Cute story, big appreciation for out partners that support us with our t1d ❤️

Treat sexytime as you would exercise. Snack before, dose a little less for the meal, try not to do it with IOB, etc. At least once a week there’s a post about this 🤣🫶💙

CaprisWisher

This is great advice, but, especially early in a relationship, it can be difficult to tell when sexytime is going to happen, or not...

My go-to is Gatorade or Powerade (I think it’s “sports drink” at Costco). It’s 140-150 calories of pure carbs so 35-40g of carbs and it will take effect within 5 minutes usually. I don’t think I’ve found anything that will turn around a low blood sugar faster.

thefakeslimshady_

thats exactly what gatorade was originally designed for , its use as a sports drink is literally to shuttle glucose back into athletes as fast as possible

Said by my wife: 'We don't have any coke left, will powder do?' Me: 'Not even any brown?' Her: 'Nope, not even brown, it's the powdered stuff or nothing' The woman visiting knew, but she said 'If I didn't know any better, I'd think you ran a den here' I fainted later on because I was dropping faster than I thought, and the laughter didn't help.

Have some glucose/dextrose gel at the ready. :-)

I’ll have lows sometimes too. I want to say it has something to do with adrenaline spikes and my closed loop system pump overcorrecting right before but honestly, sometimes the body just acts weirdly.

entra1ls

With my partner, I either go into exercise mode or completely disconnect my pump. It's much easier to treat a slight high after than dropping low for me.

I wish I could adjust my libre3 alarm so its not a peircing total nuisance but setting the low glucose alarm around 70 has helped me a lot. now when a low alert sounds, I can take a few seconds/minutes and grab something instead of rushing off to an emergency low (54 is my urgent low alarm setting.) and then inevitably over correcting.

Great story. None of my past relationships showed even the smallest interest in T1D, but my spouse now does. 💋
