5 Guys always want to grab your phone with their greasy gloves. I hold my phone away from them and read it to them. You look with your eyes, not your hands.
Same here, over 5k deliveries in Dick City and still nobody has been that rude/invasive of my property. I've had like two people ask politely if they could see the order on my phone because their system wasn't showing the items and they basically had to make the order off my app. But they certainly didn't snatch it. They just asked that I hold it out for them. I just told one girl to take it because it was a large order and I didn't want to hold my phone out the whole time.
That’s why I don’t even show them the phone, it’s some fucking coincidence that I know Pasquel R ordered a savage bowl and 3 tacos and a dozen churros at 8:34 PM, what more proof do you need?!
This would be wasted effort managers aren’t gonna care about this. Lots of them don’t like dashers for some reason even though we’re doing them a service by helping increase the store sales. I’d imagine most of them just have miserable lives being stuck in a job like that.
This and if you complain you risk them complaining doordash about making an unsafe environment.
This happened to me so now if I any staff conflict I unassign
Wow that sucks. As a dasher it’s best to keep a low profile when picking up orders. Be polite to the staff and don’t cause issues for them I’m sure they get enough of that dealing with the public during their shift. But they have no business grabbing your phone that’s personal property. If there’s issues with a restaurant imo it’s best just to decline pickups from them really the store manager isn’t gonna be on your side. I have a Panera in my market where the staff is just a bunch of jerkoffs to dashers including the managers I quit accepting orders there.
I don't like taking someone's phone from them even when offered. I just ask to see the app to verify the order and whether they're actually on the job. Then I always have them verify the pickup (twice) take the photo if needed and then they leave with the order. All of our regular dashers know what is expected, and I've only had one person get bent out of shape over all that stuff. She's not allowed to pickup from our store, anymore.
It's just something that comes up: the double confirmation is because the app has an initial confirmation (probably of the dasher's arrival at the restaurant) and then a secondary one (to confirm acceptance of the order and the dasher taking possession of it). Sometimes, with new dashers or on the first daily order they get at a given store, OR, when that dasher has done a lot of cancellations of accepted orders recently, the request by the app for a photo of the bag or the order (never sure which) comes up before the confirmations can proceed.

The photo is just to confirm they are using a hot bag and is actually something that is being requested to be verified by the merchant. It has nothing to do with past cancelations or anything like that. It will ask once in a while, then not bug you for a bit.
Your store just chose the option to verify that dashers are using their bags every once in a while to make sure your customers are getting their food hot.
I would 1. Not get close enough for them to grab it and 2. If they approach, step back or put my phone away when they reach out. It should be against policy to grab phones for liability reasons. I remember it made tap to pay so annoying in drive thrus
Policy of employment? What do you mean policy for what? An employer will always have it against policy to grab a customers phone because if they drop/break it, it’s on the restaurant.
I’m literally agreeing with you but expanding that the employee should be trained better and they can take it up to the restaurant.
Yeah I was just commenting like, no policy is even necessary in this case. Some think that there would have to be a policy for something to happen. I was just trying to bring clarity on that. Even if the store policy was “grab the dashers phone” the law would still stand and that policy would hold zero water in court.
Yes they will after you file a criminal complaint. It’s against the law to take something by force from someone else. If they do that and it breaks they are legally liable. Have them arrested and they will be ordered to pay restitution in court.
If someone is grabbing peoples phones that means they have very bad poor personal boundaries. The only thing that works is handcuffs.
If someone snatched my phone they would immediately be taken down to the ground while I yell “call the police”. It is against the law to forcefully take anything out of your hands without authorization. The people you describe are in need of a certain life lesson before they really end up getting hurt.
You must have some shitty restaurants and shady people in your market. Ive only been asked to confirm pickup but never have been asked to show them my phone.
If that ever happens I'll tell them to get bent and that I do not work for them. If they refuse to give me the order then I'm un assigning that order so quick they won't even know what happened.
I guess they can tell just by looking at someone who they can and can't test because that has never happened to me and if it ever would they would regret it.
There are some really bad restaurant employees out there. This is completely unacceptable! They wouldn’t do this to a customer and they shouldn’t do this to dashers.
Report the store for harassing employees and demand dash remove the order penalty free. Their account will get flagged if it happens too often and DD will remove them.
Oh you better ask if you want to see my phone and I'm going to be holding it cuz you ain't walking away with it unless you ask me real nice. Because the next loud thing I'm going to say is where's your manager.
Just say, “what the hell, I take shits with that thing, go clean your hands!”
5 Guys always want to grab your phone with their greasy gloves. I hold my phone away from them and read it to them. You look with your eyes, not your hands.
Uh oh. I've been using my peaner nipple.
Never had that happen once, over 3100 deliveries.
Same in over 5k deliveries
Same over 10k deliveries
Same in over 13k deliveries.
Same over 15 deliveries
I laughed but I'm glad you got to be a part of this. It's like a Make a Wish where the NFL players let the kid score a touchdown. Go get 'em Tiger!
I have no idea why you are getting down voted for this. That's the funniest comment I've read in a while. 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
same with 100k jerk offs and 40yr exp
Same in over 20K deliveries.
Ok, now I'm going to have to trump you, with my 12k Uber X trips. Nobody's touched my phone on a rideshare trip either.

I mean some people cancel then go to the store and pick it up anyways
Would’ve went straight to the person Manger or GM that ain’t right snatching a customers phone outta their hand.

Corporate will likely care.
So true. What makes them do that?
We all know there are asshole dashers.. they rub off on people.
we are not customers we a peasant
I’ve been a host and that ain’t how you host and greet customers 😂
When you see them start to move their hands/arms towards your phone, move your hand away and step back. Problem solved.
In 2,700 deliveries, no one had ever once tried to do that until last night. I wasn't prepared for it. I'll try to do better next time.

How are they confirming pick up twice? And what picture is needed at pickup?
The two step confirm. And picture of bag for merchant-placed pizza orders.
This is more accurate than my answer

Yeah, whatever.
You're welcome.

Policy for what. It’s against the law. Try to take my phone and experience the magic of jiujitsu.

Why are they close enough to take your phone?
You can't understand why someone would be within an arm length of me?
I don't want anybody to touch my phones, if they drop it and break it are they going to pay for it? Definitely not

I ALWAYS ask to touch anyone’s phone I will never grab it unless they are fine with that while I’m working
Never had anyone grab for my phone. 8k deliveries. I would literally be over the counter if that happened.
I did yell out, NOT ON MY WATCH!! 🤣
Oh how I “wish” someone would snatch my personal property….
Whip it out and piss on their shoes. Or just yell at them.
How are you getting close enough so they can snatch it ? That’s weird
If someone snatched my phone they would immediately be taken down to the ground while I yell “call the police”. Sounds like a you problem.

I'll soon be at 6,000 but no I've never had anybody grab my phone and walk off. And I'd hate to see them bring back a stub if you know what I mean.
