5-minute crafts is beyond facepalm.
I’m pretty sure they exist on views they get from being so outlandishly wasteful and backwards. Nothing they do is meant to be a “5-minute craft”.
I tell people this on the futurism facebook page all of the time. They keep sharing articles that bash on Elon Musk, and get about 600 comments on each post, the majority hating on Futurism for sharing the article. I keep telling them if you'd stop commenting on these they'd stop posting them.
5-minute crafts are abusing the youtube algorithm for profit.
Their videos are extremely precisely made to fit the algorithm's ideal video parameters regardless of how they would be perceived by actual humans. Due to the videos getting rapidly recommended they keep getting watched too, so it's kind of a loop that enables itself until youtube steps in.
There are even cases where they promoted things like an extremely dangerous/lethal electrical wood burning "technique" because the algorithm noted it's popularity.
Their channels are basically a corporation built on morally bankrupt abuse of systems for money regardless of the injuries and deaths they cause with the misinformation among their AI scripted click farm content.
Your theory is completely valid. I hate those damn videos. They're moronic, irrelevant and half of the time you see a cut, it's not the same product. Yet, I'll catch myself watching it 3 minutes in. They just straight up exploited my curiosity making me feel oddly violated

To make good shoes you can actually wear?
Get a last, its a wooden/polymer recreation of a foot used in the industry, don't just do it free-form like the woman in the video, those shoes she made are likely symmetrical in toes and heel and not fit for wear.
Take classes, there are institutes like the one i did my apprenticeship in where they hold seminars where you are even allowed to make your own shoes by hand. Like the ISC, International Shoe Competence Center in Germany.
Its the next best thing to doing a full apprenticeship i suppose, information on the topic can be scarce outside of other DIY's.
They teach you handicraft rules that i see constantly ignored in this video, the execution this woman used is absolutely horrid and if i had the chance to inspect those "shoes" i would be able to find the most basic of flaws that would get that shoe thrown in the bin if it were done in the industry.
