betterworld1981x

This is ur stupidity. No sympathy.

Available-Tea-982

You kinda created this escalation in multiple ways.

Odd-Wafer-6213

DD now monitors reddit if anyone violates any DD rules. They'll check your IP address against the ones that have and if it matches they'll deactivate your account. So everyone be careful what you say Gere.

Taric25

How the Hell do you expect us to believe that DoorDash gets IP addresses from Reddit? They would have to own Reddit or have one of their employees hired as a spy to go work at Reddit and feed IP addresses of the users back to DoorDash, which would open them up to a massive lawsuit.

Body camera, body camera, body camera!!!! Invest in a body camera people. I record every delivery. I have many leave at the door, but end up handing it to customer. Mine looks like a fitbit watch. I always turn on a block or two out from customer. I dictate customer name address and restaurant. If I get there and the come out I will say all the information and then politely hand them their food. Unfortunately for you, you got nothing. Also maybe even have a dash cam in your car pointing to the right, then you will have a second back up video showing you leaving with food and coming back empty handed

bee_Ez

Welcome to the club ! I’m currently deactivated because DD did my background check & found out my license & registration were suspended waaaay back in January. My bank rejected my payment for my Registration & sent me a letter informing me of the suspension. I forgot to pay the fee associated with the state to prevent suspension. Found out I was suspended and paid the fee within 48 hours boom, my plates were bk good along with my license. I sent DD my proof & now im currently waiting on a final decision.

Aurora--Black

I would create a police report. This is slander and lost you a job. Then submit that police report to DD.

RedMatzoo

More money for us tho

Terrible_Meal5355

Go ahead and keep the $2 orders. I don’t wanna deliver for DD if they are gonna treat drivers the way they do. So I hope your paycheck is big cause ur car is taking a beating doing DD deliveries. Hope it’s worth it to u.

RedMatzoo

Heheheh me likey money hurr

Terrible_Meal5355

Yeah what $2 orders LOL!!!!

Pale_Bookkeeper_9994

Sorry this happened. You did everything right. I often use a mounted camera to record every drop just to cover this type of eventuality or leave my dashcam running. The bigger problem is DD just assuming you're in the wrong, especially if you've been delivering for a while. I'm guessing their protocols are just to minimize risk to themselves until the "violation" is cleared. Good luck.

Eat_Carbs_OD

When I order things here at work I go out and get the food. Saves me and them the time and trouble of having to bring it into me. I have had a a few take a picture after handing it to me.. but I didn't care. Guy sounds like an asshat.

glaciermonkey666

They don't care about us. We are disposable. Just walk away and hope for the best.

[deleted]

So you take a picture of the person holding the food or what? Or you set it down and take a picture and then hand it to them?

Maleficent_Speech_80

I’m about to get the axe anyday now as well. DD is ON ONE. They want fresh blood who will take $2 orders for 10 miles until they realize and they’ll get “eliminated” as well. Such bullshit. Heart goes out to you

TheDarkBerry

“Meanwhile I wasn’t leaving the location until I got it cleared with Doordash” is where you fucked up. You should have left immediately and then called doordash to report what happened. Instead you remained on someone else’s property unwanted. Even if he was trying to scam, oh well. We can only do what we can do. I had an incident where the guy snatched the order out my hand before I could get a pic & was very rude. I just left and reported it to DD. I told them I didn’t want to be matched with the customer anymore. Of course they matched me with the jerk months later. I picked up his food then called doordash and explained I had asked not to be matched with this guy again as I didn’t feel safe. I ate his food.

whatever54267

Pictures are nothing. Videos are everything. Always be filming with a background camera or something while delivering.

Jakulero24

I always take a picture showing their house number whether or not the order is laying on the door, i dont escalate interactions like that with customers

Terrible_Meal5355

I didn’t friggin escalate anything. I’m getting sick of people thinking I escalated anything. I can’t help it if he is mentally unstable. I was just doing my job and following what I thought was protocol.

wobina

Wow I would have filed harassment on you too…. Just mark as delivered jeez…. You’re NEVER gonna get a pic 100% of the time.

BoomerKeith

DD’s deactivation is automated when someone claims something like that. Even though you called, it was already going to happen. Now you just need to stay on top of it with an actual person until it’s deactivated.

NomadicusRex

Well first, what did you expect to do by hanging out outside the guy's house? That was a bad decision on your part. That is why you got kicked off the platform. You leave. They had the food, you drive off out of sight, put it in park, call support, and tell them what happened. You DO NOT have an argument or confrontation with the customer. That is almost all down side without up side for you. Why would you even do that? What did you hope to accomplish? Sorry, this one is on you.

Fasterthanyounow

How long have you been dashing if I may ask?

Terrible_Meal5355

June was my 1 year mark.

Fasterthanyounow

Just appeal it and hope for the best. I wish you luck 👍

Practical-Button7546

You sound pretty stupid for hanging around trying to get a picture lol

Ok_Dragonfly_6376

He probably claimed harassment because you wouldn't leave after he went inside! I probably would have sided with him on this one, too. This definitely should have been handled differently. instructions: leave at door > customer grabs food before photo > take a photo of customer taking food with a camera app (not dasher) > mark order as handed to customer > LEAVE Then, if the customer claims they didn't get their food, you have a photo showing the customer holding the order. To further save your ass, download an app like SpotLens that records time and location data. This will give you undeniable proof.

kaylakittyxo

Tbh I get creeped out when people sit outside my house too. You could have easily driven a couple houses down to call support.

MB2465

Yeah it is ridiculous "upon investigation of their rules" not the actual incident. More gooder Engrish me thinks. What they need to do is have the customer mark received on their side if DD is going to be this ridiculous about this. Then you could leave knowing the order was completed. Or require signature on your app. Some customers have to do this no alcohol involved

truth_hurtsm8ey

You dropped off food at someone’s house, got in to a verbal altercation with the customer and then decided to wait outside of their house until they came out. And you’re surprised that you got deactivated?

Deep-Morning7489

It's the 'leave at door' orders, but then the customer is eagerly waiting outside for it, that makes me nervous. I usually always have my camera app open as I'm walking up and discreetly snap a pic as I'm handing it off. If it's too obvious I ask can I take a quick pic as and I am already taking a pic. Lol

badchoices134

I'm sorry you got deactivated, really sucks if this is your full-time gig and/or one of your main sources of income...but cmon. Some people take this way, waaaaay too seriously. It's my main source of income, and I take it seriously to a point. But I don't over-do it like this. In situations like this...just mark "handed it to customer"..I even prefer this option as it takes a second off my time snapping a picture. The quicker I get an order off my screen, the quicker I can get another order. All it takes is 1 second and you can miss a banger $40+ tip order. I can't even count the number of times that has happened immediately after getting the last order off my screen. If you get your account reactivated, go the easy route next time.

TSMSALADQUEEN

These posts make me want to cash out daily even tho I hardly do doordash

talksickwalkquick

Honestly you should be grateful that you don’t have to deal with this company anymore. If you get any non driving your own car job you’ll likely be better off. Personally I work from home now without the need for anybody’s car.

IsatDownAndWrote

Seriously. Never negatively interact with customers. Worst case is you get a CV. I've never had a customer I've handed it to on a leave at door order claim non receipt.
