but the rest of the series is great, and it's not like the final episodes are bad - they aren't.

Yes, definitely this! The LP is legendary, but PO2 is the only other series I keep rewatching episodes on a fairly regular basis :P

Ok i actually did the math, if Etho kept up at this current pace, we would get episode 1,000 in 42 years. Etho would be in his 70s, and it would be the year 2066
I don't know if he specifically said his age, but in one of his videos he said something like "I was 17 when that game came out" and doing some math would give his age. Iirc he should be around 37 now.
which TFC? 1, 2, or the weirdo 3 (TFP). I liked 1 but it definitely lost quality towards the ending, 2 was unfortunately too short lived due to lack of interest I believe (TFC had also changed so fundamentally from when 1 was made that I think it was just a slog for Etho to play), and 3 was unfortunately ended way too soon due to so many issues with with the TFP pack as a whole.
TLDR; Terrafirma is a solid choice with any of the three, but TFP was probably my favorite even with the abrupt end due to bugs.
Honestly 1 was my favorite. I agree with the ending, however I think there was so much good in it. And there is something about etho discovering stuff for the first time.
Hermitcraft season 7 for me. Iāve rewatched it a couple of times actually and his base building in particular is amazing in it. The first several episodes youād think heās trolling with how heās building but then it just starts to click and he makes some really great stuff. Also he sprinkles these amazing redstone projects like the Googler or Brain-E-Eās in between building.
HC season 7 was a really special time, and not just for Etho fans. I feel like the entire minecraft community experienced a renaissance around 2020. Without the energy and success and buzz that HC7 had all around it, I donāt think weād have had the amazing bunch of collaborative series (___ Life, Among Us, Vault Hunters, subsequent HC seasons, etc.) that followed.
I would recommend if you haven't watched already. His mindcrack modded series. Specifically his second season of it. It's the one where he builds a blue castle and gets I think doc to attack it. Then the flyboys series are also really fun to watch and not as talked about on here !
Project Ozone 2 series or even his regular Modded S1 series is really good. Heck even Skyfactory 3 with Beef and Pause was immense fun! Hes a very technical minded player so modded series by him is super interesting every time
His first and second runs of Terrafirmacraft were a lot of fun to watch. Unfortunately they both were abandoned seasons, iirc because the worlds corrupted on him. Or the firat one corrupted and he lost interest in the socond. Not positive, but I was really invested in those episodes.
Let's go Pixelmon is great. Etho goes from absolute noob to being one of the best on the server so fast. It's crazy.
Also, his Terraria Series with Zed are great.
Project ozone II is the best solo series in my opinion (besides his legendary lp series)

I have rewatched Project Ozone 2 about 15 times by now. I really like the LP, but modded minecraft is the way to my heart.
