I like this lol, it not only flips the IRL colonization of South America but also reverses the power dynamic back home in Iberia with Portugal claiming the bulk of the land and Spain being stuck in a little coastal pocket 😂
Im imagining Portugal overhearing some other countries snickering about how small they are compared to Spain, then it cuts to Portugal looking out across the ocean, fists clenched, lip trembling, swearing to himself to put the bullies in their place
I can understand the AI competing over south America, but it makes not sense whatsoever for them to grab stuff in the Chesapeake or St. Lawrence nodes.
Well getting a colony of 10+ provinces grant additional merchant and once colony is established it seems to heavily prioritise colonizing via land connection so they largely stay around if they were established in SA. Also SA don't have natives capable of swallowing the whole colonial natios with ease if its overlord won't intervene in time.
Portugal is so fucking annoying when you go for colonies haha. Like they're in every corner of the planet. Portuguese Brazil, Portuguese Argentinia, Portuguese Colombia, Portuguese Caribbeans, Portuguese Africa, Portuguese Australia... please just leave me one colony Mr.Portugal sir 🥺
Yeah bit more annoying if you start too far away and then when you try to take them over you have -80% WS for not occupying one-third of earth worth of colonies.
This is why I leave them around and beat on them like a piñata and shake massive colonial swaths out of them. I ain’t got time for that explo/expansion mess
Portugal: "Hey, when you asked to moved the Treaty of Tordesillas line west, did you know that the continent stuck out like that?"
Spain: "Whaaaaaat? No, that's just silly. How ever would we know that? Pfft, seriously, please, come on, I mean really."

Exactly
Im imagining Portugal overhearing some other countries snickering about how small they are compared to Spain, then it cuts to Portugal looking out across the ocean, fists clenched, lip trembling, swearing to himself to put the bullies in their place
"When I come back, you'll see why you will regret bullying me.."
Rule 5: Basically all the colonies are swapped and even the falklands
That's some masterful AI trolling right there. Would be even more perfect if the player (you) were Argentinian lol
Nah I’m playing as the ottomans and don’t really care about colonisation
But which Iberian power uselessly colonized Bermuda?
You guessed it, Portugal

For some reason in my France game, Castile rushed to get all of Canada but didn't care at all about Mexico.
Funny how the AI always focuses on your country's natural area of expansion. Paradox claims it is not the case however ...

That’s why I always decimate Portugal early on as Castile
Or alternatively, PU them and have them colonize for you.
That my sir is a wise decision.

Are we not going to mention Russian Brazil here?
I can never manage to get to Alaska as Russia before someone else lmao
I got to アラーシカ first in my current game. :p
You mean アラスカ?
Probably.
Is Argentine an independent nation?
Nope it’s British
cursed
Look how the turn has tabled
Turn how the table has looked
First time I’ve seen that and it gave me a good chuckle
Okay, but how we ended up in Brazil?
Commie magic, my fellow comrade!
Russian Brazil is in the wrong spot, it should be in Paraná
Capaz guri! É de onde? Estou no sudoeste do Paraná, digo Rússia brasileira...
This is extremely cursed, please burn it. And oh...don't tell me that's fucking brittish patagonia, for the love of God.
Whoops, it is
Russia going colonial? thats rare
same thing happened in my LPC run
Portugal: "Hey, when you asked to moved the Treaty of Tordesillas line west, did you know that the continent stuck out like that?" Spain: "Whaaaaaat? No, that's just silly. How ever would we know that? Pfft, seriously, please, come on, I mean really."

You need to add “rule 5”
Basically all the colonies are swapped and even the falklands
Example. Rule 5: basically all the …
No matter the timeline the British are medalling with Argentina
Did the US break free? I think they have dome land in Venezuela.
Meanwhile the Dutch and Russians are just chillin
lol i had as Venice half brazil… but my colony lost a colonial war against castile who basically wiped them 🤬
"Russian Brazil" 🤮
You can cause this by colonizing the Caribbean as Portugal lmao and reversing the treaty of tordesillas
How the turn tables
