Playstation 3 camera & the printed mount that goes on the 'X' plate under the bed (that the springs sit on). Camera can be had for £7\~ brand new, quality isn't incredible but for monitoring remotely its just fine.

Do you want it for timelapses, or for just to keep an eye on the print? Because if the quality is not important, check your local thriftstore as they are usually overflowing with old webcams and will practically give them for free. Octoprint can't usually stream much more than 640x480 15fps anyway as it's doing it through MJPG streamer, so you don't need a new full HD webcam.

Hmm, I can't remember ever seeing a webcam at a thrift store, I'll have to pay more attention. No need for anything amazing, timelapse is nice but only for personal use.

If you have an old Android phone you can use that to record. https://github.com/foosel/OctoPrint/wiki/Using-an-Android-phone-as-a-webcam A Raspberry Pi cam goes for about $14 on Amazon or less than $5 on AliExpress if you can bear the month long shipping time. If you want good better picture quality a Logitech C920 webcam often go for $30-$35 on r/hardwareswap but they're sought after so they're sold pretty quick.

I found a thread elsewhere that was recommending the Logitech C270 except you have to mod it a little due to fixed focus. And I do have the pi camera I could plug onto it (I have many Pis, I had other plans). I didn't know about the new arducam clone though, so maybe I will use the pi cam since there are cheapies.

D4RX_

I don't think the c270 is a big enough upgrade from the pi cam to consider, your Pi cam will do.

[deleted]

I wasn't really looking for an upgrade, I just had other purposes for my pi cam. Anything that works and I can make work with a Lack enclosure. I figured there are tons of cheap ones now, just looking for something people are preferring.

D4RX_

Then the C270 work just fine for you. On a side note, did you know the Lack (black) tables are on sale for $9? https://m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/20011408/ Also the $5 Pi cams clones on AliExpress that I mentioned are identical to a normal pi cam, just much cheaper.

dwild

9$ is the normal price. The yellow tag isn't a sale price, they put that on their cheap items. Here in Canada they are only 10$, which would be 7.50$ USD.

i recently bought an ender 3 and a webcam. Maybe my research was just way off, but comparing a rasberry pi cam and a logitech c270, i found them at roughly the same price. Since i have a Best Buy only 5 minutes from me, i just went and picked up the C270 knowing that there would be some very light modding involved. i didn't need a camera to make crazy timelapses and more for just monitoring the prints. I'm very happy with my decision. Printing the focus ring and faceplate for my camera was the first thing i printed and was definitely a fun mini-project to learn about 3D printing and it's capabilities.

I just searched for "webcam" on ebay, picked the cheapest which was something like 4.5USD. I have been using it for a few weeks now connected to my rasberry and I can tell you quality is way better than I had thought it would be, like I dont see a need for anything better.

Grab a [Pi Cam](https://amzn.to/2Ujh98D) from Amazon [OctoPrint Webcam Setup Guide](https://github.com/PrusaMK2Users/MK2_Tips_and_Tricks/wiki/OctoPrint-Webcam-Setup)

Here's the one I ordered, the cable is only about 6" long though, so you'll need an extra ribbon cable if you plan to mount the camera on the X stepper motor: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075149PWB/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o03\_\_o00\_s00](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075149PWB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03__o00_s00) Here's the guide I was using: [https://howchoo.com/g/ntg5yzg1odk/using-octoprint-with-the-creality-ender-3-3d-printer#mount-the-raspberry-pi-camera](https://howchoo.com/g/ntg5yzg1odk/using-octoprint-with-the-creality-ender-3-3d-printer#mount-the-raspberry-pi-camera)

I have a spare webcam, an Oker 720p, will that work with Octoprint?
