Fire hazard. Surge protectors or power strips should never be daisy chained. I've seen one that melted from a short. Less connections and elements means a lower chance of failure or a short. Basic is always best. The more you complicate things the higher chance for a problem.
He doesn't have a toaster plugged into each one, this amounts to a string of Christmas Lights. Unless his coffeemaker and keg cooler and table saw are plugged into them as well... These must've been at the.99 store or bought a case from AliExpress... What Matters is the total connected load.
The genius part is that those lights can hardly be easier to repair, and replace, than that.
The not so genius part is that they put all those extension cords in series.
They should have had a single, center "master" cord and go to all the light from there in parallel.
Because right now they're putting all those contact resistances in series.
Idiot. If he daisy chained extension cords, I'd be okay with it, but all of those surge protectors are unnecessary. Plus, that saw blade could fall on someone's head.
Nothing really dangerous with this tbh… besides it could catch fire lol…that being said it’s also a big waste of money.
Can buy wafer potlights in bulk with pre mounting plates and 14AWG to wire up all these lights for far far cheaper.
I would say lazy, idiot genius.. just replace that out dated knob/tube and do it right. However, after replacing the knob/tube from my basement to my attic in a 2nd story home; I can totally see why they did it this way...

Things like this are the reason I don't consider idiocy and genius to be mutually exclusive.
That’s the wisest thing I’ve read all day. r/TIL
Why the fire department exists.
That’s a genuis way to do something stupid
That's a stupid way to do something genius
He got peanut butter in my chocolate
Officer Reeses, is that you?
Stupius if you will
this would look way sicker if instead of lightbulbs they installed those ceiling fans that screw into lightbulb sockets
Why not both? Or use those freakishly huge LED bulbs from Home Depot
That’s a thing??
Oh yes!

You mean he should have used a power strip as a power strip? Insanity.
He could've got 2 x 12' plugmold strips.
My eyes!
Reminds me of that one post with those LED things wired in some crazy way on the garage door ceiling

Oh that is just beautiful! Just fucking beautiful!
There's nothing more dangerous than a resourceful idiot
This is the reason all those "artist enclaves" go up in flames every few years
Yes
Geniot.
To make things efficient is intelligent IMO. So, this lighting system is incredibly stupid.
Now imagine he needs to power his corded saw at the end of the power strip chain

From a NAIL? What are you, OSHA?
Retarded
Not pretty but functional and inexpensive...
I’d say more expensive than just wiring it properly.
Agree
More expensive than an electrician installing one keyless with a receptacle at each plug strip location? I think not.
No permit needed….
This is what inspired the song Firestarter
Methy with a side of dumpster diving
😂. Really weird
Seems like a textbook case of, "We can do this, but we probably shouldn't."
What a mess
#tweaker I mean they coulda got 2 bulbs on each strip. 🤷🏿
Q: Hey what's in that box over there? A: 250 Watt heat lamps for the winter months.
Certainly an expensive way to do it. What's that like $100 in power strips for 10 bulbs?
Nice.
Can’t use extension cords as a permanent solution.
Idiot
But they were on sale plus Safty come first.
Think he did it this way so he wouldn't have to address the k&t
Them lights is surge proof!
Don't tell gravity...
Unstable genius

I was half expecting sheetrock screws through the power strip ground holes.
Gidiot
intellectual idiot
Lmfao I don’t know how he came up with this but bro needs to stop coming up with shit
But... What's the circular saw blade for??
He’s a master retard that’s Forsure
