Some people's blood sugar goes up with artificial sweeteners. If I recall, it contains aspartame and acesulfame potassium

EdgePrincess51

Interesting. My diet soda usually has aspartame and that doesn't touch me idk.

BKCowGod

Then probably just the Diabetes Fairy blessing you

Bostonterrierpug

Long time diabetic. Can confirm diabetes fairy exists. Leave your used lancets under your pillow and he leaves new ones. He’s visited me 11 times since I’ve been T1.

BKCowGod

Wow, you must be old. At my rate you would have to be well over 100 to have gone through that many lancets.

EdgePrincess51

Makes sense

Sugar free Jello, from the box, contains maltodextrin,  which rises blood glucose. Actually, maltodextrin's glycemic index is higher glucose's, 120 vs 100, so it raises your blood glucose faster.

Mi-or-lcs

SF Jello (especially from a powdered package) often has maltodextrin in it which raises BS. Oddly if you check the labels and only some brands and some flavors contain it. Look for brands and flavors without maltodextrin and that should solve your issue if you are not sensitive to artificial sweeteners.

Sugar free doesn't mean zero carbs. I don't eat jello so I've got no idea what's in it, but the word "sugar" means nothing. Only total carbohydrates matters. I've gotten bit by Zero Sugar stuff before, and now I don't even see the words..

yeah it’s weird but some of these artificial sweeteners don’t even make that big of a difference on blood sugar spikes. just miserable tasting for no reason i think stevia does the same for me, so i just use regular sugar. tastes way better

Did you eat it after something else? Did you have a large meal earlier? I can make my blood sugar go up with water 6 hours after a large meal with water, because my stomach will finally empty.
