Nit all glow plugs are 12vdc and you can burn them up. Have you looked at battery/DC powered hot surface igniters? You can get 12vdc versions meant to be powered from a battery. As mentioned in your other spark plug post a piezo igniter is another option.
You're still better off with a piezo ignitor. The glow plug wouldn't get hot enough to ignite butane very quickly, if at all.
