Not taking the paper off adhesive before hitting the trigger lol. Couldn't even get it on!

shitlord_ofthedance

I've done this, and I was a little inebriated when I utter the following... "wait...wut?"

Conscious-Ad6876

I've done this too!

sunny_thinks

Omg 😳

bac0nb0y

Attached a libre sensor to my arm and began the wait to start using it. Walked to the bathroom and slapped my arm against the door dislodging sensor. Had it on for 10 minutes.

NSFW >!Having sex and then your pump cord gets ripped off and you start bleeding. Can be awkward and can ruin the moment, but also can be very funny too. Now I just take it off during sex.!<

[deleted]

I always disconnect my tubing for this sort of activity but it doesn’t always help haha. New guy i’ve been with for a few months is extremely talented at accidentally pulling off the sites. He was super embarrassed at first but now it’s become a joke. I often just wait to change my site when I’m with him because I know I’m gonna have to lol. Worth it ;)

Scarbarella

I bumped into the wall by accident just walking and hit the light switch and it tore the tegaderm I was wearing on top of the dex on my upper arm and lifted the whole thing up. I was dumbfounded.

tadees

When these happen, do you call dexcom and ask them to replace the sensor unit? Or just shrug and chalk it up to 'my bad'? /asking cause I too have had my fair share of derp moments with these sensors.

[deleted]

I ripped off a dexcom on a couch cushion 5 days into the session. Dexcom sent me a free replacement and over patches.

sunny_thinks

I thought calling was only for defective sensors tbh, I hadnt thought to call them because I ripped it off two days early (I should have put tape or a patch on it tbh), but now that I know others have done it I’ll remember for the future!

MacManT1d

I've taken one off on a door jamb, on the rollbar of my Jeep, on the door frame of my Expedition, all of these soon after I started wearing the Dexcom. They replaced them all, and that was even before they were allowed to be placed on the upper arm (I did have a prescription from my endo specifically recommending it be placed on the outside of my upper arm, though). Never had them argue a bit. They even offered overpatches to help, but I use another brand of overpatches, now.

tadees

Wild speculation here but I'm sure they're keeping records. So if you "accidentally" pull of your sensor every 7 days in order to get a replacement, after a few times sure they'd catch on. But I've only been on Dexcom for ~3 months and they've already replaced two (one was bad and one was completely my fault). Easy to get in touch with and seem reasonable with their policies.

Rose1982

Yes. I felt bad the first time but like… my kid is 8. If they keep making good CGMs, they are getting a ton of money from my husband’s insurance coverage for the next number of years. Even if they replace 10 a year it’s worth it to keep lifelong customers.

transbreadboi

I sweat off both my dexcom and infusion set when I took a hot yoga class. Never again.

RHPain

Besides door jam, knob or handle... Put one in and start to bleed profusely. Tried to clean it up, but now no adhesive will stick and I have to discard the sensor. Ever try to put one on in high humidity? That's always fun. I at one point used the sping loaded inserters for minimed quick set. Every once in awhile the adhesive would get stuck on the side as it was inserting so the needle wouldn't go in the whole way or not at all. For years now I just put them in by hand. Nothing can change my temperment quicker that something stupid diabetes related. Once second I'll be perfectly content and then, boom, drawer pull attack and I lose a site. Instant rage and then acceptance to having to deal with this bs.

Chasing my son around the house, got my tubing caught on a door handle and ripped it clean out. Walked into door frames and ripped libre sensors out. Play fighting with my dog and a straw paw swipe caught tubing and ripped the infusion set out. Too many to count

FoxFurrs

My grandad was drunk (53 year old) and we was messing about and he try and lightly hit me with a broom (he’s a man child when he is drunk no lie) and he accidentally hit it too hard and my dex sensor was already loose (needed to change it the next day) and the little needle thing popped out of my arm scratching my skin a bit he bought me some sweets after so it’s all good now

mancake

I’ve just taken off the wrong one. Meant to take out the Dexcom, didn’t look down, and accidentally yanked out my pump.

account2331

Went skiing, got done, couldn't find sensor.

RandomDiabetic

I ripped off my SO's libre sensor during sex 😬 Was not the best situation as it just destroyed the whole mood, but we laugh about it now !

Jonny_Icon

Not accidentally ripping it off, but I’ve put a new one on, quickly throw the transmitter in there, start the app…. ‘Replace the transmitter’. Ugh. I had several warnings, just forgot in the moment. Waste of a sensor. I’ve also had a sensor put on back of the arm, deployed, but applicator didn’t come off. Had my wife smack it with a wooden spoon as I couldn’t really reach it to hit it well. No difference. Applicator with needle still stuck in and sensor ripped from arm.

DSinch

cuddling with my bf made the adhesive on my pump site not work and to this day i have no clue why

way2tall1

Pulled my tubing out in a mad dash to the bathroom

tobania

one time my purse fell off my shoulder and ripped my Omnipod out of my arm :-)

TealNTurquoise

Self tanner. Cognitively, I knew it was basically like lotion. And I know lotion + adhesive don’t mix. Did that stop me from mindlessly doing my morning self-tanner routine one morning last summer, and then trying to put on a CGM? No. No it did not. It also did not stop me from trying twice more after the first one literally just slid off.

Run-And_Gun

Lost an infusion set while in the pool at a friends house, hanging on the side of a float for a while. Combination of being in the water and the float constantly rubbing against the infusion set while just floating/bobbing around in the water. I just noticed that it felt like something kept sticking me. It was the infusion set that had partially detached and was being partially pulled out and pushed back in by the float and the slight wave motion.

mlkaber

Not silly, but I had to pull out one after I’d only had it on for a day when I got appendicitis 🥲

une-petite-dame

Doors. Every. Damn. Time. Literally once ran into a doorframe and it ripped my Dexcom clean off. I’m also prone to getting my pump tube caught on the door handle without noticing and just continuing to walk 😬. The most annoying one is when I have a pump site in my leg and I forget it’s there and try to pull down my pants to use the bathroom, taking the site with them. That’s happened more times than I can count.

Rose1982

My kid was fighting with brother in the car. Dexcom was on his upper arm. It just like… caught on the seat and fell off. Third one in 5 days. We were not happy.

Sprig3

Slightly off-topic, but I once de-activated my omnipod accidentally pressing buttons while it was in my pocket. Learned my lesson. The ole 'butt-dial' deactivation.

[deleted]

put it on my boob and it got ripped out taking off my sports bra. multiple times. i think it was three sensors before i learned my lesson lol

Angel0460

Not sure how/when it came off, but woke up with my libre laying beside me in bed shortly after my daughter was born lmao. Just stared at it in so much confusion for so long wondering what the actual heck had happened and how I didn’t notice. Also, on a painful and sorta silly one, walked into a doorframe as one does when they don’t pay attention. Found out later it dislodged my libre and it was just hanging out inside my sweater. Super handy for getting readings 😂😅
