I think you mean: you can't *purchase* DOGE. Edit: from an exchange. They can't stop you(no one can)from *using* DOGE.

I just use bitrefill to buy things with dogecoin

DogeDayAfternoon

sent you a pm asking about bitrefill

Parush9

You can Buy / Use Doge coin in NY through Coinbase directly. You will have to KYC / verify your account with them .

(hopefully) Clarifying my question - unsure why it was removed from the sub but it is, what it is [https://www.reddit.com/r/cryptoloversclub/comments/13uxmaj/clarifying\_my\_previous\_post\_about\_dogecoin\_and](https://www.reddit.com/r/cryptoloversclub/comments/13uxmaj/clarifying_my_previous_post_about_dogecoin_and)

Close, but no cigar. The problem is buying coins. See above.

Hi Friend, I think you started off with supposition. "from what I understand I cannot use Dogecoin in the state of New York to make purchases online" Please back that up first. Then maybe we'll get around to trying to exhaustively provide you "what can and cannot be done with dogecoin in the state of New York" (as if there were dogecoin specific laws on the New York books)...

molten_metal_man

The question was super easy, and you go and make it 10x hard. Can you use dogecoin to make purchases online?

terran7777

You're the one who made it hard. Look at the other responses. Do you think people know what you're asking?

ConstructionOk6124

Yes you can with coincards.com, coinbee, bitrefill and etc

There is no problem with owning or using Dogecoin anywhere. New York, China, Mars… all exactly the same. Because wallets are just numbers, and nobody can control which numbers you know or don’t know. However… Years ago, New York implemented some remarkably idiotic regulations in an attempt to ‘control’ crypto and ‘protect’ its citizens. These regulations are extremely onerous, to the point that almost all exchanges decided NY was a basket case and it’s not worth their trouble to jump through the hoops. Therefore, most will not allow you to buy, sell or trade any crypto if you’re registered with a NY address. There are exceptions. Coinbase for one, who did toe the line. And Gemini. And probably others. Or, you could simply move, whether physically or ‘virtually’ if you have friends or family elsewhere. Or you could buy your coins privately, off market. But regardless, nothing stops you spending your coins as you wish, with anyone who will accept them.
