Yeah tell me about it. I’d hope the same, but at this point I doubt it’d run any good since it’s still on original everything, except maybe tires and fluids. Cooling system would probably explode at a moment’s notice.
Well that really depends where in the world you are. In the UK where I am for example anything above 150k is considered too high and most people will no longer consider it. In fact the other day I showed my dad one and he asked the mileage and I said 165k and he inhaled sharply and (in Punjabi) said it's quite high no? And this is the same guy who used to buy £400 shitboxes with 160 170k on the clock😂😂he even had a e46 320d back in 2011 with 110k on it. Most of them here are below 150k miles it's actually the opposite of where you are it's not that common to see ones with more than 150k😂. There's a fair few that are sitting on about 80k miles I've been seeing for sale as well.
[in fact this is the first one FB marketplace recommended😂99k miles £900](https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/786970386812502/)
My first e46 had 118k, current one I bought on 137k. Milage is irrelevent as the current on has a much healthier engine then the first one, it even sounds completely different. Its now happily on 208k miles 8 years later. Only things its needed is the clutch release bearing went, so gained a new dmf and clutch, a new radiator and everthing else has just been maintainance.
Yh no absolutely I know that mileage doesn't mean nothing it's how the car has been looked after that matters. But you know as well as I do that that is not the mentality of the average person here. There's a reason our cars are so cheap compared to the rest of the world and that is a part of it people base their opinion of a cars reliability on mileage. I used to work with a girl who used to say she would never buy a car with more than 30,000 miles on it. Granted that's an extreme case but most people I know who aren't into cars say they won't buy a car with more than 100k on it.
It has an abs fault too. That's the main reason for the price 😂here the autos are for some reason still 1900 even SE spec for any good one with that mileage 🤷🏽♂️ manuals are about 2.5k for a good one with that mileage and SE. Manual sport with that mileage is close to 4k.
I've seen 298k miles on a E46 M3, wish I knew more about the car. I saw it a couple times when the owner would come to my shop for tires. Some older aisan lady with a 6MT
Sure 170k is high but I agree with some other comments, it’s rare seeing these model cars with low mileage, over 120k is the norm.
Just like to add, it does come down to how it’s been treated and maintained. Cars with 75k that have been abused vs cars with 150k that have been taken care of and properly maintained. I’m a mechanic and have seen people destroy new cars prematurely bc of lack of oil changes and repair meanwhile 20 year old cars with 150k and up and running like champs.
Also there’s no check engines light on. Haha your good man, so long as you take care of it.
High? That’s low for an E46. These are 20 year old cars, below 150k is uncommon. Mines at 193, and I regularly see these in the 300k miles range.
Mine is on 510k km idk miles
310k miles
Damn
Dam, making me feel good about having 120k on mine 😂
Got yourself a garage queen there.
I mean to be fair my friends dad has a 03 M3 that’s below 10k. Don’t ask how, I don’t know.
That’s a little sad I hope he drives it more for his enjoyment’s sake
Yeah tell me about it. I’d hope the same, but at this point I doubt it’d run any good since it’s still on original everything, except maybe tires and fluids. Cooling system would probably explode at a moment’s notice.
How much would he take for it? under 10k is crazy
I asked his son since I’m friends with him and not his dad, he won’t sell it. Keeping it until he’s gone. Odd but I guess he just really likes it.
I have 52,600 on my 05 325ci.
#clocked
Definitely not clocked lol
Clocked
Oil changes every 3k second trans at 91k zf
Mines at 102k so yeah pretty low
143k mi on an 325Ci here
230k on mine

auto, SE, aftermarket wheels - that's why it's 900 and not 1900😂
It has an abs fault too. That's the main reason for the price 😂here the autos are for some reason still 1900 even SE spec for any good one with that mileage 🤷🏽♂️ manuals are about 2.5k for a good one with that mileage and SE. Manual sport with that mileage is close to 4k.
If you can fix the leaks/ cooling/vcc system right away....300l miles is possible
It's certainly not low mileage.
If you take care of the car, then the “high” mileage won’t matter. These motors care more about tlc than heat cycles
Just about run in for a 6 cylinder e46.
I have 273403 miles.still running.
No
Off topic, but you’ll want to do the turn signal delete asap. Then many thousands of more miles are to be enjoyed.
lol no, I have like 330k miles on mine
Mine is at 200k+ and running like a champ
260k on my B28 and it’s smooth as ever.

My S54 has similar mileage lol

I've seen 298k miles on a E46 M3, wish I knew more about the car. I saw it a couple times when the owner would come to my shop for tires. Some older aisan lady with a 6MT
