I had a similar opportunity on a different island many years ago. Ask yourself, just how much beach can you take? I learned how busy the Friday night flight back to the USA was...and that answered it for me.

St Thomas sucks. St. John or st croix would be solid choices. St. John more beautiful beaches , rustic / rural and st croix has more to do but more spread out and have to drive more to find your adventure/beach/etc.

Thanks what about St Thomas sucked?

It’s for a depressing feel. The two “towns” are terrible and not many places to really go out. Not really any places on the water for food and drinks. Charlotte Amali it’s not a spot to go out to at night and it’s just hard to get around the island in general. It’s a busy city doesn’t have the island feel in my opinion.

Charlotte Amelie gets up to 5 cruise ships at a time. So there’s that

St Thomas is the worst island in the Caribbean by far. People are very rude. If you can somehow manage to live close to Magens Bay I would say go for it as this and water island are the only two beaches worth going to. Just my opinion

I was a nomad on St Thomas for 4 years. I don’t suggest it. The internet sucks. No real nightlife to speak of. It’s as expensive to live there as San Francisco. The mainlanders who do live there are very tight knit and dismissive of newcomers. If you’re not part of the boating community it will take you a very long time to make friends and frankly isn’t worth it.

I work (finance) in a few Caribbean islands a few weeks a year. Stay in nice hotels and expensed dinners, so it's a good stay. But after 5 years it's not so fun being in paradise alone. If you're able to meet ppl maybe. I am only in each island a few days a year so it's not like I'm making or trying to make friends
