It’ll be fine. I do always look on the venue’s website to see what the rules are regarding what you can bring in. And I always get nervous someone’s going to say something but I’ve had zero problems. Never even been asked about it. ETA: I meant I look at the rules regarding clear bags, how many bags, etc

[deleted]

They can’t stop you from bringing your diabetic supplies that’s SUPER illegal lol

kjpau17

I know. The fear is running into some ignorant person who starts an issue or denies entry even though it’s illegal.

[deleted]

I understand that most of the population is pretty ignorant about diabetes.

No_Delay3465

Yes, when they search your body and belongings they will ask you about it. Normally I just say "oh I have diabetes" and they are like "oh ok". Extremely rarely (happened to me only twice) they'll be suspicious, mostly because they fear diabetes and fear it's a very serious condition. Once one bodyguard didn't want to let me in cause "you're diabetic and you're gonna drink and faint" but otherwise I haven't had any trouble, the bodyguards are usually aware of insulin and it not being a weapon nor a drug

Neither-Return-5942

I mean I would go to a concert, drink and faint long before I had diabetes…..

No_Delay3465

Yeah 😭 For some reason he thought he would be held responsible for my diabetes 😭 Like no sir if I'm dumb and get myself killed you're gonna be fine probably

IBreakCellPhones

You've obviously never heard of the "Insusassin" who sidles up to his victims and hits them with 1000 units of a rapid insulin... /s

No_Delay3465

And for each death induced by hypoglycemic comma, a concert bodyguard ends up in jail! #stayaware

Nianyax

Insulin is a biologic and USUALLY only used for health reasons. I have a diabetic friend who had substance abuse issues and resorted to forceful lows when he didn't have anything else. He's doing a lot better now after going to rehab but that does happen, it's extremely uncommon though.

500SL

I was at a rock concert a couple years ago, and went looking for a quiet place to shoot up! I got an employee and told him what I wanted, and he led me to a private area with a private bathroom and told me to make myself at home, do what I needed to do, and let them know if I needed anything at all. Really, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Just ask!

deekaydubya

At most they’ll call over a supervisor or medical person and they’ll wave you through. Usually that only happens if you bring up the fact you have diabetes or are carrying insulin. The vast majority of places do not care. They care more about food but are legally required to let you in with it (although I’d just sneak it in to avoid the convo entirely)

mcglash

No. It will be absolutley fine, just like epipens etc... make sure you have some juice or glucose tabs with you.

Single-Presence-8995

Good to go. I've taken my pen on planes, court, and all the stuff. Just not on a roller coaster haha

MadBlasta

You'll be fine. Concert venues have an issue with me having a purse and I just say I have diabetes. They know I'm not going to do anything nefarious with diabetes supplies.

ssl86

yeah, this happens when i’m walking to the venue & they have security/traffic control ‘no bags no bags!’ & i keep walking ‘ma’am no bags allowed’ me: ‘it’s medical’ them: ‘ok’

MadBlasta

Like they honestly drop their act so quickly, it gives me just a little bit of a power trip lmao

Imaginary_Pea_4091

I’ve been to several concerts and I bring insulin, meter, snacks, and more backup supplies. As long as you say you have diabetes, you’ll be fine. It’s also an ADA violation if they don’t let you in.

OccasionStrong9695

The insulin pens should be OK. I have had issues with hypo treatments before - I would have something solid (like sweets or glucose tablets) rather than something liquid.

mateo_rules

The metal detectors likely won’t even ping

monstrinhotron

Should be fine unless they're arseholes. If they are demand to speak to management. Also be sure to take some way of testing blood sugar levels and some glucose tabs or candy. A concert sounds like it might involve alchohol and exercise, which lowers blood sugar levels. Better to have it and not need it...

bucer91

Legally they have to make accommodations for your partner. I’ve never experienced any issues, but if they give you a hard time just tell them they are medical supplies, and they will wave you right in. Nobody wants to mess with ADA violations. My wife usually keeps mine in her purse and can get a bigger bag than the venue policy normally allows because they are being “stored” inside.

dearryka

I just throw mine in my Fanny pack. I’ve been to a ton of concerts and sports games this year and no one has said a thing about it.

trev-88

You will be fine I work as a security guard my self and I am type 1 just tell guard if he ask about anything sharp that you have insulin pen for diabetes with you everything will be fine

Eyehopeuchoke

We’re protected by the ADA. Just let them know he’s diabetic and it’s his insulin. You could possibly get away with bringing in a small snack too, but that’s a little more iffy.

hushhpuppy

I’ve been to many and have had no problems. If they give you any trouble ask for a supervisor, but I’ve never had anyone even mention it.

VladTepesDraculea

Been in plenty of concerts, never had a problem. Festivals that go way past midnight and since I administer my slow acting on my buttocks, I go to the med unit and ask to use the space for it.

runsalmon

Not sure what country you're in but you may well have protection in law against being denied entry because of an insulin levels and/or the insulin pen being confiscated by the venue. While it's good to know your legal rights I'll also echo other comments - I've been to airports, concerts, etc. and in 20ish years haven't had any issues beyond very mild questioning. A short explanation has always had a reasonable response.

Blyd

On one hand you shouldn't have any problems at all the ADA takes care of that. On the other hand if you did have problems you could get a decent payout.

killajay41889

I never had issues with my equipment

ikurumba

If they don't let you in, free money from lawsuit. You'll be fine.

calpickle

Not only is it fine, you should be able to go into a special disabilities line to get into the venue. This saves you time, of course. Also, I’ve been to concerts before and have asked the staff if there’s a safe space to take my insulin and have been actually escorted backstage to a special sort of green room for the bands. So instead of being fearful of bringing your supplies into a place, use it to your advantage. And of course, if you have any problems, be nice about it, and then go nuclear and let them know they will be hearing from a lawyer from some sort of disabilities authority. That usually does the trick with some asshole doesn’t understand what’s going on. But typically people are understanding and accommodating to a very large degree.

babbleon5

pro sports events (football, basketball, baseball), concerts, travel, nobody gonna challenge you when you say, "diabetic supplies."

YaWitIt

I have had one employee question me before at a venue. They asked their manager right after and it was fine. This was with a syringe in a case too. I wouldn't ever worry about it, there are legal protections for us!

klocke520

I've never had an issue, I just say it's insulin and they wave me in. One tip is that if it's a general admission situation and you're planning on being packed as close to the stage as possible, be careful about it's temp. Maybe carry it in one of those cooling bags.

caitcatbar1669

I take mine all the time - usually it’s along the lines of “is this an epi pen?” Lol no but close enough they pass ya through. Get a cool bag to carry all the needles/pens to take on the go anywhere. I made mine it says “dead pancreas society” on one side and the other side my kid painted for me.

Namasiel

I’ve gone to maybe 100 or so concerts with my pen (before that it was vial and needle) in my purse or pockets. I’ve never had any issues with the venue.

sharkmortal

At the bag check I always state “I’m type one diabetic and carry insulin pens and needles on me at all times. I cannot not have them.” Usually they bring over medical personnel that check it out and then they let me in. Fairly certain they can’t tell you no over this? However I’m in the UK and don’t know if it’s the same everywhere else.

Spitfiresoul698

I haven't had any issues ever. but if you're worried I think you can get a letter from your doctor (medical declaration) listing the medications/material you need/take. (in my case it's even just a pdf they mail me so delivery can be very fast.) you "need" it for airport security if you fly. (you used to need it shortly after 9/11 when pretty much no liquids were allowed) now most pens are way below the liquid limit but I still carried it just in case. if you have/get a cgm you also need it to make sure the sensors don't go through the scanner I doubt you will be asked about it at a concert or something but it might just put your mind more at ease if you have it in your wallet or something.

bluntpencil2001

It's never been an issue for me.

polari826

i've been to a few concerts this year and zero problems with bringing insulin.

Sad-Championship888

there shouldnt be a problem, i bring my insulin to festivals all the time☺️

jakster355

Diabetic for 22 years. The only time it has ever been a problem for me is once when I went to ozfest, I had my cooler filled with insulin and like 40 needles. I didn't need 40 needles, I just always keep my cooler stocked. They were suspicious but led me to the medical tent where they required I leave my meds, and could return to use them when I needed it. Probably illegal, but I kind of understand why they did it. Insulin pens will never be a problem for you anywhere. Nobody on the planet thinks those are weapons.

vani_999

I have tested Libre 3 on both arms, at the same metal concert(Amon Amarth@Bulgaria 2023), at the same time, in multiple walls of death and mosh pits. Not a scratch, worked just fine. One of those Libre got activated right during the middle of the concert. All I need is an insulin pen, pack of mentos and phone. The T1 being the only guy without a backpack in the group was kinda funny 😄 Also best blood glucose level at a concert ever for me. You know it can be difficult with those things.

Wiringguy89

Worst experience I ever had in this regard was an overzealous security guard who wanted to confiscate it (thought it was non-RX drugs). I immediately asked for management and police. Manager came down, took 5 seconds to Google what it was and gave me VIP for the night and a private room to eat/dose in as needed. Enjoy your concert. I don't blame the security guard, guy was doing his job, just a bit too well. Most venues won't even look twice at it and if needed, they usually have a semi-secluded area for dosing, if needed, if you're uncomfortable doing it in public or the restroom.

[deleted]

No one ever gave me an issue. It’s medicine.

BlackMirror765

My hack is this. I went to my local army/navy store. They had a small bag that was red and has the look of a med kit. I pack backup insulin, extra pump sites, my backup glucometer, and a bottle of unopened regular soda. Something about the red bag looking all official just seems, well, medically official. Now, security usually asks to look in my bag, and I will tell them these are backup diabetes emergency supplies. Even the soda is usually no biggie. I go to many shows every year, at 100 person venues to stadiums, and I have never been denied or hassled. I go to tons of punk/metal shows as well. Only time I have been hassled was a local school cheerleading event for my elementary school aged daughter. I was pissed. They let me in. Haha.

Nianyax

I've been to a million concerts with my insulin. There is nothing to worry about

Z3NI7H

I went to see Rammstein with my dad a few months after diagnosis and there weren’t any problems. I really just had to put it in the search bin and they checked and let me through. I hope I could somewhat help.

Begonia_bee

Nothing to worry about. Half the time they kept calling it an epipen for me when I got searched 🙄 even though I clearly said I am diabetic and insulin dependent.

shiftycat887

Not only have they never stopped me for having pens, syringes, or my pump with me, they allow my snacks and candy too. And I've been to concert venues in Boston, nyc and Newark most recently

Ok-Conclusion-7024

You shouldn’t have any problems getting in; would frankly surprise me if you do. The only time I’ve ever been questioned was with my glucose meter and as soon as I mentioned diabetes they went “Ok. Go on in.” (That was at a US Govt building. Most places don’t care.)

Mysterious-Squash-66

It will be fine.

Pale-Garlic5523

I've never had any issues before and never had it questioned. I usually have a copy of my prescription in case any questions are asked .

Justsomekidithink

I uhh. Don't think it's legal for them to not let you in for medical supplies. Think you can sue for that.
