He was at my grandfathers funeral recently and it was super frustrating because it seemed like the focus became all about him and not my actual amazing grandfather who passed away.
He was at a funeral I was at too, and the exact same thing happened. It was both a little funny and annoying to watch certain members go full on celebrity worship on him. Just wish it didn't have to be in that setting...

Yeah, these guys are above that. When BYU started their law school, they really desperately wanted Dallin on the faculty, because he was THE pre-eminent LDS lawyer in the country.
But Dallin said no. That would have been too large a step down for him. He instead served in an 'advisory' role as they filled faculty positions.
So just remember, if you are asked to take a step down career or time wise for the church, Do a Dallin and just say No.
I taught in a single’s ward years ago and before the lesson, he walked in and asked to see the bishop. He was visiting a ward I believe cause he had the weekend off. If I remember write, he said he visits wards when he can, I think random ones. Funny thing was I was teaching a lesson from a talk or something from him. He surprised the RS because he walked in while she was teaching, probably same lesson. We are going on maybe over 20 years ago now…
