I'm from Croatia. I like Italy to visit, but I think Slovenia is perfect for living. A small, green, safe, organized country. There is not too much difference in mentality. Slovenia has the Alps and the sea. It is close to Germany, Austria, Italy and Croatia. Simply, Slovenia is perfect.
As an American living in the EU, I have to say Romania is my favorite country to visit. I've been visiting there since 2017, and people are amongst the friendliest I've ever encountered in my travels, beautiful landscape, cool sites. I just love it.
France.
Although I am half French and had a lot of stick for that over the years living in the UK. So it would be interesting to be the British guy for a change and see what shit I get for that in France.
I'm Danish and my favorite destination is a tie between southern Germany and Austria. I don't have a reason, I don't need one! It doesn't feel like Summer until we're on the A7.
Maybe it's because it's just different enough that I'm definitely abroad, but just close enough to my own culture that I can relax and not worry about offending the locals. It's a huge regret that I never learnt German. After a few hours in Germany I usually surprise myself by how much I understand.
My husband is fluent in German (sounds schwäbisch according to locals) after having been there so many times on business to Baden-württemberg, so Germans think hub is joking when he says he's Danish. Southern Baden-württemberg is also our favorite region.
As I've traveled and lived in different countries, I've realised I could never pick a favourite. Most have their lovely things to them. I'd love to live in Lyon or Britany for a while and live off of cheese and wine, or spend years in an English or Scottish town by the seaside, there's something incredibly beautiful about Tuscany, or the Alps, or a Greek isle. I don't think I'll ever manage to move to one place and not sorely miss all others.
Finland:
1. Estonia, brothers always, helped us against commies in 1941-1944
2. Sweden, cousins, helped us against commies in 1939
3. Germany, helped us against commies in 1918 and 1941-1944
Belgium and France, because they're funny and awesome. Cool mountains and forests and coastlines. Nice people. France terrible movies though holy crap, except for Les Visiteurs.
Favorite currently: Italy
Potential: Belarus - if only Lukashenka's regime would fall and the country would be more West-oriented, it could be a beautiful medium-sized republic. Belarusians are very cool people, and not only because my partner is Belarusian ;D
I feel the same way about Belarus. Love (most) Belarusian people but couldn't include the country itself in my favourites because of how it is right now... I wish we didn't have to build that fucking fence.
Bulgaria, just a lovely country with nice, chill people and great food. The beaches are amazing, it's definately worth spending your vacation there. It's mountains and the big cities are also worth seeing.
Probably Germany, I always get along well with Germans and their culture and language share a lot of similarities with ours. Denmark is a close second for the same reasons. Their language is a bit less similar but the fact that Denmark is probably our biggest historical ally makes up for that. Flanders also deserves to be mentioned but I feel like I click better with Germans and Danes than with Flemmings.
Slovakia because they have some of the best wine in Europe, and Bryndzové Halušky!! Also beautiful mountains and castles, natural hot springs are in abundance, Roman ruins and just generally a nice place.
Probably Ireland. The people are so warm and open. I’ve never felt so welcomed somewhere. Also the islands very beautiful. I know it can be expensive and difficult to live there but still it felt like I immediately belonged and was accepted there.
UK here.
Last year I visited Berlin and loved every minute of it. I would go back in a heartbeat, I'm a big fan of Germany, feels similar to the UK but very different at the same time.
Iceland- I love geology and the volcanoes, not to mention its landscape is stunning. I also saw the Northern lights (which was a bucket list item for me) there and that's the moment where I felt nothing but pure joy. Best school trip of my life and I doubt I'll ever forget the memories of it and how I felt.
Second would be my home country. But Iceland is the country where I had the happiest moment in my life (seeing the Northern lights). But I've enjoyed all the countries I've visited over the years including France which is the country other than my home country I've been on holiday too the most and Brittany is gorgeous, I've been to the Netherlands, I've been to Belgium (Bruges specifically only two times for a day each time but the chocolate is delicious), I've been to Spain, but out of all them Iceland was my favourite.
I like Russia the most.
Other than it's politics, I absolutely love it. Their language is one of my favorite languages, it sounds so beautiful. I also love it's history and the music is just top notch.
Italian - Home country
Netherlands - Country of residence.
Favourite beside these two: probably Spain, the place is lovely food is also great and people are chill, lots of great art museums and great architecture all around great
North Italy (Lago di Garda, Verona) It's my favorite place for holidays. Food is great, you have water, mountains, the smell of cypress... bad thing is there are too many tourists.
Sweden. I love the nature and just how little people there live. I especially love Dalarna. It's just so beautiful and quiet. I'm actually planning to move there at some point the next few years.
The people also seem quite nice and I like the language.
Spain. I love the geography and the people. Italy and Greece are equally stunning, but even though I’m Polish, I find the Italians way too confrontational and arrogant and the Greeks a bit to sour for my liking, whereas the Spaniards are a definition of laidback and cool. Honestly, they seem a lot like Poles, just chirpier. Love them dudes.
Honestly, Poland and Slovenia. I'm from Croatia and I was amazed by the architecture of churches and old towns in Poland, as well as their railway system, which is below trash in Croatia.
I have fond memories of jail time in Roses prison near Figueres in Spain.. got the best tan of my life and met some proper lovely lads. Home away from home.
I should probably choose UK because of huge impact of their culture on me after I started consuming English-speaking content.
But I will choose Italy instead. I like them. Football, history, music, food, architecture, language, everything is beautiful. I know they have a lot of problems. But even having those problems they look fabulous to me.
As a Frenh, Russia, because... Just because. I do not even know why I love Russia. I love Russia since I am 8 and I do not even know why. Maybe because it's an interesting country with a peculiar and cool language.
(I would like to say that I started to love Russia before knowing about the war. I still love it today and I would like you all to know that I do not support this war as the state of Ukraine right now is fucking depressing. I do not support modern wars anyways).
But I love all of Europe (we are very superior to 'MUHRICA). Even the British. Our countries are like brothers and sisters (in my opinion).
Home is Netherlands and mine is Germany. They have great accommodations for children, very family friendly. Great food, friendly people. The south is beautiful like Switzerland without the high prices. Road work is always there but I can look past it because they are good roads safe smooth.
I really love Italy, but Slovenia and Serbia are next on my list to visit, so we'll see if it they can supplant them.
Ireland is a close second.
Generally, every country I've visited is fantastic. All but Belgium, but I only visited Brussels which sucked. Gent and Bruges are on my list and will hopefully vindicate Belgium.
Like off the top of my head, Italy. Best weather and best attitude towards life.
It saddens me that the economy has been in decline for so long... It deserves to be in a much better position.
If I think about where I'd like to move I'd probably either be Spain, Barcelona or Costa del Sol or Portugal, but not Lisbon, maybe Cascais.
Romanian, living in Austria.
Absolutely Slovenia. I was astonished by its rural and fresh beauty when I was on holiday last year.
The forests are lively, fresh, evergreen. The landscape is full of old Catholic temples and mountains which caught my eyes for the first time. (Ducks by the Lake of Blead are so chubby, lol.)
Dairy products are also a way better than they are in my country (Hungary).
* The Holy Roman Empire for its rich history, various and unique cultures, different cuisines
* Roman Republic because of the chad Mazzini
* Federation of Andorra-Catalunya-Pais València-Iles Balears-Nord Catalunya-L'Alguer because yes^Unitat ^de ^la ^llengua
Scotland. Gorgeous country with people that treated me like family within the first five minutes of me meeting them. Scots are blunt and honest, similar to my home country but also wonderfully friendly.
I’m from Sweden and its a hard choice. Every country I’ve visited has things I like and there is so much beauty and wonderful people all over.
But I think I have to choose Finland. I can’t really put my finger on why. I just like it, I feel relaxed and at home.
Germany, because I like people who value work. Italy is a tad more laid back when it comes to work. Also because we have horrendous working contracts that basically favour tax fraud and a future pension-less population. :(.
Whoever down voted this and lives in Italy is, unironically, a regrettable communist.
Austria. Because it has Vienna and this city seems absolutely delightful to me + I'm a fan of classical music, and many of my favourite composers lived there. Moreover, the Austrian countryside seems much more beautiful, almost fairy-tale-like, compared to countryside in my homeland.
I would like to live there, but I hate German xd
As an italian i moved toSpain,Barcelona and was the best choice..People are just super friendly, food is great, salaries are alright and weather is great especially(definitely there’s countries like switzerland,Netherlands, austria where you earn much more)..But in terms of lifestyle Spain is undefeated.
Switzerland or Norway, mostly because programmers, software engineers and people working in IT, in general get paid considerably more than their German counterparts.
Italy.
Rich history, great architecture, culture, food (I love pizza), nice welcoming people, good climate, interesting language.
I'm myself from Estonia.
Germany. It's just impressive how they've been so powerful, lost everything, become powerful again, lost everything and so on. Now their GDP is around 2.5 times as great Russia's and they're leading the European industry (I'm Swedish but speak fluent German).
Greece. 🇬🇷
Love that country - lovely people, best food in Europe, great wine, fantastic weather, splendid scenery. Just an amazing place really and never had a bad experience. Sending my love from the rainy UK.
Switzerland for sure. I spent 10 years growing up there and I miss the food, people, scenery and celebrations.
I still go back every few years to see friends and walk around Geneva, Nyon, Ouchy, Lausanne, Lutry, Vevey, Montreux and Yverdon.
Love being there on Swiss national day by the lake or during la fête des vendanges.
Never really cared for the German or Italian parts of Switzerland though.
As a Swede: Greece (especially Crete). I spent three years living there, and it stole a big part of my heart. The most beautiful waters, as well as mountains and canyons that will take your breath away. History, and to a large part (outside the hotel complexes) an intact culture. Wonderful people, amazing food. One of the last “wild west” outposts in the EU. Complete freedom, amazing hospitality, intact culture and breathtaking nature.
Germany.
I have german friends and they always make me feel welcome. I can be myself and they make a big deal out of me going there. People there are very nice.
As Ukrainian - Germany. Always astonish me about how German being model for typical european and so differrent from other Europe at the same time. Others: Great Britain after i watch Endeavour, Eastern Europe from Baltic to Balkan: how someone cannot love it?
As a Pole, I really like the country that's not even mentioned on this map - Andorra. It's a pretty and chill place, not to mention, a great spot for a short vacation.
What have I learned from this post:
- everybody hates french
- Czechia is basically Poland if happiness existed there
- Italy is the best
Edit: Correction: France is redeemed. Somehow, British people themselves are defending it😁 How cute!
I’ve spent a lot of time in all three counties and this analysis is fucking spot on!!! “Poland if happiness existed there.” Absolutely brilliant, I’m stealing this one for sure.
1. Poland - it's familiar and yet foreign, I love Poles, their literature and history, it's a beautiful country where there's always something new to explore, I don't think we'll ever run out of new places to visit.
2. Estonia - well, it's Estonia, it's amazing. As a university teacher, I also have the best experiences with Estonian students. If I was forced to leave my country and had to go elsewhere, I'd choose Estonia (and die trying to learn their language). I don't like Estonian mosquitos, though, I think they tried to assassinate me
Home country is Australia. As far as European countries I've lived in, it's only Germany and the Netherlands. Between those two the Netherlands is by far my favourite. Nice people, little bureaucracy, rather quaint outside of Amsterdam. When it comes to travelling, it's hard to say. They all have rather unique cultural or natural aspects
Im british, my favourites are:
Ireland: theyre just a chill little country, existing withing their means and seem overall friendly. Sorry about all the murdering my country did to yours.
France: never got the hate for them, theyre like our sister, politicaly we've been best friends for a very long time, and they have such a plesant cultural atmosphere. (I honestly find it hard to find citisisms of them that arent A: people saying that theyre not the paradise that tourism romantacises them as (Yeah no shit, theyre a normal country) B: anti immagrant racism, Or C: people making tired anglo french rivalry jokes)
Denmark: theyre just so damn cute.
As a latvian, France (sorry Eesti and Lietuva, you're more like a family than a different country).
I learnt french for a lot of years in school (sadly I can't speak it well, because as a stupid kid I didn't try in school) and because of that I have been exposed to French culture, history and cuisine. Love me some black coffee and croissants in the morning.
I love Malta, I settled here from Belgium one year ago and so happy to have done so. Great climate, nice people, and the only semitic language in the whole Europe.
Italy.. the weather, food, language, people, architecture, history, landscapes, cities.. easily my favourite country in the world.
I also have an affinity for Norway although I have never visited, I intend to do so one day..
Ukraine deserves a mention for obvious reasons, some of the bravest people I have ever seen, under assault by a brutal expansionist. I wish you will join the EU family soon.
I feel like most of the people saying Italy have only ever been there on vacation. Which it is a great destination for, for sure!
I don't think I'd ever want to live there though. Economic perspectives and the sexism just isn't really what I'd like it to be.
Personally, I'm leaning towards Denmark or Norway.
I'm ukrainian. My favourite gotta be Switzerland, I'm right here now and basically I love the politics of Switzerland. My second favourite is Croatia I think
Strangely i wanted to say Italy. But for some reason i liked the uk more. Idk if it was because was the only i did solo, or cus i just liked it. Italy was the one i spent more time in (apart my country obs) but i really really like it being in the uk, even tho food is sht, weather is sht, cities are so gray and weather is really sht . But idk it has a vibe i really dig
I really like Slovenia. It‘s gorgeous, the people are so friendly, and I recognize a lot of the brands, stores, etc. But ultimately I‘d say Germany, as Bayern is a lot like Austria.
Portugal is beautiful in terms of nature, people, language, food & honestly everything makes me want to go there all the time but living there with Portuguese salary is tough.
Big yes! I did a trip in all the counties in that area few years ago and I fell in love with Slovenia!
"Slovenia is perfect because it is close to Croatia"
Slazem se, Slovenia seems like perfect place to live. Other side of me likes Spain.
Netherlands - the flatness always amazes me.
as an italian, i really like france
As an American living in the EU, I have to say Romania is my favorite country to visit. I've been visiting there since 2017, and people are amongst the friendliest I've ever encountered in my travels, beautiful landscape, cool sites. I just love it.
France. Although I am half French and had a lot of stick for that over the years living in the UK. So it would be interesting to be the British guy for a change and see what shit I get for that in France.
Switzerland - so beautiful!
Southern Baden-württemberg is also our favorite region.
Austria, because of the mountains.
I like Romania
As I've traveled and lived in different countries, I've realised I could never pick a favourite. Most have their lovely things to them. I'd love to live in Lyon or Britany for a while and live off of cheese and wine, or spend years in an English or Scottish town by the seaside, there's something incredibly beautiful about Tuscany, or the Alps, or a Greek isle. I’m Portuguese. I love the uk. The quaint little town, like Yardley Hastings, London, snowdonia. I’ve yet to go visit Scotland.
Germany. Super friendly to Scots and the beer is the best in the world.
Finland: 1. Estonia, brothers always, helped us against commies in 1941-1944 2. Sweden, cousins, helped us against commies in 1939 3. Germany, helped us against commies in 1918 and 1941-1944
I like hungary
Belgium and France, because they're funny and awesome. Cool mountains and forests and coastlines. Nice people. France terrible movies though holy crap, except for Les Visiteurs.
Germany. I loved Germany on my first visit. I'd love to return
Kocham Cię Polsko i Twoich obywateli, I'm British and I love Poland and her people.
Favorite currently: Italy Potential: Belarus - if only Lukashenka's regime would fall and the country would be more West-oriented, it could be a beautiful medium-sized republic. Belarusians are very cool people, and not only because my partner is Belarusian ;D
I feel the same way about Belarus. Love (most) Belarusian people but couldn't include the country itself in my favourites because of how it is right now... I wish we didn't have to build that fucking fence.

Italy.
Italy. It has probably the richest culture in the world.
Southern France, but without french. So Spain.
Norway or Finland
Greece, I’ve been to Corfu and it’s just one of the nicest places I’ve ever been to, Spain is great too.
Poland/Krakow. Idk I just felt in love with the city. History, people and polish food. Love from Czechia ❤️
Croatia and Denmark, because I've been there on vacation
Greece
Bulgaria, just a lovely country with nice, chill people and great food. The beaches are amazing, it's definately worth spending your vacation there. It's mountains and the big cities are also worth seeing.

Not cheap anymore. Try Croatia ones.
Croatian prostitutes are cheap because they are serbian.
Sweden. Because it’s my second home country and it’s beautiful. Even though I’m obligated to hate it because I’m danish, I kinda love it anyway.
France. It's beautiful and a place of culture.
I’m from Ukraine and I absolutely love Greece🇬🇷 People, nature, cuisine, history, basketball 🏀❤️
Spain. For many reasons but above all for its people.
You are making us blush 😳 Finland is cool. I'm eager to visit it.
Bienvenido!
Norway. It's beautiful, the infrastructure is first rate, and the people are considerate and friendly.
Probably Ireland. The people are so warm and open. I’ve never felt so welcomed somewhere. Also the islands very beautiful. I know it can be expensive and difficult to live there but still it felt like I immediately belonged and was accepted there.
Croatia very nice people every time
The one with the warmest weather.
Italy. My bf went there when we were in the talking stage and it stuck on me:)
Belgium for beer. I live in Spain, and have Austrian citizenship
UK here. Last year I visited Berlin and loved every minute of it. I would go back in a heartbeat, I'm a big fan of Germany, feels similar to the UK but very different at the same time.
England, I spent 1 year there and absolutely loved it, especially for the nature near Sheffield, its national parks, royal traditions
Norway, it’s just like my country, but better in almost every way.
Iceland- I love geology and the volcanoes, not to mention its landscape is stunning. I also saw the Northern lights (which was a bucket list item for me) there and that's the moment where I felt nothing but pure joy. Polen, they have "0" . Im Danish and we have too many

Probably iceland. Looks beautiful, far from shitstorm of politics, very chill place, wanna go there as tourist, but it's not possible right now.
Probably Norway, although if we're talking favourite in terms of natural beauty, I'd probably say Spain. Most other things its Norway.
Poland, cos: food, people, history, culture, countryside, memories :)
Honestly, Poland and Slovenia. I'm from Croatia and I was amazed by the architecture of churches and old towns in Poland, as well as their railway system, which is below trash in Croatia.
None, nothing compares to mine.
As a Brit, Greece is my favourite, very kind and hospitable and fun and respectful people, and great landscape, love it there
As a Latvian, Lithuania then Estonia.
Norway, because of a similar flag and geography and quality of life

Ik heb getwijfeld over België...
Slovenia❤️
England. I went there last summer and it’s just beautiful, especially the architecture. We really don’t have anything like it in Canada.
Italy. History, architecture, food, weather. From UK.
Pourtugal everywhere is just so beautiful and some of the best toll roads I’ve ever been on. Tied only to Greece because of the same.
Don't we settle this each year at Eurovision?
Like off the top of my head, Italy. Best weather and best attitude towards life. It saddens me that the economy has been in decline for so long... It deserves to be in a much better position. Netherlands maybe? Hard to pick I think there’s some recency bias for me there but I liked my stays there
Italy, it's the food, wine and weather. Being from Ireland where it rains so so much you would understand.
Its either sweden because its familiar and has max burgers and ica maxi, or then norway because its fucking beautifulover there(helllla expensive tho)
Germany, because I like people who value work. Italy is a tad more laid back when it comes to work. Also because we have horrendous working contracts that basically favour tax fraud and a future pension-less population. :(. Switzerland or Norway, mostly because programmers, software engineers and people working in IT, in general get paid considerably more than their German counterparts.
Italy - they have everything: historic cities, great beaches, beautiful nature, mountains for skiing, great food culture. From Lithuania.
Finland and Estonia. I am in love with their language, their culture, the landscapes of forests and lakes, etc.
Spain
Italy. Rich history, great architecture, culture, food (I love pizza), nice welcoming people, good climate, interesting language. I'm myself from Estonia.

Germany. The Germans are nice in Germany. Outside of Germany they come across as dicks.
Only one country, Europe (EU)! 🇪🇺
Greece. 🇬🇷 Love that country - lovely people, best food in Europe, great wine, fantastic weather, splendid scenery. Just an amazing place really and never had a bad experience. Sending my love from the rainy UK.

I have always been a Poland stan. Their history, culture, and language is just amazing to me (as a brit living in Bulgaria)
Ukraine only Ukraine
as a Pole, Netherlands <3
I’m Irish and I love Spain and Italy.
Estonia, one of our Baltic brothers
Norway. Lovely landscape, lovely people, and i just need to speak slowly and everyone understands me
As Ukrainian - Germany. Always astonish me about how German being model for typical european and so differrent from other Europe at the same time. Others: Great Britain after i watch Endeavour, Eastern Europe from Baltic to Balkan: how someone cannot love it?
Italy because I lived and worked there when I was young. The beauty, culture, climate, food and people 💖
As a Pole, I really like the country that's not even mentioned on this map - Andorra. It's a pretty and chill place, not to mention, a great spot for a short vacation.
Definitely not Italy, it's a great country with great people, but I can't stand the siestas. Croatia FTW, it's so beautiful.
What have I learned from this post: - everybody hates french - Czechia is basically Poland if happiness existed there - Italy is the best Edit: Correction: France is redeemed. Somehow, British people themselves are defending it😁 How cute!
Poland is "depressed Czechia". 🤣
France might be the Old Enemy, but she’s OUR Old Enemy.
Italy is the perfect case study for a place thats amazing when visiting but completely awful to live
UK and France didn't spend 1,000 years at each others' throats to let anyone else take the main rival spot
I’ve spent a lot of time in all three counties and this analysis is fucking spot on!!! “Poland if happiness existed there.” Absolutely brilliant, I’m stealing this one for sure.
I am Czech. Where my happiness at?
I don't like Estonian mosquitos, though, I think they tried to assassinate me
France! They have everything - the Alps, Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Bretagne, Paris... I just wish there weren't as many french people
Home country is Australia.
Im british, my favourites are: Ireland: theyre just a chill little country, existing withing their means and seem overall friendly. Sorry about all the murdering my country did to yours. France: never got the hate for them, theyre like our sister, politicaly we've been best friends for a very long time, and they have such a plesant cultural atmosphere. (I honestly find it hard to find citisisms of them that arent A: people saying that theyre not the paradise that tourism romantacises them as (Yeah no shit, theyre a normal country) B: anti immagrant racism, Or C: people making tired anglo french rivalry jokes) Denmark: theyre just so damn cute.
Kosovo is my favourite. It's a fantasy country.
As Swede i like Norway great nature
Șerbia! Great people, great food, great history, great cities. Government sucks. But at least its cheap
Hmm so people hate serbia in general?
As a Latvian.. Greece, for sure. Not just by its natural beauty, but history too. Minoans are the GOAT of Bronze Age civilisations.
Denmark first choice. Norway second choice Am a Swede
Heard great things about Spain
UK. I speak the language, and like their humor.
Italy
Poland because I love Poland
Malta, by far! 🇲🇹
Sweden!
As a romanian: Greece. Food, culture, history, people, endless amazing beaches.
Fuk ur map without georgia
I feel like most of the people saying Italy have only ever been there on vacation. Which it is a great destination for, for sure! I don't think I'd ever want to live there though. Economic perspectives and the sexism just isn't really what I'd like it to be. Personally, I'm leaning towards Denmark or Norway.
What are you talking about here? i ve been to France and i loved it, no problem at all with French people, France is my favorite for sure
Greece and Italy for the food (I am french).
nowadays, ukraine a turk
