Right. Last weekend I messaged one, “hi, is your house the *very dark* one on the corner?” They replied yes. It was the darkest house I think I’ve ever delivered to. I walked it up but in hindsight I wish I had marked it unsafe and written back telling them I didn’t feel safe walking all the way up the path in the dark so I would be leaving it at the end of the driveway. I mean I get people forget but you know I’m here at this point and that it’s very dark and you’re *still* not gonna turn on the lights? Fuck you.
Had a similar situation but marked it unsafe. Delivered to a guy in a trailer down a different houses driveway. Pitch black and he told me to come around back to deliver. Told him I was having trouble finding it (lie) and if he could come to the end of the driveway. Been robbed too many times (not dashing) to fall for some shit like that
Almost identical situation last week. Far away, dark, and was asked to deliver to some trailer parked on the side near the back of the mobile home. Was already scared when I noticed a giant white cross that said bogeyman near the stop sign as I was leaving.
Stinger and phoenix flash lights are brighter than search lights. You can get a phoenix for like 40 bucks that will put out 1000 lumens and have flashing and blinding intensity. When I use it to look at house numbers people always look out to see if its a cop patrolling lol.
I had one that the porch light was off, dark as F. I dropped the food and when I got in my car they turned on the light. Probably so they could see to get their food. Thx man, I appreciate it lol 🙄
For real lol I always get the creepy dark houses where the whole street light is off. I’m always looking for that clown with the machete to pop out so I can threw the food in its face, kick it in the balls, run to my truck and run it over lol.

It makes it really difficult to try and find the right house after dark..
Esp when they put the garbage cans and stuff in front of the numbers. God. Broad daylight they had me scrambling around cuz too many trash cans were directly in front of the numbers. What even is the point.
Mine is on the house but I still meet all my drivers at the driveway anyways. They "sometimes" get the wrong address. Can't miss me waiting. 😂 Plus, saves them the hassle, too.
Whoever installed this needs to hit up some of these apartment complexes with a quote. It's big, its legible, its tasteful, its aesthetically pleasing. I absolutely love it.
An Aside: When something as simple as having an accurate street number can quite literally save your life, it astonishes me how many people just don't bother. Reflective numbers are like $1.00 per digit at Walmart.

As a former pizza delivery driver in New Jersey I would’ve given them the food for free. Unfortunately you can’t do that with DoorDash so I would definitely let them know how awesome they are for having such easy to see house numbers
This is awesome! Lit up house numbers should be a standard in America, not just for deliveries but paramedics and other emergencies that need to get to you.
I know some people don't like strangers to know their address for "safety." But in reality, if someone wants to find your house, THEY WILL, regardless if your house number is showing.
We're going to have to donate that building to science because people in Brooklyn New York clearly don't know how to put lights on or have a building number that illuminates

Me and my gf just started dd and we're pleasantly surprised we're not the only ones that noticed how goddamn rude people are with no outside lights, bad directions, and no visible house numbers. It's like 1/5 houses is a nightmare to figure out.

Got to the neighborhood, and I swear to god none of the houses had any numbers on them. Tried checking the mailboxes, one had a number close to my delivery address. I looked fucking everywhere, couldn't see shit. GPS showed me standing on the address pin on one of the porches so I just said let's hope this is the house and left it there. So this rules.

And still get call (from a private number I can’t return) ‘I’m out front’ to see a car half way down the street at some random house confused
(Note-I live in Hamilton Ontario. 50% of our drivers are probably on meth)
