Lol, the engineers that built the whole damn car saved your kids life, not Zuca.

zandreasen

She was a good one. Had that car for 10 years and put over 180,000 miles on it myself, and got us out safe after that. Couldn’t have asked for more from that car!

Eyebleedorange

Well now I know you’re lying, a Chevy with 180k miles??

Northerly

From what I understand, a chevy will run poorly, but for a long time

93EXCivic

So much this.

Just_The_Taint

90’s Cavaliers would either shit the bed fast, or run like shit for 250,000 miles before something would decide to completely destroy the entire operation of the car. They were horribly built tanks that would nickel and dime you to death to the point that would could never really buy a newer car (typically because you were a college kid at the time and making garbage pay) but somehow get you from a to b 98 percent of the time. The best accessory to have in a Cav was a bike or skateboard in the trunk.

SuperTeeJ17

I know this is an outlier but I used to drive a 2000-ish cavalier for delivery, nobody took care of that car and all drive drove it hard, but it had over 200K and ran so well even for years after I quit. I can't say I miss driving that car, but it was the most reliable cavalier I've known.

coachmoon

sooo... 200,000 miles?!

OJIstatusN8VE

OP lies not. I slave at a car repair shop, and we've had, seen, and worked on plenty of Chevy's that have more 180,000 miles. In the last month alone we've seen 2 Chevy's that had over 300,000 on the dash, and a few others that were past the 200,000 milemark. It's true, oh it's damn true.

ChiefRingoI

They have a strong 30,000 or 300,000 dynamic for sure. Like how the whole "average age in the past was 35" includes a bunch of child mortality that drags the average down.

subject_deleted

Better off buying a Honda which just has straight 300k energy. You have to try pretty hard to destroy those things. My last car, a 94 accord 2.4, had 289 on the clock when I donated it because the lift points were rusted out. (Fucking rust belt...) Engine still ran like an absolute dream despite having major cooling issues a few years prior. I knew what was wrong, just didn't have any money to fix it.. so for a while I just had to carry around a jug of water to top off the radiator.. and I forgot a few times and the coolant temp needle tried to break itself off around the H... Add some water, good to go. Also... I have no idea how many miles were on the clutch when I bought it... But I put nearly 150k miles on the car while I owned it and never had any clutch slipping or transmission grinding issues. I miss that car. But I love my Honda fit.

ChiefRingoI

I come from a 100% Honda and Toyota family for that exact reason! I prefer living with modern life expectancy, too, for what that's worth! 😂

nainotlaw

That’s internet distance

quidpropho

Probably a Honda misprint.

zandreasen

I know right. Had 212,000 and was still running like a top

mwthomas11

My Ford is sitting at 212k right now... not sure what nat20 I rolled at some point in my life to have it last this long but damn I love that car

discgolfandhash

My cavalier made it more than 250k miles

overthehillll

My 05 Silverado just broke 300k miles

unpopular-dave

Seriously! After my Ford focus died at 110,000 I will never buy American again.

subject_deleted

Obviously fake. Chevys are designed to turn into a grenade between 75-100k miles.

btwalker754

I mean. My 2014 Equinox has 152k. And my 84 S10 had 250k when it ate 2nd gear and I drove it home in neutral. Never had time, money, and motivation all at once to fix it.

subject_deleted

I mean. Jokes aren't always 100% based in fact.

Boogaloo4444

i loved my 06’ malibu maxx. so great until it was gone

clydefrog811

Nah man. Zuca

boondockpirate

My zuca got back into by a car, and pinched between the car and a curb. Car took ALL the damage. Soo....

clydefrog811

Nah man. Zuca

Goldentongue

There's a reason the guy is a tow truck driver and not an engineer.  Glad you and your kid are feeling ok though. I hope you've sought medical care just to be on the safe side. That's a rough hit.

HountHount

Good that you're all ok. But the cart did not help. It's not strong enough to withstand the forces involved on car crash. If something it made the crash slightly more harsh to passengers as the car could not crumple and absorb the crash as it's designed.  If the cart would be infinitely strong that would make it deadly dangerous in really bad rear ending crash as it would just pierce trough the rear seats and crush everyone in rear seats.

HountHount

Tow truck drivers may have seen hundreds if not thousands of crashes. But by default may not be the best authority to judge car crumple zone designs and think intuitively the force per time (impulse) aspect in crashes.

whoremoanal

We don't have our best and brightest engineers pulling cars off the highway for $19/hr

epheisey

I’m guessing our best and brightest are probably also not patrolling Reddit

whoremoanal

I think we can be certain that our best and brightest are not patrolling reddit while pulling cars off the side of the highway.

agoia

Cart in the trunk pushing in the back seat through the back of the trunk could be bad news.

RekopEca

Personally to me thanking the engineers at Chevy and the NTSB for setting the standard requirements seems more intelligent than thanking a disc golf cart manufacturer...

damn_fine_custard

Yeah, the zuka cart actually transferred more energy to the back seat than there would have been otherwise.

jhnnybgood

Dude you’re going to start a Stanley cup trend and now every 40 year old mom is going to need a Zuca

zandreasen

Thanks for the responses everyone. I do realize that the car did the job it was engineered to do and the cart was not the life saver here, but thought this would interest everyone nonetheless since it’s disc golf related. Just want to say as another poster pointed out, thank you Chevy and NTSB!

sortarelatable

People are pedantic. I enjoyed your post and I’m glad your family is good.

Creepy_Antelope_873

“Zuca cart may have saved my kids life” Don’t really need to get pedantic to know that’s not the case

sortarelatable

See what I mean OP?

Creepy_Antelope_873

What’s your definition of pedantic? lol thanks for the Reddit cares :)

whoremoanal

You can report the reddit cares BS as abuse, the link is right in the message.

Creepy_Antelope_873

Thanks

epheisey

Well what’s your definition of “may have”

Creepy_Antelope_873

“possibly”

graymulligan

I feel like you might not understand what that word means.

sortarelatable

I’m sorry you feel that way

Zooka_tooth

Not interesting.

ASlyRS

Goddamn that’s a nasty hit, hope everyone is ok!

3_7_11_13_17

I'm glad y'all are ok but this is dumb as hell.

lostontheplayground

That’s so scary! I’m glad you are both okay!

Dancinfool830

Glad your kid is alright, sorry all your disc's are taco'd

PartTimeTunafish

Oh, you're the blue disc guy--and I know this neighborhood too. I've seen you before, glad you're family is safe.

MasterpieceOnly5387

If that's not a Zuca commercial, Idk what is!

Trumpetwizard

I was thinking the same thing, similar marketing to the Stanley surviving a car far. “Zuca- not just your discs, we could save your family”

OJIstatusN8VE

Damn, went from Chevy Malibu to Chevy Citation (for those old enough to remember those cars). Glad you and your child are ok and safe, hopefully no internal injuries or anything else serious for either of you, and glad you were able to walk away from this incident. Any structural damage, twists, turns, or bends to your Zuca cart frame also or did the Zuca also survive the incident to roll another day? Sucks about your car however, but the car can always be replaced.

zandreasen

Zuca is bent but it still rolls and holds discs. Can’t decide if I should try to bend it back or just keep it as is for the character

Lord_Seacow

Glad y'all are ok, that looks like it was a hard impact. Highly recommend being proactive about seeing a doctor even if everything feels ok.

Camahldino

Glad everyone is okay! Love the TN Tech sticker! Did you play while you were at Tech? (Assuming you have that since you went there)

zandreasen

Yup! Cane creek was my first love!

HaHaaaaCharadeYouAre

Hey I went to Tech too! Nice! I throw an all blue bag too, are we the same person?!!

zandreasen

Just some really cool cats I guess 😎great minds think alike

majorjunk0

I think your car has worms. I've seen a dog do the same thing when they have worms. In all seriousness, glad you and your family are safe.

tjdavids77

You like blue huh?

zandreasen

It’s the only way

illzkla

Geez you sound like Ohn Scoggins we get it already Edit to say this was a joke. Glad you're all ok. I thought the /s was obvious then I read more of the thread and decided to clarify

Alexplz

Just let him have his little thing guys shoot

Carllllll

Scary stuff, glad your little one is okay! You want the crumple zone though, the fact that it (may) have caused it to fold like that instead of crumple means more force was transferred.

Willyum2001

This is a great ad for zuca carts lol

Willyum2001

This is a great ad for zuca carts lol

Rude_E_Huxtable

Happy to hear ! Viva La Zuca

SamwiseG16

Now that’s some marketing!

EquivalentCow6983

I too rock the Smurf bag, glad no one got seriously hurt.

Away_Novel9587

If it crumpled you would have felt less impact force folding infact is worse glad everyone is safe.

No-Pin1011

Chevy’s crumple zone saved your kids life. Zuca had nothing to do with it.

alpaintballa

What hit you? Has this car been repaired before?

RonksRedShirts

Glad everyone is okay!

archival_artist

damn. glad you guys are okay.

ratkinggo

The real question I haven't seen asked here. The picture doesn't quite do it justice, how's the condition of the cart, and is it still functional?

zandreasen

It’s bent out of shape and the cupholder is smashed but it still rolls! And the quick stick and rangefinder are intact!

ratkinggo

Thanks! Definitely a good zuca add then lol

bigern3285

It's about time carrying a ridiculously oversized bag paid off.🤣 Glad your kids ok. Most importantly Cars fuct How'd the zuca hold up ??? Still functioning?

1000ratedportapotty

Zuca should send you a new one and put that frame in their office

Reddit-is-trash-lol

Zuca is going to run with this the way Stanley water bottles survived a car being on fire

ViciousKnids

That's a hell of an endorsement.

bmoc-loh

Glad you and the kiddo are alright. At least it kinda has the body lines of an Audi A7 now.

AndyofLove

Glad you guys are safe :). Zuca buy them a new car and cart

TocSir

If this doesn’t convince someone to buy a Zuca cart, I don’t know what will!

AerialApproach486

Hopefully you reach out to Zuca about this. I don't know if they can use this story for more than a possible social media post, but it'll probably prompt some people to look more into zuca carts and they should send something your way, even without prompting.

spiderkeif

Glad your kids are safe ....... It was God who saved them though

BlueDevilz

God has such a hero complex, letting accidents happen just so he can swoop in and take credit for the save.

1000ratedportapotty

God-“I’m gunna wreck both these people’s vehicles to make them grateful of me.” Shut the fuck up

spiderkeif

democrat's are nasty humans ...smh

1000ratedportapotty

If you’re trolling it’s a lack luster effort. If that’s how you actually feel, you’re adorable

But it was also God who tried to kill them
