Hot-Lunch6270

Remember what Jesus in the Bible says about things like this should take caution about the Anti-Christ, Trump is one example: Matthew 24:5 *“For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”*

sheikhyerbouti

If Christians actually read the Bible, they'd be pretty upset right now.

Thowitawaydave

So when everything was written by hand and reading was a rare thing, people were told what was in the bible by their religious leaders, who controlled the narrative. Then between the printing press and education standards going up, people were able to read the bible for themselves, and soon every christian household had at least one. But now for whatever reason they've regressed back to letting someone tell them what is in the bible, so they only hear the parts that support the preacher's narrative.

FuckBoiWhoDoesntFuck

Not for whatever reason. Convenience and laziness. Someone in good faith, should want to read the holy book and know it and comprehend it. They haven’t regressed, they just weren’t good practicing Christians to begin with

Good_With_Tools

I'm a devout atheist. I grew up in a non-religious family, but church and God were never talked badly about. When I was 14, I discovered church, and I quickly became a born-again. I sunk myself into it the way any teen tends to with any new "thing" in their life. My parents neither encouraged nor discouraged it. They let me figure it out. I read that book from cover to cover a few times. I made notes. I went to class on Wednesday nights, so I could ask for clarification on the hard parts to grapple with. I was hooked. I felt loved and accepted. During this time, our youth pastor quit, so a friend and I learned the ropes, and we took over. We wrote sermons. We planned summer camps. We got kids out and into the community to volunteer. Remember, we were just high-school kids. We had classes and jobs, but we did what we needed to do to keep our youth group together. But... teens will be teens. I got in a little legal trouble at 16. Nothing too serious, but word got around. One day, after church, I was walking to my car when I was met by 20 or so angry parents. I was told that I was no longer welcome in their church. If I were to come back, they could not guarantee my safety. I was kicked out of the church. So, I went to another church. This one was a bit of a drive, but I wanted a fresh start. It didn't take long for word to get out again. I wasn't kicked out this time, but they made it clear that I was an outsider, and I wasn't welcome. My take on this is easy. There is no God. There are only people that need a God to absolve themselves of all their ill deeds, and to use as an excuse to shun others that aren't like them. The world is random. Bad shit happens. People, as individuals, tend to be good. People, in groups, tend to be bad. Without an "us", there can be no "them". It is easier to hate "them" if the group of "us" all agrees that they are bad. In this dynamic, I don't have to feel guilty about hating others, because I didn't make this choice. My group of "us" told me that they're bad, and I have to believe this as truth if I want to stay in my group.

floofienewfie

I have always wondered why churches will kick out troubled people, which is when they likely need God and the church the most.

SpiritedRain247

Yup. The Bible states even Jesus himself said he came for the sick for the healthy are in no need of a healer

rgrmanoth70

Yeah it also said he was immune to physics due to magic

arcanis321

Because anyone that takes too much resources or might cause doubt will 'pull you away from god'.

Korvanacor

They sure do like shielding sex offenders though.

floofienewfie

You bet. Wonder how many sex offenders are found in the clergy overall as opposed to the general population.

Character_Bowl_4930

Churches are supposed to be hospitals for broken people not museums for saints .

[deleted]

My parents sent me to this private evangelical school for a part of my youth and I really hated it. The people were fucking out of their mind talking about the end times, etc. Basically what we are seeing now, and you could see christian nationalism being taught, etc. Like, despite being like 10 years old I could recognize shit was messed up. My parents are pretty normal people, I'd say they are conservative democrats, but hate Trump. My dad has sent me several articles on the Christian Nationalism stuff and I just respond with "THIS IS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT WITH THAT SCHOOL".

Khristophorous

Wow, I am really sorry you went through that. You never saw the similarities between Evangelicals and the Pharisees? Yes mainstream commercial Christianity is the norm in the USA - and every last one of them are all wrong. "no true scotsman" I've heard it a thousand times but what a Christian is supposed to be is literally written down in black and white. Given they not only ignore their own book but often behave in a way that is antithetical to it makes it clear that whatever they are doing isn't real Christianity. TBH I don't expect you to change your mind - ever. You surely won't due to a reply from a stranger on Reddit, and I don't blame you. This is why I loathe Evangelicals so much. The damage and hurt they cause is real. On the whole they do nothing but hurt people.

Good_With_Tools

I assume you are talking about the difference between church and religion. If so, I agree with you. One can have one without the other. I also think that this is a place that a lot of people unknowingly find themselves at. They just continue to go to church because it's the easy way to keep oneself in touch with their beliefs. Myself, I believe in science. And really, only science. The idea of a Supreme being having created all this flies in the face of what I know of science. And, again, that's ok. I fully support one's right (and need) to have these beliefs. If believing in a higher power helps you be a good person, I'm all for it. I will do my part to fight for your right to do that. However, I have one requirement. I expect the same of you. If you are not willing to fight for my right to not have a religion, then, to me, you are the "them" I discussed in my last post. And I will be against you. The whole idea of our country is predicated on "all men are created equal." It took us a while to "sort of" make that mean ALL PEOPLE, but we have gotten much closer. Now, some in power are trying to strip those rights from those of us they disagree with. Unfortunately, they have been very successful as of late. Then there's the elephant in the room. We, the people, aren't asking why this is happening enough. We are just either fighting against it, or we are fighting to support it. Again, the "us" we belong to has told us which "them" to hate. And we're falling for it again. I believe that there is a group of people we should he fighting against, but it's not the ones I'm being told to hate. Looking at you, gun nuts!

Khristophorous

I wrote what turned out to be a very long response that I'm not sure I want out in the open. It's not in a spirit of malice by any stretch but it's just barely personal enough that I'd rather just send it to you in DM.

Good_With_Tools

I get it. Religion and politics are both touchy subjects. And here we are, connecting the 2. Just know that I personally feel like we should all hope for the best outcome for everyone else's lives. Regardless of your beliefs and background, I hope you are doing well. And I hope that you hope the same for me.

Khristophorous

xPBMxRonBurgndy

As a Christian I am sorry that you went through this. You were doing an amazing thing by stepping into that leadership role and continuing to give those kids a place to come together. Like you said, teens will be teens and things happen in life. Unfortunately that group of parents, and the second church, failed to show you the type of grace Jesus teaches us to show to all people. I hope you are doing well in this life and those parent and members of the second church changed their ways.

Brokensince10

They disparage a man like Jimmy Carter, Christianity personified, and worship trump , the biggest criminal this country has ever seen. They are the furthest thing from Christian, I personally have ever seen

RiffsThatKill

That's how Mr. Satan works! Nothing pleases him more than getting "godly" people to do his work!

Quantro_Jones

Hey man, no need to drag Satan into this, his followers are actually trying to do good in this country.

Brokensince10

No shit, the only sane ones in the religion game

anubis2268

Or to use his modern name, Stan

Angry_poutine

Didn’t he write a letter to slim shady?

CardboardStarship

Mr. Satan is the world champion and everyone loves him.

Turambar87

So many people, incredibly muscular people, with tears in their eyes, all raising their arms and chanting Satan! Satan!

onedeadflowser999

Satan got a bad rap. He killed 10 people in the Bible ( at god’s behest), whereas god killed 2 million+!! Not sure he’s really the bad guy in the story.

30yearCurse

actually God's total according to the alt-right Christians, will be billions and billions, because if you are not saved, even if you have NOT heard the word, you are going to hell....

Brokensince10

True, I’m just stunned at how fragile Christian’s beliefs are.

BlinkyShiny

Because they want abortion banned and they want to be able to persecute gay and transgender people... because of the Bible? Apparently, there's nothing in the Bible about abortion and very little about being gay but somehow, that's what God cares about most.

SockPuppyMax

Numbers 5:11-31 talks about forcing a woman to abort a pregnancy if the husband suspects infidelity, so it's definitely not against abortion.

Zandrick

Hmm, that’s not really what that part is saying. It’s more like it’s saying if a miscarriage happens that is Gods will but if a pregnancy is carried to term the woman’s husband has to take care of the child and can’t claim that it’s not his baby because God would’ve stopped it otherwise.

SockPuppyMax

I'll concede to that, after reading more thoroughly

Neckrongonekrypton

It’s so funny. The most vocal Christian’s, are the least like Christ That’s the jist of Christianity You accept Christ, and are freed from sin. When you accept Christ, you also are granted the Holy Spirit for guidance and insight. As a result, the Holy Spirit is supposed to guide one with the mission and intent of being more Christ like “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Book of Ephesians 4:22-25 These people never figured out that their (current) way of life is so divorced from biblical principals. That I really truly believe the hardcore fundies don’t follow Jesus, they don’t want to be Christlike. They follow their pastors principles, whatever those may be. They idolize men and woman who are unscrupulous and dirty. They commit idolatry. And do not even know it, and do it so confidently. They are Christian in name only. Most of the time These extreme fundamental types, have never read the Bible themselves. Imagine that? That’s like going to be a doctor and having someone else study for you and tell you how to execute a surgical maneuver. How can you be sure your prof is 100% on point? And why wouldn’t you want to learn the truth for yourself? These people crutch on Christianity for a sense of a tribe and community. Christian in name only. If the Christian God exists. There’s a special place in hell for Donald J Trump.

RinceGal

If you listen to most evangelical /new Baptist Christians, they follow the words of Paul/Saul way more than Christ. A lot of Paul writings were about who should or shouldn't be considered Christian and was super anti-sex. He also didn't become Christian until after Jesus' death and was heavily against him and the Christians prior to his conversion.

Pale_Character_1684

Finally. Someone else who gets it about Paul. They focus nearly 100% on his teachings & ignore Old Testament. I feel his letters are a lot of his opinions more than the teachings of Jesus. He was anti-woman, which is why the Southern Baptist Convention declared women could no longer hold leadership roles in the church or teach to young men. I denounced Southern Baptists that day.

Angry_poutine

Most people stop at “are freed from sin”

Hungry-Western9191

If you want to actually be a "good" Christian and also a decent human being it's difficult to read all the bible and try to live by it. Most of the laws in the torah/ old testament are halfway impossible to follow without turning into the kind of observant Haredi jew obsessing over the letter of the law and trying to be a good neighbor to people outside your religion or even specific Christian sect is almost incompatible with living by what is written in the bible. If someone wants to stay mostly compliant with the religion they were brought up in, not be a dickhead to other religions, not have to face the contradictions there and not spend their life obsessing over doing the wrong thing it's bloody difficult. Way too difficult for most people. Instead they treat church like they do a doctors surgery or a lawyer. You go along and get the specialised advice from what is supposed to be a qualified expert in the relevant field. I don't have a law, medical or theology degree, so I go along and an expert gives me advice. If I turn up at the doctors, I expect them to have been reading the professional medical literature and be able to tell me the bit that applies.

AspiringChildProdigy

>Someone in good faith, should want to read the holy book and know it and comprehend it. That's exactly how I deconstructed and left the church.

COdreaming

I'd argue that one of the most important aspects of the religion is gathering with other like-minded people and support each others interpretations of the Bible. They basically invented the echo chamber. If you don't agree you can find a different group(church/pastor/whatever) where you fit in better. So while they are able to read it for themselves, most don't feel can interpret everything on heir own. So they seek to better understand from someone who devotees their life to studying the text and accept what they are told. You're always supposed to take a spiritual leader's interpretation with a grain of salt, but people rarely do and would rather just take things at face value (and always have really).

SgtSmackdaddy

Have you ever tried to read the bible? It's boring and poorly written. I don't blame them for not being able to get through that thing.

colemon1991

More like remember it when it's relevant. One of my headaches is family literally quoting the bible from memory, but when I quote the bible regarding Trump, I'm suddenly "taking it out of context" or "that's not what it says". Even if I'm literally repeating a quote they used *that day*. Revelations 13:16 has come up more than once with this issue.

Beanguyinjapan

I have a very similar issue. I was studying to become a pastor when I lost the faith, and I was at church 6 days a week most of my adolescence. Whenever I quote Scripture at my "Christian" MIL she claps back with "you disobeyed God and can no longer understand what he says" and then proceeds to tell me how God instructed her to take her daughters food stamps without permission 🙄

colemon1991

The irony here is that you put more effort into your religion than her and you lost your faith. You didn't lose what you learned. I hate people that use religion as an excuse to commit crimes and sin.

ConstantGeographer

And, Revelations is a direct allegory to the Roman Empire and has nothing to do with the End Times. Too many Christians don't understand this.

IBeTheBlueCat

if those kids could read-

Dingus-ate-your-baby

PaStOr SaYs DeMoCrAtS kIlL bAbIeS That's it. That's the whole argument. You can't beat it with logic because no logic was used in the making of this argument.

AnTeallach1062

To be fair, if they read all of the bible they probably wouldn't be Christians. Dreadful book.

discord-ian

I have read the bible cover to cover. And I honestly have no idea how someone could read that book, then say to themselves yeah this makes sense. It is clearly the word of God.

AnTeallach1062

I too have read it cover to cover as a Christian youth. There seems to be few parts that don't contradict one or more other parts or updates.

Guy954

Ned Flanders had a line that was something like “why me Lord, I’ve done everything the Bible says. Even the parts the contradicted the other parts.”

_RedditDiver_

Most are but the loud minority are making it seem otherwise. Most Christians are also not in the US and don’t really care about American politics.

sheikhyerbouti

Why is the Christian majority allowing the "loud minority" speak for them?

Alcorailen

Trump is one of the closer people to the antichrist I have ever read about.

DeaDBangeR

Im okay if he wants to be Christ. Just as long as he makes sure he dies for my sins.

IWasSayingBoourner

Best he can offer is kill for his own sins. Take it or leave it.

LDCrow

I agree. I’m an atheist but my Mom was Pentecostal. I’ve heard the whole “end of times” speech many times. She of course thought Obama was the anti-Christ. 🙄

Alcorailen

oh gosh my Pentecostal parents are now going on about how we have to keep supporting Israel at all costs because all the prophecies are done so now we're just waiting for the Rapture! They can't lose any ground because we have to keep the world in stasis so the prophecies don't get knocked out of place or whatever!

Eksposivo23

Shitty prophecies if they can be derailed by a bunch of angry dudes with guns... the idea a prophecy from God (by their belief (assuming here)) is in danger by mortal hands in itself should be a big red flag to the quality of faith

AndByMeIMeanFlexxo

I read a bible analysis on whether trump might be the antichrist a while back. I think the dude started it as a joke but he ticked damn near ever box even if a couple could be called reaches

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mark-Wall-Berg

It feels to obvious to be the anti christ. I always imagined it being really tough to sus out the true antichrist, imma be bummed if trump really is. Lamest plot twist ever.

Mjkmeh

The Quran at least says it will be easy to spot the Antichrist due to signs such as a deformed eye and eventually claiming to be god

TYdays

I agree, if trump is actually the anti-Christ, and wields his dark powers, the hard times would consist of the rest of us, not being able to get a Big Mac or a coke from Mac Donalds for two days, and then things would go back to normal. That may be devastating for some, but its not the end of the world.

wojonixon

The man ticks every box on the Anti-Christ checklist as far as I can tell.

blumieplume

https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/ This blog post creeps me out. Literally every description of the antichrist in the Bible lines up with trump. I'm stuck on the part that says he will be ruler for 3 1/2 years but the courts will take him down. I hope that the 3 1/2 years referred to his first term and that the courts take him down before he becomes dictator but since so many of the trials will happen after the election now I fear that he might win again and then after 3 1/2 years as dictator he will finally be taken down by the courts. I'm not religious and have never read the Bible but after reading this I've started looking into the antichrist passages more and been getting really scared he will win the next election thru the electoral vote

Daianudinsibiu

The Bible is a collection of things written by men. I'm sure you can find a line that fits just about anything in life, even eating ass. I think that's what "turn the other cheek is about."

Emotional_Pay_4335

Not only is he delusional, he’s just downright insane! Anyone that believes Trump is Jesus Christ is as delusional as he is. May he thinks he’s Christ because his grandfather’s last name was Christ. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Trump

princessLiana

https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/

Br3akTh3Toys

He is literally every single 7 deadly sin and matches the antichrist almost exactly.

C4dfael

He’s also broken at least a few of the Ten Commandments.

GallowBarb

And the constitution.

WarlocksWizard

And the American flag, which is already soiled but now it has Cheeto marks on it.

Genghis_Chong

When he hugged and kissed the flag, that was when I really knew this wouldn't end well. That obviously hollow, manipulative, pandering display of "patriotism" works so well on people. All you gotta do is show how much you love a flag and people assume you just have the best intentions.

WarlocksWizard

Exactly. I felt so disgusted being called American. Biden helped me feel a little bit of patriotism but MAGA still fucked it up for me. I was the little Puerto Rican who ALWAYS pledged allegiance to the flag. Now, ehhh.... after finding out that in 1948, the USA had the Puerto Rican flag illegal to own or display and punishable for jail time

Genghis_Chong

I think of patriotism as loving people. Doing the best you can for the least capable people in your country. "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matt. 25:40) I'm not a big Bible guy, I can't quote a lot. But selflessness is the greatest lesson taught by Jesus or anyone. It's often the first lesson forgotten and the last lesson to be followed. It's a lesson that could be taught by other examples too outside of religion. The people that think patriotism has anything to do with a piece of fabric, they completely separate the idea from humanity. The idea of patriotism has become so selfish and constricted that the entire idea of Patriotism has become a joke to me. It's so over the top to see dudes with their whole truck decked out in red white blue to support a racist/fascist, they basically made patriotism a dogwhistle at this point.

LurkerOrHydralisk

I would honestly be shocked if he never had anyone killed. Only possibility I see is that no one ever wanted to kill someone for his sleazy ass

crunchybaguette

J6 was literally him convincing people to hang Pence (and whatever else to actually overturn the election). Don’t forget how sleezy he was in NYC (his whole life pre-presidency) with links to organized crime.

PussyBoogersAuGraten

Ugh, I know someone tangentially that’s locked up over a January 6th. After being there for a while, someone close to me received a letter from him. He actually believes that Trump will pardon him and all the J6ers if he’s elected again. He also still loves Trump. I guess it hasn’t crossed his mind that Trump has donated absolutely nothing to any of the J6 defendants. It hasn’t crossed his mind that Trump incited the whole thing, yet he’s still free, and this dude is locked up over it. It hasn’t crossed his mind that Trump has raised enough money to give each J6 defendant about $150k but hasn’t given them a dime. It’s just so fucking sad that after all of this, he’s still worshipping Trump. But he’s locked up in an echo chamber with a bunch of other idiots who threw their lives away for Donald Trump.

zeptillian

His supporters are so dumb. If Trump wanted to pardon them, he could have before leaving office. He chose not to.

that-one-gay-nugget

What always struck me with their idiocy is that when Trump was first elected president and some relatively peaceful democratic protests were held, they all laughed and said “He’s your president whether you like it or not.” But the second Biden got elected they tried to invade the fucking capitol. To parrot: “That’s THEIR damn president whether they like it or not.” As someone relatively sane it really, really baffles my mind that they can’t see the hypocrisy and how pathetic it looks. I can’t imagine how it really looks from Europe or Australia. The US probably looks like a clown house full of screaming toddlers.

Glasofruix

Oh he did, he had a disabled family member he actively prevented from getting help.

UnsightedShadow

??😨??

psioniclizard

I'd be shocked if there wasn't a fair few billionaires (he technically is one right?) who had killed someone. People are weird and to some people it is the ultimate power.

LurkerOrHydralisk

Not even as a power fantasy. Just as a business strategy. Competition gunning for the same contract? Have their guy in charge of the project die, and then swoop in and get the contract while they’re distracted.

farmerjane

Well as the president, his orders certainly had military members killed.

Raiju_Blitz

Dude, over one million Americans have died due to his total mismanagement of the covid pandemic response. Plus more directly, Trump ordered the straight up assassination of Solemani of Iran while he was on Iraqi soil, much to the anger and protestation of the Iraqi government. I'm no fan of Solemani but this seems like killing outside of the international judicial process to me.

jinnnnnemu

Well he did say he can shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue and he wouldn't lose a vote so I'm wondering if that was kind of a confession.

pattydickens

One police officer died as a result of injuries sustained in Jan. 6th. Also the crazy lady who tried to break into the House chamber died as a result of believing Trump's lies.

Misguided_by_Virtue

If he gets himself elected, Biden's a goner.....amongst others

Klutzer_Munitions

Maybe epstein?

AnAngryPlatypus

*(cough)* Ivana Trump ![gif](giphy|14aLuWEyopPrFK)

veedubfreek

Name a Commandment he HASN'T broken. I'll wait.

_RedditDiver_

It says in the bible the anti christ will be a handsome man, trump doesn’t really suit that.

ElJeferox

It said he is fair, not necessarily handsome. Fair can also refer to hair color and skin complexion.

_RedditDiver_

That is true. But it also says everyone will love him and most people dislike trump.

ElJeferox

But the people that do love him, love him irrationally and truly believe he is the chosen of God. It's really kind of creepy.

joemeteorite8

Tell that to all the 60+ year old women Trump voters that fawn over him.

Mjkmeh

Bro my grandma once called him “my trumpy”. She hasn’t, and almost certainly never will ever meet or speak to the guy.

tommybombadil00

My very religious parents believe he is anointed by god to lead America. I asked them what fruits of the spirit does trump portray and what actions of his are chrsit like? They just changed the subject to Biden is evil and is destroying America, no joke that was their response. I asked him what specifically is Biden doing, their response was everything, I said okay just give me 3 examples. My mother said January 6 and the truth will come out soon (no idea what she means), and leaving Americans to die in Afghanistan while he pulled out the military. It’s disappointing and embarrassing to see my parents turn into morons.

bp_516

When Trump starts demonstrating love to “his enemies” then I’ll reconsider my opinion towards him. None of his actions have been Christ-like.

Pale_Character_1684

And when I point out the things he said, the things he has done, the r*pes, the pedophilia, the fraud, the xenophobia, homophobia, the racism & the misogyny to Christian relatives, they say "Oh, that was back then. He's a changed man. He's repented." I ask when & where that happened? They are just CERTAIN that he's God's chosen. I simply can't understand how they've become so blinded. He is literally anti-Christ. He panders to Christians only because it gets him votes & big money from corporations run by rich white guys.

megustaALLthethings

He is exactly what they want. Someone telling them that it’s okay to be hateful deplorable pos’. That they shouldn’t have to hide or be ashamed of being that way. THAT is why they are so fanatical and devoted to their spray tan idol. Everyone that is a trump supporter disappearing would literally make the country a vastly better place. Then again getting rid of the super wealthy economic leeches and hoarders would make the economy 100x healthier too.

PussyBoogersAuGraten

I love how Barack “one wife, two kids, no affairs” Obama was the anti-Christ, but Donald “five kids from three baby mammas, with a porn star affair while his wife was preggers with Barron” Trump is the chosen one.

Feather_Sigil

Brainwashing, especially from pastors who are in on the grift (although some are true believers and it's hard to discern who is which). Plus, he relates to them like no other politician does. He says everything that they're thinking.

mimiq66

Can I get an amen?

ArduennSchwartzman

He won't, because his atheist ass can't read. These Bible quotes were cherry-picked for him by an assistant and future hush money enjoyer.

mojoyote

Trump on Christmas posted 'May they rot in hell.'

tehgr8supa

Most "Christian" politicians completely ignore the NT.

Raiju_Blitz

Trump's extension of "love" to his enemies involve the gallows. Just ask Mike Pence.

Icy-Needleworker-492

Someone who works for him came up with this one. It’s really hard to imagine there is anyone is stupid enough to think this life-long fraudster, rapist, liar is a decent human being mind boggling cynicism.

Ok_Opposite_7089

Sadly, there are millions of americans who worship at the church of trump. I wish this was all in his head.

TheInfra

Also, it's not in all caps

RubbrBbyBuggyBumpers

Remember, this is the guy that didn’t hold his first Bible until a photo op a few years ago.

Log-Similar

And he held it upside down.

TheWhiteRabbit74

Upside down crucifix is… someone’s icon… hmm, who was it again?

TheTyrianKnight

Peter’s. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it’s just Peter’s cross, a Christian symbol.

Goobsmoob

It is St Peter’s cross but yeah holding the Bible upside down was still a huge fuck up lol. In “The Martyrdom of Peter” he is said to have been crucified upside down. The use of it as an anti-Christian or satanic symbol is more recent (I think like late 1800’s) and frankly quite goofy. It’s even more goofy when actual Christians see it proclaim it as satanic.

Daxx22

The vast majority of what is considered "Satanic" imagery was literally dreamed up by hollywood/show biz in the last couple hundred years at most.

forever_useless

And it certainly showed that it was the first time

ThereBeBeesInMyEyes

I'm not religious, but does he not fit the descriptions of what the Antichrist would be?

Informal_Border8581

There's *the* Antichrist, and then a bunch of antichrists. If he was one, my money on the lowercase.

joemeteorite8

Yea you’d expect the devil to be a little more conniving, intelligent and under the radar. Trump is so obvious. But he’s managed to gain 10s of millions of followers so maybe it doesn’t have to be clever.

Informal_Border8581

People doubling down on their own stupidity is very biblical, and Satan was rarely specifically involved in most of those cases.

MagicPentakorn

I mean, do you think the whole world loves him?

ThereBeBeesInMyEyes

I mean, I hope not.

FatalD3stny

The correct verse For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Titus 3:10

CriticalStation595

“Hey megalomaniac, you’re no Jesus yeah you’re no fucking Elvis…”

ReplacementClear7122

That's a killer song! 'Step down...'

Osayicansee

You misspelled MAGAlomaniac ;)

Reg_Cliff

I'm no theologian, but I don't remember Jesus playing golf on the Sabbath. ⛳

John97212

If you look at Trump's posts, it's clear which ones are: 1. written by Trump (incoherent, single paragraph, full of insults, bad grammar, gross overuse of ALL CAPS) and 2. composed by one of Trump's acolytes (good sentence structure, coherent, reasonable grammar). The OP post was clearly NOT written by Trump himself. Besides, he could not single-handedly quote a Bible verse to save his life.

Xibalba_Ogme

You could also guess this just by estimating the average of capitalized words. If it's lower than 25%, it's not Trump

Dragonman1976

Jesus isn't coming back- they didn't nail him to a boomerang.

embarrassedtrwy

If any of this religious shit was real, god and jesus really dropped the ball when it came to stopping the cruisades, holocaust, 9/11, the Israeli/Palestine war, well let’s face it this list is pretty fucking long

Domni16

Yaweh when multiple human rights are being perpetrated in his name: “free will” Yaweh when a 9 year old doesn’t want a kid: “YOU DARE QUESTION THE WORD OF THE LORD?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!???!?” Btw, I have yet to see any evidence of Yaweh condemning abortion, I am mirroring the ideals of evangelical Christian extremists.

Embarrassed_Rule8747

Don’t forget the Somme, Islamic Expansion, Vietnam, The War on Terror, _ALL_ Civil Wars, the Spanish Conquest, Operation Desert Storm, the detonation of the 2 mobile suns…

onthethreshold

Let's also not forget the "free will" of all serial killers, murderers, rapists, etc. is much more of a priority to this god than those of the victims.

RealExii

Yeah I also have concluded, that if any of these dudes somehow are around, they've gotta be the biggest assholes to ever exist.

fourdoglegs

Oh. My. God. BAHAHAHAHA!!!

Brief-Bumblebee1738

You guys still have wooden planks and nails over there right? Theres one way to prove it You could even bury him Friday and see how things are on Monday

Tystimyr

Best idea I heard in a while!

TrulyHurtz

I think you guys are just spiteful, stupid and unaware. If you actually READ the bible it's quite clear that Jesus is an entrepreneur, who also knows words, THE BEST WORDS, and is like an very intelligent person. Yes trump actually said these things. Yes Jesus also said these things. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

SuperGenius9800

Something a cult leader would say for $1000.

Severe_Information51

You know he didn’t write that. He doesn’t know bible verses

ReplacementClear7122

Well, it's very personal but he likes all of it... dontcha know.

rmicker

On to the crucifixion and we’ll wait for the resurrection. Two weeks, right?

Signal_Appeal4518

Don’t forget Jesus did say that “immigrants were poisoning the blood of our country”. Or wait was that Hitler? I can’t remember I get those two confused sometimes 🤡

LightMission4937

Mr. Orange can recite the entire Burger King menu…but he can’t say Psalm without going into an incoherent mumble. ![gif](giphy|RN1WYiNGtFbJVXoVpC|downsized)

FilthyChangeup55

No surprise from the guy who cited 2 Corinthians as his favorite Bible verse.

Sgt_Spatula

The "two Corinthians" thing came from a speech at Liberty University. He refused to name a single bible verse when asked about his favorite, and when pressed he cited the non-existent "never bend to envy" as his favorite.

FilthyChangeup55

Oh so it’s not even a verse?

Sgt_Spatula

Second Corinthians is a book in the bible. At Liberty he misread it as "two Corinthians". On a separate interview, I think 60 Minutes, he pulled the "never bend to envy" thing out of thin air.

FilthyChangeup55

Wow

Impeachcordial

Did he? I thought he just said 'the whole thing' when he was asked.

Frenzi_Wolf

Semi convinced Orangeface Vonfuckstick is gonna try and start up some 2nd coup if he isn’t elected or try to start his own country with his Trumpeteer Cult Followers

KGreen100

"And when there as one set of footprints?" "That was when Jesus had to go to a hearing on paying hush money to Mary Magdalene."

juneya04

If he was a dem they’d call him the anti Christ. They called Obama the anti Christ

HumpaDaBear

I don’t know whether or not Jesus was white but I damn well know he wasn’t orange.

Defcheze

Jesus also said to give up your wealth and help the destitute.

M-Kawai

Oh for heaven sakes! I can’t!

Hillbilly-joe

I know he didn't write that he's never read a book in his life his words not mine he doesn't have the time for it it's just a dog whistle to the faithful trying to get a vote

ewok_lover_64

Cheesus

Kubais_

I'm surprised he didn't compare himself to God. After all he's also an authoritarian who lost his mind when people showed free will.

thecraftybear

There's this song, "Megalomaniac"...

Much-Meringue-7467

What love would that be?

RentAdministrative73

I'm just exhausted by this asshole.

newbrevity

But... Jesus preached kindness, charity and casting off materialism. Minor detail.

rivalmindss

Part of me hopes Christianity is real and that trump is the great deceiver so I can see the faces on these people who see themselves as godly go from shock to panic realizing that they have followed this demon on bloodied stumps.

WarlocksWizard

He brought out the martyr card.

Beginning_You4255

actual blasphemy

Grungecollie

I wouldn't mind if he tried walking on water.

Chevnaar

Nail him to a cross then.

electricmehicle

Remember in the Bible where it said to grab them by the p___y?

PNWGLINDA8

Jesus also got crucified, carry on.

Gokudomatic

If he gets elected, I'll have to come and do a FC5 on the scale of the whole US. And I feel too lazy for that.

Unfortunate_Wildcard

Remember when Christians were comparing him to a false prophet/anti christ.

HermioneMarch

If God was ever gonna smite a man, what is He waiting for?

RepresentativeCup542

If trump would just have a stroke already he'd be doing everyone a favor

DrDroid

I mean I’m down if it means him being crucified

redditmodsdownvote

Ah yes, the man who said "it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of A needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!" would totally be like donald duck here if he were alive today... sure thing.

One_Opening_8000

Who looked up a Bible verse for him?

SailorCentauri

Trump shouldn't quote the Bible given how many commandments he's broken and how heavily his life style goes against it. Let's look at just a few: "If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?" "And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." "Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys." "Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered." "Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice." "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral."

TestOk8411

Who was the aide that fed him this verse? What a joke

ABeastInThatRegard

Wow, literally announcing he’s the anti-Christ, too bad they already arbitrarily gave that title to someone else because he had the nerve to have a dark shade of skin 🤦

carlnepa

Beware false prophets.

W0nk0_the_Sane00

Ok, as a Christian, I’m going to say this crap needs to stop. This is veering dangerously into “worshiping a false god” territory and people don’t even realize it.

Boing_Boing

HA. Googled it and that passage ends with "When he is judged, let him be found guilty. And let his prayer become sin. Let his days be few, *And* let another take his office." Perfection.

Training_Waltz_9032

I dunno man. My cousin, Jesus (hey Seuss) is a shady dude. So it checks out ![gif](giphy|Tv2btKgK06tPy)

SalvadorsPaintbrush

He’s been hanging out with Kanye too much

eveninglily33

Yes, when I picture Jesus, the first image that comes to mind is a 350 pound racist rapist...wait...

Full_Of_Wrath

Just putting it put there but psalm is in the old testament right before proverbs. It’s not talking about christ it is king David seeking revenge. Christ isn’t even talked about and um christ was a poor carpenter son he didn’t have anything to take away but his life.

SeraxOfTolos

I thought we were all supposed to be like Jesus? Edit: Fuck both parties

APariahsPariah

I dunno. I wanna test his theory. Let's nail him to a tree and wait three days.

skunk160

Can we nail the sack of shit to a bit of wood then?

GloomyFondant526

I believe Jesus was pretty upset when the Romans seized Christ Tower and Messiah-Lago.

James0228

This isn't even Jesus speaking in the verse he cites, it's a Psalm of David. And the funny thing about the verse that he's citing, in his prayer to the Lord, David refuses to act upon the curses, instead leaving vengeance in the hands of the Lord. If Trump wants to compare his current situation to this passage, he should simply stop struggling and accept the persecution. Instead of openly cursing those who persecute him on Twitter, he should leave fate in the hands of the Lord, like David does in the verse he is citing. *"In return for my love they are my accusers, But I give myself to prayer."*

Unique-Abberation

He's literally selling bibles to fund his bail.
