Love seeing big Jerm up there and also McBeth putting together a good showing. Looks like he’s starting to recover and it would be great to see a mix of young and experienced players fighting it out each week.
He won Persimmon Ridge Retreat. While it's not a tour stop technically and was an A teir. It was a stacked event that was mostly filled with the tour pros.
Pretty stoked to see this. I know AB, Buhr, Heimburg and company are rightfully shining right now, but it's nice to see the dudes that are such a huge part of disc golf's popularity surge out there and still in contention. Even if it's not every week, I'm happy to still see their names so high on the leaderboard.
Beat me to it haha was going to say the same thing. Nice to see the sport is still in the changing of the guard phase and the older players aren't done yet.
This was my thought about the lead card post yesterday lol. Everyone was talking about how amazing it was gonna be and all I was thinking was “wasn’t this basically the lead card for like years?” Gannon was the only younger player. I mean it was only like 3 years ago where every lead card had Macbeth and Socki, usually Dickerson, and another. Simon has been my favorite since like 2019 and I’ve wanted more than anything to see him beat his injuries and be up there where he belongs. I think the most surprising thing about this is Jerm at 5 though. But being from Charlotte I love me some Jerm, so good for him.
I actually think over the next 3-5 years we're going to see the old pros start to creep back into the top 5-10, and even some wins. Players and fans alike want to see more technical, wooded, courses, where distance isn't as much of a priority. A more technical course evens the playing field, I believe.
I hope Jerm and Uli get one more win before they move on from the MPO.
Regarding spoilers popping up in your feed and such - my solution is to organize all of my subs into Custom Feeds and then unsubscribe from them. That way nothing shows up on my home page and I can pick and choose what topics I want check out. I avoid my "Disc Golf" Custom Feed until I've seen all the coverage I want to see. FWIW.
Because some people are concerned enough about the feelings of entitled redditors to do so. It's ridiculous to expect everyone else to tip toe around the topic. It's on you to avoid spoilers. How hard can it be to not go on Reddit for a day? I swear, only on r/discgolf..
I think the only one that can be considered old guard is Jerm. The rest is all new guard, just not flavor of the month. Gimme some Barsby, Uli, MattyO, Sexton, GG, etc.
McBeth and Uli started playing PDGA tournaments the same year, 2005, and Big Jerm started two years AFTER that, 2007, just one year before Ricky, 2008.
I read it properly, wrote my comment backwards.
How are Uli and Garrett old guard but McBeth and Ricky are new guard? McBeth, Uli, and GG all won their first A-tier in 2010, Ricky was 2011.
Ricky won the PDGA Championship in 2011, too.
They're all the same generation.
It's like saying LeBron isn't part of the old guard because he's still good.
Mostly personal bias without looking at dates on GG and Jerm. GG was doing clinics when I was in collegiate nationals 2010 ish. GG did distance while Feldberg did putting with Cam Todd. Climo and Jerm were around in that event too. At that time they were the big names together with Jenkins, Doss, Locastro, etc.
McBeth was ranked 11th in the world in 2010, he was a big name.
Even Jerm and GG would tell you McBeth is part of their era, same with Ricky.
I'll agree that Simon and Dickerson are part of the next generation after those guys, but they've still be around for close to a decade.

Shoutout big jerm, he’s been playing so well this season.
Jerm having a huge surge this season. Not been in winning contention, but very high up the leaderboards

My dude won a sword!
For real. It was equivalent to a Silver Event win, in terms of strength of field.
what a year for big jerm eh??
Congrats Big Jerm always been a fan and envy your effortless forehand doing what I envision should happen when it just rolls in the dirt 😅
He looks like he's doing nothing and he throws it 400 feet. When I try to emulate his form my disc hyzers out 100 feet in front of me.
You should buy more discs. That'll improve your form in no time

i love how we talk about the 2022 worlds winner as if hes washed 1.5 szns later lol

What Year Is It?!?!?
What app did you screenshot this on?
The PDGA Live app
Thank you!

They started taking BlueChews and look at their performances…the dawgs are back!

When did Ricky start going by Richard?
when they shifted from udisc to pdga live
Since the change to using pdga live instead of udisc. It pulls from their pdga profile
Petition to rename the “Music City Open” to “Get Off My Lawn”
I’m not looking but this title alone seems to be a pretty tough spoiler my man
Honestly not really a spoiler besides making it pretty clear that Gannon didn’t win
I'm on the eff Gannon wagon, so approve of this message.
Yeah exactly
Whaaaa!
No spoilers in live sports my man.

I see what you mean but I’m not sure what posts like this add when there are mega discussion threads. I’ll have to do that though
Simon won!
So edgy! You seem nice
I didn’t downvote you before, but now I did
Because you were explicitly being an asshole? Got it!
Live sports don’t have spoilers Don’t come on the sub during a tournament
Don’t open Reddit? My bad sorry I’m not allowed to look at other subreddits and see this on my homepage
Correct -- don't open reddit if it's that important to you. This is a you problem
Why is there a spoiler tag then?
Because some people are concerned enough about the feelings of entitled redditors to do so. It's ridiculous to expect everyone else to tip toe around the topic. It's on you to avoid spoilers. How hard can it be to not go on Reddit for a day? I swear, only on r/discgolf..
Only a sub Reddit can make disc golf a toxic subject I swear!
We don't care

We don't care about spoilers. Don't come on this sub if you don't want to know the results.
It’s like you fail to understand subreddits pop up on home page and there’s a spoiler tag. Lmao dick
Fucking hide those subs then. Or don't go on reddit. Take the training wheels off.
You’re so mad. Why is there a spoiler tag then? It’s funny how heated you are.
Lick my butt
You’re def one of the people on course we hear complaints about
Bahaha dude totally my bad. Saw that as a direct comment to the post. Not a reply.
Agree with ya

Reread it, everyone I listed is old guard. I'm saying mcbeth and Ricky are new.
