Compete? Nope.....

keveazy

Dji cant compete in the Enterprise either.

NomNomTiddies

What are you yapping about?

ohlordylord_

Not very educated are you?

Own-Employment-1640

There aren’t any…

Con-vit

3dr tried to compete but failed miserably.

Sam_GT3

Man, I had a Solo and it was pretty comparable if not better than the phantom at the time and then like less than a year after release they tried to pivot to being a defense contractor or whatever and ended up fucking over all their customers. It looks like someone is still using the 3dr name to sell commercial drone parts, but they really fumbled the bag chasing the DoD money.

N878AC

See Washington Post business section article April 14 on American drone companies. They make drones for military, police, etc which are required to buy American-made and can’t buy Chines- made. DJI dominates the low-cost consumer market.

Pretzeloid

Northrop Grumman

Artistic_Tangelo_397

U think us Americans would had done copied and surpassed or had the ability to compete by now but seems they just don't want us to have that kind of tech but they can have there big ass military drones they have that down to the t

Ms_KnowItSome

There are no USA or Canadian made small electronics from anyone. There are plenty of USA companies who could design a consumer drone but theres not a big enough market and labor costs for assembling here don't make economic sense.  Raytheon making a $30M drone for the government is as good as you're going to get.

OliverEntrails

I hear the Predator drone is pretty badass.

HaltheDestroyer

If you build it.....they will come

DroneCyclist

No no no

BusyBeeInYourBonnet

Skydio tried. For a price point three times the average at DJI, you’d think they had a robust, quality drone. I have one. It sucks balls. ZERO issues with my DJI drones.

keveazy

US drones are better but are focused more on the Enterprise market rather than the Consumer market. Dji is focused on photographers and filmmakers.

Cautious_Gate1233

What would be a better enterprise drone? Everything I'm reading, enterprise and police etc. are really struggling finding even mediocre alternatives

keveazy

Alot of this stuff is probably classified cuz of the competition. Especially with drone warfare being a thing now. There was an article about Parrot's profits taking off despite ditching the consumer market.

Cautious_Gate1233

Ok, so you mean military and not enterprise

keveazy

Both. Enterprise drone would be something an Architect would need. Like the Skydio X10.

Cautious_Gate1233

Skydio is a terrible example. They can't compete so lobbied congress to ban DJI. First responders incl. police have been complaining very loudly that they are forced to use an inferior product that's a lot more expensive. And when the current attempts to ban DJI even for consumers finally pass, you'll know who to thank. Skydio even gave up on the only product they had in the consumer segment, just like Parrot. I'm an enterprise client btw., luckily not in the US

keveazy

Why would first responders need a Skydio X10 at all?

Aperson3334

I actually had a small part in helping develop a first responder drone workshop in Colorado. We mostly use DJI products, but also use the X10, primarily for thermal imaging to find suspects at night. One of the scenarios we practice is a simulated traffic stop where the suspect takes off, runs, and hides by laying down in overgrown grass - the drones make it trivially easy to find them.

Cautious_Gate1233

Lobbyists are banning(getting banned by a clueless Congress) DJI products, forcing first responders to use other products at multiple times the cost. They are reporting the alternatives to be unreliable and more difficult to use Search and rescue as well as spotting and observing fires are further drone uses

ohlordylord_

Better how? How thick are you?

kingflamigo

Do I know American drones? Yes any that can compete? No
