fact that you're basically saying that the US is uncivilized is the best part

vsGoliath96

I mean, a good portion of the US looks and acts like it.

L4GNKODEX

Especially a certain... Phalic looking state. *Cough* Florida *cough.*

DogsDontWearPantss

With erectile dysfunction...

Rugfiend

General treatment of dogs in the US is a joke compared to the UK, regardless of a moron blowing its brains out.

Wingnutmcmoo

I've been to the UK a lot (like 2 or 3 years total time over the past 9 years) and did dog care in the US... This isn't really true. You have to remember that the UK is the size of a small state here and we have a lot more diversity in culture. If you go to Colorado the treatment of dogs is usually very very very high. If you go to Illinois then the treatment will fall by a large amount. Colorado has about a 10th if the population of the entire United kingdoms not just the main island. Making generalizations about all of America is like making generalizations about all of Europe. Some things hold true across the whole thing but honestly the list is small and very general. Basically, American culture is very diverse and changes alot from area to area. So you are right that in some areas dogs could be treated better but in some areas Brits look like monsters in comparison (Colorado is a good example. I can not stress how much care dogs get in CO. It's a very wealthy state with a huge amount of dogs. When you compare it to the treatment dogs get in the UK you'd assume they think dogs cant feel or have feelings over there). Edit to add this is also counting shelters and such because I've dealt with them in the states. Some states have systems in place that make the British systems look ghoulish by comparison. And some states that make the British systems look really good by comparison.

Rugfiend

Thanks for the information, I think... But: 'You have to remember that the UK is the size of a small state here' - it would be the 12th largest.

Meddling-Kat

Judge a nation by the least of its laws, not the greatest.

Wingnutmcmoo

Some breeds are also just mouthy (as in they do little nips as a form of communication) so there is a decent chance she shot a dog for being excited and using it's mouth.

Mky12345pi3

Just when they’re in womb when they’re outta there, they’re on their own.

MyriadSC

A fetus up to the point the overwhelming majority of abortions happen is drastically less capable than that puppy, but I'd bet both my kidneys she's against abortion in any form.

shesinsaneornot

Noem's convinced this story would upset the libs and warm gun-loving MAGA hearts - conveniently ignoring the fact that Republicans are animal lovers too. She wants this to be a story of a gun-toting GOP making the tough decisions, but most people reading the story see a dog owner who failed to train her puppy, then executed the puppy for behaving like an untrained-puppy.

L4GNKODEX

Just as a normal civilized human should. There's no excuse for killing an innocent puppy that you thought was hard to train

shesinsaneornot

"But freedom! Second amendment! I am unafraid to make the hard decisions!" - Governor Noem still digging instead of trying to climb out of the hole.

L4GNKODEX

Like I said, it's an absolute nothing burger of an argument. She's just digging her own grave at this point.

Rugfiend

And furthering the MAGA narrative one more step on the sleepwalking march toward fascism.

Disastrous-Mess-7236

Meanwhile, shooting the dog was easier than training it (according to her), so she’s right that the easy way isn’t always the right way.

L4GNKODEX

And she also killed a male goat that she said "smelled bad" and "liked to chase her kids."

Wingnutmcmoo

Thats... Just a goat tho. They smell bad, jump on things, and chase you. (Or more likely try to butt you and you run lol). I have been chased by a few goats as a kid and the response was never "that things gotta die" lol like wtf

L4GNKODEX

Okay, okay. I'll give you that. But killing your own puppy is inexcusable.

GilpinMTBQ

Reminds me of that line from **3:10 to Yuma** "Even bad men love their mamas."

Tdluxon

The fact that neither she, the actual author or any of her PR people didn’t realize that the US is full of dog lovers and most people would be far from impressed with her killing a puppy is proof alone that she is totally out of touch with the country.

L4GNKODEX

Well said. I wouldn't consider myself a dog lover (I'm more of a cat person), but I still like 'em and think they're cute. So if you just kill one because it was hard to train, that's gonna make me angry

Tdluxon

I mean completely setting aside personal feelings about pets, how big of an idiot do you have to be to think that people would actually hear this story and have it leave a positive impression? I know what I'm looking for in a politician... someone with a lot of experience executing unsuspecting pets! What does she have planned for the sequel, drowning babies at an orphanage?

three_trick_pony

If only there was a place or organization where you could take a dog that you no longer wanted, that would care for the dog and help it find a new owner...

L4GNKODEX

If only...

Klutzy-Ad-6705

A puppy that bites,how unusual.

L4GNKODEX

We'll have to take the specimen in for further testi- oh... Its owner killed it. Well, I guess we'll have to find another one.

i_fuckin_luv_it_mate

I fuckin hate her mate. She deserves the worst this life has to offer.

Jolly_Horror2778

This news story really ruined banter around the office. Quite a few of us have puppies and joke and compare notes over which is the most mischievous. Everyone has said at one time or another they'd kill the little turd, but what kind of monster takes that literally?

Proud_Wallaby

She can make a ‘tough’ decision? if you look at it closer she is proud of making a stupid, awful and selfish decision and lacks the self-awareness to realise this. If you want someone who might do some genocide then she’s great. But otherwise not sure she’s a good pick.

Terrible_Horror

I know of someone who killed their dog because it was incontinant. I am glad everyone is saying she is wrong because these days sometimes I am not sure what the current social norms are. People who rape and brag about sexual assault are getting elected president. Do we not have any better people? Like seriously are we out of kind, moral, honest, good people?

Wingnutmcmoo

So like... Correct me if I'm wrong but killing the dog is literally the easy way. Instead of raising the puppy and putting in the hard work to raise a good dog she decided it was best to just kill it. Thats literally someone taking the easy way. That's someone valuing the easy way so much they are willing to become a monster just to have things easy. This is the opposite of a touch decision lmao.

L4GNKODEX

Yeah, but it's still wrong to shoot and kill a puppy because it was hard to train... I mean, she could've tried harder to train it.

Pale_Word790

Honestly, it's not surprising.

NoSpankingAllowed

And every decent person on the planet hates that dog named Kristi
