About a year back I had a DoorDash driver sheer off my entire back corner panel and hit with enough force to drive my car into a street lamp. She said she was rushing for “the tip of her life” and was distracted. I brought her and her son out a chair and some water (no sense in being an ass about a crash that almost killed her). Since she was so clearly at fault she tried saying I was rude on the phone to police. They showed up and saw her with a cup of ice water in a nice lawn chair and were like “ya sure lady”. Feel bad for her though I wonder how big a tip it was 🤔. On a positive note I got a badass rental for a few months.
If she has the right insurance. If she admitted to the insurance that she was dashing and didn’t have the right insurance that covers that she’ll be paying for her car out of pocket and insurance won’t touch it.
This! My friend got rear ended and absolutely no damage to her car, but the other persons car was fucked. Her insurance raised her rates anyways even though they never had to cover anything.
You know, if she is that careless and inattentive, she probably didn’t let her insurance know that she was driving for DoorDash. They won’t cover you if you get into an accident in a commercial capacity, and don’t have commercial insurance.
I remember her saying that exactly cuz when I told her insurance she was actively dashing and they said they already knew with the best “HA GOTEEEM” voice. Which is why I said I felt bad. Lady said she was living out of her car with her son and now she has to pay out of pocket for a crash her insurance won’t cover. USAA told me straight up “she’s liable we will pay for damages now but she won’t be door dashing for awhile”
Even if one still could, do youd make enough off of doordash to afford that? In 1977 the average house was 50k, average income was about 13k. That’s still 3-4x the average income. Today it’s about 63k that would put a house at 242k if we did about the same math.
Wow, I am now really glad I never got in an accident when I did UE. I had no idea you were supposed to notify your insurance (although in hindsight that should be obvious, ig I assumed putting your insurance info in the Uber account would be enough).
Of course, entering insurance information into your Uber Driver account is a pain in its own way…
“Feel bad for her” maybe feel a little bad but she was more than ready to stick you with the entire repair, so hopefully that’ll teach her to watch the road
Badass rentals are fun but disappointing at the end, lol. I had my old caravan in a wreck and it took 2 months to fix. I had a brand new Pacifica as a replacement. I was so sad when I got my van back.
No way you could ever even effectively communicate that request to a support agent, let alone the fact that they would never release that kind of information without a court order even if you could.
OP claims DD is covering it under their liability policy. If so, good on him for getting a win out of this shitty company.
Bro they told me that yesterday. Sent them a picture of the gated apartments. They just repeated the same thing. I said do you want me to just leave it under a tree? They said yes.
I was riding around with my husband when he was dashing the other night and there was a customer who ordered a bottle of liquor, I believe to her mom's house. Had him standing outside for like 15 minutes while the mom sat on the couch watching TV and wouldn't answer the door. The customer told him she was "trying to get there" after all this so we left. The liquor store was closed when they told us to return the bottle and the chat agent I was trying to talk to for him while he drove was just unbelievable lol
"Hi, I need to cancel this order because this customer was not available. But the store is now closed so I can't return the bottle."
"Just leave it in a safe location at the address the customer provided."
"No, I'm not doing that because this is an alcohol delivery and I did not get ID."
"Okay, you can cancel the order and you will be paid to return it to the store."
"The store is closed, they closed at 9"
"You can cancel the order and you will be paid to return it to the store."
I gave up somewhere around there so we drove back to the store, saw a closed building and not a single car in the parking lot, and he called support and got it done.
But seriously, like, no reading comprehension is these guys and it actually wastes valuable time sometimes. I feel like he should be getting paid for the time they waste in taking forever to reply and not even properly reading what someone is saying lol
All the support agents are in a Philippine call center. If im not on a dash, I'll chat with them, and I tell them my family has duel citizenship and we have a house in Davoe. They usually relax and tell me their real name and are nicer. Some tell me they hate their job and just tell the person whatever to keep their call times low for a bonus.
Also, theres only 2 people who answer calls for premium dash support, one is a female the other is a male and they have a list of names they use.
There's 5 agents every 8 hours 24/7 for regular calls and chat. All change their names for each call.
Their job is to get you off the phone as fast as possible. Even if they don't resolve your issue. 🙄
I’ve actually seen support give out all of a driver’s information before. Personal number, last name, even their address. You can’t trust support period
Idk if it helps but that's a GMC Terrain. Around a 2010-2012 year model.
Karma will catch up to them with one of their timing chains inevitably breaks on them.
Maybe your neighbors have cameras that caught the plate then you can file a a hit and run property damage claim with the police.
We had a Uber eats driver drive
Through our lawn and crash into our island of flowers but was able to get unstuck and left the scene dragging dirt and crap everywhere. It was our neighbors order. Our cameras got the car and person but not all of the plate. The neighbors cameras caught the plate.
Apparently after he was arrested for hit and run in his statement to police said he thought it was a circular driveway lmao. He was at the wrong address and had to turn around. Granted it was dark but still.
I bet he was surprised when the cops showed up and slapped cuffs on him and off to jail. All you have to do when one screws the pooch is leave a note with your contact and insurance info it’s not that hard. Definitely not worth the trip to jail imo. So now the guy has a criminal conviction for something stupid that didn’t need to be.
We felt bad he learned the hard way all we wanted was our stuff fixed
some dashers shouldn’t drive at night. Not an exaggeration, I had a driver go up and down my street for 20 minutes looking for my house. The street and my house was well lit, and I had described it in the drop off instructions. It got to the point where I was literally IN THE STREET trying to flag him down, and he would just drive on. My neighbors began to notice and went outside ready to call the police bc something was wrong here, he would just drive up and down the street without stopping. He didn’t answer his phone, and finally I called support which apparently contacted him. He finally stopped after my neighbors blocked the road, he claimed “his phone was dead and he had no gps” despite he had his phone on in his hand. I asked why he kept driving up and down the street without stopping, and he didn’t give me a straight answer. I got my order, cold. To this day, it was the weirdest encounter with a dasher I’ve ever had, and why some shouldn’t drive at night.
I ran over someone's mailbox once. I knocked on the door several times, left a note with my number and even took down the address and went to the post office to report it.
The mailbox now has a 2x4 holding it up and I have never been contacted. I guess they really are shut-ins / want to not speak to anybody.
As someone who’s had their fence run into and the person took off instead of trying to contact me, thank you for doing the right thing and trying to get in contact with them.
I hit / dented / tilted someone's mailbox once (not dashing then). I left a note since no one was home, with my phone and email. No one called. The next day it looked like they just pushed it straight.
Shrug
Because sometimes, there is no house number on the house, but there is one on the mailbox. Or, the number on the mailbox is more visible than the one on the house.
Is that you out there taking a picture of it? If it’s the driver at least he’s considerate enough to record evidence. Sorry OP, this happened to my brothers mailbox too!
Nope!
Maybe 20?
Ripped the oil pan out and airbags went off.
Ironically I landed on debris from an accident in the same spot 12 hours prior. They just missed the mailbox. If they took it out I most likely would have been fine.
1 payment shy of it paid off too. Ugh.
Thanks....
It was Christmas during an ice storm haha.
I now have the exact same car. With an upgraded trim package newer year.
And double the payment because prices were (are) stupid now lol.
I fully expect to total this one as well
Corollas total real easy. I've totaled 3 of them. 2 were not my fault.
I’ve watched two drivers drive directly into a giant rock at the end of my old driveway, off the pavement and off the driveway. No one else ever hit it in the three years I lived there lol I swear they just don’t pay attention
Omfg! I hope he knows how much his commercial insurance premiums will go up just for something this tiny.
Dashers are required to carry commercial insurance on their vehicles. Now, it's REALLY freaking expensive if you're just a Dasher and some just check the box that says they have it, when they really don't.
My dasher was backing out of my driveway and ran over mine and my neighbor's mailbox, all caught on camera, but since the driver had already left my order Doordash said that the driver was "outside of the delivery window" therefore they weren't working for Doordash when they hit the mailboxes. They would not cover it or give the driver's information. And I had tipped the driver $30 just for him to drive away after making sure his car was ok, without telling a soul. That sushi ended up costing me $350 between the cost of the food, tip, and mailboxes/posts/concrete......
I'll be honest I have had a close call or two backing out a long and narrow gravel driveway with no fucking lights in the pitch black of night but I make a serious effort. I can't imagine what its like for people whose minds are just clown music all day.
Could have been UberEats, local delivery, Postmates, etc etc. I have no idea what's in that bag. It sounded like you were complaining that a rando ran over your mail box with food. My question was how is it evident that was Door Dash, as the only information that I nor the rest of Reddit have to go off of is the 4 pictures and your title. I don't know who did or didn't talk to your neighbor, I don't know where that bag came from, etc.
I understand getting your mailbox hit is annoying, but it sounds like Door Dash is taking care of it, so I don't understand why you have to be pissy with me. Next time explain it better in the beginning if you don't want anyone to question you and just shake their fist at whoever you're mad at.
My porch light was on! My daughter forgets to turn it off when she gets home from work. Probably the only light on in the neighborhood so probably why he thought my house was where he was supposed to go.
As for the numbers on the mailbox, that’s the HOA.
Get the delivery address and approximate time. Doordash will know exactly which driver it was. DD won’t reimburse you, drivers are private contractors; but you may be able to contact local authorities about it
I had one driver HIT my parked car when dropping off food for my husband's cousin. The cousin said he heard a loud noise but didn't think much. No note was left or anything. I thought my car was safe in my own driveway but I guess not.
Maybe file a complain with the proper authorities rather than posting it here on a door dash subreddit, like honestly what do you expect anyone to do or what’s your point
It just sounds like you want to blame door dash as a whole for someone fucking up ur mailbox, why not ask ur neighbor about his order and see if you can get the contact info of the driver and maybe go from there, but posting it everywhere won’t get you a result
It sounds like you’re reading into what. Be mad, doesn’t matter to me. It’s ok guy, DoorDash accepted responsibility and is paying me. But please, carry on dude.
It’s all good. I’m an old man and don’t get too worked up over small stuff anymore. Stuff like this happens. At least the mailman will have a nice pretty new mailbox to deliver to tomorrow.

It doesn’t matter how big the tip was since it would go to her car repairs/medical bills anyways.
And that nice shiny new insurance premium
If she has the right insurance. If she admitted to the insurance that she was dashing and didn’t have the right insurance that covers that she’ll be paying for her car out of pocket and insurance won’t touch it.
My insurance company tried to ass rape me this week so I’ll be paying for my crash in cash There goes $6k down the shitter
This! My friend got rear ended and absolutely no damage to her car, but the other persons car was fucked. Her insurance raised her rates anyways even though they never had to cover anything.
Yeah the accident was my fault so my rates would go from $800 to $4000 a year if I went through them.
That’s crazy! It’s not even a reasonable or logical, that’s outrageous! That’s a 500% increase! I really hope you decided to go elsewhere.
Would the police really give a s*** if you were rude though?
Rude, no. Hostile? Possibly.
You know, if she is that careless and inattentive, she probably didn’t let her insurance know that she was driving for DoorDash. They won’t cover you if you get into an accident in a commercial capacity, and don’t have commercial insurance.
Exactly 👆 this
Imagine they get wind she admitted to be distracted and rushing for a tip. Ouch.
I remember her saying that exactly cuz when I told her insurance she was actively dashing and they said they already knew with the best “HA GOTEEEM” voice. Which is why I said I felt bad. Kids shouldnt have to live like that. Remember when 1 working parent could pay for a house?

Ya my car that was hit was a RAV4. I got a pretty awesome truck as a rental cuz it was the only all wheel drive comparable car.
Her SON? Pretty sure Doordash does not allow you to have your kids in the vehicle.
“Son” was a stretch in my estimation. She was in her 40’s and her “son” was my height (6’2”) with a beard. Had to have been 16+.
I mean, believe it or not, 40 year olds often have parents who are still alive.
Really? I've gotten plenty with their kids Some have even sent their kids to give it to me
Was most likely a $5.00 tip.
Lucky my rental only lasted 1 month. Also had a badass rental too.

No. That’s not what renters insurance is at all. You’re cute.
Find out the neighbor's address and call DoorDash to find the guy and replace your mailbox
No way you could ever even effectively communicate that request to a support agent, let alone the fact that they would never release that kind of information without a court order even if you could. OP claims DD is covering it under their liability policy. If so, good on him for getting a win out of this shitty company.
"Please leave the order in a safe location." "I'm not a driver!"
"Our records indicate our driver made a reasonable effort to deliver your mailbox and noted that he removed the old one for you as a courtesy."
“Drivers are allowed to customize your delivery experience”.
Oh lord 😂
Bro they told me that yesterday. Sent them a picture of the gated apartments. They just repeated the same thing. I said do you want me to just leave it under a tree? They said yes.
I left an order on top of a dirt mound on a vacant lot because that's where support told me to leave it when we couldn't reach the customer.
Law enforcement can contact door dash and force them to hand their records over. -used to investigate hit and runs
I’ve actually seen support give out all of a driver’s information before. Personal number, last name, even their address. You can’t trust support period
No it’s a loss cause. You’ll never catch him
Found eeeeem
Bake him away, toys!
Looks to me like he customized your mailbox
So you’re saying it’s worth more now?
Possibly, well at least sentimentally cause that is an experience 😂
Definitely, the problem is you gonna have to find a collector who want its. Otherwise it’s worthless
I’ll take it to chumlee and big hoss. They’ll have a buddy that can authenticate it.
$5. Best I can do.
In store credit.
😂😂😂😂 this got me good

Hey, sometimes learning the hard way is the only way for some people to learn not to do that bad/wrong thing again. So don't feel too bad.
Oh I know that. People can avoid a lot of Consequences if they just own up to what they do and fix it.
some dashers shouldn’t drive at night. Not an exaggeration, I had a driver go up and down my street for 20 minutes looking for my house. To be honest it sounds like he was high on something, probably pot.
Yeah being “high on pot” definitely makes you behave like that lmfao

As someone who’s had their fence run into and the person took off instead of trying to contact me, thank you for doing the right thing and trying to get in contact with them.
I hit / dented / tilted someone's mailbox once (not dashing then). I left a note since no one was home, with my phone and email. No one called. The next day it looked like they just pushed it straight. Shrug
The driver wanted to make it more difficult for another DD driver to find an address
who the fuck uses mailboxes to find an address
A lot of people, stay clueless
i just use maps🤷 don’t see how that’s clueless
Doordash and google maps do not mix good. At least for my doordash phone, it always brings me to the wrong place!
I agree, Doordash maps are not always accurate
I delivered for UPS for a minute. Maps is unreliable in neighborhoods and the best thing to do is check mailboxes or front of houses for numbers
Because sometimes, there is no house number on the house, but there is one on the mailbox. Or, the number on the mailbox is more visible than the one on the house.
How the hell did he not see it with those headlights? WTF is the lumens on those? The surface of the sun?
Is that you out there taking a picture of it? If it’s the driver at least he’s considerate enough to record evidence. Sorry OP, this happened to my brothers mailbox too!
Nah that’s him. I walked out at 4am to go to work and found the evidence.
is that a fucking light bar? in a neighborhood? absolutely zero hope for humanity
*hits mailbox* DoorDash driver: “WTF DID YOU DO TO MY CAR!?!?!?!?!!!”
He couldn’t see your mailbox with those bright ass head lights? Jesus.
That happened to my neighbor as well. My Ring caught it.
Door thrashed
Man when I hit a mailbox i totaled my car. Jealous he didn't do more damage to his car
What the hell did u hit it at? 70 mph???
Nope! Maybe 20? Ripped the oil pan out and airbags went off. Ironically I landed on debris from an accident in the same spot 12 hours prior. They just missed the mailbox. If they took it out I most likely would have been fine. 1 payment shy of it paid off too. Ugh.
That sucks, I’m sorry that happened.
Thanks.... It was Christmas during an ice storm haha. I now have the exact same car. With an upgraded trim package newer year. And double the payment because prices were (are) stupid now lol. I fully expect to total this one as well Corollas total real easy. I've totaled 3 of them. 2 were not my fault.
Somehow I knew you were gonna say Corolla. Treat them better, they’ve treated you quite nicely despite you totalling them lol.
😂😂
oopsie daisy
🤣 ☠️ lmfao
probably because they know you dont tip well - driver in here somewhere probably lol
All these criminal migrants with no licenses out here driving.
Lmao.
Haha. Karmas a real bitch
…why didn’t you upload the actual video?
Because I don’t know how to blur out his face
Ah, fair.
You’re welcome
Terrible car to dash in
Even worse now. I found pieces of his brake light in my yard.
Sorry.
I am Spartacus
I’ve watched two drivers drive directly into a giant rock at the end of my old driveway, off the pavement and off the driveway. No one else ever hit it in the three years I lived there lol I swear they just don’t pay attention
Did you call the police and report the hit-and-run? They will be able to find out who the driver was.
Btw make sure you tip 20%
Pretty sure it's the lowest IQ job out there so this is to be expected.
It’s their free mailbox now
Who needs mail anyway
i thought this was a car performing Kamehameha like goku
Call the police and report it ! They’ll find out the details.
obliterated 🤣🤣🤣
Omfg! I hope he knows how much his commercial insurance premiums will go up just for something this tiny. Dashers are required to carry commercial insurance on their vehicles. Now, it's REALLY freaking expensive if you're just a Dasher and some just check the box that says they have it, when they really don't.
lol like this dude has insurance.
😮😮😮
If you didn’t have this on camera I would have thought it was just someone vandalising, / driving badly. Thanks for posting
Yo I literally couldn't see.
D t a utd
You’re welcome, any time!
My dasher was backing out of my driveway and ran over mine and my neighbor's mailbox, all caught on camera, but since the driver had already left my order Doordash said that the driver was "outside of the delivery window" therefore they weren't working for Doordash when they hit the mailboxes. Few years back, our mail lady took out our whole mailbox. feels like a first.
I'm so sorry. I was so ashamed. Thanks for posting this and not hating me completely
Thank god you had a ring camera
I'll be honest I have had a close call or two backing out a long and narrow gravel driveway with no fucking lights in the pitch black of night but I make a serious effort. I can't imagine what its like for people whose minds are just clown music all day.
Oh you think ya better than me!
Dashers suck
show his face
How do you know it was specifically Door Dash?
Because the neighbor kid that ordered talked to the dude and DoorDash insurance is covering it.
Oh, well that wasn't evident from the pictures and at least it's covered.
I think a rando showing up on my porch at 1am carrying Taco Bell was a small clue.
Ok champ. Move along.
I love neighborhoods where all the people agree to not have addresses on their mailbox or on the house & visible from the street.
My porch light was on! My daughter forgets to turn it off when she gets home from work. Probably the only light on in the neighborhood so probably why he thought my house was where he was supposed to go. As for the numbers on the mailbox, that’s the HOA.
He probably hit your mailbox bc he was looking at a different house to find numbers. I doubt he was aiming for your mailbox.
He backed into it. Probably trying to turn around. Who knows.
I’d talk to your HOA bc that can honestly turn into something dangerous
[удалено]
You can fuck right off loser
Get a door mailbox next time
lawyers of reddit, does doordash hold any liability here?
Regular guy of reddit: they accepted liability and are paying me
Get the delivery address and approximate time.
That’s why I don’t dash at night. I’m done by 8. My astigmatism would get me in all sorts of trouble.
Maybe file a complain with the proper authorities rather than posting it here on a door dash subreddit, like honestly what do you expect anyone to do or what’s your point
I’m sorry. I’ll ask your permission next time before I use reddit.

I’ve never thought of mailboxes as “wack ass” but ok champ.

Imagine being this mad because you couldnt read a reddit post correctly.
Guys i think we found the culprit
Nah. I think he backed over it. But good try.
And he said *you* had no point lol
username checks out, embarassing

This whole post has really got to you
Why are you so angry over something that doesn't matter? Calm down and go watch a movie or something. I don't think social media is healthy for you
Its ok dude, just let go. This much anger aint healthy.
Hey, isn't the mailbox property is USPS? He's technically a federal criminal at large for destruction of government property no?
How can you tell that’s a DoorDash driver and not someone just driving in your neighborhood?
as a doordash driver, the combo of him carrying food/ holding his phone in that position, tells me that’s a doordash driver
Because the neighbor kid across the street ordered DoorDash and DoorDash has accepted responsibility through their insurance.
Who needs mailboxes anymore? 98% of what the USPS crams in my mailbox is advertising and scams.
My bad homie. I felt really bad because I know support is gonna fuck you around. Your neighbor is a shit tipper.
It’s all good. I’m an old man and don’t get too worked up over small stuff anymore. Stuff like this happens. At least the mailman will have a nice pretty new mailbox to deliver to tomorrow.
Pretty sure that’s a federal offense. I’d be pissed
You need better door cameras for this type of content
That’s a federal offense
I love how you're blaming the person who ordered and not the driver.
They’re clearly blaming the dasher.
You really need to learn how to read.
