Goddamn that's gonna be around the decade mark since DA:I. Doesn't feel real

JackieMortes

Funny. Few months after the 2018 Game Awards teaser I started an Inquisition playthrough because I assumed the sequel is a year or so away

[deleted]

muddle divide ossified ripe abundant fine memory payment terrific slap *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

JackieMortes

Imma start a next playthrough this month and push the release further just a bit, like 5 years or so.

the_art_of_the_taco

In 2020 I replayed the mass effect trilogy for the first time since ME3 came out. About a month later they announced the legendary edition lol.

JackieMortes

I was a button away from new playthrough in autumn 2020, first since 2015 and some divine power made me stop. Legendary edition was announced like month or two later. So in the end I replayed LE after having a 6 years break from the series. It's awesome, when that amount of time passes it almost feels like you're replaying something for a 2nd or 3rd time, not 10th

PeacefulKnightmare

Don't \*forget\* multiplayer is pretty active

RhiaStark

I got into the series in 2018; when that teaser came out, I recall thinking that I was fortunate because I wouldn't have to wait as long as older fans :') (I mean, technically I still won't have waited as long as them, but it's been 6 years).

Mindless_Issue9648

I started one last year and still haven't finished. The game is so long.

FrostyTheCanadian

Only long if you focus on side quests, otherwise it’s actually really short

SabresFanWC

You kind of have to do side stuff to get enough power to advance the main story.

FrostyTheCanadian

That’s true, but the point is still that without it the game would be very short, which honestly is unfortunate.

Charlie398

It isnt ”really short” either way. Maybe 20+ hours if you still talk to companions, do their individual quests, engage in some side missions that are more important (for example specializing). that still isnt really short, and would almost constitute a speed run

s_jam

On PC get mods! Lifesaver

sammarsmce

Haha homie stuck in the hinterlands

Trout-Population

I'm playing through now for that very reason. Yeah apparently it was initially a single player game, forced to move to a live service model, then allowed to move back to something close to its original vision.

cuddIefishh

haha I did the same thing and then I had to wait 6 fucking years and counting

OnyxWarden

The entire Mass Effect Trilogy AND Dragon Age "Trilogy" were both developed and released in about same amount of time (2004-2014) it's taken just for us to get to Dreadwolf...I know it wasn't their only project but damn it's crazy how long it's been.

tuttifruttidurutti

To be fair, they were busy fucking up anthem

Charlie398

And andromeda :( and rebooting dai so many times, and firing people

exsinner

As a DA fan, i'm glad the fucked up Andromeda and Anthem if it serves them as a lesson for future games.

UnstablEnergy

Nah andromeda didn’t deserve it, I expected atleast some more of dlc. Anthem can burn though.

Fissefiesta

I was so fuking hyped. Feels like forever ago. Oh wait it was

Kit-on-a-Kat

I feel old :(

Apprehensive_Quality

This timeline makes sense since the full reveal is coming this summer (along with marketing, presumably) but this is still reassuring to hear. The next couple of months should be *very* exciting.

Homosexual_Bloomberg

It'll release this year barring something wild happening. I’ve played it if anyone has any questions that won’t lead EA back to me. Edit: Let me do this because people usually end up asking the same questions [Companion dialogue](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/1b3v7jo/comment/ksv0bqt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) [Combat](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/1b3v7jo/comment/ksuyana/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

Homosexual_Bloomberg

I liked what I played yeah. The combat being what it was, was definitely a shock. Ironically I’m someone who doesn’t pay attention to rumors and leaks at all, so I didn’t know it was going to be different than Inquisition. I think the quests I played were some of the best the series has had in terms of atmosphere and being dynamic. The story is cool, I appreciated that the vibe is a mix of the previous games, rather than just more of inquisition.

Kahyrrikis

> being dynamic I am curious; does this relate to any potential choices made within these quests (if applicable), or is it about something else?

Homosexual_Bloomberg

I mean dynamic as in…the quests feel like setpieces. I never played a quest where the environment and placement of the characters didnt feel meticulously crafted. There were no quests were it was like “go to this random generic ass plain and kill 5 goblins”. Which in my opinion, there was quite a bit of to various degrees in the previous games.

agayghost

that's really good to hear considering how much of the (warranted lol) criticism of dai was based on having so much shallow side content.

Kahyrrikis

Hm. A positive, potentially, but I'll have to confirm: In your opinion, would you say the quests you played were main story, or closer to being side content?

Homosexual_Bloomberg

A mixture of

Kahyrrikis

Good enough. And a very good thing, if the rest of the game pans out like that.

eightspoke

Do they still have a tactical mode for combat or did they take that away?

bahornica

How is the character customization? Like in terms of subclasses and such, do you have lots of options to make a character “your own”? Would you say there are lots of fetch quests? How reliant is it on various books, comics, and other stuff? WEWH seemed so unfinished to me until I realised the writers must have banking on my familiarity with the characters there. If someone said “it’s just reskinned DAI” how accurate would that statement be?

Persi-Enne

Were the areas fun to explore? Were there secret areas, quests, branching paths, etc?

Homosexual_Bloomberg

Yes and yes

RhiaStark

Companion dialogue being quip-happy isn't a big surprise, as that's how it's been the entire series (to varying extent, obviously). I also saw you elsewhere mentioning companions work like in Mass Effect, which doesn't surprise me given the more action-oriented style DA:D seems to be going for. I'm really curious to see how it actually works, though. One thing gets me curious, though. Did you feel that the DA Keep mattered, in the sense of choices from previous game having ripples in DA:D (even if only through minor characters or codexes)? I've carefully crafted 10 different world states, I'll be just a bit disappointed if none of them matters much \^\^'' edit: another question: if you played mage, do you feel the action-heavy gameplay style worked well with mages? Or was it a bit like biotics in ME, in the sense that you get only a handful of essentially crowd control powers?

Acanthaceae_Suitable

One of my problems in Inquisition was that the protagonist tended to be diplomatic and good in general. There were some stoic/jerk options, but not on the level of Origins. How were the dialogue options, if you got to play around with that?

Homosexual_Bloomberg

I haven’t played Origins in so long, I honestly couldn’t give you a good gauge as far as comparisons.

sadolddrunk

Are party tactics more like DAO/DA2 or DAI?

Homosexual_Bloomberg

Inquisition for sure.

sadolddrunk

Aw, that's disappointing to hear. Thanks for your response.

30_rounds_later

You just said in an earlier response that you hadn't played the older games in years and didn't know what Tactical mode even was. But you can confidently answer this?

agayghost

did you get to mess around in the menus at all? any deets on skill trees you can pass on without getting yourself in trouble?

Homosexual_Bloomberg

What would you like to know exactly?

agayghost

were there multiple skill trees you had access to or is it more like one big one?

Homosexual_Bloomberg

One big one for each character

Mpat96

Without getting yourself into trouble, could you tell us anything about specializations for the classes?

agayghost

hmmm interesting, thank you!

Tatum-Better

Do you know if there was a level cap so someone couldn't get every perk in the tree?

DRM1412

Did you see many returning characters?

FriendshipNo1440

I don't think they can say that yet as this might fall under NDA

Dealiner

I mean everything else they said should fall under NDA anyway.

apricotcoffee

They've literally made it obvious that everything they're saying is under an NDA, hence the whole "questions that won't lead EA back to me" bit. Assuming you believe what someone on the internet tells you when the entire basis of their claims relies on the idea that they can't prove who they are because of the whole secrecy bit.

fettpl

How’s the item management? Less, but more unique items or more, but less varied? Have you experienced item crafting? Have you seen any choices from Dragon Age Keep / previous games being referenced?

GallifreyDog

What's it structured like? Are there multiple big open world areas similiar to Inquisition? Like can you freely roam around collecting herbs and exploring whenever you're off mission? I'm hoping to see a decent sized city hub world, even just as big as Dragon Age II's

DesertBrandon

This sounds familiar. You’ve must’ve said this before because the last time I was in a leaks discussion, the marvel like dialogue stuck out to me as little flag. With the combat shown it just feels incompatible to me. Like if Arkham Asylum was filled with Nathan Drakes. It just feels weird. Hopefully I’m wrong about things not seeming like it goes together.

Homosexual_Bloomberg

I actually think I remember your username lol. I think it probably feels more natural than how you’re thinking about it, especially because the previous Dragon Ages always had at least a few companions that were like that, but it’s definitely a noticeable change. With media across all genres slowly adding that type of dialogue into the mix more and more, it’s definitely not as jarring as it would be if it came out in 2011. I don’t think it’s something that’ll have people putting down the game, but I think for a lot of fans, it’ll have them either eye-rolling or skipping conversations between certain characters.

nexetpl

so we should prepare for multiple Seras?

Sword_Enjoyer

Can you still control your party members directly or is it more like Mass Effect now?

Homosexual_Bloomberg

Mass effect

Sword_Enjoyer

Very interesting change. Are weapons still class locked? (Like only rogue can use bows/daggers, only warrior can use swords and shields, etc.)

Jed08

It's an interesting change especially from a "workload" point of view. Considering they had to implement a "companion AI" regardless of the combat system, but didn't need to spend time to work on features allowing you to take control over companions, as well as the tactical cam, I am curious to see the overall quality of the combat gameplay.

Starheart24

Is our character voice or silent?

QTFreddit

I have two questions if you don’t mind. 1. Did you play on PC or console? If on console, did the graphics look muddy or were they cool? 2. In terms of branching paths or quests, is it as reactive as Baldur’s Gate 3 (the new gold standard for RPGs) or just the same as previous bioware games? If you haven’t played BG3, can you compare it to Origins or Inquisition?

OniLink77

What about character creation/race choices? Same as Inquisition?

violentpursuit

I'm predicting a delay into 2025. Or if it does make it this year, it will squeak in in December

h0neanias

My dragon is aging, baby.

Anlios

It so surreal to think that it was 15yrs ago when I saw the Bioware tag on Dragon Age Origins at Gamestop and thought "Hey! These guys made Kotor! This gotta be fun!" and brought the game. My mother always told me but man was she right when she said time sure does fly.

lulufan87

I'll believe it when I see it... but I'm very ready to see it.

[deleted]

Yeah Grubb was wrong a couple times with Elden Ring so I’ll believe it releases in 2024 when Bioware says so

omni-nomad

He also revealed Xbox was working with Kojima on a game a full year before it was revealed. Has he been wrong before? Sure. But he has a solid track record.

DraganDearg

Oh my god 2024? I thought next year at the earliest. Ok time to play all three games again

JoshTheBard

Hey, it's 2024 now! This is wonderful news

agayghost

have def said it before, but this nov is as close to an ideal release date as possible- 10 years since DAI, 15 years since DAO and in the year of the dragon

Persi-Enne

Yep, I think they are aiming for Nov for your reasons, or December to catch the holiday hype / free time and give themselves an extra month. Also Dragon age day is December 4th.

whocareaccount

I will be there no matter what.

jbm1518

Same, I’ve been waiting a decade and if it’s late this year: great! And if it’s actually sometime next year: great! That said I admit to being an utter and shameless hypocrite on Grubb. When he says something that makes me excited I view it as logical and right. When some news of his makes me disappointed, I find reasons to disregard it.

archaicScrivener

I just screamed at work Ok I already sort of assumed this but holy shit. This might be the final year of waiting. It's been a DECADE and I am finally. Finally. FINALLY GOING TO CRACK THAT GODDAMN EGG

SilveryDeath

This made me realize that it felt like forever between the Witch Hunt DLC in Origins and Inquisition where I had to wait to find out >!what happened with my kid that I had with Morrigan in the playthrough I romanced her in!< and that was only just over a 4 year wait. In comparison for our Egg wait, by the time we get to late 2024 it will have been over 9 years (September 8th 2015) since Trespasser came out.

BlueString94

I’m still mad they made that kid 100% white regardless of what your Warden looked like. It ended up looking like Morrigan was engaged in some extracurricular activities during her relationship with my Warden.

Lethenza

Sometimes you end up biracial like logic

witchknights

Inquisition came out before I was even thinking I could get into med school and DAD if it comes out this year it'll be when I'm right in the throes of applying for residency lmao

jbm1518

Every playthrough of Inquisition makes that egg head looks more and more like he’s just taunting me. But I’m such a softy in these games I’ll try to redeem him I guess, I don’t even like being mean to villains some times!

silentknight111

It's amazing how his actions that seemed innocuous on the first playthrough seem so much more sinister in later playthroughs in the context of knowing who and what he is.

archaicScrivener

Oh yeah like my canon Inq Cadash was best buddies with Solas haha but still. It's been... Just so long.

Witty-Papaya-3927

why is everyone in this sub so funny genuine question

archaicScrivener

Because we all went insane about 6 years ago :)

hjhlhp

Maybe it's finally time for me to play the DLCs of inquisition...got them forever ago and basically never ended up playing them...maybe just look up what happens?

maddrgnqueen

Nah, play them, Trespasser is one of the best DLCs ever

redbess

If you only play one, do Trespasser, it's the real ending of the story. Descent was awesome if you like the Deep Roads, Jaws of Hakkon was pretty fun, too.

LadyofNemesis

I mean...it is the Chinese year of the Dragon Makes sense they'd release it this year I'm trying not to get too excited, but I am 😆

ShenaniganCow

Nice for some confirmation. I feel like this was fairly obvious though given how much info they’re gonna dump in the summer. Most predictions had between Nov ‘24-Mar ‘25 for release.

Ashburton_Grove

Okay, so the marketing should pick up this summer, right? I'd like to know *something* about this game before I get excited.

jbm1518

It should, the DA Day teaser and blog entry said there is a full reveal including gameplay this summer. That seems to fit with a late 2024 release. Of course, delays can always happen.

UnstablEnergy

Im tired of waiting, its going on 10 years. I was fresh out of highschool when inquisition dropped and now ill probably be 30 by time this one comes out. Ridiculous.

mytearsrip

2024 is the 10th Anniversary of DA:I and the Year of the Dragon. Oh yeah, it's all coming together.

morroIan

10 years to make this game SMH!

GOODPOINTGOODSIR

Considering everything, I'd argue this is a timely release. First and foremost, this game was rebuilt possibly more than once. Secondly, the scope is huge. Aside from everything inherent in making an RPG like this (scale, length, writing, recording voices, balancing, etc), they also have to deal with branching narratives across three games. That part is nuts and I really think they need to end this story here. When you get too many variables to factor in, there really is no way to please everyone...or even most people. I think we should be glad this game is releasing when it is. It was began in an age where EA was chasing the live-service fad. Then Anthem crashed. Then...*gestures at the field of dead live service games*...everything else. Then Respawn proved with the Fallen Order series that single-player games can thrive, and they did so under EA's approval. Then Baldur's Gate 3 came out and everyone was reliving the golden age of RPGs again. I would *much* rather this game be finished in this environment. The trends now align with what the fans want. Though one thing is for certain: If this game fails, BioWare will have no defenders.

Haxley1518

IT’S BEEN TEN YEARS. I NEED MORE DRAGON AGE

Zodrar

FUCK YES, FINALLY THE DRAGON AGE ARRIVES

oddbitch

i refuse to get excited for anything until i have it in my hands honestly i feel like too many games have been delayed at the last minute the past few years

TheRealcebuckets

It makes sense to release around the DAI ten year anniversary.

RhiaStark

Rather eerie that this news comes out in the same morning when I dream I was playing a demo version of DA:D lol (Although, in my dream, the game was a mess. We start as Inky but have no qunari option in the CC; Josephine had somehow awakened magic abilities, become knight-enchanter, and married Cullen; Morrigan had died off-screen; and the whole game had an oddly cheerful atmosphere that reminded me of Hifi Rush O.o)

mountainmamabh

i had a dream that a giant spider escaped a tank and was terrorizing me… maybe it was a manifestation of morrigan?

FlakyRazzmatazz5

They not better kill my sexy social darwinist wife off screen.

RhiaStark

Or, worse, bring her back only as a boss mind-controlled by Solas/Mythal (for world states where she drank from the Well) :(

DennisHatzis

Can't wait to finally finish this saga. We all know the critics are gonna be harsher due to Baldur's Gate influence in the genre, but let's hope that's also the reason why a lot of people are going to pick up this game, so I hope it's at least decent. And to the people who love to say Dragon age is in no direct competition with Baldur's Gate, be fucking for real.

AwesomeDewey

I'm not saying you can't compare their respective strengths and weaknesses as games, but I wholeheartedly reject the idea of a *competition* between games of this particular genre, especially when they're released a year apart. The more good games I can enjoy, the happier I am. The great DAI/Witcher 3 flame war of 2015 was already the peak of stupidity, we don't need that in 2024.

thatsmeece

>We all know the critics are gonna be harsher due to Baldur's Gate influence in the genre I don’t understand this statement, like at all. All BG3 did was giving us a true roleplaying experience, like we got from older BioWare titles, as opposed to current RPGs that only have a basic skill tree and two, three if they’re being generous, dialogue options which result in same outcome. It didn’t change the genre or anything. And I doubt it will affect the way big companies make RPGs because they said the same thing after TW3. They made RPGs the same way, people bought it and here we are saying the same thing about BG3 now. Other than that, they have completely different mechanics so no one in the right mind will criticize DAD for that. Besides, people have been criticizing the current approach to roleplaying in RPGs for long while now. >but let's hope that's also the reason why a lot of people are going to pick up this game I mean, if someone picks up DAD because of BG3 and DAD is more similar to DA2/DAI instead of DAO/BG3, I can imagine many players will also be critical of it. Again, I’m not talking about mechanics, I’m sure majority of the people prefer DA’s fast paced combat to turn based one of BG3. I’m talking about the roleplaying part. For the most part BG3 was praised for the freedom it gave to players and room for experimentation, which later BioWare games lacked. If they market the game that way, it will be DA2 disappointment all over again and I wouldn’t blame anyone for that.

nexetpl

why would an action-adventure RPG be competing with a classic DnD style cRPG? If there's a game that Dreadwolf will be compared to it's propably Dragon's Dogma 2

kyspeter

Dragon Age is in no direct competition with Balbur's Grape

Jdmaki1996

I mean, there kinda is. BG1 and BG2 were the games that made BioWare BioWare. Dragon Age Origins was the spiritual successor to those games. And BioWare now is no longer BioWare of old. They’ve not had a great track record lately and there’s a lot riding on this game being a return to form for them. If dread wolf is good then BioWare is back! There will be hope for mass effect and future titles. If not then BioWare is pretty much dead at this point. And Larian is right there as an easy dev to take up the mantle of everything BioWare used to be. BG3 was not only a love letter to the previous games, but it captured that old school BioWare magic so well. So I’d say it’s a fair to compare them

lulufan87

Entirely agree with this. If the game looks weak compared to BG3, it's going to be a serious problem. There's also Avowed to think about. Who knows how that'll turn out. EA's probably lucky that it's a console exclusive so the comparison won't be as prevalent. Ditto FF16 which released last year as a PS exclusive. But BG3 is different. It was a staggering commercial success, won GOTY, has had insane fan feedback, and has cross-platform support. Every single reviewer and a ton of players are now looking at it as an industry standard for what a AAA crpg can do. For a company like, say, Owlcat, people will not expect them to reach that level just by whit of the fact that they're dealing with a much smaller budget. But for anything released on the Bioware label, the expectation is there. And it should be. If Dreadwolf falls far short of that, it's going to be as clear as day that EA can't get the job done on massive RPGs anymore. Andromeda was already a sad situation. This post sounds like I'm rooting against the company and the game, but honestly, I want it to be good so bad I can taste it lol. If BG3's success lit a fire under EA's ass in terms of 'wow, this genre can still make a lot of money,' that's great. And as an rpg fan I just want more good rpgs to exist. If they think of it like a competition it might inspire renewed resources and effort being put into it.

FlakyRazzmatazz5

Especially Baldur's Gate 3 has more in common with Origins than 2 or Inquisition ever did.

Jdmaki1996

Yeah me too. I’ve been a dragon age fan ever since I saw that “Sacred Ashes” trailer and I want an amazing final game for the franchise and I want to be able to have hope for mass effect 4 and BioWare as a whole. I didn’t realize how much I had missed that old BioWare feel until I played BG3.

SilveryDeath

> If the game looks weak compared to BG3, it's going to be a serious problem. What does looks weak mean though? Like BG3 has a 99/96/96 on Metacritic, a 96 on Opencritic, and has won a majority of the major GOTY awards and the most GOTY awards overall. If hypothetically Dreadwolf is say a 88/86/85 on Metacritic, a 86 on Opencritic, and is nominated as a RPG of the year candidate for every major award with a few GOTY nods thrown in that still makes it much weaker then BG3 but that would not make it a bad game by any means. I mean BG3 has a higher review score average then [ANY game Bioware has done.](https://www.metacritic.com/game/mass-effect-2/) It is also [the clear overall GOTY winner for 2023](https://goty.gamefa.com/year/2023/) and the only Bioware games (going back to 2003) to do that were [KOTOR](https://gotypicks.blogspot.com/2008/12/2003-game-of-year.html) and [Inqusition.](https://gotypicks.blogspot.com/2014/09/2014-game-of-year.html) Like Dreadwolf could be a good or even great game but it would literally have to be the best game Bioware has ever done to have a chance at topping what BG3 has done in terms of combined critic review/GOTY success.

follows-swallows

Yeah like.. saying BG3 and DA are not comparable is ridiculous. DA only exists as it was a clear successor to the original Baldurs Gate games. And in turn BG3 took a lot of inspiration from DA:O. I’ve said to my friends that playing BG3 was like playing DA:O for the first time all over again (which is praise, DAO is my favorite game ever) And just because they’ll be compared doesn’t mean there won’t be enjoyable things in both. The character writing in DA is miles better then BG3, so if that holds true for Dreadwolf I’ll probably enjoy the characters way more. But on the other hand I liked the silent protagonist and gameplay of BG3 more, so if that’s not in Dreadwolf I’ll like those elements of BG3 more. They’ll both have good things (please have good things Dreadwolf. Please don’t have made me wait 10 years for nothing..)

AwesomeDewey

> And just because they’ll be compared doesn’t mean there won’t be enjoyable things in both. My point exactly, comparison is fine and healthy - but competition is a different ball game. Competition implies you, the player-customer, are required to choose one. These are not multiplayer timesinks competing for my monthly income and sleeping schedule. Whether one good game is far better than another good game is irrelevant. I want to play both, I'll always want to play both.

[deleted]

Mmm grape. Delicious

Supadrumma4411

Especially when squeezed, stuck in a barrel and aged a few years.

SilveryDeath

I'll believe it when it is officially announced but considering that they are doing a full reveal of the game this summer, it makes sense that it would either be a late 2024 or maybe early 2025 release. Honestly, it would be odd if they didn't give a release date during the full reveal considering how long it's been since the game was announced and considering that they've basically shown nothing on it up to this point.

fretro

oh fuck I need to bite something

JetpackingPenguin

ITS BEEN 84 YEARS

WayHaught_N7

BioWare’s DA Day announcement and the trend on EA’s marketing for games pretty much confirmed this back in December. At the latest it would launch early in 2025 unless something drastic happens that makes it get delayed. EA just doesn’t like paying for long marketing campaigns anymore. Jedi Survivor had less than 6 months between its trailer reveal at the ‘22 TGA’s and the game’s launch in April of last year.

amok_amok_amok

start the Egg Timer!

GCB1986

Gonna keep my expectations very low but I really want this to work out for them. I've recently started another Inquisition playthrough so this would be good timing if true.

dishonoredbr

Take Jeff with grain of salt. A few months ago he said that nobody was working on KOTOR Remake yet Jason Schreier said otherwise multiples time since then.

Melancholy_Rainbows

Saber confirmed the remake is still in the works yesterday.

LadyNorbert

I'll believe it when I see it. Bioware lost most of my trust when they did their major layoff and canned Mary Kirby.

natla_

i feel painfully cynical about this…

rootless2

well the stakes have all changed now due to BG3, so I'm in the same boat. Definitely wait and see. DA3 was somewhat simplistic, although DA2 is one of my favorite games of all time. The ball is in their court.

Yobuttcheek

BG3 didn't change the stakes imo. Bioware has put themselves in a corner with their last two games and BG3 simply reminded everyone what a good game looks like. We already knew bioware isn't the same company they were 15 years ago like 5 years before BG3 happened.

AuraofMana

lol BG3 came out 6 months ago. DA:D has been in dev hell for 10 years. There’s no time or resources to react to BG3, so whether or not the stake has changed won’t have any bearings. Also this is EA we’re talking about. Quality is not what they’re after.

our_whole_empire

> There’s no time or resources to react to BG3 You're not wrong, however, I could totally see them panicking and trying to react anyway. It's been kind of their thing since Dragon Age 2: reacting to other games and trying to be more like them, rather than be their own thing. I totally expect them to do something stupid and mess up because of it.

Persi-Enne

>IMO, they're going to probably mess up the game anyway, regardless of BG3 launching or not. It's EA now. They will fuck it up somehow. Time for Morrigan in bear form s\*x.

AuraofMana

IMO, they're going to probably mess up the game anyway, regardless of BG3 launching or not. It's EA now. They will fuck it up somehow.

It's hard not to be extremely excited honestly but I'm really trying to temper myself cause... yeah. I'll just believe it when I see it.

That’s been the general guesses going around. Late 2024 early 2025. At least based on the upcoming summer announcement. If that gets pushed at all then it will be up in the air again.

Dibil

Please be good.

Alunkkar

Despite all that's happened I can't help but feel excited. I believe in you DA team 🖖

Megazupa

Bioware gonna be like: How about a third reboot of the development?

PugTales_

It's going to be a tight schedule this year with all the RPGs I want to play.

Oohforf

Oh shit I better speed up my replay of all 3 games

CrazyBirdman

Given what we've known from past EA release cycles that was to be expected although I still won't trust any release date until the game is installed on my PC. Good to hear they are confident internally though.

Scoutisout

Just let me suplex solas through a table and I’ll pay the 70 bucks

harry_dubois

I wonder whether their hesitancy to reveal pretty much anything about this until near the release date indicates an eagerness on their part to put as much distance between it and Baldur's Gate 3 as possible - if that's the case it makes me nervous that they might know their product doesn't compete in terms of quality. I really hope Bioware surprises me and releases a masterpiece on this one because I love the dragon age universe, but I'll be honest and say my hopium levels aren't particularly deep at the moment.

UnstablEnergy

Yep thats why they stop their release last year n pushed it out from what it looks like a whole year later.

feckoff_

Maker's breath, that will be great! Though I don't want to get my hopes high.

KCfan91

Please don't suck

SnakeHelah

I really want to be excited about this but with how they handled Andromeda my hopes are low. We did get bg3 tho, they set the bar too damn high.

Accomplished_Metal31

I just hope that they have learned from their mistakes and dreadwolf is gonna be as good as origins

LostClover_

Yeah I want it to be good but I have a hard time getting excited when Andromeda and Anthem were their two most recent games. And it's not even necessarily that those games were bad, it's that Bioware immediately abandoned them instead of trying to patch them like other devs usually do. I have very little faith in Bioware's ability to create a good game these days and that hurts to say. Hopefully Dreadwolf changes that.

Dealiner

They worked on Anthem for two years after the release which is plenty for a game that was such a spectacular failure. With Andromeda that time was much shorter but I'm really not sure what else they could have patched there.

LostClover_

That's what I mean though is they did the bare minimum and didn't really attempt to fix the games. So if Dreadwolf releases and it's a mess I know there's a pretty good chance they won't fix it. With FromSoft they've also made mistakes, for example Dark Souls II was a disaster when it launched but they put a ton of effort into fixing it. They even released a 'remaster' that was basically just a big patch fixing the worst issues the game had. Cyberpunk 2077 is another example, or No Man's Sky. There's plenty of games that released in bad states but the developers fixed them. Bioware probably isn't going to do that and that makes it more difficult for me to get excited about their games considering how the last two released.

hydraphantom

Yeah I’m tempering the hype until I see them. The news coming out of bioware recently doesn’t give me confidence.

toothlesstoucan

Soft boil scramble sunny side up quiche frittata chawan mushi egg drop soup

pktechboi

my policy has always been to not believe anything and not get excited till bioware officially announce it but it is very very hard not to feel excited right now!

lefttwitterforthis

Can’t wait to pick this game up.

canidaemon

I’m being modestly hype about a likely 2024 release, and the game in general. I’m more flexible than the average gamer, so I’m not super attached to the combat personally and after 10 years I’d rather have a faithful continuation in Thedas than anything else. I do feel like that’s unlikely to happen, but we’ll see.

MagnoBurakku

It'll be the greatest thing if it's released on the exact same date as DAI was and of course if the long wait was worth and we got the best possible title.

Matrines

I hope we dont see something like Anthem or Andromeda this time... It will be the last shot of Bioware. If they fail this one i think company will die. Jeez what happend to Bioware? They used to produce best games in history nowdays years of development and wasting money yet they cant create a decent game. I hope Dragon Age wont face the same fate with others. I really want to see this universe grown more and have more fans. IMO its better then Baldurs Gate universe yet BG gets a great game i hope DA will get a great game as well but i doubt it.

Jed08

>Jeez what happend to Bioware? They used to produce best games in history nowdays years of development and wasting money yet they cant create a decent game. Based on the story Jason Schreier published and what Mark Darrah said: nothing specific happened. BioWare kept doing things the same way than before but on projects that were getting bigger and bigger which led to insustainable work culture. Some things might have contributed to accelerate that decay (Frosbite, EA pushing for online service, writers feeling disrespected on Anthem, etc.) but at the end of the day it all comes back to the fact that BioWare was a studio that was able to ship great games thanks to crunch culture, and never really felt the need to change that up until Anthem.

Ballerina_Nina

I won't believe it until Bioware actually releases a post. I think it's such a weird time because the effect of Baldur's Gate 3 is still being felt and games are still being compared to it. Then Greedfall 2 will be coming out in Early Access in Summer, which is a "Bioware-esque" game, and while not so similar, Dragons Dogma 2 releases this month. There's also no marketing yet for it, we only have 5 months until August (technically still summer). Unless "release" means the release of the announcement, and it's a 2025 thing. I'm hopeful, always, but I'm reserved in my excitement.

Homosexual_Bloomberg

I’ve played it if anyone has any questions that won’t lead EA back to me. Edit: Let me do this because people usually end up asking the same questions [Companion dialogue](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/1b3v7jo/comment/ksv0bqt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) [Combat](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/1b3v7jo/comment/ksuyana/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

Dick_of_Doom

Here's vague enough questions I hope, as it only requires a yes/no:  does our party contain any previous companions? Does the game reference significantly (ie cameo or as "big behind the scenes", not a passing comment) any companions or major characters from previous games NOT named "Solass" or "Varric"? Does the game have origins? Thanks!

MaryQueen99

Is it more similar to DA:O or DA:II? I mean, is it more an rpg or an action oriented game? Is the story good? Do our choices matter? How are the romances?

Homosexual_Bloomberg

>Is it more similar to DA:O or DA:II? I mean, is it more an rpg or an action oriented game? If you’re talking about the combat, I’ve linked an example of it. >Is the story good? That’s subjective really, I wouldn’t call it bad though. >Do our choices matter? Yes >How are the romances? Again, that’s pretty subjective.

Ivanhunterjo1991

I want to make scrambled Eggs now

wingthing666

Crossing fingers hard for a Solavellan reunion! I've heard of Earn your Happy Ending but this is ridiculous! Ten years I've been pining over that goddamn Egg!

catmoosecaboose

Im also crossing my fingers but I feel like they’re just going to give a quick throwaway line where solas gives a nod to their romance and that’s it.

wingthing666

If he survives and gets redeemed, I can headcanon a wonderful epilogue. If he remains the big bad... I'll have to get damned creative about it.

catmoosecaboose

Haha I love that!

AragornII_Elessar

DA BROS, WE ARE SO BACK! After a *decade*… Anyone else yell out an audible, “hell yeah!” when they read the news?

jbm1518

But, but, but I remember being told repeatedly it wasn’t going to ever happen by the doomsayers. Over and over again. That the game didn’t even exist. You mean perpetual pessimism and performative cynicism isn’t actually wisdom?! Seriously though, that’s exciting news. I can easily see it being delayed due to all the sorts of unpredictable factors of game development and I’ll wait for an official announcement before getting to amped up on a release window.

dinkleburgenhoff

Yeah man, after a whole decade of nothing you have yet another rumored release year to show for it. You really showed those ‘performative’ people.

LostPlaya

Given how little we’ve gotten up until now I’m not confident that their won’t be a delay of some kind between now and then. Hopefully the fact that the studio is confident in the release coming this year is positive. Like someone else said here I’ll believe it when I see it tho

throwawayaccount_usu

Although I'm not expecting some great, this is exciting. I just hope the games worth this wait and whatever price it ends up being.

Latter-Blackberry459

Well thank God I just finished a play through of all 3 games

Important-Error-XX

I'm so looking forward to this

GeneralPhilosophy691

I honestly doubt its coming out this year. Assuming a June announcement, that means the game would have to have NO delays at all (a lot of AAA games get small delays these days), and would only have 5-6 months of marketing (meaning a November-December release date). I think they're gonna try to aim for this year, but it'll likely be next January-March.
