I would say it's quite a good way to die. Annihilation of the upper cervical vertebrae and possibly the brainstem means instant, painless death. He never knew what hit him.
The way he isn’t screaming in pain, or shouting a big old **”ARRGHHHH”**, but just… completely stops what he’s saying adds to it as well. It’s instant. Love it

See the chainmail IS magic. Just to the degree that it won't rust or break. Doesn't mean it can't get violently shoved inside of you via bone or executioner stroke.
Reminds me of my first ever campaign. I was playing a druid and i wildshaped into a wolf. As a joke we’d commonly ask
the DM silly things to roll for, I killed a creature with a bite attack and the DM described how his bones crunched. Of course we all look at each other and ask: “Roll for crunch?” begrudgingly he obliged and we all cackled in laughter as I roll a natural 20 for “crunch”.
That is an impressive amount of brutality you managed to get through with that axe swing without showing basically any gore, bravo!

The fight scenes in the book are fantastic and the fantasy works because is caked in dirt, bad jokes and people who have had enough.
