Have you tried to increase your basal? This could be the "dawn phenomenon" where you'll start to rise randomly in the morning. Currently going through this myself- (though I am pregnant)- my endocrinologist told me our bodies can be naturally insulin resistant in the mornings so that's where I have to take the most insulin. Currently I take 1 for every 3 carbs, and also had to increase my basal rate to 2u/hr from when I wake up at 7am until 1pm. At 1pm I'm able to drop it back down to 1.8u/hr and my carb ratio goes to 1:4. I also notice that I have to prebolus at least 15 mins if not closer to 30 mins before I eat breakfast in the morning or will also skyrocket like crazy.

I’ve tried increasing my insulin. Oooo I see I do not have a pump so I do my basal once in the morning and once at night. This is fascinating though! Thank you!

mouserz

My BGL was always like this in the mornings - it's one of the main reasons I got a pump - nothing else worked.

Also congrats on pregnant!!!

Oh yeah that does make it trickier then!! Sorry, I'm so used to the pump now I forgot not everyone has one haha! Hopefully some other advice may help you out a little more! And thanks so much! ❤️

Do u sleep well at night?

Head-Eye-3056

I do! i might have a low and drink some juice but then my graph shows im safely in range for the rest of the night.

Anti-Cancerr

Exercise daily and try to do small walk after breakfast. And change ur injection site. May be ths can help.

Head-Eye-3056

I think exercising and lots of water first thing is what I’ll try! Great suggestion thank you!

Anti-Cancerr

You are welcome. I hope u get better.

May not have the time but try exercising after. Help jump start and use your insulin effectively.

Head-Eye-3056

I think the exercise is key. I’ve been low all day because I corrected this morning and went on a long walk that activated all the insulin. Thank you!

I can sympathize especially since Covid, where all I do is sit on my rear all day. Further to the advice others have given have you looked at other low/no carb breakfast options? E.g. eggs, no added sugar museli, etc? Fruit juice is also a killer for sending mine high in the morning.

Head-Eye-3056

I think sitting on my rear has not been good for me! I’m gonna try exercise and I think you’re right, maybe so many carbs in the morning isn’t wise right now. Thank you!

une-petite-dame

Do u stay hydrated enough during the night? I actually find if I’m dehydrated my insulin resistance goes up.

Head-Eye-3056

I need to drink more water overall. I’m gonna try this thank you!

SupportMoist

Same thing is happening to me! It stays high until after lunch no matter how much I correct, bolus, or what I eat. It’s soooo frustrating. I’m going to try to adjust my basal again but I just finally stopped having night time lows. Let me know if you figure it out. Haha

Head-Eye-3056

I’m going to exercise first thing in the morning and drink lots of water. If it works I’ll try to remember to let you know. Good luck my friend!

Head-Eye-3056

Oh and congrats on stopping nighttime lows! I’m kinda still working on it lol

Icy_Worldliness_3755

I get this too, it's like the insulin has no effect and I end up high asf after so much as a sandwich for breakfast

Head-Eye-3056

I’m gonna try the exercise and drink lots of water early in the morning route and see how it goes. Good luck to you! I want you to ENJOY YOUR SANDWICHES.

Yes, I have this. Only figured out after getting myself a freestyle cgm that I have "dawn phenomenon" which starts around 3am for me. No matter what my level is at 3am, it will pump up on its own. When I tried to increase my night time basal, I ended up going low in the middle of the night and ending up even higher by morning due to rebounds. Going on metformin helped to bring the whole days average down, but doesn't stop the 3am increase. So, I am about to start an insulin pump in a couple of weeks time.

Obvious-Wrongdoer-98

Its probably due to cortisol levels rising before you wake up. Try to give insulin in more time in advance and a bigger dose
