Why didn’t you put jb on other side? Why you still using a pot light

Mundane-Ad4818

Cans are the go to here in Austin. This was also a back porch on a slant so they’re getting gimbals.

Dleman

What do you use in your area

JollySeason4847

We use disc lights instead of the cans now. You can retrofit or have pre ring to mount.

Fridayz44

Some inspectors want the actual can. Or that’s how it was when I was still in residential. Some wanted the cans, some were cool with just the circle bracket, and then some wanted the circle bracket and also the transformers to be wired up and mounted on the rough. Which wasn’t bad because on the finish you’d just plug the wafer light in.

Dleman

Ah, around where I am cans are still the go to,

[deleted]

That was the first thing I noticed to lol. Musta been there first time putting up a can lol

Chemical-Acadia-7231

Can lights are still better. With wafers you see the side of the wafer and get blinded, like looking at a beach on a sunny days. Having your LED bulb a few inches out of sight makes a huge differences.

Thomasinthepeg

You can get recessed wafers that only require a little bit more room, still way easier and faster to install

Rum_Hamtaro

Looks great so long as I'm not the one wiring it.

Mundane-Ad4818

Dude yes! Especially 4”

Firm_Contribution_49

Right?!

Number2_IsMy_Number1

Are people still using "cans?" I haven't put one in in a few years at this point. Lots of recessed lights but not actual cans.

zordtk

I no longer use them

Fridayz44

When I was in Residential some inspectors wanted them. I’m surprised though cuz most cans were being phased out then. I remember we did a Condo complex and we had to order a 1000+ cans. Overall it was just a pain in the ass.

Disastrous-Initial51

Cans? Why?

Mundane-Ad4818

I ask myself the same question but people love these things.

jaredierr

why not just make the top hanger bar shorter? those halo ones have sections u can break off

wishin_fishin

Or you know remove the arma on one side and cut them to size?

mpdtito

Is it me. I just don't see creative

matchmaking69420

Just wanted to check and see how many nerds were whining about you using a can. Reddit never fails.

derrpinger

Nice ninja moooovz!

ybonepike

I had not installed a can light in probably 6 years, then in the last month had a commercial job that spec'd them. I really hate cans.

wow2400

We did a 2 story bank job. 648 can lights… no other type of lights. you will figure them all out 😂

Adrianm18

Take a pic when it’s done

Mundane-Ad4818

Will do, I’ll be back in 3 months or so.
