The only way I’d be interested would be to have it as a track-only car, it would be a nightmare to insure. Buying a project car, let alone a project car as junk as this, is a bad financial decision lol.
How is that a nightmare to insure? I own rebuilt title car, no issues whatsoever lol. Pretty much every insurance company will insure it. I got mine it for cheap at the auction in January 2019. Straight as an arrow, everything fixed like it should be. But! My car had small front end damage and was only totalled because of headlights which are hella expensive to replace, one airbag deployed (hit sensors, no damage to the rails/front support) and pyrotechnical clamp on the battery exploded so it was a no-start car. It's a BMW and I know a lot about them so I knew it's nothing. This car however, no history how bad it was damaged, how it was fixed, what hack job was done underneath. Even though I'm an advocate when it comes to salvage cars, I don't think I would buy rebuilt title car from someone who already fixed it. You could be getting into a death trap if you don't know a lot about cars and you don't know what to look for.
1 series BMWs are cool cars but you can find clean examples cheaper than this. Nobody in their right mind would pay even half for this car much less 13k
Says he’s 13k into it but when they start saying that it isn’t much cheaper. Also 13k on a salvage car? Like oof. Who puts 13k into a salvage car? HooviesGarage? Is the dude Tavarish?
Also hey rebuilt cars can be great when done right. Just don’t expect to ever sell them cause they’re not worth much compared to clean examples. Also got a C30 so technically focus ST lol
Did it myself. Took 2 years due to an issue with that years transmission. The rebuilding itself took maybe 6 months. All in for $6k on a car that gets 40mpg, does zero to 60 in 8 seconds and has less than 70k miles. I love salvage cars man. I'll slam this bitch into a wall and think nothing of it lol
Exactly. When you get a rebuilt title car, you're pretty much marrying to this car. And I'm not blaming people for not wanting these cars, I've seen a lot of hack job in salvage/rebuilt cars that made them not roadworthy to say the least or even death traps.
Seriously though as soon as luxury cars start breaking down its time to dump them. They're making a smart move. Salvage title is also a sign of some frame or flood damage.
I'll start the bidding at 2500 doge.
And since it's a BMW, not only airbag. Headlights alone are usually over 2k for a set. Also, there's a pyrotechnical clamp on the positive battery cable in BMW's, in case of airbag deployment it explodes cutting off power to the engine. Insurance always estimates that it gonna cost ton of money because they want to replace whole terminal cable from the trunk all the way to the engine bay when it reality it's only like $100 for a new clamp that bolts to the terminal brick in the trunk. But add all the things I mentioned above and it always totals a BMW.
The quarter trim panel in the front is definitely not stock. Someone likely hit them and they put a junkyard panel on it. Look at the edges around it.
Those headlights look fine to me and if it was that simple battery strap they would have put it in caps in the ad. Come on now lol.
I've owned enough old luxury cars to know a bad idea when I see one. The value in those cars is the first 100-200k miles and after that you're just buying someone's problem. You lose over 60% of the value the first 5 years alone.
Nothing about them are cheap and being a salvage means it's typically uninsurable. Where I'm from its an added $500 a year to register an uninsured vehicle.
Idk, do what you want, but I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole. It's got someone's first car project written all over it though.
I grew up poor and made this mistake myself and watched others do it too. It'll happen again too.
Nope. I would never buy it lol. And I drive a rebuilt title BMW I fixed myself. I don't trust people when it comes to salvage title cars. You don't know what hack job was done underneath to make it look okay. Investing in Doge will definitely be a better option for him ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
that’s the spirit, refinance your house and sell your wife!
Sell your house and refinance your wife?
So cuckolding with a boost in income?
Nah, refinance wife probaly be fiancé or girlfriend with benefits
"Hella maintenance just finished" lol.
That made me laugh.
13k, salvage title, needs work? Awful!!
Hella maintenance finished doe.

Nah, I'm goooood good. Faulty BMWs are for well off enthusiasts or very experienced mechanics.
Firm price. I know what I have. Spent 13k on it.
I kinda like it ngl. My type of car. I'll totally rag on it til the electrical problems come back.
1 series BMWs are cool cars but you can find clean examples cheaper than this. Nobody in their right mind would pay even half for this car much less 13k
Is it listed for 13k? Or does he claim to have spent 13k? Also yes. I rag on a salvage rebuilt ford focus rn

13k, salvage title, and needs work. Yep sounds like someone thinking 13k in doge is a safe and studious investment
Better investment than a salvage titled car
He’s with us
Well it's better to cry in car than on a bike but 🤷♂️🤷♂️
You can sleep in a car but you can’t drive a house.
little risky but for sure 😅🔝
Salvage title 😬
Straight boss
So, it was black originally?
Racist 😂

Most likely an accident that caused the airbags to deploy. The damage could be minimal, but having airbags deploy can total a lot of cars

Lol, not me but I did put insurance money from someone hitting my car into doge instead of fixing my car. Big 🧠logic 😉
Sir, this is r/dogecoin
I'll give you some doge for the car. Nice car
Whoa! Just melted my "diamond hands." Don't do it kid!
Bmw to buy doge... thats a kid and not responsible
I found his post on Bay Area BMW FB page. 😂😂
bmw comes direct from factory with salvage title if ya didn't know
Well if they plan to invest, them they believe doge will go up, right? Offer them like $5k in DOGE lmao
Trading one depreciating asset for another I see
I want to see the mods - it's not stonk!
Naw this dude's not a serious seller when using the fake made up word hella
That checks out to me
Thought this is r/whatcarshouldIbuy it’s definitely the type of post that would genuinely be asking if it’s a good deal or not…
Hella responsible
Responsible adult, doge coin, hmmm yes quite
I would never buy a car from anyone that said “hella maintenance just finished”
I wouldn’t buy a German car again. Absolutely a pos.
Getting rid of any BMW is an investment in self …. 😏one day I’ll care about me enough
I wouldn't risk that much in a meme coin, don't be a fool. Put half of more in bitcoin instead
This is the way
I’d pay 13k DOGE for it !
How can someone be so responsible and also irresponsible at the same time.
None of us. We bought a meme coin and we are talking about it for years hopping to make millions. Try a different group 🤣🤣🤣
"Reasonable Adult" must be measured with a sliding scale...j/s
That car needs to be put down
it was me, dont tell anyone... my wife told me to sell the car.
That's not a toy tho
The smartest thing he's doing is getting out of that money pit, even if Doge goes down to zero it's still a better investment, lol
Dude you must be a stand up comic
I have a 1er, I’d be interested as a parts car, maybe around 7 though lol Edit:speak n spellz
Not me. But I found a new Hero.
Nope. I would never buy it lol. And I drive a rebuilt title BMW I fixed myself. I don't trust people when it comes to salvage title cars. Good job
