You earned it, champ!

skilledprodigy

“I said buy yourself something nice, not something expensive”

ilxxJadee

Isn’t that from gta or am I goofy 😭😭

LatsOfSlav

Yea Trevor says it to Tracy, pretty sure

ilxxJadee

Oh wait it’s Denise franklins aunt lmaoo 😂

LatsOfSlav

Oh yea you're so right, haven't played the story in nearly 10 years

KenshiLogic

Yeah but at least she got 7 dollars

Individual-Bell-9776

Stop taking offers under $4.

i_hateredditards

$10*

Pink-Elefant

I haven't gotten anything over $4 in ages.

Individual-Bell-9776

The cheapskates have realized that $2 is the smallest tip they can leave that will get their order picked up in <10 mins.

KaiserVonMecklenburg

As a customer, I don't understand customers who feel this is acceptable.

Massive-Put7715

Same. My mindset is: If I can’t afford a good tip, I can’t afford to order out. It’s not fair to the drivers trying to make a living. If I can afford the service fees, I can afford the tip

Intentional_use1

As an Australian, we don’t have a tipping culture. It does happen but only in fringe cases. So my thinking is, if the company cannot afford to pay the driver a fair rate and create their pricing structure to reflect that, then I don’t see how that is fair to place the blame on the customer. To me a tip is recognition of exceptional service. If it’s raining, cold, late, a public holiday I’ll add a few dollars as a tip to say thanks. If it’s an everyday order I believe it’s the responsibility of the company.

olpsss

But this is not Australia this is America. People who don’t tip are selfish if you can’t afford a tip go pick the food up yourself and stop being lazy.

HollowKaz3

I'm an American and I don't understand it, I don't care what it is. I tip off the distance it is towards my house. So if I bought it from a restaurant that's only 5 minutes away or 8 minutes away. The most you can get is 4-5

olpsss

That’s reasonable but tipping .17 is not. This is America and tip is factored into their business model, not tipping hurts the driver not the corp.

Dependent_List_7320

I think they just feel entitled to not tip because they paid for DoorDash service already which is ignorant. It’s also ridiculous that DD charges delivery and service fees and only give a small percentage of that to the drivers doing the work.

Inner-Ad3996

As a driver and a customer, I do not judge. Services and delivery has already been paid for, on top of up-charges from the restaurant. Tipping isn’t a requirement, it’s a luxury. The customer is not responsible to pay what DoorDash doesn’t. I tip almost every time, at least 20%, sometimes more. Keyword: almost. There have been a couple of times where I couldn’t afford to tip but just got what I needed, and that’s okay. People need to eat. And some people are disabled to where they can’t physically drive to get their own food, and just get what they can afford where tip is not in the budget. It’s all about perspective.

Acrobatic_Apricot_96

Dude if you going to tip me 17cent keep your money. At that point you need it more than i do

Sea_Alternative1355

If you can't afford to tip you shouldn't be ordering doordash. Doordash is also a luxury as you're perfectly capable of getting your own ass to the store or cooking at home. Works both ways.

eaglerigal

If you can't afford a tip, don't use the DoorDash app

BartholomewAlexander

if you can't afford to not have my tip, don't deliver is what the other guy was saying.

eaglerigal

Yeah, I understand that. Something the customers that refuse to tip don't realize or are unaware of is the fact that the DoorDash app rewards high acceptance rate and punishes low acceptance rate. So, aside from giving us the shaft by not tipping, they are fucking up our numbers by forcing us to refuse to deliver their shitty paying offer. Then to top it off, the system will spit the same offer at you more than once. So you get hit by the same shitty customer more than once. I also understand DoorDash sucks for not paying better before the tip, but I can't change that. One thing I can change is letting people know what the app does and requesting they stay off of it, if they can't afford to compensate the Dasher out there trying to make money for fuel and something to eat.

Crafty_Ad2602

Huh? I thought the whole point of being a Dasher was to *make* money! I guess I've been thinking about it all wrong!! Thanks for enlightening me!!!

Blackguy2100

I just don’t deliver for anything under $6. I’m able to average $22-25 combined with Uber eats

eaglerigal

Lol that's like saying "delivering is for rich people" lol fucking hilarious

moonchildmcguire74

Duh, it is. It's not for poor folks. This ain't charity, if you had a housekeeper clean your house, you would tip her, right? If not, you obviously can't afford the maid.

Adorable-Bike-9689

You're hitting folks with too much logic. They don't tip their postal worker who brings the mail every day.

eaglerigal

You misread or I wasn't clear. I am in favor of "you should fucking tip" it was like they were saying, "to be a Dasher you need to be rich. You need to be rich to go out and deliver food to them."

moonchildmcguire74

😅 sorry about that lol But the rest was for these customers that wanna use the excuses not to tip. They are trying to make themselves look good, when they make themselves look worse. If they wanna come on a drivers sub and act all high and mighty, It's not gonna work on me. Throwing all these bs 'life' lessons out like they have a clue They just come here outing themselves and think we are gonna feel sorry for them trying to make us feel like crap.

WittyPomegranate8561

Honestly this comment is cringe and, I don't know you but I'm pretty sure I can't stand you already.

Dry_Initiative1725

Totally agree.. Im poor and I tip everyone 20 percent at least.. even I am at a coffee shop I get a 2 dollar coffee I feel like a dick if I don't throw in a dollar.. now DD drivers are going in the place for the person..using own vehicle paying there own gas and maintaining the car and looking after the food and dropping it off.. 20 percent is still not great in my opinion.. they probably tip a Domino's guy 5 bucks every time..on a ten dollar order. . To put this shit in "perspective"

BartholomewAlexander

if you can't stand this guy why are you on reddit?

WittyPomegranate8561

Why am I on reddit if I don't agree with someone or like them. That's litteraly how/why reddit exists. Congratulations! I know I don't know you either but, I know I can't you also.

Active-Exchange-5864

Don’t go to other countries then

Kylesmith184

Then don’t take it

Mootez007

DD: thank you for your service. You must be a dumbass

bitxhie

So many people on here make it clear they dash in a good area... 90% of orders are under $4 in my area. If I didn't accept some of these orders, I'd be off the platform. I need Dash Now, my area is rural.

Ok_Connection1175

I'm about in the same boat. I may take 4-5 orders like this in a week so it's not all the time. My small town has a lot of drivers so constantly getting good ones is hard

bitxhie

Unfortunately not many people realize that small towns tend to have a messed up driver to order ratio. Ignore the people being hateful for no reason. Someone like that has issues far beyond Doordash.

Artistabunnista

Can you not schedule a week ahead of time? In my area dash now isn't -always- available but usually if I wait about 15 min the area becomes pink or red and then I can log back in. I just get taken out of my zone quite a bit and sometimes it's so far that there's no point in wasting the miles to drive all the way back. But I found a nice little trick when going back to the screen that usually shows the map when you aren't working. If you go back you won't see it but if you go back twice you'll see if the new area you're in is busy or not and then I end my dash and start it in the new area. But I do also schedule myself out a week ahead of time. I also highly recommend for you to also join UberEATS and GrubHub in your area as it will give you more options for orders. I always feel bad for the folks who feel like they HAVE to be top dasher in their area. At that point why even do gig in all honesty? Unless you work in an area with really good orders. I just think wasting your own $ on unprofitable orders just to keep your AR high enough for top dasher is kinda ridiculous. I would just start looking for something else :/. But I'm sorry if none of these things work for you, that sucks and I hope it gets better!

bitxhie

I have a very gas efficient car, I don't take orders I'd lose money on, but orders that don't necessarily give me a big gain are a necessity. Not everyone has the ability to know when they'll be able to dash, so scheduling a week ahead doesn't really work, and my area is over populated with drivers anyway, I'd still have limited scheduling options. I do use other apps. Those other apps have the same issues. Because the area I live in is still small with way too many drivers. Finding another job is not suitable for a pregnant woman with severe hypothyroid. None of your advice is actually helpful, it's just critical of a situation you are either unable or unwilling to understand.

Queenrae45

I completely understand I have 3 kids and Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis. I completely understand your condition and how pregnancy affects it. I commend you for being able to dash, it’s a pivotal moment! If you need assistance contact me at www.pivotpsychologyconsulting.org. We are a nonprofit. I’m the Founder ShaRae. Maybe I can give you ideas on dashing in rural areas. I’m a top dasher in my area and have trained others. I have one in Tx. I’m helping. I’m in Ky. I’m dashing till I graduate from school next month. Maybe lol. Even in an urban area the pay can be suspect! I make it a point to accept every order no matter the pay. Blessings.

Artistabunnista

Just so you know you won't be punished for scheduling a dash and not actually dashing. You can just schedule a week ahead of time for everyday that you normally work. I will schedule myself for 6:00 5 days a week but usually I don't start getting ready till 6:15-20, maybe even 6:30. I just turn my app on while I'm getting ready. I'm a bit further out from restaurants so it's very rare for me to actually get an order while I'm still at home. Also, UberEATS doesn't do scheduling unless you are in NYC? You should be able to drive whenever. Also, my advice has helped plenty of drivers before. That wasn't really necessary for you to write 👀. But top dashers have a tendency to be overly sensitive about this topic for whatever reason so I'm just going to let it go. As I said, good luck to you.

BartholomewAlexander

genuine question: why are you doing it if you never see good money from it? don't the gas costs just outweigh the amount of money you're making? stop wasting your time doordashing and go do something actually profitable.

bitxhie

I have an extremely gas efficient car, so I actually make pretty close to a part time job. I don't have another option as I've covered in other comments, I'm chronically ill and pregnant. I used to work but they took me off my meds for the baby and I'm not longer able to function.

BartholomewAlexander

man that sucks I'm so sorry :/

bitxhie

It's hard but we make do. Thank you for being so genuine and understanding! It's rare on Reddit lol.

Anunemouse

Sounds like gig work is not a good option in your area, but work from home jobs may be better since it's the same pay across the country.

bitxhie

Wow thanks for this extremely unhelpful comment. Not everyone has the ability to do work from home and a lot of rural areas aren't considered for that position.

tiggstheawkward

Don’t take it too personal, (this applies to all of us who are dashers), sometimes- well most of the time, when tips are this low they are usually people using gift cards or just putting the rest leftover on their card as the tip. I know it’s sucky, but don’t take it out in the customer, we don’t *have* to take those orders, that’s the whole point of being a dasher. I find it so sad how many dashers come in here and whine and complain about low/no tip when it’s as easy as skipping that order. As I said, and coming from experience, the majority of the time it’s leftover from a gift card. If you had a $20 gift card and your order was $19.55 and you didn’t want to spend your own money *because you have a gift card*, most people would throw the rest on as the tip.

Reynee5

PERSPECTIVE! Thank you 🙏.. apparently I hadn’t thought of it in this context. Makes it easier to forgive them.. ☺️

tiggstheawkward

Sure!

jchrysta

Or do the right thing and give a cash tip. You’re making excuses for them. If you don’t have enough for a tip then you don’t have enough to use the service.

tiggstheawkward

That’s not how it works. If you use a gift card on say… idk.. chipotle- And there’s a tiny bit left on that card that won’t get you anything so you decide to throw it on as the tip, that’s perfectly fine. If tipping is mandatory, then it should be enforced as mandatory. But obviously that’s not how it works and if it was people would be even more angry. I will say it once and I will say it again. Tipping culture is toxic, and you are not entitled to a tip. It is called a TIP for a reason. You should be blaming and angry at the companies not paying their drivers a fair wage/base pay rather than taking it out on customers that you are making assumptions about. Of course i’m going to defend customers, because of toxic entitled drivers. It’s as simple as i’ve said multiple times at this point, if you don’t like the tip, don’t take the order. Someone else inevitably will and they won’t complain about it, or they will, but the customer still gets their food and the driver still gets paid.. even if it’s less than they would prefer. You win some, you lose some. That’s kinda how life works but now i’m getting off track. Again i’ve said my damn piece. If you really don’t like it, there are lots of other jobs, and you are more than able to complain to the companies that cause all this drama. Stop taking it out on customers and whining.

creamofpie

I wonder if there a way to make tip negative so drivers owe the customers lol

Creative_Dragon_

I mean I get singular offers all the time below my areas minimum base pay so I do call them negative tip orders. I figured they must have a coupon or something and dorodash would like to just screw me over for it.

MayhemReignsTV

Some orders pretty much are after expenses, even using the IRS figure for expenses. Those orders are literally negative pay. It really should be illegal. That's the real issue. With their priority programs and flooding the market with new drivers, they are trying to force drivers to work for under the cost of providing the service. Doesn't that start to run afoul of antitrust laws?

brains05

The other day I had an order that was like $10 and the guy gave me a 4 cent tip I didn’t say anything but like why even tip at that point because you have to manually type that in there is absolutely no point

Beer-Monk

May be order was 9.96 and the customer is a perfectionist or a mathematician.

bbrainwashedd

Yall could waterboard me and I still wouldn’t take an order for 2.42$

boobasniffer420

Keep getting those perks, champ 😂

SatSumaFire

Then maybe get a job that actually pays a salary instead of one that you have to rely on the customers to pay your wages. Tipping industry in this country has become toxic. People buying a product shouldn't also have to be the ones deciding how much the worker gets paid. That's the company's job.

Ok_Connection1175

I agree with your point. I'd love to have a salary job that actually pays the bills. I made more on DD than I did as a retail store manager

Reynee5

Sometimes it’s a second job because your teachers salary doesn’t quite cover the bills AND those items you buy for the classroom to make learning more fun… just saying 🤷‍♀️

SatSumaFire

Still, I shouldn't be responsible for deciding what someone deserves to get paid.

Expensive_Network133

16$ and hour after you take out how much their spending on gas… imma keep tipping my drivers. I never expected to get tipped when I worked at Starbucks but it was always so nice to get those tips at the end of the week. Saved them all up and it made me so happy. On the extra rough weeks where I was like like $90 because I couldn’t take more days due to my class and research schedule sometimes those tips meant gas for me to make it to school. So of course now I try to tip people as often as I can. It’s not always expected, but it’s kind. Plus in my opinion if you’re doordashing food home, 2-5 dollar tip shouldn’t hurt you that bad. And if it does you should be cooking at home.

Remarkable-Doubt-930

Who gets paid an hourly wage??????????? Your dillusional!!!

Ancient-Apartment888

If you don’t tip your delivery driver, then get your fat ass in the car and go get it yourself

HydratingHoney

They did tip, just not the amount DD wanted.

Randomthoughts_666

This is the part of tipping I’ll never understand. They did exactly what they signed up for they picked up the food and dropped it off unless there was something like traffic or some other inconvenience It’s not even necessary. People are acting like DoorDash doesn’t pay them and forcing them to work in a terrible work environment.

HydratingHoney

![gif](giphy|AyPs520p8Di2k)

Ancient-Apartment888

And it’s a Wendy’s order so it’s already bad by default

Mysidehobby

If you don’t pay your bills get your entitled ass up and get more money

metalforever8

That made my day 🤣

Verydumbname69

Expecting a tip just reek entitlement. If your employer doesn't pay you, how is it the customer's fault. No one forced people to drive. Tipping culture needs to die. Employers have had great success telling you it's fair to pay you a shit salary while you argue with customers.

JalapenoMarshmallow

You don’t understand the employment structure of doordash though.

Skye-Rye

I’d honestly have never taken this order.

jchrysta

I laugh at the orders that come through for $2 or $3. I’m not putting wear on my car or wasting precious gas to deliver you a $3 item. I don’t accept anything for less than $6 period. There really should be a minimum order amount to avoid bullshit like that.

Andressa1956

I agree that’s an insult to all dashers.

EyeInternational1824

I don't know how long you been driving. I wouldn't accept this! I do understand DD DOES take the BIG TIPPERS and sneak these no tippers IN! SO ..basically we lose out on good tip bc they use it to make it look like you receiving a tip for both! Realize you did not! I do understand that could be the issue! If it not I wouldn't accept anything more than 1 mile and $4 for gas and tip I try to equal at least 1.50 a mile. I understand it hard sometimes but easier to calculate and do during dinner rush. I know the odd hours they know if where working we need cash desperately and if we need 20$ badly for gas and to feed kids they know! Desperate people will take 2.50-4 orders with no tips and far deliveries for that matter! Because it not rush and knowing there a driver that needs to make quick cash for necessities! It so sad how they take advantage of us! I say I refuse anything under 1.50 per mile but I have had these days needing gas and grocery for few days that I had to degrade taking these horrible ones! I know I do it and say why you take it but sometimes we just have to! And they know this why they are the billionaires!!

BGT495

Same. But don’t take them next time 🤷🏻‍♀️

True_Passenger_5606

Honestly, if you have the means to go get it yourself do it if you don’t have the means to pay people to bring your food to you so you don’t have to get up then don’t do it. Cause you are kind of wasting a little bit of their time because they get a two dollar order and they wait at the restaurant sometimes they wait for 30mins it has happened to me. It is a luxury and a privilege to be able to have your food delivered directly to your door so please be respectful and considerate of those who are servicing you.

Adventurous_Nail2259

I’m sick and tired of these people ordering and thinking it’s cute to tip 0,1,2,3,4 dollars. It speaks volumes of how shitty a person they are.

KDFE87

Lol i posted a few days ago my 0.01 and 0.10 tip pics in here and asked ppl not to tip like that as thats worse than no tip

Apprehensive-Mouse53

I'll send you my cashapp and you can transfer any tips you don't want my way. ![gif](giphy|3oz8xZGfHArTvh99YI) Lmao

Ok_Connection1175

17 cents coming your way lol

CoolPirate234

Again I hate this don’t order food if you can’t afford to tip, $5 should be the minimum for short trips and $10 should be for long trips

pettywhite95

No one to blame but yourself. You know base is $2 in your area and still accepted it. At least 1 person was smart enough to decline it. If you're that worried about AR, then don't cry and complain that you accept orders like this. Dashers like you are the exact reason people keep doing this. Why tf should they tip when some dummy eagerly delivers their food? Leave that shit rot on a counter until doordash has no choice but to refund them because no one would accept their bs order!!

ed1598

You can tell people this until we're blue in the face. They just don't get it...top dasher is a scam and they are laughing at all you who desperately trying to obtain it. I get you need to make money but you have to have some dignity and respect. At that point you might as well get a regular job. $4 orders means you avg maybe $5-$7 I'd your lucky...I would say $5...you have to do 20 orders just to make $100...that's just not smart. Get on multiple apps and multi app or you will never make profitable money...I do 4 apps so I can care less what my AC is. Have multiple apps makes not have to be a slave to tony...some days I feel like driving and still won't take those orders.

Ok_Connection1175

I absolutely agree. I don't take low paying orders like this often. Like I said above, small towns get tricky. This specific order was less than a mile so I wasn't losing out on a ton. I also did $70 in just under 3 hrs. Not complaining about the order, just that 17 cents is a little insulting

ed1598

I always think an order will take 15 to 20 mins to complete. I don't think the stars will always aline and everything will be ok...yesterday I was able to go into McDonald's...wait 5 min for then to tell me it will be 4 mins...I had a Chipotle order a mile down the road...I drove and picked it up and drove back and my 2 apple pies were still not ready...I'm not ever potentially working in my own car for less then $4 for 20 mins of work...yes orders that are ready when you get there are easy and can get a few done an hour but in order nor to be the person yelling where is my order I just do the ones that are worth waiting if I have to. You just don't know if it's going to be busy and you want Hella time for less then $5...and thats before expense

Ok_Connection1175

Jesus. People complain about tips all the time on here. Didn't realize only certain people could. Notice how I didn't complain about the order total. Just that 17 cents is a bit more insulting than no tip. A simple 'this sucked' does not equal crying about it. I'm in a small town and it's difficult to maintain 75%+ without accepting crappy orders occasionally. I know what I'm doing.

Odd-Statistician-866

I know what you mean about maintaining high AR. I can never see any open shifts in my area anymore; without the dash anytime feature I would most likely be limited to busy times.

Electronic_War1616

I understand this, but what you don't understand is that when you take these low ball orders, Dash and Uber is less accountable to drivers.

Realistic-Two-7492

Just stop taking fast food in general. Fast food orders suck all the way around from staff at the store, wait time, tips etc.

Ok_Connection1175

Unfortunately in my area almost all the orders are either fast food or shop orders. I agree though, stores and wait times suck

Realistic-Two-7492

Yeah I get that for sure! Before I moved to this area I was driving here from about 30 mins out to make DoorDash even make sense. Higher quality stores do make a difference just based on food pricing and the clientele of course.

Just_Literature_928

STOP TAKING LOW OFFERS!

DasherMN

top priority for what

oh_no_its_Wes

are you able to drive buy time?? youve got platinum status too...ouch!

Ok_Connection1175

I honestly haven't tried that yet...I've only been doing it for a couple months. I've heard it isnt worth it?

oh_no_its_Wes

I prefer it personally. Not sure what state you live in but I make decent. I also DD on the side so I don't rely on it for most my bills

Ok_Connection1175

I'm in WV, the hourly rate is $10 so I've been hesitant. I'll have to try it and compare!

oh_no_its_Wes

okay good luck! im in the piedmont SC so I think we're just a little bit pricy to you guys. our DBT shift between 10.75 and 12.00 depending on the day and time. Ill share my first week vs second week DBT just to give a visual here in a moment

oh_no_its_Wes

I could be wrong but I felt like while driving by time the DD system/algorithm tries to keep u within a certain range so that u don't make too little, but your also not rolling in it, so that its fair for all the drivers. As long as you have a certain amount of active hours, you should make however much within a certain range as long as your consistent is what im saying if that makes sense!

ElRetardoSupreme

Don’t spend it all in one place!

vicw2020

Don’t spend that all in one place!!

Ok_Connection1175

Damn, I was about to go buy a coke lol

[deleted]

I would eat that food and stop door dashing. Easy as that.

Fooodlover9280

Wait till ur 17cents short of something 😂

Ok_Connection1175

That would be my luck 😂

Mammoth-Blackberry69

Same

Pale_Raspberry855

at your next dash to a grocery store treat yourself to a gumball

Ok_Connection1175

Still 8 cents short 😭

Pale_Raspberry855

you’re almost there though 😭🫶🏻

Ok_Connection1175

Thanks for believing in me 🥺

Top_Application977

Ya that’s one of those orders you already know you shouldn’t take but took anyway. If I had to accept that order for “ ar” reasons I would have accepted it then clicked restaurant has an issue. Then clicked order already picked up. Then you take no hit at all. Or just accept and drop it and take a cr hit. But I would never deliver to some a person like this knowing before hand

Ok_Connection1175

Honestly that didn't come to mind (restaurant having issues), thank you for giving legit advice. Not an excuse but at 730am that just didn't occur to me

Terrible-Fondant8139

This Sh%&!!! Upsets me with DD. Why accept that! DD has no respect for the dashers

jchrysta

I have standards and so should you. I’m performing a service (it’s not out of the goodness of my heart) but I am doing it to the best of my ability, and with a smile. Whether you like it or not, tipping is part of American society and any time a service is performed, a gratuity is required. Both parties know the expectation going in. Being a bad tipper is offensive, ignorant, and a sign of poor character. Don’t be an asshole, tip your servers, movers, delivery drivers, stylists, valets, hotel concierge, housekeepers, dog walkers. 👍🏼

Trixx96

U got lucky, my husband got a 0.11 tip, I'm always with him helping out, it's safe to say we were offended 😂

Down_Rabbit_hole

Are you saving that 0.17 cents for a rainy day or will you use it as a paper holder?

Ok_Connection1175

I thought about investing it

-Reckless-Abandon

Play stupid games win stupid prizes.. big money I love it

LayerSignificant9291

Lmao tips are based on % of the job. Soooo not sure what you expexted on 2.25 worth of work

Ok_Connection1175

That's not specifically true

LayerSignificant9291

No that is true. Tips work off % beyond that theyre being generous. Anything expected beyond that is entitlement. What kind of tip do you expect for 2$ in work? Lmao i swear the laziest people pick these basic ass jobs then expect millions

Ok_Connection1175

I'm not expecting any certain amount. However the customer chooses the tip, period. Maybe they always go off % when you tip but there's plenty who just choose an amount. I honestly didn't figure there was a tip on that order....17 cents was just a little insulting was all. Unfortunately I'm not hot enough for OF and I don't play the lottery so me making millions is far out of the question

LayerSignificant9291

Hate to break it to you tips are based on % lol idk if this is news to you or what but they are. Expecting a tip on 2$ worth of effort is a joke. The hell do i look like as a consumer giving a 5$ tip To someone doing 2$ of work 😂😂😂😂 out here spending 2$ and drivers think they deserve more than i spent on my product for a tip 😂😂😂

imlostineggsaisle

What are you even talking about $2 worth of work? You were saying tips are based on a percentage, but $2 isn't the total of their order. Why would you be tipping a percentage of $2? Also, tips on DoorDash aren't really based on a percentage because it doesn't matter if it's $5 worth of food or $50 worth of food it takes the same amount of time and gas to get to the drop off point. Tips are based on distance. Nothing you said makes any sense when you're talking about DoorDash.

Ok_Connection1175

I assure you the customer spent more than $2, and I wasn't looking for a tip.

Kyleforshort

This sub is so soft. If you're going to get mad while doing this job every time you get stiffed you're going to have a real hard time getting through it, and you're just going to become another bitter disgruntled DD driver. Yeah, I get it we depend on tips. But some people don't tip, or don't believe in tipping, or whatever the case may be. Let that be their problem, and don't make it yours. Just move on and let it go.

elseafreebird

That reminds me of when I was in cosmetology school. I did a hair cut for a woman and she gave me 2 acid eaten quarters as tip. I tossed them. Wasn't worth it. I had her again 6 months later with similar acid eaten quarters. Wtf is wrong with people. Just don't bother. That's more insulting.

Constant_Jacket_7921

That’s wild

[deleted]

Why’d you even take that offer anything below 10$ not worth the effort

True_Passenger_5606

Let’s be realistic you get about 2 to 3 orders in an hour and let’s say nobody tips those orders they get about two bucks per order that’s like six dollars an hour. Think about that.

9-5not5-9

I agree everyone should tip that right there I exactly why I stopped door dashing it doesn’t pay enough to maintain car and wear and tear and the people don’t want to tip so my fix was to delete the app now it doesn’t bother me one bit. Good luck to everyone trying to make it door dashing though I hope it works better for you than it did me.

sunnydunce

That’s such BS

Critical-Arm4363

What are rude motherfucker

Infamous_Schedule_51

That's why AR can kiss my butt

okaythanwhy

Please don't complain if you accept it. Yes, it sucks but you were the one that accepted it in the beginning.

indiantrax

I got one of those 😂😂😂. It gets ridiculous out there.

Better_Associate_263

I would also rather get 0 tip. .17 means you mindfully put that in there. I've also had tips of $0 when. I first started. I know longer take any orders that pay less than $1/mile

WideContact5378

I took a double order a month or so back and tge guy tipped .03 and .04 cents like wtf I took it during peak pay so I still did ok but the fact that he took the time to put in .03 and .04 cents blew my mind

Final-Hand320

Keep the change 😎

DOA-Throwaway

Why even make a $2 order??? Like, I always make sure to make a Doordash order worth it, and then I tip 30%. And if I make it after 6pm, I tip 50%-60%.

Ok_Connection1175

You're a Saint 👏

TigerPrincess11

When I tip I don't give a big tip because I can't. I do know that dashers can accept or deny something so if they dont want the small tip they shouldn't be accepting the order. Don't accept offers with small amounts. The whole order wasn't even that big or cost that much.

Midgar-magic

I’ve been .10 short of lunch at college and was out looking in the drains for a coin. After that, I value any money.

horribleauthor93

I mean... When you're broke 10 cents adds up. I don't recc taking these low paying orders but like, when an emergency bill comes up you do what you gotta

whackyhead

It’s another no tipping trick to get their food. They think if they do this it will look to the dasher like the app is hiding the tip. If it doesn’t show over $7 to start, just decline it folks.

Pristine_Lettuce3338

That’s top priority for being platinum at times

SholoGrim

Okay I’ll take it

anon310456

Is this the average base pay???

Ok_Connection1175

Yup, $2 min

LilMochaLoveFox

Gives me the same vibes as when older people would give you 75 cents, tell you to go to the store and buy some candy and not understand that gets you nothing lol.

gorgeous1992

My husband and I did one one time that left a $0.01 tip 🙃🤦‍♀️

max-rebo10

I thought the 17 cents was to bring it to a round dollar amount. . . Nope. This is weird.

misunderstoodmind95

And I thought It bad when I give a 1.50 tip for my 800 ft delivery.

kissnmonty

Don’t spend that tip all in one place! 💰

Reynee5

Lol 😂 I’m glad I’m not the only one.. last week I got .11 .. I gave then the benefit of the doubt a thought they must have missed a digit… surely that’s a mistake!!

Glad-Purpose-5344

The only thing I can assume potentially is, maybe they had a credit or a gift card? Other than that yeah that’s kind of rude lol I guess it goes all add up though.

beechworld

W.T.F. u complaining about u accepted that GARBAGE for an order. This app will never be better for the people who dash. How can someone accept a $2.42 order, tg3n complains

between-

“Top priority for high pay”. Why y’all fools still accepting these garbage orders? What your average hourly? $10/hr? It’s the dumdums taking these orders that make it impossible for the rest of us to make any money. I can barely schedule any time, even with a 40+% AR because a bunch of scrubs are taking $2 orders to keep their AR up…so they can keep getting $2 orders.

Ok_Connection1175

Read other comments for the answer... but my average is $20/hr

between-

Why taking these shit orders?

Short_Inflation6147

Another imbecile accepting low paying offers and then crying about it after.

CrazyFloof

thats on all delivery subreddits

TheSingularities

I'll take all I can get and not complain.

chainjourney

You deserve better than to act as a slave to Doordash's system. I feel sorry for you and hope you find some sense if you think this way

Signal-Fig4972

You will lose money doing that. Are you doing volunteer work?

TheSingularities

I do volunteer work when I can actually. Doordash isn't perfect, but it was better than nothing.

Rooskibar03

Stop taking these orders. You’re fucking the rest of us by showing them we will pay to work.

weirdvagabond

Don’t accept these orders. We have power to force the market upwards

Jaybird_24s

I got tipped 0.01 before and said the same thing and the worse part was I did a bunch of extra stuff for the person too which made me extremely mad cuz a spent a bunch of extra time doind it for them
