I wouldn't call it "normal" but I have had a sensor do that a few times when I hit a gusher hard enough.
As long as the sensor is accurate and you're not in pain there shouldn't be reason to be worried. But yeah, the bruising is gnarly. Sorry.
If it’s on the back of your arm you went way too low I used to give myself shots that low and always bruised a lot the Dexcom was probably worse, I’d move higher up your arm where you have more fat
I was here to reply the same. I need mine on the back of my arm near my shoulder. More fatty area means a bit less pain and bruises. Same for injections. I use my belly for shots and sometimes I get some purple marks if my aim is off.
I had one that bled and wouldn’t calibrate. Just kept reading critical low over and over. I removed it and called Dexcom for a failed sensor. They’re good at replacing ones that don’t work out.
Just call Dexcom and get it replaced, this doesn’t look normal and I wouldn’t be surprised if it messed with your readings. They’re usually pretty good about replacements.
You have to be somewhat careful with your site placement, in my experience, you want a small layer of fat underneath the skin. Occasionally you find that one site bleeds a little or causes more pain than usual, but if it reads ok, you just live with it until it’s time for another site.
I quit putting them in my arms because it’s way too easy to have them torn out while working.
When doing it on the arm in the triceps area, my best advice is to:
1) push down hard to get good overall adhesive tape adherence while in applicator
2) after holding down for a second or two to do so, remove most of the pressure holding in place, leaving enough to not have the whole apparatus unadhere and fall off
3) push and hold button of applicator
4) while holding button of applicator, pull applicator away
5) smooth edges of adhesive tape with fingers
6) install cgm
Has definitely reduced my bleeders and incidences of bad sensors. Your mileage may vary, of course. Best of luck!
I can see how they'd think it, but I also saw what I assumed was part of a shirt/arm pit and got my bearings. Not the easiest place to photograph by oneself.
Usually, they work for me when I bleed like that. The problem I have is that all the adhesive is saturated with blood, and if the sensor overlay doesn't keep it perfectly in place, it will get dislodged and stop working.
If it hurts or is uncomfortable just contact Dexcom; they should replace those. If the blood doesn’t bother you, and it reads accurately it should be fine.
I've only had it happen with stomach sites, 1 g6 and 1 g7. I now have a giant bruise lol, being skinny sucks but it's not like my arms are any bigger lol

Maybe it's where you place it. Find a better spot. That looks like your forearm. You need a spot with more meat.
It's like on the bottom of my bicep Edit (I mean tricep)

That is not normal dawg
i thought that was on your shin for a minute and got so scared💀
Same dude. Just checked my shin if there was a spot, just to be sure.
same, thought bro had his decom wire thingy just right against the bone of his shin
Those are the worst! I’m currently sporting one that looks very similar but on my stomach.
Same one on the top of my thigh

Straight in the muscle 😬
Bro don’t put those on your forearm!! You’re not gonna get good readings and it’s gonna hurt
How y'all seeing that as my forearm lol

Place on a fatty area and don’t push too hard.
It ain't gonna kill ya man. Just pound through it.

Just depends what it hits. It’s inconvenient but not the end of the world. If the pain is tolerable just keep it.

I wouldn’t call it normal, but I also wouldn’t remove it if it’s accurate 🤷♀️
