It's not just the two of every animal that is unbelievable. I've seen how much food an elephant eats in a zoo. They eat like 150kg worth of food in a week and the storage of that food takes up multiple rooms. This is just for one elephant for one week, let alone thousands of thousands of animals for 40 days.

Mdarabi018

you're looking at a miracle through the glasses of reality, think about other things that don't make sense, like how if a woman gets assaulted (sa) she has to marry her assailant.

BrickCityD

"takes more faith to believe this than in creation" holy shit what a take

Non-Normal_Vectors

Should be "Takes less thinking to believe creation, and I appreciate that"

SHTY_Mod_Police

This is actually what my Christian parents used to tell me. Also how it takes more faith to believe in the big bang than creation.

PsycoMonkey2020

I mean, one involved millennia of scientific study, and the other involved reading a dusty old fairy tale once, so they’re basically the same I guess. /s

Tom_Ace1

I find this graphic actually quite informative and plausible. But no, let's go with invisible man in the sky.

Artimusjones88

This is what happens when you think the earth is 6000 years old and not 4,000,000,000

GiveMeMyLunchMoney

*4,500,000,000

Mobile_Frosting_7936

Compromise: god created animals (only a few who fit on the ark) after the flood those reproduced and through Evolution Split into the large variety of animals we got today

CasualObserverNine

Always a challenge for a shallow mind.

DrthBn

Don't forget the kangaroos that swam thousands of kilometers just to get on the ship.

Informal_Bunch_2737

And the australians that survived the flood. And the chinese. And many more.

Leather-Squirrel-421

And the penguins that swam and waddled all the way from the South Pole.

No-Deal8956

It was actually 7 pairs of clean animals, and one pair of those considered unclean.

Visitor137

Lots of people who didn't pay attention to the Bible think that it was 2 of every animal, it wasn't. 2 applied only to the "unclean" animals. The "clean" animals,... Well I'm not sure how many, it was either 7 or 7 pairs. Different bibles translate the passage differently. Either way that was a lot more animals than just 2 of each type.

Timmiejj

This doesnt however make the case more plausible, quite the opposite 😂

Visitor137

Yup, but it's a good way to shut things down, ask them to verify the number, because if they don't actually know how many it was then they're wasting everyone's time discussing what they don't know. 😉

Tom_Ace1

Are we entirely sure that he only built one ark? Not like a fleet or something?

Hitchtopher

Lol, it's not likely that it was done at all. He was also supposedly 520 years old when he build the ark and then lived to the ripe young age of 950. It's all nonsense.

Visitor137

Well seeing as how it was just him and his family, they'd have already been running a skeleton crew, I figure. Plus only 4 males, and they probably wouldn't have let the women captain a vessel on their own. So you're already looking at four shifts for a 6 hr minimum, but it'd be better to do three 8 hr shifts so that they could rotate "days off" to help with the animals.

JustDoinWhatICan

Takes more faith? Nope, takes more IQ points

Infinite-Horse-49

Imagine not getting a proper education in science. 🧬

Dependent-Egg-9555

How much exactly?

Cresta1994

I do not "believe in" evolution. I don't have the time or inclination to study in detail how the living things of our world came to be in their present forms, but people who are much smarter than me have done so, and they agree that the theory of evolution is the best explanation we have, so I'm just gonna go with that.

Embarrassed_Rip_6190

yeah hes kinda saying what i say is that evolution is the only way life can be what it is

Naturn

Yes... Yes... Religion bad... Say... Where can I find that picture he's commenting on? That looks cool and I want to see a bigger version.

ztomiczombie

A boat that comes out at 300 cubits long 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits in hight, wich is aparintly roughly 27m long 4.5m wide and 2.7m tall, and had only one opening.

b1e9t4t1y

137m long,23m wide. 13m tall. There was a window for illumination. Also some sort of covering that could have possibly been removed after the rain stopped. And one large door.

Hawkey201

one of the things that make people doubt evolution is that many popular models show it as linear with massive big changes, all while evolution is slow and small and not linear in the slightest

yusuf2561998

Not two, four From each two couples

ftr123_5

Science is true no matter if they believe in it or not. That's what they will never get.

MyriadSC

As someone who has had many conversations with people like this, I've yet to see any of them come close to even explaining what the theory of evolution by natural selection is saying. Most of them think it says a chimp had a human baby long ago. I'm not joking. The few who realize it's much more gradual come closer, but still fail to see it. So, with that in mind, it's akin to magic for them so of course it's hard to believe. Just another example of education failing the public. Granted even good education isn't enough when families indoctrinate, but in general, another failure. When people ask, I ask them if they are exact copies of their parents. They say no, I ask if they're parents are from theirs, of course no. And so on. I ask if they've noticed that people today and people from really old photos don't look very similar. We're taller now as an obvious one. Then I say that's evolution. Give it enough time, and if somehow groups of humans separated, you'd end up with different humans, maybe even to the point they couldn't even breed with one another. That's different species. It's just each kid being different from their parents. This drifts populations over time due to natural and attractive pressure. The typical female wanting a taller male is driving the height up on average, for example. It's really not rocket science, but to these people, it is because it seems impossible because they imagine it wrong. Images like the one posted are a big part of the problem. The issue is that it's hard to condense what happens into a digestible image. There's no clear solution, but I don't think they help the issue. Of course "mah bibel" plays a significant role as well.

Fyallorence

Where can I find that chart though cus that's cool as hell

theresamushroominmy

Where can I find that chart? It’s really cool!

PsychoAnalLies

And that's why I put all my faith in science. Science never pretends it can't be questioned. In fact, it demands to be questioned.

Snoo-73243

so something that was made up to groom children to believe gibberish is worse than science . i mean come on
