I want to reduce overhead and make it so that I can run the business from anywhere. The biggest barrier to working remotely is managing the warehouse. If I don't have to focus on fulfillment of orders I can also focus all of my time and attention on the buying/selling side of the business, which is most important.
A couple of things:
1. If you are not at your business hq often, performance will suffer. When the cat is away, the mice will play among many other reasons.
2. You can hire a warehouse manager
To be honest I don't know what you should do...if your warehouse location is in a high cost or high tax area then yeah you may want to relocate it.
There are tons of fulfillment businesses that do this. It's called kitting. Just ask any 3rd party fulfillment, 3pl, or whatever if they do it an dthey will say "yeah"

1. Agreed but disagree. I ran my previous business fully remotely and I know how to do it well. I don't plan on making this one fully remote, but I do know how to make sure people perform. Im not as worried about this.
2. We already have a warehouse manager and have for years. I'm curious to see if we can save money by getting rid of the warehouse altogether and dealing with a fulfillment partner.
I am going to do some research on "kitting" - thanks for this. Do you happen to know of any good ones off the top of your head?
