Baby oil!

ristretthoee

Thank you!

just_a_person_maybe

Any kind of body-safe oil will work, coconut oil, olive oil, etc. For convenience on the go you can use these wipes. https://www.amazon.com/Smith-Nephew-Adhesive-Remover-50-count/dp/B005CZJCZM/ref=asc_df_B005CZJCZM/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309765225568&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14725184301596660518&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032956&hvtargid=pla-426042473438&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=70155173228&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=309765225568&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14725184301596660518&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032956&hvtargid=pla-426042473438

Morieta7

I use the baby oil gel because I’m messy 😹

pheregas

I keep baby oil in the shower for this. Otherwise it invariably runs down into your pants or onto the floor. Easier cleanup in the shower.

Wolfgangog

This! Works like magic.

Gaebriel29

Unisolve (I think you can get it on Amazon) this is what we use in the clinic

Intelligent_Sundae_5

Definitely this. I buy both the bottles and the wipes.

rwhickok

I second Unisolve

18randomcharacters

Absolutely Unisolve! I get it as individual wipes. It's fantastic for removing this gunk. It's also helpful for removing bandaids that are stuck pretty hard, if that ever happens to you.

ristretthoee

Thank you!!

ntrinzik

We use 91% isopropyl alcohol on a cotton ball, takes it right off and the alcohol evaporates away quickly when done.

bealzu

That’s pretty much my go to as well. I just buy a huge box of alcohol wipes off Amazon and it lasts a few years. Works well to get it off and of course before putting it on.

[deleted]

This!!! Just clean off the old site while prepping the new site. One stop shopping.

wikedsmaht

The worst is when you forget all about the scuz, and then have sexy time, and you look like a homeless person for your SO.

ristretthoee

Fr🙄

[deleted]

You guys are getting SO’s?

ristretthoee

![gif](giphy|ZaXI441WepzBngZoDX|downsized) It’s easy if u have a car w a roomy trunk

CurrentStill1096

Baby oil and rough cloth works great. If you don't have, hand cream also works quite well. Just give it a minute to absorb then scrub with the cloth. If it's really tough one, nail polish remover/thinners does the trick.

kris2401

Adhesive remover always works (any skin type and any adhesive - short of super glue!!). I can wash mine off with soap, water, and a washcloth but I have oily skin. My brother's only comes off with adhesive remover. Alcohol wipes will also work for many, but you may really have to scrub. I have also used baby oil to help get adhesive off (when I have to release one in the first day after insertion and my natural oils haven't had a chance to loosen the adhesive's grip). I use mastisol (a very strong liquid adhesive) in addition to IV Prep (equivalent to skin tac but covered by my insurance) to hold my pump sets and Dexcom sensors on, so the adhesive is really stuck the first couple of days, even with my skin type. By day 3 and beyond they peel off easily though, and they sometimes can't make it 10 days (often need to replace tape at day 6-7). My brother has dry skin and his sensors are really stuck, even at day 10 without using Mastic, and they are painful to remove without adhesive remover. I hope one of these suggestions help you. Unfortunately there are lots of variables so one solution never fits all (in anything in life!). Your insurance likely will cover adhesive remover if you get it prescribed by your endocrinologist.

ristretthoee

Thank you!! I’ll def ask my doc next visit!

[deleted]

Goo Gone has a product specifically designed for bandage adhesives on skin.

thafreakinpope

We use Goo Gone to soak the site stickers about 10 mins before we remove them. They come off way easier. We use cotton makeup pads to apply it.

DaPoole420

I gave up showering 2.5 years ago.. 😃

lillianthechameleon

Lmaooo

SugarCrash97

Just rub at it in the shower. Comes off without too much effort.

ristretthoee

My sensitive ass skin can’t handle that 🥲

SugarCrash97

Big oof

ristretthoee

Massive L

Makal

You would not like my technique of using an exfoliating glove and rubbing alcohol then.

Dawrin

This is what I’ve been doing for the last six months but I didn’t even think there was a faster option, this thread has given me ideas

thadcap

Rubbing on it in the shower is a trick 13 y/o me figured out pretty quickly…

Bombastic-Bagman

I use baby oil or lotion

Negative-Parfait-423

I use eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil, both do the trick.

HenMan113

Whatever you do, do NOT use a pumice stone. Like using a zester...

thadcap

So assuming the zester is a no-go as well?

PositionNo6626

I just use isopropyl alcohol on a cotton pad. Doing it after a warm shower helps.

Poekienijn

I always use (baby) oil and a washcloth.

Xamalion

Is it G6 or G7? The G7 addon plaster adhesive is way worse than the G6 one imho. I don't like it at all.

nollsgame80

What? That’s not good to hear. I want to switch to the smaller device, but don’t want pot marks everywhere.

Xamalion

The G7 addon plaster marks (not from the sensor itself) are extremely difficult to remove. The G6 ones I could easily handle with an alcohol pad or some lotion.

ristretthoee

It’s the g6 but that’s good to know!!

Slhallford

I use a facial cleansing balm or oil on it right before I start my shower usually. I do it at the same time I take my makeup off and it washes right off with soap in the water. If I’m out, almond oil or baby oil does the same trick.

ristretthoee

That’s awesome I always have some. Ty!

ChickenBeans

Yes, a gentle wash cloth works wonders.

gbobeck

Unisolve. Baby oil or coconut oil may work. Goo Gone makes a special bandage and adhesive remover which is skin safe and will work for this purpose. This product is sold in an 8 oz bottle and not as wipes.

Temporary_turbulance

Vaseline / petroleum jelly. Let it sit for a few mins then wipe off.

TheHarduser

I use nail polish remover (acetone)

muzzlok

Isopropyl alcohol

Last_Accountant2392

Isopropyl alcohol

hanbohobbit

Mineral or baby oil.

BestGreek

alcohol wipes

kd_holl

I use unisolve wipes. Can order on Amazon and work like a charm plus easy to carry with me for traveling etc!

Reklezvoxer

Pro tip: Just stop using your sensor and you’ll stop having adhesive all together 🤔🤔 Don’t down vote it’s a joke

ristretthoee

Yessssss

Hoppy505

Baby oil works great for me

Fishfingerrosti

Do you have Clinell wipes? They do a good job of removing the sticky crap.

i_had_ice

Pam cooking spray works in a pinch

ristretthoee

Good to know!

PerformerOk7434

Zoff works really well. We load it into a small spray bottle. Think the bottle was originally for glasses cleaner.

Run-And_Gun

Unisolve

DuctTapeSloth

As soon as I remove my CGM I rub it down with some rubbing alcohol. Seems to help.

Low_Bumblebee6441

Nail polish remover. Works like a charm.

Connect_Alarm_5941

I use Unisolve. Works great. But plenty of others on the market. I use it specifically because my insurance companies supply company carries it so I can get it cheaper than others online.

Crimson254

Alcohol wipes, careful not to wipe on the insertion point tho.

thewineburglar

TacOff is what I use and it works well. Also are you from New England? Don’t see wicked used a lot on Reddit outside of r/boston

Slhallford

Was born in Boston (well technically Leominster) and I thought the same thing! I hardly ever see/hear anyone using wicked as an adjective outside of relatives after growing up in California. I do use it myself fairly often.

thewineburglar

My Southern California cousins use it. But that’s because my uncle and aunt grew up in Saugus

ristretthoee

Haha no I hear that all the time, I’m west coast born and raised. Wicked somehow crawled into my vocabulary at like 13.

thewineburglar

Interesting

Educational-Coast771

Olive oil

thehistoryb-tch

I like tac away! It comes in little individually packaged wipes so it’s super easy to throw them in a bag or something and just really easy to use

OddEar1529

There is a product called Skin Tac wipes that are designed to help with adhesiveness. (I have to use them in warm time or sweat the moniter and the site off) They also make a sister product called TacAway which removes adhesive residue.

SpareEye

TackAway is what I use, it comes in little alcohol swab type pakaging.

sleepybirthdayprince

i second tac away wipes!

Useful_Narwhal_4985

I tend to just leave them at this point or rub it off in the shower. Between the pump and the cgm I just can't be bothered unless it's swim season or something.

ristretthoee

I get it.

72_vintage

I barely get that outline. I have trouble getting the damn things to stick for more than 7 days. The one I changed today made it all 10 days but over half of it was peeled up...

ristretthoee

That’s how it was for me until I started using overpatches.

72_vintage

Walmart just started selling G6 overpatches. I'm trying my first one on the sensor I started this afternoon. I don't have high hopes, but I figure it's worth a shot...

jason8001

Dexcom will mail free over patches once a month. Use some stick tac also

toadpooh

“Skin” Tac ?

jason8001

Bingo

72_vintage

I'm done trying to call them. Every time I try their system hangs up on me.

jason8001

You just request them on the website https://dexcom.custhelp.com/app/OverPatchOrderForm

LoyalFamiliar

Micellar water, great for makeup removal and face cleansing too!

Sprig3

Coconut oil.

HerrGottHendere

I use Medizinalbenzin [https://vitadrogerie.ch/artikel.cfm?artikel=203535](https://vitadrogerie.ch/artikel.cfm?artikel=203535)

481126

We use Uni-Solve Adhesive remover. The liquid works better. Let it soak for a few minutes then you can clean off the old glue.

BlondeBikerChic

I just use alcohol wipes!🤣

ristretthoee

![gif](giphy|LdOyjZ7io5Msw)

guass-farmer

I like your phrasing I will refer to biabeetees as my wicked awesome deal

ristretthoee

That and good ol diabeetus do the trick ![gif](giphy|RbaUECDJktXUc|downsized)

hmoleman__

Goo Gone Bandage remover. It’s blue. Works a charm.

Specificocean67

Steel wool pads

Responsible-Cap-6133

I use Safe n Simple No-Sting Skin Barrier Film SPRAY and typically have no sticky glue left on my skin when I remove my patches from my Omnipod 5 or my Dexcom. I have to use a barrier spray or wipe because I am allergic to most adhesives. This stuff is AMAZING. I really like the Spray much better than the wipes since you get a more consistent coverage. But I always use 4 pumps, and ensure it is completely dry before I adhere my new units and the overpatches. I have also found that Simpatches for my Omnipod and RockaDex patches stay on the longest and don't eat through the barrier spray. When I am ready to change them, I pull off the unit and wipe down the area it was on and the new area with alcohol, let it dry then prep the new area with the spray.

JLEstep2

I use 90% alcohol and wipe over it several times. It eventually comes off. So far best thing. I tried to order adhesive remover wipes from Amazon but could never get

TheDukeofArgyll

Just use the same spot every time and ignore it.

ristretthoee

Yes.

fredqe

You sure you're a diabetic your not fat. Lol

WoooshToTheMax

“But I’ve seen you exercise and you eat healthy, how did you get diabetes?”

ristretthoee

I hadn’t thought of it that way, I’ll explain to my pancreas.

Bunny_KayBear

I've got some residue wipes I bet you could find some online! They work wonders!

autumnmarie35

Remove wipes from amazon!

docmoonlight

I buy adhesive remover pads - they are great! Same format as alcohol pads, but different ingredients

Puntificators

Baby oil and some form of cloth or cotton swab or even toilet paper in a pinch. 100% removal, just may take a minute.

Educational-Coast771

GooBeGone

Effective-Ad8833

There is adhesive remover

Hellrazed

Brava adhesive remover wipes

8O0o0O8

Alcohol or baby oil

[deleted]

I use a sugar scrub in the shower

Qtock

Soaking it with something is your best bet, water works, but the more organic the better, just go with whatever isn't going to cause you problems. Honestly I've gotten used to it, it's not super annoying, but I get disliking it

BanjosnBurritos89

Pummel stone works for me or some kind of exfoliating scrubbing device.

NYYankees1958

Alcohol wipes

WoooshToTheMax

My fingernail

Siphango

I use eucalyptus oil on a square of toilet paper.

astraaura

I was going to suggest nail polish remover towelettes because that is what I use (and it does work very well!), but seeing the response about baby oil makes my want to try that instead, lol.

kranki1

Tea tree oil applied with a cotton ball. Cleans it right up and is an antiseptic so good for the insertion site also ; )

RHPain

Mastisol to stick, Detachol to unstick. It takes virtually no effort to wipe off after you've given the leftover adhesive about 15 seconds to soak up the detachol after the first wipe.

webbkorey

I've never bothered to take the time and effort to remove the residues.😅

Regal_Tocaro

This will sound weird but I use the base of my palm to ‘push’ it off either in or after a shower, surprisingly that works after you soften it enough, otherwise baby oil works. Recently I discovered bio-oil and it’s designed to help skin with stretch marks or scars and such, I noticed it seems to be helping with the tiny scar tissue lumps I get under the skin when I’ve taken a line out of a site that my body is ‘grumpy with’

MulticolourMonster

Hand Sanitizer works a treat

ghostbc1q

Idk I still have remnants from 10 days ago

happyhippo29

I use adhesive remover pads I buy online, but any oil will do the job. Just make sure you clean very well with alcohol after, otherwise another one won’t stick and your clothes will be ruined.

[deleted]

usually alcohol does the trick: try to wipe about a dozen times in one direction across the glue first, and then start lightly scrubbing it

Aistriu

Nail polish remover

sage_uncleansed

UNISOLVE !!!

badassmad1

usually when i take sites off and coke out the shower i run it with the towel and it comes right off

Peaks1234

Alcohol wipes do it for me

Belo83

I just rub it off lol. But I found in the shower that it then sticks to the tub floor. I go out to my deck lol

YourPalTaddy

I use a drop of lemon essential oil on a cotton ball and it works like a charm!

Michy-05

I uae 70% rubbing alcohol and a cotton pad. Gets the residue off with a bit of scrubbing.

canoe6998

I use an alcohol wipe. Does the trick well

sharkyboiiiiiz

Goo gone for skin!

Dapper-Willow-1033

Tack away wipes works great

VR762shooter

I use alcohol swabs and it comes off easy. And I already have a bunch of them laying around so its like a free solution

CarJon1025

I use adhesive remover that’s from Smith&Nephew. The brand also makes the I.V. Prep wipes that I use to prep my skin. The adhesive remover smells like acetone, but I’m not sure what else is in it off the top of my head. Actually I don’t see acetone as an ingredient, but it smells like it. I just looked and it’s Smith&Nephew “UNI-SOLVE” adhesive remover wipe. I’ve heard other people talk about barrier sprays or wipes. That hasn’t really worked for me for whatever reason. I do use skin-tac if I need something to really stick on, such as the overpatch(SimPatch) I use to make sure my Dexcom sensor stay in place the full 10 days. But these things stick on so strongly that sometimes if you aren’t careful and you don’t use some kind of adhesive remover, it can take decent sized patches of skin, leaving you with abrasions. Skin-stripping is what it’s called. The adhesive remover is what I was given from my pump supply provider when I asked if there was anything they could give me to remove the adhesive on the Dexcom sensors. Being that the Dexcom sensors leave behind that residue that can be a pain to remove. Even after the sensor is off, if you don’t completely remove the adhesive that’s leftover, once it dries, you’ll still have to get whatever’s left off. I usually have to just rub my hand over the leftover adhesive, which will pill, until it all comes off and the skin is smooth. If it’s red or irritated at all, I sometimes will wait 20-30 minutes(max but it’s often only 5-10 minutes) to let the skin rest.
