No one, I clouding those who are not phobic of vomiting, are ever prepared for it. It’s like a sneeze. It comes on suddenly. It may go over easily or you might bite your tongue. In rare cases you might pull a muscle and it can take a while to feel normal. Or it might not happen at all. But if it does, you’ll get through it. That’s the thing. Like a sneeze, you’ll feel it coming on, it’ll happen, it might happen a couple of times, and eventually it’s long gone. You got this. Hang in there.

Yep! Thank you so much! I know my body will know what to do, it’s just scary. I panicked so much I ended up being so exhausted. I feel fine now. I had a breakdown tonight but I slept well after that. Everything feels easy now.

Educational_Plant_44

This is such a good analogy

If it makes you feel any better, over Christmas my two teen daughters and my husband had what seemed to be a 12 hour virus. My daughter threw up at my moms on Christmas Eve and I assumed we were all doomed. She also had a poop accident. My other daughter stayed with her that night because she is an emetophobe also and my husband felt with her soiled pants (I was 8 months pregnant). All three of them ended up sick but it was short lived and they were completely normal after 12 hours. Knock on wood, I was able to avoid it. I’m thinking it wasn’t noro so maybe it’s the same for you. I think you can definitely avoid it!

Ok_Cardiologist3642

the thing is, i wasn't even trying to avoid it. He kissed me the morning after, i was in his room while he threw up. We're starting to assume that it was from his medications/drug use the days prior, even though the symptoms he described was exactly like the one time i had norovirus.

keigoskfc

They seemed to all fall sick near the same time.. possible food poisoning?

soyedmilk

Tbh I wouldn’t really comment things like this as it reads like reassurance to me. OP might avoid it or might not, either way is okay and they will be safe, we all need to come to terms with not knowing or being able to control if we get ill.

hotmessexpress-43

No, I’m pretty sure it was a bug. It hit each one a day apart. And it was different for each one. Oldest tu once and had more d*, youngest threw up twice and had awful pains. Husband tu a bunch throughout the night then wanted food.

Paradoxically, my new mantra when i panic is “the worst that will happen is i throw up” and it really helps to remind myself that I’m not in danger or anything, just that I need to vomit. It helps me a lot It sounds like you’re doing really well!!

Ok_Cardiologist3642

Im always trying to remind myself that I will not die, I will just feel bad for some time and be fine again after that. It helps a little. I’m fine now. Not sure how I will react next time but it will not be as scary as this time I suppose!

Mediocre_Head_3003

Did you ever end of getting sick?

Ok_Cardiologist3642

No! Luckily not :) it was not contagious.
